Ice Spice Failed To Live Up To Her Name, Joining The ‘Hot Ones’ Hall Of Shame

In the annals of Hot Ones history, only a handful of the show’s guests have been unable to complete the gauntlet of Wings Of Death. Unfortunately for breakout star Ice Spice, she has joined the rolls of the Hall Of Shame, failing to finish her interview, despite having “Spice” in her name (I swear I did not mean for that to rhyme). At least she’s in good company; fellow rappers who also dropped the ball include E-40, Lil Yachty, Pusha T, Quavo, and Shaquille O’Neal (if we count his four rap albums of the 1990s).

The “Boy’s A Liar” rapper is working up to the release of her debut album, Y2K, which she said releases this year after finishing it earlier this month. Host Sean Evans got some insight into her creative process, which is the opposite of the usual “record 50 songs and whittle it down” approach. He also invited Spice to explain how she writes her catchy hooks, her car test, and her bond with producer RiotUSA, including the iconic “Stop playin’ with ’em, Riot” tag.

However, despite Ice’s prediction that “I think I can get through this,” but as with others before her, the sauce that took her out was the infamous #8: Da Bomb: Beyond Insanity. She tapped out just ahead of wing #9, saying, “I’m not gonna do that to my throat,” as the Hot Ones producers played a montage of prior early withdrawals. She seemed to be a good sport about it, and maintained her composure better than some (there probably won’t be too many memes hitting the socials from this episode) while delivering some truly good answers, she just couldn’t get over the line. Better luck next time, Ice!

Ice Spice Starts Shaking As The “Hot Ones” Wings Force Her To Tap Out

Ice Spice is easily one of the biggest new artists of the last couple of years. Overall, she became a household name thanks to her song “Munch.” However, there is no doubt that her collaborations with both Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift helped tremendously. At this point, Spice has the potential to continue growing and becoming the leader of the next generation of women artists. That said, fans are waiting for her to drop her new album. Y2K is coming out later this year, and it could certainly elevate her status in the game, if it’s good.

With this new album on the horizon, Ice Spice has been doing some media appearances here and there. For instance, she recently linked with Sean Evans for an episode of Hot Ones. Hot Ones is one of those shows that a ton of celebrities will do, regardless of their domain. After all, you get to have an interesting conversation, all while eating some delicious hot wings. The most entertaining part of the show, however, is whether or not the guest is able to finish all of their wings. Unfortunately, for Ice Spice, she was one of the victims of the challenge.

In the clip above, you can see that one of the wings had her shaking a bit. Moreover, tears were welling in her eyes, and she could barely focus on the interview. Sean Evans tried to guide her through it, but it proved to be too tough of a task. In fact, she ended up tapping out prior to the last wing. She didn’t want to put herself through any more torture, and you can’t blame her. Maybe in the future, she can go back on and try all over again.

La La Anthony Shows Love To Son Kiyan Backstage At “Hot Ones”

La La Anthony took a chance to how much her son Kiyan has grown as the two prepared to appear on Hot Ones. “Growing up wayyyyy too fast 🥹,” Anthony wrote about her son. Kiyan is a four-star recruit in the class of 2025. He is ranked #45 by 247 Sports and ESPN. He currently has a wealth of collegiate offers, including his father’s alma mater, Syracuse. Kiyan’s father, Caremlo Anthony, revealed last year that he had intended to retire earlier, but that his son encouraged him to keep playing.

Kiyan was born in 2007, three years after his parents’ initial engagement. La La and Melo were married in 2010. However, the couple separated in 2017 before reconciling in 2018. Despite this, La La formally filed for divorce in 2021. Kiyan primarily lives with his mother in New York. He currently attends Long Island Lutheran, a prestigious and well-respected East Coast basketball powerhouse.

Meanwhile, Kiyan Anthony had the chance to meet Drake last year during the It’s All A Blur tour. While walking through the crowd at Madison Square Garden, Drake spotted a familiar face. The Toronto rapper bounded over to embrace and greet Kiyan. The pair also posed for a photo after the show. Furthermore, the Anthony family is well-connected within the world of hip-hop. Jadakiss refers to Melo as “his little brother” and honored him at an Air Jordan event in Puerto Rico last year.

In December, during a joint appearance on 7am in Brooklyn, Melo found a way to wow Kiss. As Jadakiss gave Usher his flowers for his recently-ended Vegas residency, he also mentioned that he still fondly remembered his time working with Usher. A moment later, Anthony was dropping a perfect cover of Kiss’ verse from that collaboration, “Throwback”. “He killed it!” Jadakiss exclaimed once Anthony had powered through the verse. Elsewhere, Kiyan had called Jadakiss the “Melo of hip-hop” thanks to his longevity and persistence in the industry.

Tyler The Creator Demands Better Music Journalism While Coining The Most Hilarious Description Of ‘Hot Ones’ Ever

Whenever Tyler The Creator and Nardwuar link up, there’s always going to be some gold to mine. In his latest interview with the Canadian host, which they shot at Camp Flog Gnaw recently, Tyler deplores the gimmicky state of music journalism while coining what is possibly the funniest description of the show Hot Ones ever. Sneaker Shopping also catches a stray in the interview, which you can watch in full above.

While talking about how much he loves talking about music, Tyler wonders at fans’ reticence to take in such conversation in comparison to interview shows with wild hooks. Lamenting that so much music journalism is about beef and gossip, he says, “We need to get back to talking about music. We need to stop going sneaker shopping or f*cking deep-throating hot wings for an hour. Talk about your album, talk about music, talk about the 15 songs you guys have spent time and gotten mixed and mastered and put your heart into and produced… when the album comes out and it sells 2 copies, everyone is confused – but they don’t want to talk about the music, they’d rather eat chicken wings and sneaker shop.”

Tyler’s passion comes from a genuine place; he legitimately seems worried that the devaluing of music could lead to a place where the music isn’t worth making or listening to. However, perhaps in an object illustration of just what he was talking about, only the comments above were broken out on social media, prompting him to hit his Instagram Story to clear a few things up.

“In the interview i shared a thought about the lack of journalism in music,” he wrote, “and used ‘hot ones’ as one of two examples.”

it comes off as having so much disdain towards the show which i dont, but really it was to be used as a broader example that popped in my head while trying to make the point. i could’ve said one of the (podcasts/ outlets that really pushes the more negative stuff but in that moment i didn’t. so sean [Evans, the host of Hot Ones] you didn’t really deserve the energy that comes off, wasnt my intention at all although “deep throating chicken” sounds hilarious to me. i am highly opinionated and outspoken so it comes off as my usual “complaining” ( like everyone else does, mines just gets shared more than the regular poster or comment, even if most of the video is me giving praise and showing gratitude to a multitude of things, that’s not what’s gonna get shared or spoken about). this will most likely get lost while the clip continues to get tossed around, but at least a few of you will see this. won’t change much since it’s out but yeah. really wish i used a different example, you seem like a sweet ol lady

Hey look, I don’t always agree with T, but in this case… He’s absolutely right (and I’m not just saying that because my job is almost entirely dependent on me writing about music and people actually LOOKING at what I wrote). Music fans complain (rightly) about the focus on gossip and poor sourcing in music journalism today, but then click on SayCheeseTV and TheShadeRoom for their music news. Seems counterproductive to me. We (journalists and artists alike) get into this because we love music and we love talking about music. The cynicism and commercialism that is slowly sucking the soul out of everything can be fought, but only if we all care enough (that includes you readers and viewers) to do it.

(He’s also got a point about releasing music on Tuesdays again, but you can watch the interview for that too).

Doja Cat Explains Changing Album Name From “Hellmouth” To “Scarlet”

Doja Cat says that the name Hellmouth felt too aggressive for her new album, hence the change to Scarlet. She discussed the name of the project during an interview with Sean Evans on Hot Ones, for an episode that premiered Thursday.

When Evans asked about the changing of the name, Doja explained: “I don’t care about the meaning being so deep, as much as the word being a cool word. I just like good words. I thought Hellmouth was cool … it’s like the gates of hell. But that felt so aggressive to me after a while, and I don’t know if I even like it anymore.”

From there, she explained that Scarlet made more sense. “I change my mind constantly,” Doja admitted. “And Scarlet felt like the right thing to do, ’cause it’s kind of an ode to Hot Pink. I did the name of a color, but it’s not really; you think of [Scarlett] as someone’s first name, and not as a color. That was kind of the twist to it. And also red is just a passionate shade.” Check out her appearance on Hot Ones below.

Doja Cat Takes On “Hot Ones”

Elsewhere in the interview, Doja spoke about how deep into internet culture she is, revealing that she’s currently obsessed with “YouTube poop,” which Evans described as a “sub genre of YouTube comedy.” Doja explained: “I like it most when it’s a talk show, and you go in and edit it to make it sound like someone’s saying something that’s super crass and cr*zy,. Like, there’s some Dr. Phil YouTube poops that are some of the best ones. I keep going back to them, but it’s a very deep rabbit hole.” The interview comes after Doja recently faced backlash online for wearing a t-shirt featuring the face of alleged neo-Nazi Sam Hyde.

Doja Cat Talks About Her Internet Addiction On “Hot Ones”

Appearing on Hot Ones is becoming a sort of rite of passage for celebrities. Hundreds of famous people have stopped by the now-famous desk to each some increasingly spicy wings while being interviewed by host Sean Evans. That includes dozens and dozens of rappers over the years. Most recently Cardi B took her seat on the show to discuss aliens, FDR, and many other subjects. Next in line to take on the interview challenge was Doja Cat.

Doja has had a strange few months in the public eye, but you can’t tell from her appearance on Hot Ones. In the episode, she handles her spice better than a lot of other interview subjects while flying through a variety of subjects. In the video, she discusses some of her favorite hip-hop legends like Missy Elliott and Busta Rhymes. She also once again explained her turn to a bald look, which has always been controversial with fans. And in one particular clip, she explained some of the “YouTube rabbit holes” she’s fallen into during her long-running internet addiction. Check out the entire interview below.

Doja Cat On “Hot Ones”

Last month, Doja Cat released her new album, Scarlet. The album debuted in the top 5 on the Billboard 200 pushing 72k units in its first week. While those are only modest numbers by pop star standards the Hot 100 is where she’s really dominated. Her single “Paint The Town Red” has been on the very top spot for three non-consecutive weeks since it dropped as a single earlier this year. It’s on the top of the chart this week holding off songs from SZA and Taylor Swift.

Doja Cat has been showing off her internet addiction to fans for months. She’s been frequently taking to Instagram to address controversies, start new controversies, and share various news with fans. What do you think of Doja Cat appearing on Hot Ones to discuss her internet addiction? Let us know in the comment section below.

Doja Cat To Be The Newest Guest On Hot Ones

Doja Cat, for better or worse, has been a hot topic over the past few months. We say better or worse because there is a huge divide on where people stand on the California artist’s latest regime. If you have not been keeping up with Doja, she has been going through a change in her mindset, as well as her appearance and behavior online. She got into it with some fans on Twitter about not loving her fans. The artist responded by saying that she does not really know them, therefore she cannot display those strong emotions.

It continues from there, with her new hairdo and posts on Instagram. She has a buzz cut and the things she is uploading have been left field. Lots of random imagery and talk about the devil and demons has been a common theme. Because of all of this, many are upset with how she is changing. This could be the reason why her latest record, Scarlet, which addresses a lot of these topics, saw a slightly disappointing first week of sales. However, her music seems to resonate with quite a few people still. Her hit “Paint The Town Red” continues to dominate the charts and was the first rap song to go number one this year.

Doja Cat’s Interview Should Be Interesting

All of this and more should be discussed in her episode of the hot-wing eating show, Hot Ones. Hosted by Sean Evans, Uproxx shared that it will premiere on October 12, which is this Thursday. Doja is also fresh off of her performance at the VMAs a few weeks ago, so there is more than enough to delve into. We are sure that there will be plenty of ensuing storylines from this sit-down.

What are your initial thoughts on Doja Cat being the next guest of Hot Ones? Do you think this will be one of the biggest interviews the show has ever had? How do you believe the interview will go? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. With that in mind, be sure to leave all of your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest breaking news around Doja Cat, as well as the rest of the pop culture world.

Doja Cat Will Be The Latest Artist To Challenge The ‘Wings Of Death’ On ‘Hot Ones’

Over the past few months, Doja Cat has become as reputed for the rollicking rollout of her new album Scarlet as she is for her dismissively witty lyrics. But no matter how spicy her rhymes or comebacks to fans’ criticism have gotten, there’s still one thing spicier: The hot sauce lineup on Complex‘s wing-themed talk show, Hot Ones.

It was only a matter of time until their paths crossed, and this week, Doja will finally take on the “wings of death” across from Sean Evans as she attempts to answer deeply researched questions with her lips, tongue, and throat burning from Da Bomb. The show’s been on a bit of a … well… hot streak of late, catching Cardi B nerding out about WWII history and Justin Timberlake doing his best to explain his lyrical delivery on one NSYNC’s biggest hits that led to an annually popular meme.

You can only imagine, with Doja Cat’s love for chaos, how truly off-the-wall her interview has the potential to get. Although Evans usually throws softballs, he’s still got plenty of (cough cough) hot topics to discuss with the rapper, from her decision to shave off her hair and eyebrows to the reception her new tattoos have received to her past as a true-to-the-heart battle rapper. So, while he probably won’t ask her about some of her weird associations with alt-right figures, she’ll still have to sweat it out as Evans grills her about her career so far.

The new episode of Hot Ones premieres on Thursday.

Cardi B Explains Why She Doesn’t Make Music About Her “Pain” & “Struggles”

Cardi B says that she’s not interested in making music about her “pain” or “struggles” and instead wants it to “just be about fun.” She discussed the idea of handling more serious topics during an interview on Complex’s Hot Ones.

“A lot of people tell me I should put my pain, my struggle, in my music,” Cardi began. “A lot of my pain, or struggles, or whatever the crap is going on, the masses might not be able to relate. The masses might not be able to relate. Like it’s like, oh my gosh, they’re tearing a new asshole on Twitter on me because I said this, this, and that.”

She continued: “The average person is like, ‘Girl! Shut up! I gotta work at 7 AM in the morning.’ I gotta do this, this, and that. So it’s like, I don’t really like to make music — like I would normally do an intro, like I would just literally like to make my intro of everything — addressing all the bullshit, addressing the bitches, addressing the shit I gotta go through, and then just the whole album, just be about fun.” Check out her full appearance on Hot Ones below.

Cardi B Discusses Her Music While Eating Spicy Wings

The comments come as Cardi gears up for the release of her long-awaited sophomore album. During an interview on Ebro in the Morning, earlier this month, she told fans not to hold out hope for a release by the end of the year. It’s been over five years since her debut, Invasion of Privacy, back in 2018. She dropped the fourth single from the project, “Bongos,” featuring Megan Thee Stallion on September 8th. Be on the lookout for further updates on the album in the coming months on HotNewHipHop.
