Twitter Struck With Lawsuit, Sued by Landlord For Missed Rent

Twitter has been slammed with a lawsuit by a commercial landlord following a breach of contract. This comes after the company had reportedly failed to pay rent for its office space in San Francisco at 650 California Street. 

Although this space is not the company’s headquarters, reports have circulated last month stating that Twitter’s new owner, Elon Musk, had put rent payments to a halt on the company’s office spaces globally. Musk reportedly further told employees to cease payments to company vendors to further cut costs following his acquisition of the company at $44 billion. 

The complaint was filed last week in California Superior Court in San Francisco, and alleged that the company missed a payment of $136,260 for the California Street office’s rent. Consequently, the landlord provided Twitter with a notice on December 16th, allowing five business days for payment until falling into default. 

The complaint requests that the court force the company to pay for its unpaid rent, interest on rent, and the landlord’s legal fees. Complainant, Columbia REIT – 650 California, LLC, oversees various properties across New York, San Francisco, Boston, and Washington, DC.

Real estate attorney, Daniel Bornstein, represents property owners in tenant-landlord disputes, and stated that such a complaint could be the first of many if other financial obligations of the company are foregone at Musk’s discretion. However, some property owners might not be keen to push Musk, given his global status and class. The company proves to be a profitable renter, regardless of whether payments are on-time or forced. Unfortunately, landlords face the risk of abandonment of the rented spaces if they push the Twitter owner too far, which could result in an extended vacancy that would cost more than the pushing is worth. 

Addressing the previous week’s complaints, Bornstein notes that Columbia chose not to ask the court to evict Twitter, although the complainant maintained the option to do so. Such a move suggests that the landlord still finds value in renting their property out to Twitter. “What Elon may be doing by not paying the rent is signaling that he is actually interested in renegotiation of the terms of the lease agreement,” Bornstein said.

Professor of Law at the University of Richmond, Carl Tobias, explained the lawsuit reflects natural consequences of the Twitter owner’s withholding of payment. “The litigation is a normal and expected action to occur when a tenant has a lease and does not pay rent required by a valid contract with the landlord,” Tobias said. “These types of disputes often settle without provoking litigation, so as to avoid litigation costs and bad publicity.” 

He further added that it would be expected of a landlord in this situation to seek further payment than unpaid rent, such as legal fees and interest, when all resources to seek payment have been exhausted.

21 Savage Wants His Body Frozen Until 2121

21 Savage seemingly wants to test the waters of cryopreservation in hopes of still being alive in 98 years.

While everyone rang in 2023 on Saturday night, it appears that 21 Savage was pondering about how to remain alive until the year 2121. The rapper took to Twitter on New Year’s Eve, hours before the clock struck midnight, to express his desire to experiment with cryopreservation.

“I Just Want To Be Alive For 2121 Somebody Freeze Me Right Quick,” he wrote.

Now, it’s unlikely that 21 is actually willing to freeze his body with hopes of being resurrected in the future. However, there are many scientists hoping that this could become a reality in the future.

Cryonic preservation is the process of freezing corpses at very low temperatures. Cryonicists hope that scientific advancements could repair dead bodies. Walt Disney became attached to rumors that he underwent this process.

If 21 Savage were to survive another 98 years to see 2121, he would be 129 years old.

In related news, the rapper’s coming off of an excellent year that found him collaborating with two legends. In November, he teamed up with Drake for their joint project, Her Loss. The two revealed plans to tour together in support of the album, which followed Drake’s Certified Lover Boy and his foray into dance, Honestly, Nevermind. The project extended the pair’s track record together, which includes records like “Jimmy Cooks” and “Knife Talk.”

21 also collaborated with Nas following a brief controversy where the Atlanta rapper called the God’s Son MC irrelevant. The Hit-Boy produced, “One Mic One Gun” arrived a week after 21’s comments.

We’re excited for what 21 Savage has in store in 2023. It’s been nearly five years since he released his last solo album, i am > i was, though he’s dished a few collab efforts since.

LaKeith Stanfield’s Baby Mama’s Blasted Him In Old Tweets

Sometimes, good news comes with some bad news as well. LaKeith Stanfield recently proposed to his girlfriend, but 24-year-old artist Tylor Hurd said that he is her daughter’s father. Moreover, she said that he’s been absent from her daughter Apollo’s life. Afterwards, old tweets of hers resurfaced that give credence to her confession.

However, it all started with an Instagram post she made sharing a TikTok of her maternity. In the clip, the Atlanta actor made various appearances, whether it was dancing with the child or holding her up. “Decided to leave being someone’s secret family in 2022,” she captioned the post. “Meet Apollo Stanfield.”

After many criticized her for sharing this bomb right when Stanfield proposed, she explained her situation. “Just to clear a few things up, I’m not jealous that he’s engaged to a woman he’s known for five months. I tried to meet the girl and everything and she ignored me when I tried.

“What I’m upset about,” she continued, “is that he’s made more time to spend with this woman than he’s spent with Apollo her whole life, and has been actively ignoring me when I’m trying to figure things out for our child. And those clips of him and her together are all I have in general cause he barely sees her.”

Furthermore, Hurd’s old tweets contain similar grievances and frustrations. Specifically, people are pointing to a December 23rd tweet from before this was all revealed.

“Dating a man with kids and being okay with him choosing holidays with you over his kids and y’all only been dating for 4 months says a lot about you not just him,” she tweeted. “Y’all both trifling.”

While this came about a week before the revelations, the big news didn’t come with a lack of details. Subsequently, Hurd (also known as 730t) tweeted some more about the relationship.

“I really feel a weight lifted off my shoulders,” she wrote. “Finding out the man you had a baby with is the worst person you ever met is heartbreaking fr.”

“He’s not a good dad lol i can count on my hand how many times he’s been with my girl,” she continued. “I got a job and he agreed to get the nanny never got the nanny. I always did my part and always tried to give him grace.”

For what it’s worth, Stanfield responded in since-deleted comments to the ordeal. “Thanks for respecting my not wanting to blast my child out to the internet. Very considerate of you,” he wrote.

Hurd responded as well. “Value your privacy, is that why you lied to people saying she wasn’t your baby or that I was just a random? You value your privacy but your gf post everything y’all do lol okay.”

Finally, the Sorry To Bother You actor responded with, “I never once in life said she wasn’t my baby. I hope this does whatever it was supposed to do for you… My adult relationship privacy and children are two different things. I’m sure you realize that.”

Twitter Reacts To Jeffree Star Exposing The Illuminati

Jeffree Star caused a storm on Twitter yesterday (December 30th) when he claimed the Illuminati tried to ruin his life. Moreover, he said that he evaded the supposed world order for the last two years and that any challengers to their system are persecuted. Naturally, people had all sorts of opinions online, but they fell on feeds as fast as lead.

“What a crazy f***ing year…” he wrote in his first tweet. “I escaped the illuminati in 2021 and they still haven’t killed me. Every day I wake up grateful.”

Later, a user replied with “The elites are real. Kanye is in hiding because they are trying to get him for exposing a lot of s**t. Blood sacrifices are real. Stay safe Jeffree.” However, the Kanye connection is curious, as people started rumors of a romance between the two.

Still, Jeffree replied with “You have no idea what you are talking about… “It’s 10 times worse than you can ever imagine. Just be thankful you are on the other side.

Later, the 37-year-old wrote “In 2020 I was going to expose everything… In a matter of days, the Hollywood elite tried to ruin my entire career, villainize me and flooded the news with lies to discredit me. If you guys only knew the truth about what they are doing to Britney & Kanye.”

“Anyone who challenges the system gets eliminated,” he tweeted after. “I still have a soul. Can’t say that about a lot of these demons I used to surround myself with.” However, since that initial bomb, he let out some more thankful and positive messages.

Meanwhile, Star is no stranger to explosive revelations. He said that sex with other rappers and NBA players has been “great,” though he didn’t disclose any specific names. Still, it was enough to get people speculating.

The Millennium Tour star answered more fan questions during his Twitter session. One follower asked if he thought about mentoring young artists, like Snoop and Jermaine Durpri did for him early on in his career. “These new generation of artists is wild as f*** and they don’t listen.”

As for his super successful Millennium Tour, Bow says it took about a year to plan. “We was working on the turnd up tour while me and omarion was out together. So like a year.” With the success of the “Turned Up” tour, the rapper/actor plans to take the show on the road — literally. “No tour in the states,” he tweeted about upcoming dates. “I go over seas in Jan.”

When it comes to Shai, fans aren’t the only ones to catch wind of her talent. Back in September, Irv Gotti caught heat for reaching out to the tween about a movie role. When the DM didn’t work, Gotti hopped under Shai’s comment section regarding the role. “Hey Shai,” he wrote. “I tried to reach out to your mom and dad. Rap/pop superstar Lizzo (real name Melissa Jefferson) may forget the name of a fan, but she never forgets a tweet. She once turned a tweet from her friend Cardi B into a song, for instance. Now, she’s using the old tweets from a fellow musician to form a potential love connection.

Back in April of last year, Yung Gravy let the world know he wanted to explore a love connection with Lizzo, writing, “I wanna f*ck Lizzo so bad.”

Ensuring he was not hacked, the rapper followed up his initial tweet with, “Hell nah. I’m not hacked. Duster. Lizzo bad as f*ck.”

The “About Damn Time” singer used rapper Yung Gravy’s past public declaration to jump onto “The Mom Trend” on TikTok. The trend calls for users to show their mother’s personal style, then cut to their mother dressed in their child’s clothing. While at home with her mother, Shari Johnson-Jefferson, Lizzo uploaded the video with the caption, “Yung gravy [eyes emojis].”

Dressed in her daughter’s Yitty line red bodysuit, commenters immediately shared how the pair were nearly twins. The Emmy Award winner may be off the dating market, but she has no problem finding love for her mother.

Yung Gravy has shared his love of the trend as he has been open about pursuing older women, notably when he and Addison Rae’s mom Sheri Easterling had something going on earlier this year. However, he hasn’t responded to Lizzo’s video yet.

Serge Ibaka Goes After Kendrick Perkins Over Racist Trope

Serge Ibaka used to be teammates with Kendrick Perkins on the Oklahoma City Thunder. This was all at a time when Kevin Durant was just 23 and Russell Westbrook, as well as James Harde, were 22. Of course, this team never won a title together, although they probably should have.

Despite this, Perkins seems to have some resentment toward the team. In fact, he made some weird assertion today that Ibaka was lying about his age when he played for the Thunder. Ibaka was 21 at the time, however, that did not stop Perkins from using a racist trope against Africans.

“Kevin Durant is only 23, Westbrook is only 22, Harden is 22, Serge Ibaka is 21, although he was probably 30 at the time because we know how certain individuals lie about their age,” Perkins said. Many realized that this had some weird racial undertones, including Ibaka.

Serge Ibaka Responds

While taking to Twitter, Ibaka made sure to tell Perkins that he did not appreciate what was said on the air. He noted that it is a negative trope used against African people and that he wishes people would be less ignorant. Furthermore, Ibaka called out Perkins for being a bad teammate.

“I count my blessings every day and I don’t usually react to comments about me. But It’s disappointing to hear someone I shared a locker room with spreading misinformation to be relevant and get views on TV and social media,” Ibaka said. “You can talk about my game If I don’t play well, I will never have a problem with that. But to talk extra for no reason is really not acceptable. It is disrespectful to me and I feel like it is disrespectful to many Africans who have to live with that unfounded accusation.”

Perkins clearly did not care all that much as he simply wrote back “Bro it was a damn joke. Stop being so damn sensitive.” As you can imagine, this is a comment that did not sit well with fans, who know that Perkins has gone too far on multiple occasions.

Overall, this is a bad look for the ESPN analyst, who has already said some questionable stuff in the past.

Playboi Carti Appears To Tease New Music On Twitter: “It’s Time”

Playboi Carti seemed to tease the imminent release of new music on Twitter, Sunday. He wrote to his more than two million followers that “it’s time.”

“love all my supporters,” Carti wrote on Christmas. “it’s time.”

“Hello Twitter,” he added in another tweet.

Fans of Carti’s music were ecstatic in response to the posts. Each tweet has racked up over 12 million views and 280,000 likes as well as thousands of retweets.

“I don’t know how much more my heart can take Mr. Carter,” one user responded.

Another wrote: “i dont care if jesus came down from the sky and told me this was true i still wouldnt believe you n***a.”

“Oh my god if Playboi Carti drops on Christmas tonight I’ll record a video of me rapping along to the entirely of whole lotta red but mute the music for you guys so it’s just me acapella,” another fan tweeted.

In addition to his tweets, Carti also reactivated his Instagram account on Christmas Eve. Using the account, he shared a screenshot of a play button over an equalizer image. He also changed the profile pictures on his social media pages.

Despite the numerous posts, as of Sunday night, Carti has yet to release any new music.

Carti’s posts come two years after he dropped his last studio album, Whole Lotta Red, on December 25, 2020. The project debuted atop the US Billboard 200 while earning 100,000 album-equivalent units. It features Kanye West, Kid Cudi, and Future.

Lupe Fiasco Says “F**k Kid Cudi For Life”

Even with the holiday season underway, some rap beef stayed raw this week. Lupe Fiasco answered a couple of questions on Twitter today, one of which related to his beef with Kid Cudi. In unfiltered fashion, Lupe Fiasco indicated that his beef with Kid Cudi is still as strong as ever. Cudder has yet to respond, although he had posted a prophetically anti-bad vibes message to social media just hours prior.

“We see some of the young guys saying “stop the violence” and squashing beef that had bloodshed,” a user asked Lupe. “You & Cudi possibly somewhere down the line next?” The Chicago rapper responded, “Never. F**k him 4 life.”

However, he didn’t stop there. When another fan pointed out that it seems many people don’t like the Cleveland native, Lupe elaborated. “Outside of his musical genius, fame and success. Cudi is a really sneaky punk b***h a** b***h…it’s not even that controversial or spicy of a take. His personal resume outside the spotlight is trash.”

Furthermore, the DRILL MUSIC IN ZION MC agreed with some comments doubting Cudi’s vibe. “I swear I’ve had this feeling about Cudi these last few years,” another tweeter wrote. “Outside of the music bruh gives off a weird ass vibe.”

“You can gone confirm that…on me,” Lupe said. “But if you rock with his music etc that’s cool…just know that Al Pacino ain’t really Scarface and your parents are Santa Claus.”

Finally, Lupe seemed to respond to people either disappointed with his words or defending Cudi. After all, he has a legion of fans and built up an incredible and influential career in the 2000s and 2010s. However, in Lupe’s eyes, it’s just the way he sees things.

“Dear Kids,” he wrote just an hour after his last Cudi tweet, “always call it like you see it. Respectfully, Lupe #AddValue.”

Still, for what it’s worth, the beef has been pretty one-sided. Cudi’s yet to respond, but his most recent social media post indicates that he likely won’t. Otherwise, it would mean Lupe brought him out of his peaceful mindset, which he elaborated in Instagram and Twitter posts.
