Drake Puts On Surprise Performance During Latto’s Toronto Concert

Drake is the King of Toronto. The rapper has helped give the city a musical identity, and his co-sign will always mean a lot when artists come through and perform. This has been evident with Nicki Minaj, with PARTYNEXTDOOR, and now with Latto. Drake attended Latto’s Toronto concert on November 7, and his mere presence delighted both the rapper and the audience. It got even more exciting, though, when the 6 God decided to bust out in song during the concert.

Drake was handed a microphone, and he performed his Latto collab “Housekeeping Knows” alongside the rapper. It was a fun impromptu moment, especially since the Toronto icon never even left his seat in the audience. The 6 God merely stood up and spit his bars right where he was. He appears to be having a blast before handing it off to Latto to finish the rest of the song. Drake and Latto have been admirers of each other’s music for quite some time. Latto praised Drake (along with Kendrick Lamar) for helping to revive competitiveness in hip hop earlier this year.

“They both still that n**ga, they both still the GOAT,” Latto told Billboard. “That sh*t fye for the culture, bruh. They both so talented, and they both on they high horse flexing their talent and capabilities.” Latto has also received Drake comparisons over the years. Most notably, on her new album, Sugar Honey Iced Tea. Fans came out of the woodwork to label the album “Drake-coded,” and felt Latto had taken the mantle of female Drake. Some even branded her the first lady of OVO, despite the fact that she isn’t signed to the Toronto label.

Latto has not shied away from these comparisons. When one Twitter user cited her as an example of the 6 God’s influence, she agreed. “Drake the GOAT,” she tweeted in response. It has definitely benefited her in the long run. “Housekeeping Knows” cracked the Hot 100, making it Latto’s tenth single to make it on the charts. The fact that Drake showed up to perform and lend his support also says a lot. He will usually only show out for longtime collaborators. Hopefully we get more Drizzy and Latto collabs in the future.

Drake Shows New Side Of Himself While Performing At Toronto Jazz Club With His Dad

While Drake has a PARTYNEXTDOOR collab album dropping very soon, he’s still exploring other sonic directions and staying versatile as a performer. However, this new and small detail took many OVO fans by surprise, as we’ve never heard its mogul in this zone before. He recently went to a Toronto jazz club with his father Dennis Graham to briefly perform alongside Shane Philips and his band, hitting some bluesy and soft vocal notes before handing the mic off to his dad’s more booming voice. It’s almost a surreal clip, but not one that should really take us by surprise. After all, the Grahams are a very musically diverse crew.

Hopefully Drake taps into this sound and approach more, given that his vocals provide a unique take on these jazz/blues standards. It’s kind of similar to what he’s done on tracks like “Bahamas Promises,” but without the overt R&B/soul reimagining that those kinds of tracks have always championed. Instead, hearing the 6ix God throw things back even further would be something pretty special and refreshing, which might be exactly what he needs right now. He’s already expanding into Mexican regional music, so let’s hope he keeps it up.

The last time we saw Drake at a Toronto club was under much more bittersweet circumstances. “One things about Nostalgia, this party here?” he told the crowd during a recent appearance at the city’s annual Nostalgia party. “”My real friends are definitely in the building. But I’m going to tell you. You’re going to come to a point in life where people you thought were friends or people you thought were close to you, they might switch up.

“They might try to move funny with you,” Drake continued. “They might stab you in the back, they might do a lot of things to you. You’ll come to that realization, wherever you’re at in life. You’ve probably been there and you’ll be there again, that’s how life is. But look, sometimes, it’s you and you alone by yourself. Sometimes it’s you alone with your thoughts.” Amid all these forlorn feelings, maybe he could tap into the blues and find a new way to express himself.

Drake Airs Out Fake Friends At Toronto Club After Future, Rick Ross & Kendrick Lamar Battle

Drake has some things to get off his chest. He recently pulled up to the Nostalgia nightclub in Toronto to have a good time, and even grabbed the mic to share some words as the crowd talked over him. Of course, you probably didn’t even need to read this headline to take a guess at what the 6ix God was talking about. Whether it’s long-standing on-and-off-again rivalries like The Weekend, blindsided switch-ups like Future, or his contentious cold war with Kendrick Lamar, he has a lot of “fake friends” to air out scathingly within the hip-hop industry and even beyond.

However, not every open wound in Drake’s life is getting lemon squeezed over it right now. Kanye West recently thanked Drake at his show in China for writing the chorus to “Yikes.” Their rivalry has also taken a lot of twists and turns over the years, and we doubt that process is over. With that in mind, even though this looks nice, we doubt that the Toronto superstar took it kindly.

Even LeBron James is allegedly anti-OVO these days, a speculative theory that both Drake himself and his hardcore fans are making mountains out of molehills with. Yet this new rant begs a question. Will we ever really find out what happened behind the scenes with all these industry relationships? We have no idea, but odds are that fans will theorize over this for decades to come.

Kendrick Lamar Associates Respond To Top5’s Threats: “Come Find Out”

Earlier this week, Top5 was set free after beating a murder case. The Toronto rapper had been behind bars for his alleged involvement in Hashim Omar Hashi’s 2021 shooting. “An innocent man just came home,” he told reporters following the ruling. “I hope they find whoever they did that. R.I.P.”

Top5 proceeded to share a celebratory post on Instagram, in which he thanked those who helped him along the way. This included Drake, who he alleged covered his legal fees. He later deleted any mention of Drake. Top5 also spoke with DJ Akademiks and Adin Ross for one of his first post-prison interviews and had some menacing words for Kendrick Lamar and his friends.

“I’m looking for Metro Boomin and Kendrick Lamar. I’m doing my homework right now, I’m doing my task on them. Nothing incriminating, I’m just looking for them,” he said. “I want Metro Boomin one on one. I don’t want no weapons, nothing. I’d knock him the f*ck out. Kendrick Lamar, you passed the border. Chubbs called me.” This prompted responses from some of Kendrick’s affiliates, including Hitta J3. “Come find out then,” he wrote simply before sharing a clip that appears to show Top5 getting pushed out of a Toronto restaurant. “This the tuff guy yall talking bout,” he added.

Smac also chimed in on the FMW podcast recently, making it clear that he’s not worried. “F*ck you and Toronto, Top5. You ain’t gotta come find us, we’ll find you, b*tch. I’m on that muthaf*cka. Come to L.A., we’re gonna shut you down, b*tch,” he said. “We’re gonna smack the f*ck out this p***y b*tch. We stand on business. N***a gonna slap him. F*ck him, f*ck Toronto, f*ck Top5, f*ck his sister, f*ck his daughter. He threatening us, it’s all off the table now. Top5 Flaunts Luxury Watches After Allegedly Beating Murder Case With Drake’s Support

Earlier this week, Toronto rapper Top5 beat a murder case and was set free following his 2021 arrest. He had been in custody for his alleged role in the shooting of Hashim Omar Hashi. At his most recent hearing, a judge dismissed social media evidence, ruling it inadmissible. “An innocent man just came home,” Top5 told reporters outside of the courthouse. “I hope they find whoever they did that. R.I.P.”

Shortly after his release, Top5 took to Instagram to celebrate, thanking those who helped him along the way. Apparently, this even included fellow Toronto artist Drake, who he alleged covered his legal fees. This is unconfirmed, and the post was later edited to remove any mention of Drizzy.

Now, it looks like Top5 is making the most of his newfound freedom. In a new clip shared by 2Cool2Bl0g, he’s seen showing off his three new luxury watches alongside New York City-based celebrity jeweler, Benny The Jeweler. It’s unclear exactly how much the high-end pieces cost altogether, but it’s safe to say it wasn’t cheap. Obviously, Top5 hasn’t wasted any time getting back to his normal life. While many can’t blame him, some are still skeptical about how he’s chosen to operate since his release.

Recently, for example, he sat down with DJ Akademiks and Adin Ross for a controversial interview after getting out of jail. During it, he appeared willing to fight Kendrick Lamar and Metro Boomin. “It’s not a threat, I’m just looking for Metro Boomin and Kendrick Lamar,” he said at the time. “I’m doing my homework on them right now, doing my tasks on them right now. Drake Meets Up With Adin Ross At Toronto Night Club

Adin Ross, whether you love or him or hate him, has built quite a sturdy foundation for himself. The live streamer is easily one of the biggest in the world and he’s also got tons of high-profile connections. Just last month, he got to speak with Donald Trump with a small in-person audience of supporters of the former POTUS. There’s even a slight chance he may get to chat with Trump in The White House. In addition to presidential candidates, Ross also is one of the streamers that gets early access to preview tracks from rappers. Because of this, he’s been able to develop some close relationships. If you have been paying attention to Adin Ross, you may know that he loves Drake.

Throughout the highly publicized beef between him and Kendrick Lamar, the content creator was always backing The Boy. Furthermore, they have been seen calling each other on multiple occasions on his streams. Now, though, things are getting personal, but not in a bad way. X (Twitter) account Kurrco reposted a video from some club-goer who happened to be at the same Toronto spot as Drizzy and Adin.

In the clip above, you can see them walking through a horde and everyone seems to be in awe of their presence. There are quite a few taking video and snapping some pictures, assuredly to flex on their friends who didn’t come out. Then, at the end of the clip, a girl’s mouth is on the floor due to how excited and shocked she was to see both of them. With this link up we can only assume that these two talked about doing an in-person live stream in the near future.

Toronto Femcee Lady SB Hit With Human Trafficking Charge

Toronto rapper Lady SB is one of five individuals recently charged with human trafficking in Toronto, per local outlet CTV News‘ Wednesday (September 18) report. Moreover, this apparently followed five months of joint investigation with other authorities until the arrest of these folks for their alleged involvement in crimes across the Greater Toronto Area. According to Halton Regional Police, this group “maintained control, direction of influence over the victims” through coercion, force, manipulation, and abuse from September of 2019 up until their arrest. The other accused individuals include Prince Munroe (another rapper called Casino Barnes), Jamie Munroe (apparently Prince’s brother), Jonathan Bennett, and Shuwayne Mitchell.

Furthermore, police have not specified the amount of alleged victims of this supposed human trafficking scheme at press time. They did, however, execute search warrants in Toronto and Brampton and arrest Lady SB and her alleged associates on Tuesday (September 17). In addition to arresting these individuals, they also seized a “large sum of cash,” a loaded firearm, ammo, a prohibited magazine, a vehicle, and some documents that identified some of the alleged victims. Each suspect is between 25 and 35 years of age, coming from Brampton, Mississauga, Shelburne, and Ontario.

Lady SB Arrested For Human Trafficking

As for Lady SB, she along with the Monroes face multiple charges including trafficking in persons, promoting sexual services with full knowledge, and assault. On the other hand, Bennett and Mitchell received one charge each of procuring and exercising control over the procured. The court has yet to test these charges, and they all remain alleged as of writing this article. According to CTV News, investigators also warned that there could be even more alleged victims out there that they have yet to investigate or identify.

Meanwhile, Lady SB had told No Jumper back in 2023 about her sources of income, which made many raise their eyebrows at the time and especially now. She didn’t provide many details on how she makes her money, but she did allude to some illegal activity throughout and recalled a previous gun charge. Still, this might just be a huge reach, so we have to wait for what the court has to say.

MackWop Is Worried About Other TDE Artists Performing In Toronto After ScHoolboy Q & SiR’s Concert Cancelations

MackWop, a producer known for working with artists from TDE, has addressed ScHoolboy Q and SiR both having their concerts at a Toronto venue canceled in recent weeks. He gave his take on the situation during his YouTube show The Apollo, as caught by HipHopDX. The cancellations have led to a viral rumor that Drake was behind both moves. He famously has been feuding with former TDE star Kendrick Lamar.

“That n***a SiR got his show canceled in Toronto, no cap. SiR got his show canceled at the same f*cking venue that we was gonna perform at. Word around town is Drake is in cahoots with this venue,” MackWop began. “He designed the whole venue, he probably got a little equity in the venue. I’m not sure.”

From there, he said it’s been tough for any artists who appeared at Lamar’s The Pop Out to keep a show in Drake’s hometown. “But any n***a that was on that Pop Out stage, they’re getting canceled,” he remarked. “What I’m suggesting is: nobody perform at the History ’cause they will cancel your show if Drake don’t like you. I think that’s janky.” MackWop also brought up DJ Scheme playing Kendrick’s Drake diss track “Not Like Us” at the same venue: “If they knew them n****s weren’t f*cking with Drake, they would have canceled that show.”

ScHoolboy Q Invites TDE Artists To His Show After Latest Toronto Cancelation

TDE and Toronto are not getting along these days. The record label has had multiple shows canceled since Kendrick Lamar triumphed over Drake in their culture-shaking battle. ScHoolboy Q was the first, and most notable, given how much he had to say about the cancelation on Twitter. SiR fell victim to a similar fate, however, on July 30. The R&B singer confirmed that the Toronto venue he was slated to perform at pulled out at the last minute. ScHoolboy Q had a lot to say on the matter, and decided to invite SiR to his own show in Phoenix, Arizona.

“Phx tonight,” the rapper tweeted. “It’s sold out if u got sumtHin FROm BLUE LIPS SHOW and I’ll put 20 ppl on list.” ScHoolboy Q then shouted out his fellow TDE artists, and the strife they’re going through in Toronto. “@SiR u sHould slide bro,” he wrote with a laughing emoji. “Bring @zacarip.” SiR and Zacari are the resident singers on the TDE label, with the latter serving as SiR’s opening act on tour. Q is making it clear that he’ll be more than happy to have them at his show, since Toronto doesn’t want them at their designated venue.

ScHoolboy Q Hinted At Drake Being Responsible

This isn’t the first time ScHoolboy Q has commented on SiR’s Toronto troubles. Q was in stitches as soon as the singer confirmed the cancelation. “Hahahahahahahaha,” he wrote. “Take yo a*s home boy. Sing on the bus it’s ova wit.” This, of course, is referencing the theory many fans have put forth, which is that Drake is keeping TDE artists from performing in his own city. ScHoolboy Q alluded to this when his show was canceled on July 18. Q also noted that OVO artists have been allowed to perform in L.A. without issue.

The most ironic part of the whole Toronto saga was the tweet that SiR made after ScHoolboy Q’s show got canceled. He quote tweeted a fan who voiced concern that SiR’s show was the next to be taken off the Toronto venue’s list. “My sh*t ain’t canceled,” he assured the fan. Sure enough, the singer’s show suffered the same fate as his TDE label mate. He even called back to the tweet, and made light of the situation. “This sh*t didn’t age well at all….,” he tweeted.

SiR’s Toronto Show Cancelation Leads To Speculation That Drake Is To Blame

SiR is the latest TDE artist to have their show in Toronto canceled with short notice after ScHoolboy Q suffered a similar fate, earlier this month. A reason for SiR’s cancelation wasn’t given, but he says the decision was from the venue. Expectedly, the situation has caused fans to theorize that Drake was behind the move following his viral feud with Kendrick Lamar.

“This sh*t didn’t age well at all….” SiR joked, resurfacing his original post. In another, he confirmed: “So sorry to my Toronto fans. The show has been cancelled. We’re working on rescheduling for a later date..” When fans began theorizing the cancelation could have been due to low ticket sales, SiR clarified that it was a sold-out date. “For those wondering, we sold that show out. It was cancelled by the venue. Not sure why. My apologies again to those that came just to see me,” he wrote.

ScHoolboy Q responded to the announcement, writing: “HAHAHAHAHAHHAAHHAHAA TAKE YO ASS HOME BOY.. SING ON THE BUS ITS OVA WIT.” Fans shared their takes on the situation in the replies. “If a n***a got enough influence to get you barred from a country and you can’t do the same to him, I’m afraid that he may actually be more important outside of social media lol,” one user wrote. One more wrote: “Toronto still banning TDE is the lamest thing I read on here [crying emoji] this is super petty.”
