Lil Durk Hints At New Music Coming Soon While Throwing Subliminals

Lil Durk has a couple of things to get off his chest, according to some reposts from DJ Akademiks. Let’s start off with the more recent series of statements first. The Chicago rapper and singer seems to be taking some subliminal shots at either people he knows or contemporaries and did so via an Instagram story. The Voice writes, “When brothers speak bad bout brothers I cut em off I don’t even bother to ask questions we know who real and who fake some people won’t change”.

Then, a little bit later, Lil Durk uploaded a collage to the IG feed. This time, the veteran is getting a little more direct with his words. The caption says, “Back in 2012 they counted me out I had to turn up a notch!!!!! This album for the core ”. In regard to his first thought dump, this is nothing new from the drill artist. All you have to do is peruse through his IG page to see that he does something similar every other week.

So, we aren’t going to look to deep into that. Instead, what we are going to focus our attention on is the “album for the core” part. Durk has not been dropping a ton this year, but two of his singles seem to be for the upcoming Love Songs 4 the Streets 3. This would be his ninth studio album, and the third in this more melodic series of projects for him. “Smurk Carter”, “Old Days”, and “Went Hollywood For A Year” look to be prime candidates for LS4TS3. However, the release date and all of the other important details are currently unknown.

Metro Boomin Reveals That He Is “Cooking Up” With The Weeknd On Singer’s Next Album

It is almost impossible to find a steadier duo than Metro Boomin and The Weeknd. Of course, when you think of the St. Louis producer’s top collaborators, your brain automatically goes to names like Future and 21 Savage. But we would like to argue to that even though they have more experience together, Metro and Abel have never missed. Ever since 2015’s “Low Life” off of Future’s EVOL tape, they have gone on to forge some amazing chemistry. Metro Boomin and The Weeknd really hit their stride when they worked on the R&B icon’s 2020 album, After Hours.

Together they created dark, melodic, dreamy, and intoxicating cuts like “Heartless,” “Until I Bleed Out,” “Faith,” and more. Additionally, Metro also did some work on Starboy, as well as several cuts from The Weeknd’s HBO show The Idol. During that time, they collaborated on “Double Fantasy,” “Popular,” “Take Me Back,” among others. After Abel went full synth pop on his last full-length Dawn FM, the hitmaking duo separated for about year. However, they came back to flip Mario’s classic “I Don’t Wanna Know” with “Creepin’” on HEROES & VILLAINS.

Metro Says He’s Got More Heat In The Vault With The Weeknd

Finally, they kept the hot streak going on Metro and Future’s sister records WE DON’T TRUST YOU and WE STILL DON’T TRUST YOU. While the acclaimed beat maker has come through on his end by dropping records, The Weeknd has taken some time off. But his next endeavor could be coming soon, as evidenced from the interview clip above with Metro. In a chat in front of what appears to be the Kundalini Pyramids, he revealed that he was “cooking up” some beats for Abel. He mentioned to Rap Caviar how far they have come and how they are “family,” so we can only expect that some serious home cooking is in store down the line.

On top of that, his collaborations in 2024 have been solid as well.

Even with all of that success going on, he still has a bone to pick with the fans. Lil Durk walked down to the stage while someone walked behind him and held up a sign saying, ” The more y’all leak, the longer it takes.” While his music has been released early by eager supporters, Durk was being a hypocrite in this situation. While greeting the fans and heading down to perform, he was teasing an unreleased track.

The Weeknd Vaguely Teases New Album

The Weeknd needs no introduction at this point in his storied career. Canada’s own has done it all and he is a true global icon. A lot of music die-hards saw the potential in him after he came through with his debut project House of Balloons, in 2011. He then turned it into a trilogy with Thursday and Echoes Of Silence. Nine years later, The Weeknd would begin his second series with After Hours. The dark R&B tracks paired with the 80s pop hits, saw him hint at the direction he would eventually take a full dive into with Dawn FM.

While it did not feature global hits, it was The Weeknd’s most consistent project to date. There are just solid tracks throughout like “Gasoline,” “Sacrifice,” “Take My Breath,” “Out of Time,” and so many others. That 2022 release just turned two yesterday, January 7. That would also be the day that Abel decided to announce the third album in this series.

The most recent of them was “BACKR00MS” which just came out last night at 9:30 p.m. It features Travis Scott and production from Cardo, as well as Ojivolta once again. In the first 13 minutes or so of the song’s premiere on YouTube, it already had over 227,000 views.

Now, that count is up to 4.4 million, and is currently the number one video on YouTube’s trending list. Carti is really playing into his darker voice on it and Travis brought on a nice verse on the backend. In the midst of all of the hype, La Flame shot a text over to Carti. It read, “We goin brazy twin. I had to slide on the kids. Otw back 2nite.”

She says, “So proud of my baby!! Going against all odds… leaving his label, starting fresh, staying focused determined and not letting nothing break him… he did that! [red heart emoji] MY TURN.” While it great to see the overwhelming support, the more juicy part of that tweet are those last two words in all caps. Considering the context of the tweet, Cardi B is seemingly referring to it being her turn to drop her sophomore tape.
