R Kelly has been trending on social media on Tuesday following the bombshell arrest of Diddy in New York City. Users on social media have been comparing the allegations against both of the singers, as prosecutors released the 14-page federal indictment against Diddy. In it, they accuse him of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking while detailing his alleged “freak off” parties.

On X (formerly Twitter), tons of users have been posting various memes about Kelly and Diddy while bringing other celebrities into the jokes as well. Jemele Hill took a more serious response to the trend, writing: “I know everybody is going to get these jokes off about Diddy, and by extension R Kelly, but think of the numerous Black women whose lives were ruined by these horrendous people. The narrative is not, another Black man got taken down — cause this ain’t got sh*t to do with Black men as a whole. The narrative is, thank God these women are finally getting the justice they deserve.”

Fans aren’t the only ones posting about Diddy either. Aubrey O’Day, who performed in Danity Kane for a number of years, said she feels “validated” by the arrest on X. She wrote: “The purpose of Justice is to provide an ending and allow us the space to create a new chapter. Women never get this. I feel validated. Today is a win for women all over the world, not just me. Things are finally changing.”

Social Media Responds To Diddy’s Indictment

The album won over some very respectable competition as well, including Summer Walker, Babyface, Coco Jones, and Emily King. However, the nominations do not stop there. She is also getting recognized by BET for the Best Female R&B/Pop Artist. With all of this well-deserved success, it seems to be trickling down to other areas of her career. For example, Victoria Monet is getting tons of praise for the music video for “Alright”.

One of the other hits from JAGUAR II, “Alright” has been a winner for Victoria Monet due to its bouncy and intoxicating vibe. Part of the credit goes to KAYTRANADA, who produced the banger. Compared to his actual criminal accusations and wrongdoing, a lot of people seemed to treat this supposed revelation as even more serious than these actually abhorrent allegations. If you want proof of this, look no further than DJ Akademiks’ recent interview with Quilly, in which the latter says: “I put him in position, no Diddy.” Moreover, if you didn’t catch the message, he’s using that last phrase as a replacement for “no homo,” and “No Diddy” is actually trending on social media at press time.

Furthermore, it’s unclear if “No Diddy” has a specific point or origin that isn’t this interview, although many are pointing to a BNYX tweet that was also among the first very popular uses of it alongside this clip. Odds are that it was anonymously contributed by a random online user who won’t go down in the history books due to a lack of credit. After all, plenty of social media trends are defined by unsung heroes, and it’s only when they’re huge that we can look back and try to find who was responsible. Regardless, there are also plenty of people who won’t buy into this trend because they believe Diddy did nothing wrong and is just the victim of false claims.

Earlier this week, Google released some information about the most searched terms on their platform this year. That included a specific section for music and musicians. While the top searches of the year feature the artists you’d expect like Taylor Swift, Bad Bunny, and Drake, the top trending searches sport some major newcomers. The trending search list aims to track artists who may have not had sustained high search numbers all year, but hit major peaks. That explains the inclusion of people like country singer Jason Aldean and 1975 frontman Matty Healy who had controversial moments this year.

Also among the top trending searches are two of the biggest breakout rap stars of the year. Ice Spice and Sexyy Red are probably the two biggest breakout rap acts of the year and they both turn up in the top 10. Red herself comes in at number 10 likely drawing attention for some of her hilarious public statements and controversial moments. Ice Spice on the other hand is all the way at number two. That isn’t all that surprising in a year where she made waves for collaborations with Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj and an appearance at the MET Gala.
