Condolences to Tina Knowles, who is mourning the loss of her brother, Rowland Martin Buyince. Rowland went by the name Butch and was 77 years old at the time of death.
“My Beautiful big brother Butch went to be with God this weekend,” Knowles wrote on Instagram. “I will miss him so much! He was a career Airforce man.”
Tina Knowles has confirmed that her brother, who is also Beyonce’s uncle, Rowland Martin Buyince, has passed away. She reflected on his death in a lengthy tribute on Instagram, on Sunday night. He was 77.
“My Beautiful big brother Butch went to be with God this weekend. I will miss him so much!” she captioned the post. “He was a career Airforce man. He loved riding Motorcycles was a black Belt in Karate and had the most beautiful green eyes and good looks, He was a great story teller, He had an incredible wife Jeanette and devoted daughter Dana two beautiful grandchildren Yvette and Roland, He was greatly loved. Sail on Butch. Rowland Martin (Butch) Buyince’ June 1946 – Feb 2024 RIP.”
The loss of her uncle comes as Beyonce prepares for the release of her next album, Act II. To promote the project, she dropped two singles which see her branch out into country music, earlier this month. Tina Knowles explained that her family has always been involved in “Cowboy Culture” on Instagram afterward. “We have always celebrated Cowboy Culture growing up in Texas. We also always understood that it was not just about it belonging to White culture only. In Texas there is a huge black cowboy culture. Why do you think that my kids have integrated it into their fashion and art since the beginning. When people ask why is Beyonce wearing cowboy hats? It’s really funny, I actually laugh because it’s been there since she was a kid, we went to rodeos every year and my whole family dressed in western fashion. Solange did a whole brilliant Album and Project based on Black Cowboy Culture. It definitely was a part of our culture growing up,” Knowles wrote on Instagram.
Beyonce discussed her battle with psoriasis during her new interview with Essence ahead of the release of her new hair care line, Cécred. In doing so, she reflected on her father applying various treatments to her scalp when she was a child.
“I have many beautiful memories attached to my hair,” Beyonce told the outlet. “The relationship we have with our hair is such a deeply personal journey. From spending my childhood in my mother’s salon to my father applying oil on my scalp to treat my psoriasis— these moments have been sacred to me. The conversations and debates in the salons and barbershops create a sense of community for the people who look to it as a retreat from their everyday lives. For them, it’s a place to feel beautiful and vent, laugh, share secrets and pass down wisdom. It’s the most consistent community gathering we have. It’s so important that it’s a sanctuary.”
She continued: “I think that connection of community, mother and child, father and child, and respect— and allowing yourself to be taken care of, especially for Black women, who are always taking care of everyone else—it’s all sacred. So I took the end of my name, Cé, and made it the beginning of the word sacred to create Cécred. From my mother’s salon, daily rituals with my father, and years of experience in developing a hair care line, the journey has been just that: Cécred.” The full interview with Essence will hit shelves on February 27th.
Elsewhere in the interview, Beyonce spoke about her nightly hair routine, the target audience for Cécred, and more. It comes as she prepares for the release of a new country album, Act II. She already released two tracks in that vein with “Texas Hold ‘Em” and “16 Carriages.” Be on the lookout for further updates on Beyonce on HotNewHipHop.
Beyonce posed with her mother, Tina Knowles, as well as her children, Blue Ivy and Rumi, for a new interview with Essence. While the full issue will be available on shelves on February 27th, the publication shared the digital version on its website, on Saturday.
The majority of Beyonce’s interview with Essence centered around the release of her new hair care line called Cécred. At one point, Beyonce recalled going to the hair salon with her mother as a kid. “I have vivid memories of my mother working as a hairstylist right from our home,” she said. “She built a small salon at the back of our house, and I can recall catching glimpses of her while I watched cartoons or played with my dolls and toys. These moments are etched into every corner of my childhood memories. I saw her shampooing and trimming hair, transforming women, leaving them feeling really good. Looking back, it was more than just a hair appointment—it was therapy.”

Tina Knowles has penned an insightful musing on “country culture” amid the wild success of Beyonce’s “Texas Hold ‘Em” single. It definitely was a part of our culture growing up.,” Knowles wrote on Instagram.
Furthermore, Knowles’ words were accompanied by a slideshow highlighting the families pre-existing ties to the country. This included professional photoshoots and candid images of the family. Additionally, Knowles included several recent articles about the topic. This includes the viral piece by Taylor Crumpton for TIME – “Beyonce Has Always Been Country”.
It is is all but confirmed at this point that Beyonce is doing a full country album. However, some credit should go to the BeyHive for their diligent detective work before the singer’s various announcements. Like the best conspiracy theories, fans have seemingly pulled this idea out of the most tenuous crumbs. First, there is Beyonce’s “country-inspired” Grammys outfit. This included a chequered duster and bright white Stetson. Then there is the fact that Beyonce’s website lists Renaissance as officially Act 1 – Renaissance. This has reignited the idea that Renaissance is meant to be the first part of a trilogy. This means there is allegedly two more albums of new music from Beyonce. Finally, there is a line that has resurfaced from her 2019 song “Black Parade. To many fans, the line “I’m going back to the South, where my roots ain’t watered down” is an indication that Beyonce is “going country” (just look at them boots).
However, there have been previous rumors about the contents of Renaissance’s second and third acts. A now-deleted tweet from Kyle Buchanan at the New York Times appeared to indicate that “Act 2” would be an acoustic album while “Act 3” would be a fully collaborative album with JAY-Z. However, neither claim was addressed by the singer’s camp. For the time being, fans will have to wait and see if Beyonce does indeed go the Lana Del Rey route and drop a surprise country album.
The beauty of social media is that it allows humans to connect in constantly evolving, creative ways, no matter where they are in the world. Still, its detriment is how easily it can be used to stalk or keep tabs on people. Whether it be your latest crush or the celebrity you love to hate, the temptation is always there. The latest star to fall victim to the internet sleuths is Beyonce’s mother, Tina Knowles. She got caught liking a shady post targeted at Janet Jackson recently.
Users creeping through the Texas native’s likes saw that she seemingly agreed with another account unimpressed with Janet’s tour prices being similarly priced to her daughter’s. “You want Beyonce prices, have real production. Just disgusted. I’m not the only one… oh the DMs I’m getting. Way to thank your fans for years of support,” the message in question says. After hearing the internet’s theories about drama unfolding between Lawson and Jackson, the former got on Instagram to clear the air.
“I am saddened by this. Janet Jackson is an icon and I would never question another artist. I took Destiny’s Child to see Janet when they were 15 years old,” Queen B’s mom wrote. “They always looked up to her and she opened doors for Beyonce. Why would I hate on her? I know now not to be in a rush and to be very careful. (I learned my lesson)! Especially when I have so much going on. I just wanted to clarify. I do know that you can see people’s likes so I would be pretty [foolish] to do that .”
No matter what anyone has to say about her ticket prices or music, Janet Jackson continues to draw massive crowds decades deep into her career. Amid annual festival lineups hitting the internet, R&B lovers are enthused to see that the former child star is among those performing at Lovers & Friends this year. Tina Knowles is her daugher Beyoncé’s biggest fan, and she always comes through on social media to praise and defend her. However, according to some social media sleuths, it seems like her latest instance of doing so came at the expense of another musical legend. Moreover, fans noticed that Tina liked an Instagram post complaining about how Janet Jackson’s ticket prices were far too expensive for the show length and experience that a concert-goer would get. In particular, this was notable because the IG user compared these financials to that of the Destiny’s Child singer’s recent RENAISSANCE tour.
“What a joke…” user @let68 captioned a screenshot of Janet Jackson’s $2,000+ Meet & Greet & VIP Lounge Packages. “They add $1000 for a 15 second meet & greet again. No front row for fans unless you want to bend over so they can continue to rake in the cash. You want Beyoncé prices, have real production. Just disgusted. I’m not the only one… oh the DMs I’m getting. Way to thank your fans for years of support.” If Tina Knowles’ response to the RENAISSANCERotten Tomatoes score is any indication, it’s that she will always champion her daughter above all else, even with other strong competitors.
“I’ll repeat Janet Jackson isn’t here to prove anything Ms Tina Knowles classless a**…” one particularly angry fan wrote of this post from @let86, who continued their remarks in the following additional comments. “And why do people keep trying to call out my friend Tina for liking my post. People out here making comments agreeing with me but nobody calls them out [crying-laughing emoji]. And let’s not forget… Beyoncé gives you almost 3 hours. Janet gives the minimum hour and a half.”
Meanwhile, Janet is as beloved as ever, so we’re sure that many of her admirers won’t be happy with Tina’s apparent shade. Still, it’s also very reasonable that she’s just speaking on the actual show organizers and the logistics, which the singer might not have much control over. Hopefully this clears up so that both fanbases don’t have to pick and choose between true icons. On that note, log back into HNHH for the latest news and updates on Tina Knowles and Janet Jackson.
Over the weekend, Knowles celebrated her daughter’s Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé release with several “Proud Mom” Instagram posts. And one of her captions hinted that Beyoncé might already be working on a new album.
“Last one about the Rotten Tomatoes!” Knowles captioned a screenshot of the 100% Rotten Tomatoes reviews of the concert movie. “Just saw this !! When you see how hard someone works and all the sacrifices they make because for the last month my child was in a studio almost 24 hours a day I was with her most of that time sleeping in the studio! She only went to take her kids to school to shower and come back.”
She continued, “There are only a few people that understand how hard she works ! how she works on every single thing that goes out in a movie or a video or a tour . #that is why I ride so hard for her !!! She deserves every [accolade] that she gets.”
Whether Beyoncé is actually preparing another album is anyone’s guess. Renaissance arrived in July 2022 as her first solo LP since April 2016’s Lemonade, a substantial gap.
It’s worth noting that Beyoncé initially billed Renaissance as a “three-act project” in a statement on her website around its release. She also shared that she had recorded it all “over three years during the pandemic,” so it would seem that she already has two more releases in the vault ready for release.
That said, a generational artist like Beyoncé never rests, so maybe she’s in the studio still tweaking the other two parts? Maybe she’s recording another album entirely? Or maybe she’s just wired to work on music around the clock regardless of if anyone else hears it? History would suggest Beyoncé will let us know what she wants us to know precisely when she wants us to know it, and not one second sooner.
Tina Knowles says that Beyonce spent the last month in the studio for “24 hours a day.” She reflected on the “sacrifices” her daughter has made during a post on Instagram, on Saturday. In doing so, she shared the Rotten Tomatoes scores for the singer’s new concert film, Renaissance: A Film By Beyonce.
“Last one about the Rotten Tomatoes! Just saw this !! When you see how hard someone works and all the sacrifices they make because for the last month my child was in a studio almost 24 hours a day I was with her most of that time sleeping in the studio,” she wrote. “She only went to take her kids to school to shower and come back.”
Tina Knowles & Tyler Perry Attend Premiere Of “Renaissance: A Film By Beyonce”
Knowles continued: “There are only a few people that understand how hard she works! how she works on every single thing that goes out in a movie or a video or a tour. #that is why I ride so hard for her !!! She deserves every accolade that she gets.” It’s not the only time Knowles has come to Beyonce’s defense in recent days. She also called out critics of her outfit to the premiere of Renaissance: A Film By Beyonce. Check out her latest post on Instagram below.
Renaissance: A Film By Beyonce hit theaters, on Friday, and is on pace to dominate the box office in its first week. It opened with $21 million over the weekend, making for the biggest release on the first weekend of December since Tom Cruise’s The Last Samurai in 2003. Be on the lookout for further updates on Beyonce and Tina Knowles on HotNewHipHop.
Tina Knowles took to social media to celebrate the RENAISSANCE concert film garnering a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes. “Just realized that 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes!!! That is huge!!! Please repost! This is history! Sooooo proud!!!” Knowles wrote in one post. “Last one about the Rotten Tomatoes! Just saw this!! When you see how hard someone works and all the sacrifices they make because for the last month my child was in a studio 24 hours a day. I was with her most of the time of that time sleeping in the studio! She only went to take her kids to school, to shower, and then come back. There are only a few people that understand how hard she works! How she works on every single thing that goes out in a movie or a video or a tour. That is why I ride so hard for her!!! She deserves every acolade that she gets,” Knowles added.
Renaissance: A Film By Beyonce is expected to be the best film of the weekend. Today, the AP reported that the film opened to a $21 million domestic weekend. That would mark the best December opening for a film since the 2003 Tom Cruise vehicle The Last Samurai. With its projected opening, Renaissance tops the charts over Godzilla Minus One, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Snakes & Songbirds, and Napoleon.
However, not everyone is celebrating the release of Beyonce’s film. Videos of fans in Israel celebrating the release of the film has led to criticism for Beyonce online. People have claimed that Beyonce’s film opening in Israel is inherent support of Israel by Beyonce. Despite this, people have argued that Beyonce is likely not in control of the film’s distribution. Instead, it’s more likely that Beyonce has a distribution agreement, most likely with AMC. As a result of this, the film may be shown in controversial places, such as Israel.
This week saw the end of a number of temporary ceasefires between Israel and Palestine. With the end of the ceasefire, Israel has commenced a heavy bombing campaign against targets in the southern Gaza Strip. The area has becoming increasingly dense as Israel has consistently ordered evacuations from the northern Gaza Strip in recent weeks.
