Megan Thee Stallion Reveals Who Inspired Her Tequila Brand On “Club Shay Shay”

Megan Thee Stallion has already had a huge year, and the Texas-born performer doesn’t show any signs of slowing down. Aside from making her way across North America on her “Hot Girl Summer” tour alongside GloRilla, Meg just recently unleashed her brand-new album, Megan. The project has been a major success so far, and listeners can agree that it was well worth the wait. She’s also been teasing a new, non-music-related endeavor as of late, however. In May of this year, Meg gave her Instagram followers a fun first look at her very own tequila brand.

Specifics of the launch have yet to be revealed, though at the time she said it’d be “dropping soon.” She also shared some exciting new details about it during her recent appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast. According to her, she was encouraged to dabble in the liquor industry by a fellow female superstar, who certainly knows a thing or two about marketing.

Megan Thee Stallion Says Beyonce Encouraged Her To Start Liquor Brand

“Beyonce is actually the person that inspired me to get my own tequila,” she told Sharpe. “Because I used to be the cognac queen. I still am the cognac queen. But as much as I used to enjoy cognac, and I’ve promoted a lot of people’s liquor brands, she was like, ‘the next time I see you, you better have your own. You need to have your own alcohol.’”

A rocky past with her old label 1501 Certified Entertainment also inspired Meg to learn the ins and outs of being her own boss. What do you think of Megan Thee Stallion’s recent appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay? What about her revealing that Beyonce encouraged her to start her own tequila brand? Megan Thee Stallion Shares First Look At Her New Tequila Brand

Megan Thee Stallion is juggling quite a bit right now. The rapper is currently on a much-talked-about new tour. Fans online were locked in fierce debate over whether or not she was the caliber of artist who could go on a stadium tour. She seemingly answered that question when she sold out more than a dozen stadiums before the tour even began. But that hasn’t stopped some of her haters, many inspired by her beef with Nicki Minaj earlier this year, from trying to come after her new shows.

She’s also about to launch a brand new product. Rapper’s collaborating on their own alcohol brands has a long history in the genre and Megan is about to join some of her predecessors. The “HISS” rapper took to Instagram to reveal to fans that she has a tequila brand dropping soon. Fans at her recent show in Chicago got the chance to try the brand early. The post was accompanied by a video of the rapper with the bottle, giving fans their first taste of what it looks like. Check out the preview of her upcoming beverage below.

Megan Thee Stallion Teases Her New Tequila

Megan Thee Stallion has already shared three new singles from her upcoming snake-themed new album. It began last year with the hard-hitting “COBRA” which even got a special rock version with metal band Spiritbox. Earlier this year, she dropped the even more evocative “HISS,” which got her embroiled in one of the first big rap beefs of the year. One particularly hilarious lyric referencing Megan’s Law was a veiled shot at Nicki Minaj. In particular, she took aim at Minaj’s husband and his criminal history. That led to Nicki to respond with a diss track called “Big Foot” which was bashed by critics and fans alike.

What do you think of Megan Thee Stallion sharing a preview of her upcoming new tequila? Do you think you’ll try the “WAP” rapper’s sponsored beverage whenever its made publicly available? Let us know in the comment section below.

It goes without saying that Megan Thee Stallion has a lot on her plate these days. The Houston MC is currently gearing up for her upcoming Hot Girl Summer tour with GloRilla for one, which kicks off next month. On top of the 32-date run, Meg also has a new album in the works, which she shared some exciting details about during a panel at AdWeek for Social Media Week 2024.

Elsewhere during her appearance, the hitmaker announced that she plans to broaden her horizons by launching her own tequila brand. “I create the things that I want to see, I don’t create things for other people to like them,” she explained. “I create the music I want to hear, I go and do my own thing and stay true to me.”

Here Is The Main Ingredient In Drake’s Favorite Drink

Drake often alludes to liquor and spirit brands in his music. On his 2021 single “Girls Want Girls,” he parties in the club with Casamigos. He proudly carries Hennesy in his hand on his 2016 single, “One Dance.” But one particular beverage stands out as the rapper’s favorite.

In a recent interview shared to TikTok, Drake revealed that his favorite drink is Onda, a seltzer with a tequila base.

Drake is often seen in clubs and at parties with the drink in hand. While the drink comes in a can, Drake often pours it over ice, into a spherical glass.

“Everybody always sees me with this drink and they ask me what it is and they ask me for one,” said Drake in the TikTok clip. “It’s an Onda; a tequila spritz-esque cocktail, passion fruit flavor by the way.”

Onda Tequila Seltzer was founded in July of 2020 by Noah Gray, the Chief Executive Officer; Max Dworin, Chief Operating Officer; Kelli Adams, Chief Creative Officer; and Pretty Little Liars actress Shay Mitchell, Chief Brand Officer.

In the clip, Drake shouts out the fellow Canadian, and reiterates his love for the drink.

“Shout out to my brother Matt, shout out to Shay — of course, Shay Mitchell — who came up with this product,” said Drake. “And now I drink it every day. I’m probably on my millionth glass.”

DaniLeigh Reportedly Had A Bottle Of Tequila In Her Vehicle During Hit-And-Run Arrest

Police say that during DaniLeigh’s May 30 arrest for an alleged hit-and-run, officers found an open bottle of Don Julio 1942 tequila in her vehicle. She was taken into custody after allegedly hitting a man driving a moped and continuing to drive. According to reports, DaniLeigh drove with the moped stuck in the grill of her Mercedes SUV for about a block. The man who was hit was taken to a hospital and suffered minor injuries, including a fractured spine and a lacerated kidney.

According to one officer, DaniLeigh didn’t initially pull over and police had to honk their horn multiple times before she stopped. The officer claims that both DaniLeigh and her passenger appeared to be intoxicated, despite her claims that she had not consumed any alcohol. Upon inspecting the vehicle that reportedly smelled of alcohol, the officer says they found the empty bottle of vodka. DaniLeigh was arrested after failing a field sobriety test, and taken to the Miami Beach Police Department. She was later given a breathalyzer test and reportedly blew almost twice the legal limit, 0.148. She was charged with three felonies, including driving under the influence, leaving the scene of a crash with serious bodily injury, and DUI damage to property.

DaniLeigh had another run-in with law enforcement in 2021, after an altercation with the father of her child, DaBaby. After the rapper went live during the altercation, he called police to have her removed from his home. DaniLeigh was charged with two counts of simple assault after DaBaby claimed she had hit him.

Earlier this month, DaniLeigh also shared that she was credited for helping with choreography for Beyoncé’s Renaissance tour. She shared a post with social media followers, saying she was “so grateful” for the opportunity. The artist also said the experience was “an honor and such a blessing,” calling it “a dream come true!!!”

Drake Said Dan Aykroyd Invented Patrón And Got Roasted For It, But Is He Actually Right?

Last weekend Drake sat down with Barstool Sports’ Sundae Conversation With Caleb Pressley series for a truly bizarre but fun interview over tequila passion fruit cocktails. The pair talked about Drizzy’s parenting skills (and were joined by his son Adonis), his in-air snack preferences, his 42-diamond necklace, and a brief discussion over who would sit on the Canadian Hall Of Fame. The answer to that last part aside from Drake of course? Mike Myers, Ryan Gosling, and Dan Aykroyd, to which Drake added of the famous comedian:

“Patrón, like, invented it, so had to live a decent life right?”

That resulted in an immediate interjection from co-host Glenny Balls — who Drake called “GB” which as far as we’re concerned, is his name now —

“Dan Aykroyd invented Patrón?”

“Yeah… right?”

“What? Dan Aykroyd, like the Blues Brother Dan Aykroyd?”

“Yeah, that’s his liquor, who do you think invented it, T-Pain?”

After a lot of pushback, Drake stood his ground until someone off-camera confirmed that Dan Aykroyd didn’t in fact invent Patrón.

It’s easy to come out of that interview roasting Drake, considering Dan Aykroyd, a white guy from Canada, absolutely did not invent Patrón (the brand’s founder is actually John Paul DeJoria, a totally different white guy who is also the co-founder of Paul Mitchell hair products, which is just as random as thinking its Aykroyd). Even people who want to be generous to Drake will assume he must’ve been thinking of Crystal Head — Aykroyd’s vodka brand.

But it turns out there is a little bit more to Drake attributing Patrón to Akyrod.

According to the BBC, before starting Crystal Head vodka in 2007, Aykroyd first entered the spirits industry in 2005 when he set up a company to import Patrón tequila into Canada. So to Canadians, Akykroyd is essentially the father of the famous tequila brand and is the reason Canadians started sipping luxury tequila in the first place. So now that we have your back Drake, whenever you want to sit down for an Expression Session, you know where to find us.

We promise we’ll only roast you for your whiskey.
