Miguel owned Billboard‘s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart from 2011 to 2012. “Sure Thing” became his first-ever No. 1 on the chart in May 2011, and he hit No. 1 again as the featured artist on Wale’s “Lotus Flower Bomb” that December and with his own hit “Adorn” the following year. SZA’s “Kill Bill” currently reigns atop the chart, but Miguel has accomplished a surprising re-entry.
According to Billboardon Thursday, January 12, Miguel’s “Sure Thing” sits at No. 20 on this week’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart with 8.4 million official US streams netted in the week ending January 5, with credit given specifically to TikTok.
TikTok had the same charting impact for The Weeknd’s “Die For You” on this week’s Hot 100 chart, cracking the top 10 for the first time despite releasing six years ago. A similarly delayed revelation is happening with Lady Gaga’s “Bloody Mary,” landing at No. 68 this week.
Per Billboard, “Sure Thing” is also re-emerging on other charts — leaping from No. 143 to No. 69 on the Billboard Global 200 (21.2 million global streams) and debuting at No. 134 on the Billboard Global Excl. US chart.
Lil Uzi Vert dances to a snippet from one of his unreleased songs in a new video posted to TikTok that is circulating on social media. In the clip, Uzi shows off stacks of cash while surrounded by two of his friends.
In the song, Uzi raps, “I bought my main bitch a Cullinan/I bought my other lil’ bitch a lil ‘nother Benz/Runnin’ these tracks, like I am a running man/Throwin’ my hands, we turn to the stunner man.”
While Lil Uzi Vert hasn’t confirmed when the unreleased snippet will be shared as a full song, he did recently say that he is planning on dropping new music in February. While speaking with fans on Reddit, he provided an update on when they can expect to hear from him.
“That’s why I’m dropping in February… New shit, new sound, no mid,” he wrote at the time.
The last time Uzi dropped a full-length project was his nine-track EP RED & WHITE in 2022. His last official studio album came in 2020 as Eternal Atake. That album reached No. 1 Billboard 200 project with 288,000 album-equivalent units. A week later, he dropped a deluxe version titled, Eternal Atake/LUV vs. The World 2. The project also landed at No. 1 with 247,000 equivalent album units.
If Uzi’s new music in February is just a single, it will be his first since “Just Wanna Rock.” He released the song back in October after similarly teasing it in TikTok posts. The track landed on HotNewHipHop’s list of the best songs from 2022.

Over the weekend, The Weeknd commemorated one year of Dawn FMwith a video for “Is There Someone Else?.” Coupled with the video’s release was this tweet: “I wonder… Did you know you’re experiencing a new trilogy?” Before we walk with The Weeknd into an enticing future, there’s reason to revisit his past.
Billboardrevealed its newest Hot 100 chart (dated January 14) today, January 9. It’s unsurprisingly that Taylor Swift’s “Anti-Hero” has returned to No. 1 for a seventh total week after debuting there in late October, but it is surprising to see The Weeknd’s 2016 Starboy hit “Die For You” at No. 8 — which is now his 16th top-10 single on the chart.
“The Weeknd’s ‘Die for You’ vaults 26 to 8 on the Hot 100, led by 67.3 million in airplay audience (up 3%) and 9.9 million streams (up 10%),” the publication additionally relayed. “The song hits the Hot 100’s top 10 over six years after its original release on The Weeknd’s album Starboy, sparked by interaction on TikTok (which does not presently contribute to Billboard‘s charts). That buzz helped lead to the song’s airplay promotion and prominence, as the track holds at its No. 4 Radio Songs high.”
“Die For You” by @TheWeeknd reaches a new peak of #8 on the Hot 100 this week, over 6 years after its release.
The Weeknd owns six career No. 1 Hot 100 singles, including the record-breaking “Blinding Lights” and “Starboy” (the latter featuring Daft Punk). Fellow Starboy track “I Feel It Coming” (also featuring Daft Punk) peaked at No. 4 on the chart.
“Die For You” isn’t the only The Weeknd song in this week’s Hot 100 top 10, either. His collaborative track “Creepin’” with Metro Boomin and 21 Savage, off of Metro Boomin’s December No. 1 albumHeroes & Villains, sits at No. 6. It peaked at No. 5 last month.
A new TikTok trend has killed off many of your favorite very-alive celebrities, and Angela Bassett, unfortunately, was caught in the chaos. There are several trends on the popular app that gain worldwide attention, but when people began killing off the rich and famous, some people didn’t appreciate the viral moment. Recently, we reported on Angela Bassett’s 16-year-old son Slater getting caught up in the trend. It resulted in his tearful apology after tricking his mother into believing Michael B. Jordan had died.
As we recall, Bassett and Jordan famously starred together in the Black Panther films. Slater filmed his mother’s shocked reaction to learning that someone she considered family was allegedly no longer alive.
When it was revealed that Slater was pranking the Waiting to Exhale icon, he soon returned with an apology video.
“I apologize to Michael B. Jordan’s entire family, his extended family, and him directly as he is an idol of mine,” Slater said in his clip. “Taking part in a trend like this is completely disrespectful. I don’t wish any bad ramifications upon his family nor my parents, as they deserve none of the backlash.”
While at the Palm Springs International Film Festival’s Creative Impact Awards, Entertainment Tonight spoke with the actress about the controversy. It seems as if it’s something that she’s also ready to put behind her and her family.
“We all make mistakes, own up to them, take responsibility. Then hold your head up and move forward,” Bassett said.
Meanwhile, although Jordan hasn’t said a peep about the Bassett controversy, he does have big plans on the horizon. It was announced last week that on January 28, he would act as the host of Saturday Night Live. The musical guest for that episode will be none other than Lil Baby.
North West and Kim Kardashian have been very active on TikTok lately, often posting funny videos and dance routines on the social media platform. But this time around, the 9-year-old is having a viral moment after dressing like her dad Kanye West.
Wearing makeup that gave her a bearded look with thicker eyebrows, North essentially became Kanye’s twin in the transformation. She offered her best Kanye impression as she folded her arms while rocking a black hoodie and beanie hat.
With “Bound 2” playing over the video, Kardashian posed in the background of the clip before putting her arm around her daughter.
As with most of their TikTok videos, the comments were turned off. Still, many took to Twitter to express their opinion of the short video, which currently has over 43 million views.
Writing on Twitter, one user commented, “Y’all…north west’s latest TikTok???? I’m WHEEZING.”
“She looks just like her dad this is hilarious,” another tweeted.
“No north is not on tik tok dressed up as kanye w kim in the background lip-syncing to bound,” someone else added online.
Last November, it was revealed that Kardashian and the Donda rapper had finalized their divorce after originally filing in February 2021.
After tying the knot in 2014, the former couple welcomed four children together: daughters North, 9, and Chicago, 4, along with sons Saint, 7, and Psalm, 3.
Following their separation, it was reported that the two would share custody of their kids.
Reports also found that Kardashian would be receiving $200K in monthly child support payments. Further, Kanye would be “responsible for 50% of their kids’ educational expenses, including tuition. He’s also responsible for 50% of their children’s security expenses.”
What are your thoughts on North and Kardashian’s latest TikTok? Tell us your thoughts in the comments.
As the eldest of the Kardashian-West children, North has spent more time in the spotlight than any of her siblings. Her earliest years were documented on Keeping Up With the Kardashians. Now, the world has been watching the young girl grow up via her joint TikTok account with her mom.
In the past, the 9-year-old’s social media use has been a source of contention between her parents. The reality starlet encourages her daughter to have fun and express herself in creative and silly online videos. At the same time, Ye has been more focused on protecting his children’s privacy and innocence.
During a recent appearance on The goop Podcast, Kim and Gwyneth Paltrow had a candid conversation about navigating the online space as a parent. “[TikTok] can only be on my own phone,” the mother of four told the actress of her rules with her kids.
“It’s not something where she can scroll and look at things,” Kardashian went on. “We don’t do comments. She loves to do it and it makes her so happy. She’s so innocent in so many ways,” she additionally noted.
While the blocked comment section leaves some TikTok users disappointed, North’s content has been undeniably impactful over the past few months – especially when one is in need of a quick laugh or a feel-good moment.
In one of her recent videos, the internet sensation turned her little sister, Chicago West, into her mini-me.
Following suit of those who have been participating in the “turning my mom into me” challenge on the app, North put her own spin on it by styling her sibling as her.
Initially, we see the 4-year-old sporting a Batgirl costume and checkered Vans. When she returns, however, she looks just like big sis, rocking a black graphic tee, printed shorts, and rectangular sunglasses.

TikTok is an ever-changing platform with trends that are impossible to keep up with. It’s hard to tell who started what because trends spread so rapidly. However, in a new interview with Kick Game, Jason Derulo is trying to take credit for not just a TikTok trend, but the entire transformation of the app.
Derulo discusses how it started off as a dancing app, and it wasn’t until he “started to introduce other things” that it changed. He explained that he noticed young people were using the app, and he wanted to check it out, but he didn’t start until the pandemic when he had time on his hands. He currently boasts 56.8 million TikTok followers.
“I had fun with it, honestly. It was a dance app at first. It being a dance app, I felt like, I don’t know if this is gonna work. Everybody doesn’t like to dance,” he said. “So I was like, ‘Let me start posting other sh*t.’ I tried to post a photo, that didn’t work. People was like, ‘What the f*ck is this?’ Then I started to post random story-like videos. That didn’t work.”
He continued, “What worked was when I was posting things that was more fun. Things that showed another side of me, you know what I’m saying? I was like, ‘Okay, this is a moment where I can be a leader and do something that’s totally different on the app.’ I think it changed the app forever because TikTok used to be just a dance app, and it wasn’t until I started to introduce other things that it became the app that it is today. And to this day, TikTok pays me…” He was about to share a dollar amount, but instead said, “Let me not say that.”
When pressed for specific tips for going viral on TikTok, Derulo emphasized that “lighting is everything” and “be organic to yourself.”

Over the years, there have been plenty of women with claims of being intimate with Drake. The internet is a wild space for sharing tales involving encounters with celebrities. At every turn, you can find an everyday person who alleges they had some eventful time with one of our favorite stars. This week, a TikToker went viral with her story about Drake, but the rapper has emerged to shut it down.
A woman claimed that Drizzy “flew [her] out” after seeing that she tagged him in a sexy photo on Instagram. “So, he had texted me in vanish mode,” she said. According to the woman, Drake asked for her phone number and dropped the “heart eyes emoji.”
She said she got on the phone with the Her Loss hitmaker, and he made it clear that he wanted to see her.
“So, he had booked my flight for November 16. Mind y’all, we textin’, talkin’, all of that, November 13,” she alleged. “He had sent a private [jet] out to get me. But before I got inside his house, they made me sign an NDA. So, I can’t really say too much, but I looked at my NDA rules, so I know what I can and can’t say.”
The story takes all sorts of twists and turns from this point forward. The storyteller said Drake rubbed her stomach and asked if she wanted children. After detailing an alleged sexual experience, the woman’s video went viral, and she became the talk of social media.
Typically, we’ve found that Drake often ignores the mania in these cases. However, he decided to step forward with a flat-out denial.
The rapper wrote, “Never met. Never spoke. Never flew.” He added, “I hope people start doing more with the one life we are given sh*t is sad out here.”
Meanwhile, social media users noticed the woman’s original video has been taken down. It doesn’t look like she’s reacted to gaining Drake’s attention just yet. The woman doesn’t seem to like that Akademiks shaded her on Instagram. Check that out below.
