Earlier this week, a seemingly imaginary beef sparked in the minds of many rap fans. That came when Ice Spice was brought into a discussion Cardi B was having online about parents and heritage. “Same reason why you felt comfortable calling me a Mexican when I’m Dominican and I asked you why you feel comfortable calling me a Mexican when ice and jharell Jerome Zoe Saldana are Dominicans and you don’t do that to them” a tweet Cardi made in response to a fan online reads. Spice caught the mention of her and posted a quote tweet. “no offense bardi its cus i have a dominican parent & a black one” Spice’s response reads.

Thankfully, Cardi didn’t seem to take any offense. “I think there might be some confusion on what was said, I asked why he feels so comfortable calling me Mexican? I have no Mexican parents. My mom is Trini.. she came out of a whole black woman. My father is Dominican…I’m Dominican just like you. I also used other Dominicans as an example because as you should know a lot of times we get clustered into one because of the language,” her response aiming to clarify reads. She concluded the second tweet with a request to see the picture the pair took together at the Vanity Fair Oscars party, which Ice Spice was happy to oblige. Check out the pictures she shared below.

Over the weekend celebrities gathered in bulk for the Oscars. Though the event is meant to highlight the biggest and best films of the year, music was well represented. The Academy gives out an award for Best Original Song, which saw Billie Eilish, Jon Batiste, and Mark Ronson all performing. Eilish ultimately took home the award for the second time already in her short career. But one place where musicians were even more well-represented were some of the after-parties.

As you’d expect, a lot of focus was placed on outfits and looks. Halle Bailey showed up looking stunning even as her film The Little Mermaid failed to secure any nominations. Ice Spice looked great in a black see-through dress but still found herself having to defend her fashion choices online. But Childish Gambino was one of the most surprising, as he debuted an entirely new look. For the event, he showed off a new haircut, substituted his full beard for just a mustache, and donned a red AMIRI suit. One of those was Ice Spice who is shockingly more famous during this year’s Academy Awards than she was just one year ago. That’s why it was no surprise that she was in attendance for the Vanity Fair afterparty. While some fashion spotters were stunned by her see-through black lace dress, others took issue with the similarity to other looks she’s worn.

“i wish her stylist would try harder… same lace bodysuit back to back” a fan online said in response to her most recent look. Spice has never been one to bite her tongue so when she saw the tweet, she fired back. “lets see u b*tches in custom dolce” she replied in a quote tweet. That was the most direct response she gave, but not the only one. Spice also liked a fans tweet who made a response to similar criticisms of her wearing her hair the same way. “y’all are so annoying. ariana wore a half up n half down hairstyle for damnear 5yrs straight. what’s the issue?” the tweet Spice liked reads. But I’ll call you later ‘cause I’m on Live. I’ll tell you all the tea on her later. Bye.”

In addition to fans debating whether the “somebody” was Saweetie, users on Instagram complained about Cardi starting drama. “Mean girl behavior but yall swear it’s Nicki this girl need to be in jail honestly idk how she get away with the ish she do!!!” one fan commented on a post of the clip on The Neighborhood Talk. Rumors of a feud between Cardi and Saweetie began back in 2022 when allegations surfaced that the rapper had an affair with Cardi’s husband, Offset. Cardi shot down the idea at the time. “No baby you lying,” she wrote on Twitter while going back and forth with a fan. “You makin crazy lies starting sh*t and putting female rappers in it WIT NO RECEIPTS, no blog ever spoke on this all of a sudden you come out of jail 5 days ago and you made up for lied in 2 hours wit NO RECEIPTS!” Saweetie also previously dated Offset’s Migos partner, Quavo, from 2019 to 2021.

Donald Glover Says He’s More Talented Than Lil Dicky During Lie Detector Test

While promoting Mr. & Mrs. Smith in early February, Donald Glover ended up taking shots at Lil Dicky. When asked if he thought he was more talented than the rapper and Dave creator, Glover was brutally honest. “Yeah. I mean, I think he’s a really nice guy. I’m just conceited.” In the two weeks since the Vanity Fair video aired, things haven’t turned into an all-out beef between the two actors/rappers.

However, it’s not the first time that Glover has spoken on comparisons between his work and Dicky’s. In 2022, Glover told Interview Magazine that he “liked” Dave but it “bothered him” when it was compared to Atlanta. “You have to think of it like food. Dave is a good burger you should eat fast because the ingredients are fresh. [It’s a show] by a guy who didn’t study at a culinary school, but paid close attention to other burger spots and has the plug on good ingredients. I think in entertainment or art it’s important to know the difference between things. Like, Anthony Bourdain wasn’t pretentious, but he definitely knew the difference between a dry aged wagyu and a smash burger. Neither is better or worse than the other. They’re just different experiences,” Glover said.

Donald Glover Claims Brad Pitt Gave Him No Advice For Mr. & Mrs. Smith

Meanwhile, prior to the debut of the show on Prime, Glover revealed the extent of the advice he was given by Brad Pitt. Glover revealed that Brad Pitt wasn’t exactly forthcoming when Glober reached for advice about reprising Pitt’s role in the upcoming TV reboot of Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Glover told The Tonight Show that the actor “Brad Pitted” his way through their interaction – being very charming but ultimately not saying a whole lot. Pitt also reportedly told Glover he’d “do a great job” but didn’t give anything more concrete than that.

In the interview, Maya Erskine also revealed that the studio was very keen to “sex it up” throughout the promotion of the show. However, Erskine revealed that this was something she struggled with because her “inner sexual animal” is a “worm”. It’s also an interesting direction, given how the show’s early marketing material portrays the couple as very business-minded and sexless.

After Simone’s NFL star husband, Jonathan Owens, commented on their relationship, the pair were thrust into viral infamy. However, Biles’s accolades overshadow any naysayers in comment sections.

This week, Simone Biles continued her global takeover with yet another magazine cover, this time for Vanity Fair‘s February 2024 issue. Inside, the 26-year-old gymnastics icon got candid about her marriage, admitting that it was Owens’s confidence first attracted her. Elsewhere, Biles discussed her involvement with charitable organizations centered on foster children. As a child, her mother struggled with addiction, and Simone often found herself in and out of the system. However, the bliss was brief, because soon, Owens joined the Green Bay Packers. This meant their first year of marriage would be long distance. “I cried a lot. We’re both so busy, so it’s not like I’m sitting [around] waiting for him to come home, but it’s just hard.” Even so, Biles is happy to support her husband. “We love being with the Packers organization [and] Lambeau. The fans are…I wouldn’t even call them crazy; they’re dedicated. They love their players as if those are their children.”

A new album isn’t the only music that fans are excited for. Later this month Drake will release his new album For All The Dogs.
