Cardi B is done letting anxiety get the best of her. With her long-awaited sophomore album slated to drop this year, she has a mountain of music to serve to fans. Her Missy Elliott-approved “Like What (Freestyle)” was just the start. Yesterday (March 7), Cardi took to Instagram to tease her follow-up record, “Miami.”
As a Bronx native, Cardi pulled inspiration for the tropical city for the forthcoming fiery track. From the studio, Cardi B shared an extended snippet of the record, and she’s giving major Gangsta B*tch Music, Vol. 3 energy. “Look, I see my opps linkin’ up / I’m like, ‘What in the f*ck?’ / If you scared then just say that / Ho, enough is enough / They was just in my DM’s / Ain’t no trustin’ these sluts / I’m about to call up Diamond / B*tch, knuck if you buck,” she raps.
According to the simple caption, the song will drop next Friday, March 15. Cardi B’s previous single, “Bongos,” with Megan Thee Stallion, was a take on Brazilian funk. For “Miami,” Cardi B is looking to bring back to the gritty streets of New York.

Could the wait be over? The wait for Cardi B’s long-awaited sophomore album that is. Today (February 26), the “Wap” rapper’s time of anxiously dragging her feet might have come to an end, and her fans couldn’t be more excited.
Cardi pulled out the good ‘ol social media wipe to lure followers in. A screenshot captured by news aggregator Pop Base revealed that Cardi replaced her profile images from Instagram and X’s (formerly Twitter) page. She even took it a step further by blacking out her banner image on X as well.
Immediately after the blackout, Cardi’s devoted superfans, Bardi Gang, began to flood X, which led the phrase, Bardi Blackout, to trend across the platform. Back in December, supporters pushed We Want Cardi into the app’s algorithm after buzz for Cardi’s collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion (“Bongos“) started to die out.
Despite her promise to release a follow-up in 2023, it’s been radio silent. But she could be on the verge of making it up to fans very soon. According to her husband and fellow rapper Offset, Cardi’s forthcoming music will put her back on top.
Cardi B is celebrating her husband Offset’s top five album debut and teasing her own. Offset’s Set It Off made a splash on the charts and is receiving rave reviews. Now Cardi has fans looking in her direction.

“She literally just let me do me,” Meg explained. “This is the second time she’s sent me a song, and I’ll be like, ‘Friend, can I do whatever I want to do on the beat? I’m finna put two verses on here, alright?’ She always let me do whatever I want to do creatively.”

She continued: “I just appreciate that so much because sometimes people try to give you a direction and they want you to do what they want you to do, but she’s like ‘Megan, what you think?’ She’ll ask me what I think about this song like, ‘OK, how you think we could make it better? What should we do next? Just do whatever you wanna do and then we’ll piece it together.’” Megan also noted that the two have become friends, despite Cardi being “shy” when they first met. In the time since, she’s gotten to know the “the real her.”

Like most people, Cardi B is not a fan of the clean version of songs. A sense of loss comes with censoring lyrics, which can sometimes throw off an entire bar. Cardi called it “annoying,” citing the clean lyrics she had to say as “corny” and comparing them to Kidz Bop music. Sean Evans cited how Cardi said she wanted more people to ask her about current events, so he decided to question her about one of the most popular recent topics in the news today: aliens. “I don’t believe the aliens are real,” she said. “If aliens are real…and they’re smarter than us…why haven’t they invaded us?” Cardi believes they would want to control humans simply because we are power-hungry, and they know they could overtake us if they wanted to.

Deep knowledge and interest in American history is something sometimes associated with underground rappers or legacy artists but Cardi B’s interest in it was surprising to many viewers. She segued into the topic after Sean asked her about her interview with David Letterman and shared that visiting Franklin D. Roosevelt’s house with him was her favorite memory. She beamed excitedly about how surreal it felt to be in the same room where FDR and Winston Churchill discussed the nuclear bomb.
“Anybody that loves and knows me knows I love FDR. And I love Eleanor Roosevelt,” she shared. Over the years hundreds of celebrities have sat opposite Sean Evans and tried their hand at eating some incredibly spicy wings on his show Hot Ones. The format has long created hilarious moments for celebs who aren’t ready for the heat. That seemed to also be the case for the newest celeb to take the spot, Cardi B. Amid questions about aliens, intro songs on an album, and her love for Rihanna, Cardi also tries to stomach some spicy wings.
The interview opens up with a teaser clip of Cardi shedding some spice-induced tears. In the snippet, she claims “I wanna go home to my kids, this is crazy.” Despite the serious-sounding claims, the rapper is pretty much all smiles throughout the interview. She also manages to hold up to the spicy wings better than many of Evans’ other guests. Recently, Cardi B has entered a sort of mini beef with Joe Budden. The podcast host gave his thoughts on Cardi’s newest track “Bongos” and it wasn’t necessarily all positive. She took issue with some of his observations and comments, though the beef ended up blown out of proportion. Budden continues to claim that there were never any hard feelings and it was all blown out of proportion by the way it was reported.
Cardi also ended up being subjected to a proxy beef of sorts. Her husband Offset and Nicki Minaj’s husband Kenneth Petty took shots at each other repeatedly online.
