Kanye West & Ty Dolla $ign Heading To China For Next “VULTURES Listening Experience”

The VULTURES tandem is going to be traveling back to Asia for another one-off show. According to HipHopDX and NFR Podcast, Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign are going to be providing Haikou, China with a VULTURES Listening Experience. The former of the duo was the one to announce this news, however, the post is not on his Instagram anymore. Hopefully, that means that it wasn’t already canceled. But until September 15 comes around, we are going to assume that it’s still on their schedule. Obviously, these one-night performances have seen their fair share of alterations. The most of recent of which was Taiwan and that was supposed to take place on August 25.

Without any explanation, it was axed. Additionally, several others in the U.S. were taken off the calendar in late March. Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Washington DC, North Carolina and Florida were all taken off ticket buying sites. Additionally, some of the venues made sure to announce the cancelations on their social media accounts. Even though there have been tons of setbacks, Kanye and Ty have been performing more times than not this month.

Kanye West & Ty Dolla $ign Are Returning To Asia

On top of their Utah outing, South Korea received one of the biggest set lists we have ever seen. Ye shared the 54 songs he played on his IG, and it was essentially a 20-year career medley. He also made headlines from the East Asia venue for shockingly dedicating a song to Drake mid-performance. Furthermore, he shared some strange, dystopian-like images with the caption, “Where to next”. Well, we know now its Haikou, China and it will be interesting to see what stops the duo pulls out in a few weeks.

What are your thoughts on Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign announcing a VULTURES Listening Experience in China for next month? Do you think he will perform even more songs when he goes to Haikou? Are either VULTURES projects in your rotation in any capacity? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. Kanye West And Ty Dolla Sign Drop Moody Music Video For “SLIDE”

Kanye West can’t go more than 48 hours without a controversy it seems. The rapper was already been criticized for the messy rollout of VULTURES 2. A rollout that was months and multiple album versions in the making, mind you. Then it was suggested that West was addicted to nitrous gas, which is a story that has effectively drowned out anything that was on VULTURES 2. Despite the seemingly constant barrage of problems, Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign are forging ahead. The duo have decided to drop a music video for the first VULTURES 2 single that was released: “SLIDE.”

Let’s get the obvious points out of the way. Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign do not appear in the video for “SLIDE.” There is no performance element to the song, or famous faces scattered throughout. Instead, the video presents a single, unbroken shot of a camera moving down a city street. We see a woman in lingerie, we see homeless people in tents. We also see a vulture at one point, which, sure, why not. It’s suggested that the street in question is in a red light district, but other aspects of the video, like cars on fire, don’t exactly vibe with the theory. Overall, it feels very much cut from the concept of “No Church In the Wild,” which is to say, societal chaos.

Kanye West And Ty Dolla Capture Societal Collapse

It’s a cool video, even if it doesn’t align with Kanye West or Ty Dolla Sign’s lyrics. “SLIDE” sees West rap about impossibly wealthy parties and sexual conquests during his first verse. “Headed to the high-rise. Cruisin’ like Eyes Wide Shut (Get up),” he spits. But I slide in it like a drive-by. The industry don’t like me, tell them p**sy n**gas likewise (Get up). They tried to hit me with the cyanide.” Ty Dolla Sign’s hook is more of the same. Kanye West hasn’t provided much context about the inspiration for the song, either. When he played it during a November DJ set, he merely said: “This is madness for me, I made this with my brother Ty a few months ago.”

It’s difficult to imagine the music video for “SLIDE” will do much to boost VULTURES 2 album sales. The album pulled in 107K album equivalent sales first week, which marks the lowest first week numbers for a Kanye West album ever. The reviews have been even worse. Fans have chastised West for dropping the album despite it not being close to finished. Several tweaks have been made to the final mix, but rather than intrigue listeners, the way it did when West tweaked The Life of Pablo, it has irritated.

Kanye West’s “VULTURES 2” To Debut At Number Two On Billboard Charts

We’re hoping VULTURES 2 is the wildest album rollout of 2024. We can’t imagine an album being more scattered and confusing than this, much less conceive of an artist who could get away with it. The album has been a talking point for all the wrong reasons, between streaming removals, sample clearances, and the rumor that Kanye West used AI to complete his verses. All that said, VULTURES 2 has sold decently well. Chart Data has dropped the first week numbers for the anticipated sequel, and it’s set to do better than expected.

The outlet reports that Kanye West and Ty Dolla’s Sign’s joint album will sell 83K units in its first week. That’s good enough for a number two spot on the Billboard 200. In a separate tweet, Chart Data noted that the number two debut will end Kanye West’s streak of having albums top the charts. To make things even worse, Taylor Swift will be the artist who ends it. Swift will continue to hold down the top spot with her most recent album, The Tortured Poets Departments. As we previously noted, Swift put out four new versions of the album on August 8. Innocuous enough on the surface, but fans were quick to point out the fact that West dropped four versions of VULTURES 2 the same day.

Kanye West Sold Under 100K First Week For The First Time

Fans will never know for sure whether Swift was trolling Kanye West with her rollout. That being said, the VULTURES sequel would have struggled regardless. Ye’s album sales have been steadily declining in the last few years. Jesus Is King and DONDA sold 264K and 309K first week, respectively. VULTURES was a significant downturn with only 148K units sold. VULTURES 2 is the first time Kanye West’s career that he has failed to sell at least 100K in the first week. That said, album sales appear to be the least of the star’s worries these days.

Kanye West took to social media on August 8 to blast Atlantic Records over their business tactics. He said that the label was threatening to take both VULTURES albums down from all streaming platforms. “40% of all revenue from V1 and V2 needs to be paid to Atlantic,” the rapper claimed. “If we don’t handle immediately Atlantic will issue take downs for both albums.” West then likened himself to an indie artist, and continued to release new music throughout the day. “This is what ‘they’ do to independent artists,” he added on his IG Story. We will have to wait and see where the VULTURES 2 story goes next.

Kanye West And Ty Dolla Sign Drop Bonus Track “Take Off Your Dress”

Has there been a more chaotic album rollout? Kanye West continues to raise the bar when it comes to releases that are messy, confusing, and tedious. He dropped VULTURES 2 after months of delays, and now he’s tweaking the song mixes in real time. He also saw fit to drop off a bonus track titled “Take Off Your Dress.” The song is only available for purchase on Yeezy.com. Streaming complications aside, the latest collaboration between Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign is undeniably strong. “Take Off Your Dress” rides a wildly catchy sample to success. It would have improved the standard version of the album.

“Take Off Your Dress” is built around a sample of “Please Make It Good Again” by Talmadge Armstrong. Kanye West is one of the revered beatmakers in hip-hop history, especially when it comes to chopping up soul samples. Unsurprisingly, he excels here. The song manages to generate resignation and weary regret thanks to its slowed drum pattern. The sample keeps the momentum going, though, as do the verses. Kanye West drops some ridiculous bars about getting FaceTime “in person,” and references a classic Lil Uzi Vert song in the process. It’s not terribly lyrical, but it’s fun. Ty Dolla Sign really steals the show towards the middle of the song, though. The R&B singer digs deep, and his vocals deliver on the kind of searing emotion that the original song suggested. He might’ve gotten Ye on this one. We win either way.

Portishead’s Geoff Barrow Calls Out Kanye West And Ty Dolla Sign Over Unauthorized Sample Use On ‘Vultures 2’

Kanye West (Ye) and Ty Dolla Sign surprised fans with their spontaneous release of their latest album, Vultures 2. But the body of work’s arrival isn’t the only thing to shock the public.

Yesterday (August 3), Portishead’s Geoff Barrow was annoyed to learned that the duo sampled the group’s song “Machine Gun” without permission. Over on X (formerly Twitter), Barrow called out the duo for featuring its revered instrumental break on the Vultures 2 track, “Field Trip,” which features Playboi Carti, Don Toliver, and Kodak Black.

“For f*ck’s sake,” he wrote. “Not again 🤷🏼‍♂️.”

Users online chimed in to encourage Barrow to take legal action.

“Dude, you need to sue the f*cker,” wrote one user.

“Jeezus, that’s not even sampling, they just used the entire song for a backing track for some sh*t karaoke. Zero creativity,” penned another.

“Now that’s just a blatant ripoff, and you deserve to be compensated,” added another.

“Make them delete the whole album 💯💯💯,” demanded another.

However, not everyone shared the same sentiments. Fans of Ye, begged Barrow not to take things to court.

“Don’t sue Ye, this song is amazing, let us have it man😭🙏🏻,” wrote one user.

“You should’ve said something after the first listening party it was previewed at bro 😭😭 we finally got the music and now you wanna take it away,” added another.

“Better to ask for forgiveness,” chimed another.

Ye has reportedly already been hit with several copyright infringement lawsuits from past projects, Donda. Even Vultures 1 was surrounded with sample clearance issues (from Donna Summer’s estate to Ozzy Osbourne). But based on Barrow’s response, this is Ye’s second time ripping off his past work. Could this be his legal breaking point?

Kanye West And Ty Dolla Sign Drop “SLIDE” As First “VULTURES 2” Single

Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign have been teasing VULTURES 2 for months. It’s getting hard to keep track of all the release dates that have come and gone since March. The duo promised to drop the anticipated sequel on August 2, but the day came and went with nothing. Or so we thought, late on Friday night, the duo shocked the world by dropping “SLIDE.” The purported lead single from VULTURES 2, the song was uploaded to Yeezy.com before making its way onto Tidal. After all the hype and build up, we’re happy to say the new single is actually pretty good.

“SLIDE” has much sharper production than was showcased on VULTURES 1. The creeping strings that open the song are cinematic in scope. Especially when they contort and eventually transform into the main part of the beat. Ty Dolla Sign kicks things off with a slick verse and chorus before handing things off to Kanye West. Ye is charismatic as ever, with bizarre bars about Eyes Wide Shut and how much the industry hates him. The drums get a little loud during the verse, which leads to a little bit of clipping, but the overall vibe remains untarnished. Then, out of nowhere, James Blake enters the fold. Blake and Ty Dolla Sign harmonize to bring the song to an appropriately dramatic close. Kanye West delivered with flow and production. Here’s hoping he delivers the rest of the album.

Kanye West Didn’t Drop “VULTURES 2” And The Internet Is Devastated

Kanye West is the rapper who cried wolf. He has said some outlandish things during his time in the spotlight, but he can’t seem to help himself when it comes to false release dates. VULTURES 2 was supposed to drop back in March. Then, it got pushed back. April, then May. No? Don’t worry, Kanye promised fans that August 2 was the day. Well, August 2 has arrived, and still, no new album. He has gotten the hopes of fans up yet again, and they’re not happy.

The August 2 release date was always sketchy. Yeezy.com was wiped clean, and the only page on the site read: “ALL ORDERS FULFILLED VULTURES 2 COMING AUGUST 2ND.” Seemed pretty clear that the album was going to be released. Then, the page with the release date disappeared. Within a few hours, though, the “AUGUST 2ND” was wiped from the site. The bit about orders being fulfilled remained, but suddenly an early August date seemed as unlikely as the dates that preceded it. Turns out, the skeptics were right. It’s been six months since VULTURES 2 was originally supposed to drop, and Kanye West has yet to deliver.

Kanye West Fans Doubt The Album Will Ever Drop

To say that fans were angry would be an understatement. It felt like everybody was waiting for the clock to strike midnight so they could voice their frustration. The usual batch of memes were posted. We got to see Jesse Pinkman yell “He can’t keep getting away with this” a couple dozen times. The thing that was distinct, though, was the sense of predictability. Fans knew that the odds of getting VULTURES 2 were slim, and are accepting the idea that it may never be released. “Initial thoughts,” one user sarcastically tweeted. “VULTURES 2 didn’t drop.”

The disappointment was more evident than ever, too. One user articulated a feeling that seems to be running throughout most of the Kanye West fanbase. “It’s a really sad feeling to not care about potential album drops from your favorite artist anymore,” they tweeted. “I forgot that VULTURES 2 sh*t was even happening. If it does drop it’s gonna be sh*t anyways, his pen game fell off so hard.” Keep scrolling to read more social media reactions to the delay. Do you think Kanye West will eventually drop the album? Let us know in the comments, and check back later for more music/pop culture news updates.

Mustard Drops His Best Album Yet With “Faith Of A Mustard Seed”

Mustard’s hit-making ability cannot be questioned. He was one of the producers who defined the sound of the 2010s. He has too many classic singles to count. That being said, Mustard’s propensity for singles extended to his albums. He had solid solo outings, but nothing that lived up to his one-off collabs. Until now. Faith of a Mustard Seed, Mustard’s fourth album, is his best yet. The Los Angeles producer finally put together all the pieces and delivered a project that’s catchy as it is cohesive and consistent. There are legitimately too many standout moments to catch in one sitting.

Kirk Franklin provides a spoken word intro, and once the album gets going, it doesn’t slow down. “Up Down” chops up an 80s synth line into a superhero theme for the likes of Lil Yachty and 42 Dugg. The next track, “Pressured Up,” goes full G-funk with menacing verses from Vince Staples and ScHoolboy Q. Quavo and Rob49 help Mustard switch things up yet again with the string-heavy street anthem “One of Them Ones.” The Travis Scott-aided single “Parking Lot” is still one of the best songs here, but it’s a testament to Mustard’s sequencing that the sample-driven banger fits in with the rest of the material here. The album’s slower moments also stick the landing. Ty Dolla Sign sounds perfect on “A Song for Mama,” while Blxst skates over “Worth a Heartbreak.” There’s not a weak link in the tracklist, and that includes Mustard’s own bars on the epic closer, “Pray for Me.” Mustard is not only still here, but he may be entering his prime.

Ty Dolla Sign & Kanye West Announce “Vultures 2” Listening Party In Taiwan

There are long album rollouts, and then there are Kanye West album rollouts. The Chicago rapper has become infamous for making announcements he never follows through on. Vultures 1, the collab album he dropped with Ty Dolla Sign in February, was supposed to be the first in a trilogy. There’s been radio silence with regards to Vultures 2 and Vultures 3, though. Until now. Ty Dolla Sign dropped a bombshell on July 25, and it came in the form of a single image. According to the singer, Vultures 2 is going to be played in full in August.

Ty Dolla Sign posted the promo sheet for a listening party taking place on August 25. The party will be held in Taiwan, and is being billed as a “listening experience.” Both him and Kanye West are credited on the promo sheet above the title “Vultures.” At a glance, this looks to be another listening party for the first album. There was a similar announcement made for a “listening experience” in Korea on August 23. Ty’s caption, however, says otherwise. “V2,” he wrote alongside the sheet, confirming that he and West are finally going to unveil the second album in their trilogy.

Ty Dolla Sign Claims That Vultures 2 Is Completed

For context, Vultures 2 was supposed to drop back in March. The original concept was that the three albums would drop in consecutive months, building to Vultures 3 in April. Obviously, none of this came together. Kanye West has been sidled with one controversy after another, and Ty Dolla Sign, seemingly, has no clue on when fans will get to hear the albums. He told XXL that Vultures 2 could drop “any day now” back in May. More recently, the singer told Billboard that all of the songs for the album have been completed.

“We got all the songs,” Ty Dolla Sign confirmed. “Basically, it’s just like, ‘How can we get it there? How can we go bigger than the first album?’” Dozens of songs have leaked on line in some form or another, including anticipated collabs with Young Thug, Lil Wayne and Kid Cudi. A new release date has yet to be offered by either Ty or Kanye West. That being said, listening parties for the new album is an extremely good sign. Maybe the Vultures trilogy will be completed after all.
