Lil Tay’s “Death” Sparks Suspicion

The internet was shocked by the sudden news that Claire “Lil Tay” Hope had suddenly passed away on August 9. Hope gained infamy in the late 2010s for her boisterous internet persona. Her videos often showed her wads of cash and posting up in luxury apartments. While she called herself the “internet’s hardest flexer”, many YouTube detectives argued that it was just an act. These commentators argued that Hope was likely being directed by her parents. Furthermore, evidence emerged that Hope was likely filming at properties managed by her mother Angela Tian, a realtor.

However, Hope’s star quickly faded into tragedy. First, videos containing then then-nine-year-old Hope using racial slurs emerged. Then, several interviews with outlets such as The Daily Beast saw Hope claim parental abuse and a forced move to Vancouver to be with her father after he reportedly threatened to have her mother arrested. Hope’s social media pages were inactive from 2018 until the sudden announcement of her death this week. Despite all this, people are starting to question the sudden obituary.

Is Lil Tay Dead?

Speculation has begun to emerge that Hope may not be dead and that her parents have faked her death in an attempt to bring new attention to the Lil Tay brand. This comes after her father, Christopher, seemingly refused to confirm her death. “Yeah, you have the right person, but I don’t have any comment right now. I’m not able to give you any comment right now. I’m sorry — I can’t,” Hope told the New York Post in a brief phone call. A similar statement was made by Henry Tsang, the alleged ex-manager of Lil Tay. “I have been in communication with individuals who have an intimate understanding of the family’s situation. Given the complexities of the current circumstances, I am at a point where I cannot definitively confirm or dismiss the legitimacy of the statement issued by the family,” Tsang told the US Sun.

Additionally, it’s unclear where Hope was at the time of her alleged death. A spokesperson for the Vancouver PD told The Post that they had not received any reports of deaths matching Hope or her brother, Jason Tian. Tian was also reported to have died alongside Hope. Furthermore, The Post was unable to contact Hope’s mother Angela, or the LAPD. This is a developing story and we’ll have any updates here at HotNewHipHop.

Kai Cenat Breaks Silence On Giveaway Riot

Twitch streamer Kai Cenat has made his first public comments since a surprise giveaway in New York City turned into a full-blown riot. Cenat himself for arrested and charged with a number of things, including inciting a riot. However, in his first stream since the incident, Cenat has put all the blame on the fans. “I am beyond disappointed with anyone who became destructive that day,” Cenat declared. “That shit is not cool, I want people to know that. I don’t condone anything that went on that day. I’m seeing random videos of people getting sturdy on people’s cars and I’m asking myself, why? Why?”

“None of that was my intention. I had good intentions for this whole thing. I don’t condone any of the things that went on that day,” he continued. Furthermore, he asked for people to leave his family alone, revealing that at least one person had visited his mother’s house. In addition, Cenat revealed that he would be streaming less frequently and had a court date on August 16.

Cenat Takes Little Accountability For Riot

In the 19-minute stream, Cenat took little personal responsibility for the riot. While he said the incident had “opened his eyes to the power and influence” he has over his fans, he took little more responsibility than that. However, it’s a weak excuse for what occurred. Cenat, the most popular streamer on Twitch, clearly doesn’t view himself as a person who commands an army of millions. And so, he announced an impromptu giveaway to his viewer base of millions. It highlights the dangerous power of internet fame.

The entire debacle could have been avoided, or at least the negative effects mitigated, if Cenat had worked with city officials to plan a more structured event ahead of time. Instead, he simply told thousands of teenagers and young people to show up at an undersized location. Kai Cenat is not responsible for “inciting a riot”, as he has been charged with. However, his actions showed a negligence and lack of forethought that is incredibly prevalent in young influencers. We are just a few years removed from a YouTuber trying to start their own convention with disastrous results. The consequences of Cenat’s giveaway continue to be a developing story.

Best Beat-Making Software 2023

In music production, the right tools can make all the difference. As we journey into 2023, let’s explore the top three beat-making software programs shaping the industry. These programs are the secret weapons behind the beats that get our feet tapping and heads nodding. From amateur bedroom producers to Grammy-winning hitmakers, these three programs are the ultimate toolkit for creating the perfect beat.

Ableton Live

First on our list is Ableton Live. Known for its user-friendly interface and intuitive design, Ableton Live is a favorite among both beginners and seasoned professionals. The software’s unique session view allows for non-linear beat arrangement, making it easy to experiment with different arrangements and create unique beats.

Ableton Live boasts a range of built-in instruments and high-quality effects, allowing you to add different elements to your beats and bring them to life. The software also supports third-party plugins, providing endless possibilities for customization. Ableton Live’s “warping” feature allows you to change the tempo or pitch of a sample without affecting its overall timing, making it easy to incorporate samples from other songs into your tracks. Further, Ableton Live is also great for live performances. Its session view allows real-time switching between different parts of your beat, making it perfect for DJs and live electronic musicians.

FL Studio For Beat-Making

Next up is FL Studio, also known as Fruity Loops. FL Studio is known for its intuitive interface and a wealth of advanced features. The software’s step sequencer allows for a quick beat layout, and the piano roll editor enables the creation of custom melodies and chord progressions. Mark Zuckerberg Calls Out Elon Musk Over Potential Cage Fight

Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk traded shots on social media over the weekend regarding the idea of fighting each other in a previously discussed cage match. Musk remarked in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, that the fight would be streamed on the aforementioned platform if it does occur. Zuckerberg, using his new site, Threads, trolled Musk over the comment.

“Shouldn’t we use a more reliable platform that can actually raise money for charity?” the Meta CEO fired back at Musk on Threads. Before Zuckerberg’s comment, Musk had also remarked that he’s been “lifting weights throughout the day preparing for the fight.” He added: “Don’t have time to work out, so I just bring them to work. Aiming to get to 50-pound free weights this week. I build muscle fast. Physical endurance is my weak spot, so I’m aiming to make this quick.”

“I’m ready today,” Zuckerberg further said on Threads. “I suggested Aug 26 when he first challenged, but he hasn’t confirmed. Not holding my breath. I love this sport and will continue competing with people who train no matter what happens here.” Discussing his chances in the bout, Musk said: “If the fight is short, I probably win. If long, he may win on endurance. I am much bigger and there is a reason MMA has weight divisions.”

Musk and Zuckerberg initially agreed to the idea of a fight back in June; however, little progress towards it coming to fruition has amounted since then. Zuckerberg even told Meta employees at the end of July that he doubted it would end up happening.

Viral TikTok Hit “Planet Of The Bass” Getting Full Song August 15

If you’ve spent any time on TikTok over the last few weeks, you’ve probably encountered “Planet of the Bass”. The song is a bombastic homage to European dance music of the late 1990s. People have compared the 50-second video, which has nearly 7 million views, to the likes of Aqua. The video has everything – a wildly dressed man (DJ CrazyTimes), a blonde vocalist (Ms. Biljana Electronica), and nonsensical lyrics (“Life, it never dies/Women are my favorite guy”). The video has people absolutely obsessed. Many outlets have reported on it as the “sound of the summer”, despite it literally being a 50-second TikTok.

DJ CrazyTimes is a long-running character for comedian Kyle Gordon. His previous videos with the character have largely been skits based on the stereotypes of era-appropriate European DJs. However, while his videos are usually decently successful, “Planet of the Bass” is far and away his biggest hit to date. And now, fans are getting a full song later this month.

“Planet Of The Bass” Dropping August 15

In a new video showing a revised version of the song, Gordon announced that a full version of the song will be released later this month. “I flew to Croatia to film this. Full song Aug. 15!” Gordon wrote as a caption to the video. However, fans are split about the news for one specific reason – Ms. Biljana Electronica. Ms. Biljana Electronica is a core feature of the original “Planet of the Bass” video. She is the primary vocalist and the main star of the skit. However, the new clip shared by Gordon shows that the original Ms. Biljana Electronica has been replaced by influencer Mara Olney.

Fans are incredibly upset about this development. After the video released on August 3, Jezebel wrote a piece entitled “DJ Crazy Times Swapped Out Ms. Biljana Electronica for a Brunette, As If We Wouldn’t Notice.” Meanwhile, fans voiced their displeasure in the comments section. “THE PEOPLE WANT MS BILJANA,” one person proclaimed. “Not gonna lie, Ms. Biljana’s energy was everything in the previous version. This is not Electric Electic 🙅‍♂️⚡,” noted another. There is certainly a different vibe to the new video. However, hopefully the rest of the song slaps just as hard. Furthermore, we hope to see the original Ms. Biljana Electronica return in the future.

Google Is Offering Employees $99 Rooms At Its On-Site Hotel

Google has announced a new policy to tempt workers back to the company’s Mountain View campus in California. Employees will be able to rent a hotel room for $99 a night at an on-site hotel. This comes as the company continues to push its return-to-work model. Last year, Google ended full-time remote working and mandate employees to work at least three days a week in-office. Since then, Google has been doubling down on the policy. Google is very eager to minimize the “hybrid” aspect of its hybrid work policy. In June, it was reported that Google was tracking employee badges and warned employees that their levels of in-person attendance would factor into their performance reviews.

Among materials distributed to employees about the hotel offer, the lack of a commute was listed as a benefit of the scheme. Google opened the 4,000-room hotel last year. However, the scheme does come with a few catches. Firstly, stays at the hotel will not qualify as business travel. This means that the $99 per night rate cannot be expensed. Additionally, the $99 price tag is noted as a temporary discount that will expire in September. At the time of writing, Google has not disclosed how much the room will cost from October onwards.

Google Employees Have Mixed Reaction To Hotel Announcement

“We regularly run accommodation specials for local or traveling Googlers to take advantage of our spaces and amenities,” Google spokesperson Ryan Lamont told The Verge. “We advertise these in a regular Perks email which also contains discounts for employees on other services and entertainment options.” However, the option, which would cost a little under $3000 per month, has been met with mixed reactions from Google staff.

“Now I can give some of my pay back to Google,” one staffer told CNBC News. Meanwhile, another argued that Google had better amenities than their apartment. However, some employees are also worried that their jobs could be on the line if they don’t utilize the new policy. Earlier this year, Google cut 12,000 jobs and is reportedly looking at further cuts in the near future. Regardless, would you pay to live at your job? Let us know in the comments.

Elon Musk To Live Stream Mark Zuckerberg Fight On X

Elon Musk recently took to X, giving an update on his upcoming fight with Mark Zuckerberg. The two tech moguls have been teasing the battle for a minute, and now it’s looking like it’s actually going to happen. According to Musk, fans can get a front-row seat to the high-anticipated fight on his newly-rebranded X, and all proceeds will be donated to charity to help veterans. Reportedly, the two of them have been training with the likes of UFC legends, so this should be good.

There’s no official date for the fight yet, however, TMZ claims it won’t be happening for at least another few months. According to the outlet, Musk needs some more time to prepare. The duo has a pretty huge size disparity, which some critics note could make for an unfair fight. Musk stands at 6’2″ and 230 lbs, while Zuckerberg stands at 5’7″ and 150 lbs. With that being said, Zuckerberg is a fair bit younger than Musk, and has been training for far longer. The fight location is also yet to be announced.

Earlier this week, Zuckerberg told Threads that he’s been eating a pretty hefty diet as of late. Though most of his calorie intake is coming from fast food, it appears to be working for him. “Not cutting weight so I need ~4000 calories a day to offset all the activity,” he explained. The Meta founder also revealed his go-to McDonald’s order while in training, which is “20 nuggets, a quarter pounder, large fries, Oreo McFlurry, apple pie, and maybe some side cheeseburgers for later.”

It was reported last month that Zuck has enlisted the help of UFC champions Israel Adesanya and Alexander Volkanovski. Musk is tapping Georges St. Pierre and John Danaher for his training. While it appeared that Musk could have been distracted by Twitter’s recent rebranding, it’s clear that he hasn’t forgotten about what’s been dubbed the “tech bro fight of the century.”

Grimes Praises Doja Cat And Defends Lizzo

Grimes has weighed in on two of the biggest points of “discourse” currently circulating on the internet. Doja Cat recently released her new single “Paint the Town Red” to widespread praise. However, the somewhat controversial singer has also come under fire for the way she responds to fans on social media. Last month, Doja posted and then deleted comments disparaging her fanbase. “Just delete the entire account and rethink everything,” she tweeted at a fan account. “I don’t though because I don’t even know y’all,” she tweeted at another person. The person in question had asked her to say she loved her fans.

Meanwhile, Lizzo has been sued by three of her former dancers on claims of creating a toxic work environment. Lizzo herself has been accused of forcing dancers into sexually uncomfortable situations, including pressuring dancers into touching a nude dancer in Amsterdam. Furthermore, Lizzo has been accused of firing a dancer after the dancer stood up to her after the singer accused her dance team of drinking on the job. Meanwhile, the captain of Lizzo’s dance team has been accused of forcing their religious beliefs onto people and weight-shaming dancers.

Grimes Wades Into The Discourse

Grimes praised Doja for “Paint the Town Red” while also pushing back on her online behavior. “This is simply a masterpiece. I don’t think it’s cool to lash out at fans but I don’t think anyone can truly understand the psychic perils of fame unless they’ve been thru it. And I’ve never seen genius without dragon energy. Doja has always been a friend and deeply kind person to me. She’s one of my favorite artists ever I hate when an artist gets cancelled and we’re all quiet cuz we don’t want guilt by association. Doja will be one of greatest artists of all time and we all know it and idc if I get in trouble for fucking adoring this. Damn,” Grimes said, retweeting a clip from the song.

“I love Lizzo. Not saying I don’t believe ppl when bad things happen, but I had dancers mistreated on my watch. Mebe shit is bad. But loyalty matters to me. Lizzo was kind to me and others for a decade before she was “cool”, and she checked in in me when no one cared. I’ve only ever seen exemplary behavior from her, especially when everyone was hating on me and she was on top of the world. There was no reason for her to check in, besides to be a good person. Just my two cents. I recall when she first blew up being so happy because I’d never known such an admirable person to find fame in the music industry. I struggle to believe she would have so radically changed 💜 tired of a culture that seeks to destroy it’s greatest virtues. Lizzo is amazing,” she said of Lizzo.

Grimes Invokves Fascism While Defending Lizzo

Later, Grimes also tweeted about “democracy” in a post that felt very much inspired by her earlier comments about Lizzo. “modern democracy is built on the principal of “innocent until proven guilty” Curious how so many speak loudly against fascism, yet demand a dismantling of the precarious luxury of freedom so few besides them – the very most privileged in all of history – have ever lived. How did this rhetorical trap overtake our civilization?” the singer tweeted.

Ice Spice’s Next Collab Could Be Pinkydoll, If NPC Streamer Has Her Way

Many artists take years to cross the biggest names on their list of dream collaborators off, but Ice Spice is obviously an exception. Less than a year after she initially blew up, we’ve already seen the 23-year-old work with Nicki Minaj (twice), and Taylor Swift. The latter’s “Karma (Remix)” wasn’t as well received as the Queen of Rap’s two times linking up with the Princess, but still, Spice continues to break records. Seeing as she’s officially made it in the industry, we’re eagerly waiting to see if the “Bikini Bottom” artist plans to work with other artists who are currently on the rise.

One person who’s made it clear that they want Spice to hop on their song is NPC streamer, Pinkydoll. The TikTok star recently ventured into music via a partnership with Fashion Nova that’s set to drop soon. In a video shared on Monday (July 31), she teased what it might sound like if the redhead were to connect with her musically. “Hi guys, it’s your girl Pinkydoll, yes yes yes! You know your girl Pinkydoll see everything on the net,” the social media personality told viewers. “Last time I checked, someone put Ice Spice on my beat as a remix, but my beat is not even released yet.”

Pinkydoll is Eager to Work with Ice Spice

The screen then cuts to a collage of Ice with Pinky. After a few seconds of music and adlibs, we hear “Deli” from the former’s new Like..? (Deluxe) EP blasting in sync with the beat. “I think we got something here,” the blonde proudly declares. “Ice Spice, I think you and me need to do a collab ASAP! Just picture that,” she adds. In the comments, a surprising number of viewers have already been expressing interest in seeing the unexpected link-up come to fruition. Only time will tell if it actually happens, but with the modern powers of AI, anything is possible.

While Pinkydoll continues to make bank on TikTok, Ice Spice has spent this morning showing off her curves on Instagram. During her latest trip to the beach, the Bronx baddie posed in a white bikini while flaunting a ton of $100 bills for the camera. See her latest photo dump at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

Decoding Elon Musk’s Vision: Twitter Rebranded as X

Decoding Elon Musk's Vision: Twitter Rebranded as X

In a surprising move that set the internet abuzz, Elon Musk, the entrepreneur and visionary behind Tesla, decided to rebrand Twitter as “X.” This momentous decision, holds more significance than meets the eye. It reflects Musk’s relentless pursuit of innovation, disruption, and a bold vision for the future of social media.

The name change symbolizes Musk’s desire to transform the platform from its original concept into a more multifaceted and expansive entity. By adopting the single-letter “X,” Musk embraces a sense of mystery and open-endedness. The letter X, historically, has been associated with the unknown and the limitless, mirroring Musk’s commitment to pushing boundaries and exploring uncharted territories.

Elon Musk’s ambitious plan for “X” goes beyond a mere cosmetic change. His vision for the platform involves a combination of social networking, artificial intelligence, and augmented reality. He envisions “X” as the ultimate hub for real-time information sharing, connecting people in ways previously unimaginable. Integrating AI algorithms will enable the platform to curate personalized content and foster meaningful interactions, while augmented reality will allow users to experience social media in a new dimension.

Moreover, “X” aims to revolutionize the decentralized nature of social media, placing power back into the hands of its users. Blockchain technology will ensure data privacy and security, shielding users from intrusive data harvesting and manipulation.

Musk’s decision to rebrand Twitter as “X” also seeks to break free from past constraints and pave the way for the future. By moving away from the term “Twitter,” which conjures images of short messages and character limits, Musk aims to redefine the platform’s identity. “X” will embody boundless creativity, encouraging users to share thoughts, ideas, and experiences with unparalleled freedom.

As with any major change, the decision to rename Twitter as “X” has sparked both excitement and skepticism. Critics argue that rebranding alone won’t address the fundamental issues social media faces, such as misinformation and online toxicity. However, Elon Musk has never avoided taking risks and challenging conventional norms.

Ultimately, the rebranding of Twitter as “X” represents Elon Musk’s unyielding determination to create a more dynamic and impactful digital realm. Only time will tell if this audacious move will revolutionize how we connect and communicate.
