Lizzo Spreads Love From Shibuya Amid Drama With Former Dancers

Lizzo has previously broken the internet with her thirst traps on numerous occasions, but just a few weeks ago, it was unfortunately bad news that got the Special singer trending. A group of her former dancers launched a lawsuit against the Detroit native, specifically accusing her of creating a hostile work environment, as well as body shaming them. There were three women sharing their stories at first, but since then, the number has only grown. Their attorney has hinted at the case perhaps going to court in the future, though Lizzo seems focused on staying out of the drama and focusing on positivity.

As she awaits news of what’s happening next with her ex-employees, the multi-talent is spending some time overseas before summer comes to an end. According to her first Instagram post since her statement addressing the allegations, Lizzo is sending us love from Shibuya. On Friday (August 18), her feed lit up with a video reel showing off some of her favourite moments from her time in Japan.

Never one to avoid standing out, Lizzo donned a vibrant yellow, blue, and green two-piece set to explore the city. The fabric’s texture left her looking comparable to a bug or sea creature, but still fabulous, nonetheless. She wore her light brown hair in messy space buns and shielded her eyes from the cameras flashing at her with oversized shades. The 35-year-old appears to be as happy as one can be under the circumstances, bringing much relief to those supporting her through this time.

Earlier in the week, those who chose to remain a part of Lizzo’s dance team shared a statement of solidarity with the “Truth Hurts” singer. “Thank you to Lizzo for shattering limitations and kicking in the doorway for the Big Grrrl & Big Boiii dancers to do what we love!” they wrote. Now he’s decided to take his talents behind the camera. The rapper was recently tapped to direct a music video for Lil Duval. Released via YouTube on Tuesday (August 15), the “Squeeze” video opens with a hilarious skit of the comedian leading a “Stop The Violence” assembly.

Later on, Duval is surrounded by a sea of fans, as well as enjoying himself while dancing his way down the Soul Train line. Based on the comments, the visual seems well-received. “Good shit OG!!!! The clip specifically targets artists who debuted with 30,000 album sales or less. “C list rappers, n*gga we bout to create an avengers of trash n*ggas,” he said. “If we all put our 30,000 first week together, n*gga we gone make a million.”

Trippie’s latest album, A Love Letter To You 5, first-week sales were less than stellar. Similarly to those he once laughed at, the rapper’s project sold only around 30,000 copies in its first week. After a series of pushbacks, the mixtape was finally released last week. It served as the fifth and final installment of his A Love Letter to You series. It featured guest appearances by Lil Wayne, Roddy Ricch, Bryson Tiller, and more.

Earlier this year, the rapper dropped off his fifth studio album, Mansion Musik. The project didn’t achieve massive commercial success and received mixed reviews from fans. It debuted on the Billboard 200 at No.3, selling 56,000 album-equivalent units. Chief Keef, Future, Lil Baby, and the late Juice Wrld were among those featured.

It’s not just his music career that Trippie Redd is struggling with, it’s his love life as well. Recently, he shared an emotional apology to Skye Morales on Instagram for cheating on her. The two had been together since 2021, although they’ve seemed to call it quits amid Redd’s infidelity.“Just wanted to publicly apologize to Skye do not be mad at her I cheated she not have had the best attitude with me, but she was the most loyal partner I ever had and I lost her,” Trippie Redd wrote, as noted by The Shade Room. “I just want u guys to be better than me. Rae Sremmurd Share New Music Video For “Sexy”

Rae Sremmurd are following up their new album earlier this year with yet another music video. Back in April, Rae Sremmurd returned with their first new album since 2018’s SR3MM. Sremm 4 Life had features from Young Thug and Future among its 14-song tracklist. The album went on to debut at number 28 on the Billboard 200, becoming their first studio album to peak outside the top 10. They’ve already released music videos for “Torpedo,” “Tanisha (Pump That),” and “Not So Bad (Lean Gone Cold).”

Now “Sexy” has officially become the 4th track from the album to receive a music video. The Ethan Iverson-directed music video dropped earlier today and features a number of memorable hip-hop motifs. In the clip the duo hang out with some of their famous friends, drinking, flexing expensive items, and causing trouble wherever they go. Locations in the video include a studio, restaurant, hotel room, and even out on a boat. Check out the extravagant new music video below.

All the way back in January, Rae Sremmurd released another new single “Sucka Or Sum.” The song featured the pair trading off verses in their trademark fashion and has racked up nearly 7 million streams. For unspecified reasons, the song was left off Sremm 4 Life when it dropped a few months later. A few weeks before that they dropped the album’s lead single “Torpedo.” The track dropped right at the end of 2022 and became a moderate hit for the pair reaching nearly 12 million streams since it dropped.

Last year, Rolling Loud assembled their own compilation album, and Rae Sremmurd were included on it. They teamed up with Duke Deuce for the song “Finger Food” which served as the lead single for the project. The pair kept plenty busy, even in the 5 years between album releases by dropping a number of singles in the process. TikTok has brought forth plenty of interesting trends since its inception. The latest one taking over the internet is NPC streaming. If you’re not familiar, the acronym stands for “non-playable character,” and finds users acting like video game extras while taking direction from those tuning into their broadcasts, usually in exchange for money. PinkyDoll is one of the best-known TikTokers blowing up thanks to her NPC posts and streams, though it seems Queen of Rap Nicki Minaj is coming to give her a run for her money.

On Sunday (August 13), a video from the mother of one’s latest Live quickly began making rounds. “A TikTok gun, it’s sending out money,” Minaj says in a robotic-like voice as viewers add on-screen effects to her face and background. “Oh, it’s a microphone. Y’all know what I do on that mic. I dest- I destroy these h*es. Whoa, a cake! Um, something from medieval times,” she continues, trying to keep up with the never-ending random objects being thrown at her.

While her performance was pretty impressive, Minaj did break character a few times throughout. “Get them muthaf**kin hands outta here,” she sternly tells misbehaving viewers. “I told y’all that b**ch, don’t get blocked, b**ch.” Without missing a beat she then went back into NPC mode, continuing to amuse us with her effortless comedy routine. It’s unclear if we’ll be seeing the “Barbie Dreams” hitmaker partaking in the trend anymore in the future, but as many are pointing out, she could easily make a career for herself as a fulltime TikTok star.

It’s not likely we’ll see Nicki Minaj and PinkyDoll dropping a song together anytime soon (though the Head Barb has made a point of working with lesser-known artists lately). Still, she has her sights set on connecting with Ice Spice in the future, and some fans seem to be on board with the idea.
