Skepta Finally Announces New Album, Lead Single Coming In January

Just about a month ago, Skepta teamed up with 19-year-old producer Ryder for the 48 Hours EP, a solid offering. However, its quality still didn’t dissuade his fan from lamenting the lack of a full-length solo album since 2020’s Insomnia, although a new house-based project with Jammer under the name Más Tiempo is apparently in the works. Regardless, die-hards are still waiting for a follow-up, but fortunately, 2024 brings us very good news. It hasn’t even been a full 24 hours into the year as of writing this article, and we’re already sure that many listeners found their most anticipated project of the year.

“It’s been years since I dropped my last album,” Skepta shared in a message to his various social media accounts on Monday (January 1). “I want to thank you for all the love during my hiatus. I’ve seen the messages, tweets and Tik Toks, I’m truly grateful that my music is still resonating with the world, even in my absence. I’m happy to announce my next studio album #KnifeAndFork is loading this year, the first single #GasMeUp (Diligent) will be out January 26th. Can’t wait to see you all @bigsmokefestival happy 2024.”

According to Uproxx, the song will be titled “Ok,” and it will be coming on Friday, November 10. This comes from Busta himself with a short Instagram video. On top of hyping the album once again, he included the details about his work with Thugger. “NEW SINGLE #OK FT. @thuggerthugger1 DROPPING 11.10.23!!” This will be the first song they are on together. It should be an entertaining cut from start to finish.

However, we found out recently that the wait will soon be over, as Drake’s next album will drop next Friday (September 22). Not only that, but during a recent show in Austin, Texas for his It’s All A Blur tour with 21 S*vage, the OVO star revealed that he will release a single from the project this Friday (September 15). As such, it seems like we’ll finally get a chance to listen to what he has in store for fans with his second album in the past year.

“I’m even going to say something tonight in Austin, Texas I haven’t said yet,” Drake began. “I know y’all excited to hear the album. I know it’s, like two weeks out. He just put a new snippet of an unreleased track on his Instagram featuring his girlfriend Skye Morales that hints toward a departure from his rage tendencies on MANSION MUSIK.

Furthermore, the snippet deals in heartbreak, finding it hard to fall in love, and feeling betrayed by a past relationship. With a guitar in the background as its harmonic driver, a simple trap beat, and Trippie Redd’s melodic sung vocals, it certainly doesn’t sound like anything on his last album. In fact, it seems like he hinted towards the upcoming release of A Love Letter To You 5 in his caption, specifically its first single. “LEFT 4 DEAD,” he captioned the post with presumably the teased single in question. “COMMENT 555 if u ready for the first single from the album.”

Unfortunately Trippie Redd’s past releases faced roadblocks from hackers holding his music hostage for $1 million. It seems like the greatest effect that had was on the track “KRZY TRAIN” with Travis Scott. According to the 23-year-old, he had to release the unmixed original cut of the song because the whole album would’ve leaked first otherwise. It’s a shame that such an anticipated release faced that robbery, but that was one of the tracks people liked the most from MANSION MUSIK. As such, it seems like everything worked out in the end.
