The Alchemist Predicts That Kendrick Lamar Will Drop An Album In 2024

The Alchemist is immortalized in rap battle history. He provided the beat for Kendrick Lamar’s “Meet the Grahams,” one of the most chilling disses ever recorded. He didn’t realize it would be a diss when he first made the beat, but that’s irrelevant now. The Alchemist is team Kendrick Lamar. It’s this association that led TMZ to question the producer about Dot’s upcoming release schedule. The outlet wanted to know if The Alchemist had the inside scoop on a secret album.

The Alchemist started his interaction by showing love to Lamar. He also gave a shout out to the work of a fellow producer, DJ Mustard, on “Not Like Us.” He described the diss as a “big record” worthy of number one single status. Alc then addressed the possibility of Lamar dropping a new album. “I think he’s gonna drop an album this year,” he asserted. The Alchemist made it clear that Lamar won the beef, and doesn’t have to drop, but has a good feeling. “I don’t think he has to,” the producer explained. “I think he will, just cuse he can.” TMZ asked The Alchemist whether he has more beats to give to Dot, and he made it clear that he did. He then pointed at his car and said: “I got some records in this car, I’m about to send them as soon as I get home.”

The Alchemist Plans On Sending Multiple Beats To K. Dot

The Alchemist and Kendrick Lamar have been collaborating since 2017. The former produced “The Heart Part IV” and the song “FEAR” off Lamar’s album DAMN. The two legends also linked up for the song “We Cry Together” off 2022’s Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers. The Alchemist has always spoken highly of K. Dot and his recording process. He went as far as to say that working on “FEAR” helped him to deal with the passing of his father. “Having a beat on it was one of the only good things that happened during that time that brought me back to life,” the producer wrote on Instagram in 2022. “I remember thanking Dot & telling him that he helped me in more ways than he could imagine.”

The Alchemist is seemingly everywhere these days. In addition to working with Lamar, the producer is hard at work on Eminem’s upcoming album. He didn’t produce Em’s new single, “Houdini,” but he told MTV that he was very much involved in the recording process. “That’s my boss,” he noted. “I deejay for him and I’m not at liberty to speak on much, but you know his caliber and what he does.” The Alchemist even made a cameo appearance in the music video for “Houdini.” We’re excited to see what him and Em cook up together.

The Alchemist Says He is Still Hoping to Create a Song with JAY-Z

The Alchemist has worked with all of the legends in Hip-Hop, but he has one left on his career bucket list. Speaking with Cardo for Lucid Monday’s, The Alchemist is eyeing the elusive JAY-Z collaboration.

“Jay always been on my list. I’ve been saying it for 100 years,” The Alchemist said. “At this point, I hope it would be a mutual thing, like I would want to work with somebody that would wanna work with me. There’s a couple that’s brewing that’s like bucket list s–t for me that I hope happens. I still have hopes like that.”

The Alchemist Reveals Jay-Z Is The Rapper He Wants To Work With Most

The Alchemist is one of the most respected producers in the game. His name is synonymous with quality, whether he’s working with Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, or Larry June. The mere fact that he can work all three of these artists denotes a versatility that few producers can match. That being said, The Alchemist is not content to sit on his laurels. He may already have a Hall of Fame resume, but he talked about his dream collaboration during a recent interview with NFR Podcast.

The Alchemist and Cardo linked up to discuss their career goals, and the former made it very clear who he wants to work with: Jay-Z. Somehow, The Alchemist and Hov have yet to officially work together. This is something the producer wants to remedy as soon as possible. “Jay always been on my list,” he stated. “I been saying it for a hundred years. It’s Jay-Z. I would love to. We linked but I keep the faith.” He made it clear that there’s no ill will between him and Jay. He asserted, though, that he’d only want to collab with the Brooklyn rapper if the desire was mutual.

The Alchemist Has Known Jay-Z For Twenty Years

For The Alchemist, it’s all about respect and creative unity. “At this point, I hope it would be a mutual thing,” he explained. “Like I would want to work with somebody that would wanna work with me. There’s a couple that’s brewing that’s like bucket list sh*t for me that I hope happens. I still have hopes like that.” The closest The Alchemist and Jay-Z got to working together was on the 2020 Jay Electronica album, A Written Testimony. The Alchemist produced the song “The Neverending Story,” which Jay-Z eventually spit a verse on.

The Alchemist and Jay-Z have actually known each other for decades. They first met in New York in the early 2000s, which the producer recalled during a For the Record interview. “[Jay] leaned in my ear and was like, ‘Yo when you gonna stop wasting them beats?,’” he stated. Jay-Z was responsible for getting The Alchemist and Beanie Sigel in the studio together, and he even got a chance to hear the producer’s breakout beat, “We Gonna Make It.” The Alchemist claimed that Jay actually passed on the beat before it went to Jadakiss. Hopefully the producer gets his collab sooner than later.

Hit-Boy, Big Hit, & The Alchemist Share Ferocious Black & White Music Video For “Temperature Check”

Last month, Hit-Boy teamed up with his dad Big Hit for a new collaborative project. It isn’t the first time the pair have crossed paths following last year’s Surf Or Drown Vol. 2. This time around, they also recruited The Alchemist to serve on production. The resulting project is called Blacks & Whites and it features appearances from Boldy James, Killa Twan, LongBodyy, Figg Rarri, and C3. But the most notable guest appearance elaborated on the family affair at the album’s core by inviting on Hit-Boy’s sister HitgirlLena. The track was hyped up by rappers like Big Sean and A$AP Rocky praising the inclusion of the entire family together on the song.

The record was preceded by numerous singles multiple of which got music videos of their own. Now that the record is out the trio have seen fit to drop yet another music video. This time it’s the song “Temperature Check” which turns up right in the middle of the album proper. Like all the videos from this era so far it’s shot in stark black and white, which fits well with the album title. Though the song is short they pack quite a lot of different material into the less than two-minute video. The visuals have already racked up more than 5 million views in just a few hours. Check out the full video below.

Hit-Boy, Big Hit, & The Alchemist Share “Temperature Check” Visuals

The last single from the record was called “Drug Czar.” It preceded the record by just a few days and got a some visuals of its own. The song followed up the closing track “Gank Move,” the single that featured an appearance from HitgirlLena.

What do you think of the new music video for Hit-Boy, Big Hit, and The Alchemist’s song “Temperature Check?” Which of the songs from their new album Blacks & Whites is your favorite? Let us know in the comment section below.

Big Hit, Hit-Boy And The Alchemist Deliver On Gritty “Black & Whites”

Big Hit, Hit-Boy and The Alchemist represent three different phases of hip-hop. Big Hit brings the gritty appeal of an industry veteran despite being relatively new to the game. His son, Hit-Boy, has been one of the most versatile producers of the last decade. The Alchemist, meanwhile, has been lacing beats for the best rappers in the game for over thirty years. There was a risk that bunching them together would result in their strengths canceling out, resulting in a subpar album. Thankfully, that’s not what happened here.

Black & Whites, the debut album from this trio, is a triumph. In a very particular field, that is. The album is not going for summer playlists or radio play, it’s going for the grime and the soulfulness of the best street albums the genre has to offer. “Heartless” sees Big Hit weave cold-blooded bars over an Alchemist beat with a gorgeous vocal sample. There’s no drums, just Hit’s propulsive flow and Alc’s wizardy working in tandem. The soul chops on “Sly, Slick & Wicked” and the titular track are worth the price of admission. Hit-Boy and Alchemist have incredible chemistry behind the boards, and nearly steal the show from their emcee. Fortunately, Big Hit brings his A-game whenever he’s paired with guest features.

Big Hit And His Producers Attempt Different Styles

The rapper and Boldy James sound mean as hell on the the East Coast-centric “Godfather, Pt. 2.” Then the former turns around and trades verse space with HitgirlLENA on the effortlessly catchy, West Coast-bounce of “Gank Move.” “Gank Move” closes out Black & Whites on a deceptively warm note, but most of what’s here is chilly, efficient, and excellently made. If you liked the promo single “Drug Tzar,” you’re going to love the rest of what’s here.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new album Black & Whites by Big Hit, Hit-Boy and The Alchemist? Do you think the two producers work well together? What is the best song? 9th Wonder Teases Upcoming Collab Album With Larry June

9th Wonder knows how to get the best out of rappers. He codified the sound of Little Brother in the 2000s, before going on to make classic joint albums with the likes of Talib Kweli, Skyzoo and Murs. His sample chops are less eccentric than, say, Madlib, but he displays unparalleled talent when it comes to bringing out the soulfulness of his collaborators on record. This is what makes the prospect of a 9th and Larry June tape so exciting.

9th Wonder was fielding questions from fans on May 20, when one fan noted how good a collaboration with Larry June would sound. “We need a @9thwonder and @LarryJuneTFM project,” they tweeted. 9th responded to the fan by letting him know that the process of making the project were already underway. “I’ve sent him beats,” 9th Wonder tweeted back. “About a 20 piece.” This would be an exciting change for the producer, given that he’s worked with the same few artists for most of the 2020s.

9th Wonder Recently Sent Larry June A Beats Pack

He linked up with Terrace Martin, Robert Glasper and Kamasi Washington for the acclaimed Dinner Party album in 2020. He also produced multiple projects for The Musalini and Hus KingPin. 9th linking up with Larry June would be a distinct shift, given how June’s relaxed flow contrasts with the aggression of both Musalini and Hus. June, meanwhile, has been on an excellent run of joint albums with iconic producers. He worked with Cardo, Alchemist and Harry Fraud among countless others.

As he told Complex, though, he wants to continue to change up his instrumental palate. “I’ve worked with a lot of producers that have big presences like that,” he noted. The attention to detail makes sense, given that June started off as a producer himself.

“I like to create a sound that I can always come back to,” June added. “If you listen to my catalogue, you will hear different pockets on different tapes. Because I’m bringing my world into their world because it’s a collaborative project.” The rapper likened the process to cooking. “It’s just one rapper, one producer, so it’s like we’re creating a pasta.” Hopefully we will get the 9th Wonder and Larry June pasta soon.

Hit-Boy, The Alchemist, & Big Hit Recreate Iconic “Office Space” Scene To Promote Their Upcoming Album

Hit-Boy and The Alchemist are two of the most decorated and respected producers hip-hop has ever had. The longtime beatmakers have honed their craft and created instantly recognizable instrumentals for dozens of legends and rising stars. Luckily, we have been able to hear the two minds collaborate on one project. It happened with a mini three-track EP back in February of this year called THEODORE & ANDRE, which included a feature from Johnathan Hulett. But this offering got us wanting more and it seems we are going to get our wish soon. Hit-Boy recently uploaded an album trailer on his social media platforms just moments ago and it sounds like it will be one hell of a project.

Also, joining them on this endeavor is Hit-Boy’s father Big Hit. Him and his pops have been hard at work together ever since his caretaker served nine years of a 12 year-sentence. Big Hit was found guilty and convicted of a hit-and-run in Los Angeles, which led to some severe injuries in 2014. The father-son duo has gone on to release Paisley Dreams with The Game, as well as Big Hit’s debut album The Truth Is In My Eyes. Additionally, they had dropped SURF OR DROWN, Vol. 2 back in June of 2023.

Hit-Boy Album Trailer Makes Hilarious Callback

Now, their fourth effort, which is called Black & Whites is coming soon, but we are still awaiting a release date. For now, we have this funny trailer, which makes a direct reference to the 1999 classic comedy film, Office Space. The trio recreates the iconic printer smashing scene where the office employees obliterate the machine. Instead, they kick, punch and wield a bat on keyboards while a song from the album plays. It sounds like the tone of the project will be dark, at least based on the teaser and we cannot wait.

What are your thoughts on this album trailer from Hit-Boy, Big Hit, and The Alchemist? Do you think they did a great job recreating the iconic scene from Office Space? Could this be an album of the year contender? Who is the better producer of the two? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Hit-Boy, Big Hit, and The Alchemist. Finally, stay with us for everything else going on in the music world.
