DJ Drama’s Toronto Trip Cost $120K Extra To Return Stolen Chains, Top5 Claims

Hip-hop heads were nothing short of shocked to hear about DJ Drama’s rumoured Toronto robbery this past weekend. The Generation Now founder has yet to address the gossip himself. However, a local rapper, Top5, shared a video showing several men in ski masks proudly waving what appears to be Drama’s jewelry around while shouting out Drake. Of course, the Gangsta Grillz creative and the Canadian have resolved their beef. Still, the incident still must’ve bruised his ego, nonetheless.

A few days after the news broke, it was revealed earlier today (June 13) that Drama’s chains are on their way back to him. It remains unclear how the negotiations worked out, or how peaceful they were. According to an Instagram comment from Top5 on DJ Akademiks’ post, the price he paid to have the ice back in his possession wasn’t a small one. “$120K for the chain back, that’s a good deal 😂😂,” he wrote.

The caption of the Toronto lyricist’s original post read, “For all you that don’t post my music, and don’t play my music 2023 your chains are getting snatched. @djdrama come get [your] chain back lil boy.” Clearly, there’s beef between the pair, though we’re unsure why Drama wouldn’t play Top5’s music. As you may recall, he was previously charged with first-degree murder in late 2021 after reportedly seeking revenge for his brother’s killing.

This obviously tarnished his reputation, and things have been relatively quiet on his end since. His last single, “401” with Pressa, arrived in 2022, as did “I Miss My Dawgs” featuring Iceman and Rico Bank$. We’re unsure if he plans to drop anything in 2023, or if he’ll stick to snatching chains instead. Do you think $120K is an outrageous demand for DJ Drama to get his jewelry back? Let us know in the comments, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

DJ Drama’s Stolen Chains Are Allegedly Getting Back To Him

DJ Drama faced a fair share of social media clowning over the weekend after video surfaced of robbers flaunting his chains. Apparently, they robbed the Philly multi-hyphenate for not “checking” when he visited Toronto, and later posted his chains online for the world to see. “That’s what you f***ing get for not checking in,” the men say in the clip. “Shout out boy Drizzy, eh. Triple Gs, you know how we rock.” It’s funny that they mention Drake, as the two allegedly had past beef and it’s unclear whether “checking” was the only motivation behind the robbery.

Regardless of all that, a new video that is buzzing around the Internet alleges that DJ Drama’s chains are on the way back to him. Furthermore, an Instagram account called @keep6ixsolid posted the clip in question. Hilariously, it also features the theme from The Godfather in the background. Whether he paid for the chains back or not, it’s still quite worrisome considering that we don’t know the full extent of the robbery. Maybe it turned more violent than threatening, so we hope that everyone involved is as safe and sound as the chains look.

Going back to that point about Drake, it’s interesting that it formed part of the conversation due to other recent events. Meek Mill, who also reconciled a beef with the 6ix God, recently took shots at DJ Drama, who was his former friend and collaborator. A lot of info exploded on his Twitter page, and he called Drama a “goofy over these h*es” among other jabs. “I asked Drama why he always speaking down on me with a few other words too, told him he’s a goofy,” he tweeted. “I also hit him when he tried to compare ‘Dreams And Nightmares’ to ‘[Just] Wanna Rock’ AND DOWNPLAY ME.”

“That man never did real charity in Philly in his life,” Meek continued his rant, among other tweets. “I just be saying bits parts online because it be too much to say… I be wanting it to be known when ion Rock wit these goofies … and I stand on my tippy toes when I see them so it’s no confusion before we even interact! ‘Drama queen over these females.’” For the latest news and updates on DJ Drama, log back into HNHH.

Drake Pens Farewell Message To Toronto Before Tour

It’s shaping up to be a wild summer for artist tours, with Drake and 21 Savage leading the way with their collaborative It’s All A Blur trek. Before kicking it off in Memphis, Tennessee in the United States on June 29th, though, Drizzy wanted to say goodbye to his home city of Toronto. After all, it’s his first North American tour since his 2018 journey with the Migos. While his latest Instagram Story didn’t make it clear why he was leaving a bit over two weeks before the tour starts, it did feature some heartfelt words towards the 6ix. In addition, a gorgeous picture of the city’s CN Tower, famously featured on the cover of his 2016 album Views.

“Goodbye my beautiful city,” Drake penned on IG on Monday (June 12). “I haven’t left for this reason in over 6 years but I hope I can make you proud once again. I love you all. Have an amazing summer and pls try to take care of each other. See you in October.” On the 5th and 7th of that month, he will close the tour out in Toronto, unfortunately without 21.

Drake’s Goodbye To Toronto (For Now)

However, even though these next few months will surely have him busy, Drake is still gearing up some heat in the studio, apparently. As if having one of the most commercially successful albums of 2022 wasn’t enough, the Canadian superstar seems to be tapping old friends back. He posted a picture of him and frequent collaborator Sampha on his Instagram Story. Furthermore, the two have a proven track record of great songs such as “Too Much,” “The Motion,” and Sampha’s solo (vocal) track on Drake’s More Life project, “4422.”

Meanwhile, Drizzy continued stacking up his list of dynamic duos since then, whether in the musical or romantic sense. For example, he seemed to confirm dating rumors with Lilah via Instagram as well, although that could just be chalked up to loving language and not an actual relationship confirmation. On the other hand, his bromance with Lil Yachty remains as strong as ever. For more news and the latest updates on Drake, keep checking in with HNHH.

DJ Drama Robbed In Toronto By Drake Fans: Report

It’s been a tough few weeks for DJ Drama. He was not only called “a goofy over these h*es” by Meek Mill, but also was the victim of an alleged robbery in Toronto. As AllHipHop reports, the Generation Now co-founder was visiting the 6ix when he failed to “check,” ultimately resulting in his chain seemingly being snatched. It seems that moment wasn’t caught on camera. Nevertheless, the thieves have since posted up on social media. In a viral video, they’re seen showing off the loot they claim to have taken from around Drama’s neck this weekend.

Adding insult to injury, the men praise Drake (who has past beef with the Philly native) in the obnoxious video. “That’s what you f*cking get for not checking in,” they indirectly tell Drama. “Shout out boy Drizzy, eh. Triple Gs, you know how we rock.” Neither the Canadian nor his former enemy have addressed the situation on Twitter. Still, users are certainly having a field day laughing at the situation.

DJ Drama’s Chain Allegedly Snatched in the 6ix

It’s worth noting that Drake and the Gangsta Grillz creative previously put an end to their feud. Hip-hop heads quickly realized this when they appeared on Jack Harlow’s “Churchill Downs” together. Things first became tense between the pair in 2015, when rumours stated that Drama is the one who told Meek Mill about his “R.I.C.O” collaborator apparently using a ghostwriter to pen the fan favourite. The incident put a major rift between Drake and the “Litty” rapper, though they later settled their differences publicly.

In other news, Champagne Papi hasn’t entirely managed to escape being embarrassed online lately either. During a live stream with Stake and Kick earlier this month, not only did the father of one’s credit card decline but he was also turned into a meme thanks to his questionable yellow nail polish. See for yourself at the link below, and make sure to check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

Duvy Facing Charges In 2022 North York Murder: Report

Little more than a year after delivering his debut album, GRASSWAYZ, CP24 reports that Toronto-based rapper Duvy has been arrested. The 21-year-old was taken into custody in connection with a 2022 fatal shooting in the city’s North York area. Police reports claim that on October 6, officers responded to a call at 5 Needle Firway around 1:40 PM. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and has since been identified as 28-year-old Osman Bangura.

Duvy appeared in court earlier today (May 27), but no further updates are available at this time. Investigating authorities are asking anyone with information to consider coming forward or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously. If the rising star did commit the crime, it would’ve taken place months after his 12-track, almost featureless debut hit DSPs. At the time, titles like “Clear the Spot,” “Shlime Talk,” and “Nightmare Z” were helping him make a name for himself amongst the other artists coming up out of the 6ix.

Duvy Charged in Osman Bangura’s 2022 Death

The only artist to appear on GRASSWAYZ alongside Duvy is Vory, who joined him for the opening track, “Thugz Don’t Cry.” Speaking with Complex about his album (which is based on his childhood), the former said, “It’s is a lot like every other neighborhood. It’s dangerous. There’s a lot of ups and downs. You see a lot of people change. But if you’re not from there, the only thing I would tell you is not to come here. You know what I mean?”

Prior to his arrest, the “Barcelona” lyricist had been delivering heat in 2023 as well. He teamed up with Waveroom and SDawg17shit for “Bloody Mary,” shared a solo effort, “Ladders,” and dropped off the deluxe cut of How Did I End Up Here in between. It remains unclear what the next steps in the ongoing murder investigation are, but the news certainly puts a hold on any big plans the Canadian may have had for the upcoming summer months. Were you a fan of Duvy’s debut GRASSWAYZ album? Let us know in the comments, or if you haven’t tuned in yet, check it out at the link below.

Drake Joins PartyNextDoor On Stage In Toronto & Confirms “PND 4”

It’s been a few summers without new music from PartyNextDoor but rest assured, his new album is on the way. The Canadian R&B star returned to History Nightclub in Toronto for his homecoming show, which led to a Drake cameo. The OVO Boss sang PND’s praises during a brief freestyle while he was on stage. “I’m going on tour but Party droppin’ PND 4,” he sang to the audience to applause. Between speculation of Scary Hours 3 and a new PND project, it sounds like the OVO clique will hold us down for the summer.

PartyNextDoor has been ramping up the anticipation for his forthcoming album for a few months now. In late 2022, he popped up with the release of OG Parker for “No Fuss.” Then, he joined forces with Diddy for “Sex In A Porsche,” leading to the release of his first solo single since 2020, “Old Friends.” Fans have been demanding the album’s release, which Party further hinted at on Instagram ahead of his homecoming concert last night. Hopefully, we won’t have to wait much longer for PND4.

Drake Confirms “PND 4”

As they performed together for the first time in ages, Drake ensured that he gave PartyNextDoor his flowers on stage in front of their hometown. “First of all, can I just say on behalf of everybody in this room, can you come home more, please? Please!” Drake began. “I would not be the artist I am if it wasn’t for you. And that’s not like even some like I get on stage with people and I’m nice sometimes but this is really actually, like, my favorite artist in the world and I love this guy.”

Hopefully, we’ll be getting a new collaboration from the two of them this summer. On stage, Drake proclaimed that he already heard PND 4 in its entirety, adding that it was going to be “one of those summers.” PND released his last project, PartyMobile in 2020, featuring singles like “Loyal” ft. Drake and “Believe It” ft. Rihanna. We’ll keep you posted on any further updates surrounding PartyNextDoor’s upcoming album. Check out Drake’s cameo at PartyNextDoor’s concert above.
