Boosie Badazz & T.I. Are Still Going To Work On Collab Album, Boosie Says

If you recall some of the big hip-hop stories so far this year, one of those for the Southern crowd was the beef between Boosie Badazz and T.I. Moreover, the two fought over snitching allegations against the Atlanta trap pioneer, which followed a long string of disputes and reconciliations before that. With all that as context, the most important thing right now is that, at least as of writing this article, everything’s good between them. In fact, it seems like they’re still planning to release something that their beef got in the way of. During an interview with VladTV uploaded Sunday (September 3), the Baton Rouge MC said that they will work on their joint album.

“Yeah, I think we’re gonna get it together,” Boosie expressed to DJ Vlad. “We ain’t got back in the studio yet. But I think we’re gonna get it together. We’ve been working on other s**t right now.” In addition, Badazz also revealed that he will perform for T.I.’s son King soon. Maybe that show is what will get the gears turning for this collab to happen months after the two settled their feud.

T.I. & Boosie Joint Project Still In The Works

“It just went like two bosses of handling it, man,” Boosie told Vlad of water being under the bridge back in April. “First of all, we got kids who love each other. First we wasn’t agreeing and we was going back-and-forth and, you know, he spoke how he felt and I spoke how I felt. He felt me and I felt him. I gave him an apology.

“After we kept going back-and-forth, the things he was doing for me in my life at the time, I kinda felt bad,” he continued. “I kinda felt bad he was doing some real s**t, helping me in a lot of ways, but I told him I still stand on what I stand on. When he explained it to me, we got by it. We got by like bosses supposed to get by. We ain’t let the internet or none of that bring us out of character.” Considering this, stay posted on HNHH for the latest news and updates on Boosie Badazz and T.I.

T.I. and Tiny Seeking Legal Fees from Ex-Friend Sabrina Peterson

sabrina

Two years ago rapper T.I. and his wife, singer Tiny Harris were sued by their former friend Sabrina Peterson for defamation of character, invasion of privacy, interference with prospective economic advantage, and emotional distress. Peterson publicly accused the couple of being sexual predators and luring women with drugs for their sexual pleasure.

Now T.I. and Tiny are seeking reimbursement of their legal fees after Peterson quietly dropped the case.

Radar Online reports:

Rapper T.I. and his wife Tiny want their ex-friend Sabrina Peterson to pay a 6-figure sum to cover the legal fees they racked up defending themselves in the lawsuit she brought accusing the couple of a coordinated harassment attack, RadarOnline.com has learned.

According to court documents obtained by RadarOnline.com, T.I. [real name: Clifford Harris] and Tiny have demanded $164,650.56 from Sabrina.

Now, in a newly filed document, T.I. and Tiny asked the court to award them $164,650.

“The Harrises’ request for $164,650.56 in attorneys’ fees and costs is reasonable and in line with fee awards regularly affirmed in this district. Given the complexity of the legal issues, the time necessary to adjudicate Peterson’s seven causes of action over a two-year period, and the additional costs of appeal, the amount requested should be awarded in full,” the couple’s lawyer wrote.

A judge has yet to rule. The case remains ongoing with the remaining claims.

T.I.’s Sophomore Album “Trap Muzik” Turns 20

Following the release of his debut album, 2001’s I’m Serious, T.I. was dropped from Arista Records. This led to his signing with Atlantic and starting his very own label, Grand Hustle. With the push of a new major label and his very own imprint, T.I. reached a wider audience with his 2023, now-Platinum-selling second album, Trap Muzik. The influential project, which included features from Mac Boney, Jazze Pha, 8Ball & MJG, and Bun B, peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200. Additionally, it reached No. 2 on their R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart. For its 20th anniversary, which arrived August 22, we’re looking back on Trap Muzik‘s impact and influence.

T.I. Established His Sound On His Second Album

T.I. displayed his rap skills to the world with I’m Serious. However, the album did not perform well commercially and was not warmly received by critics. He made sure to outperform his debut with his second album. T.I. established his own signature style, reaching new creative and commercial heights in the process. Trap Muzik is not what many people may consider “trap music” nowadays, but it painted a picture of “the trap” in its lyrics, laying the foundation for the subgenre.

The album revolves around life in “the trap” and the circumstances that come with the lifestyle of trapping. T.I. displayed some of the earliest iterations of trap music with hard-hitting street anthems like “Rubber Band Man” and “24’s.” He also shared different outlooks on the lifestyle with songs like the Kanye West-produced “Doin’ My Job.” With a uniquely Southern style and varying perspectives, Trap Muzik set the bar for T.I.’s signature sound in future works.

T.I.’s subsequent albums pushed him even further into mainstream success. After establishing his sound on Trap Muzik, he naturally progressed to securing his first No. 1 singles and Platinum albums. T.I. showed the growth of the themes of his sophomore effort in his later and most mature works like Dime Trap. Additionally, Trap Muzik’s impact and influence stands out in his expansive discography. It created the basis for trap music as a subgenre and was groundbreaking for not only T.I.’s career but also for the future of the South.

Trap Muzik Helped Usher In A New Subgenre

T.I. has often credited himself as the inventor of trap music, citing this album’s release date as the official birth of the subgenre. He certainly coined the term, but he was not the sole developer of what we now refer to as trap music. Artists like Gucci Mane and Jeezy made sizable contributions to the subgenre, though Trap Muzik precedes their first releases. Many label the album as gangsta rap or, more broadly, as Southern hip hop. T.I.’s second album helped usher in the new sound of the South, regardless of how one categorizes it.

The album has seen long-term impacts as trap music went on to dominate hip hop, becoming an era-defining sound. Twenty years later, trap music still leads in hip hop and has permeated other genres, including R&B, pop, and EDM. These impacts can be traced back to T.I. in 2003. Trap Muzik helped define the sound of Southern hip hop during the early 2000s, shaping the the genre’s future.

[WATCH] T.I.: Me, Gucci and Jeezy Are On Trap Mount Rushmore

Screen Shot 2023 08 24 at 11.03.10 AM

In an exclusive interview with AllHipHop’s Chuck Creekmur, ATL Trap legend sat down to discuss who is on Trap music “Mount Rushmore”, meaning who are the most impactful and legendary pioneers within that sub-genre of Hip Hop.

As one of the first recognized Trap artists, T.I. elaborated, “There were always three figureheads in Trap music – myself, Jeezy, and Gucci. That was always like unanimous, and nobody could even question or you can’t add or remove anybody from that. Over time, there have been conversations about who else should be allotted.”

He added, “Right now, we had the three. And us having the opportunity to also collect more data and conversation and input from the people who are the most passionate about the culture of Trap music, it’s like, ‘Who should be the fourth figurehead?’”

Without much of a delay, T.I. sounded off, “We finally came to the conclusion from the people that the fourth figurehead is Future.”

T.I. Salutes Future, Young Thug, Lil Baby & More For Innovating In The Trap Genre

T.I. is a hip-hop legend, and is widely and rightfully recognized as one of the innovators in the trap music subgenre. However, despite his OG status in the game, never doubt that the Atlanta icon is still tapped into what’s happening with the movement today. Moreover, he recently found a great reason to shout out those moving trap forward today, since he’s celebrating the 20-year anniversary of his landmark project, Trap Muzik. During a recent conversation with XXL, Tip mentioned a few MCs who he believes are doing new and important things within trap today. When it comes to the state of the style in contemporary rap, he has no doubt that these artists turned it into something beyond even his own expectations.

“A lot of people moving the genre,” T.I. said of trap music in its current form. “Not even just by embodying similar qualities that I did. I think it’s a lot more conversational now.” First off, he praised Lil Baby, expressing that they share a kindred artistic spirit when it comes to songwriting. “Just a lot of key facts about details and authenticity, where you’re speaking about things that you know that only a person who knows could articulate it,” Clifford Harris remarked.

T.I. Reflects On Trap’s Current State & Its Contemporary Leaders

“[21 S*vage’s] thoughts speak about things like financial literacy and thinking out the box,” the 42-year-old continued. “About how to expand just upon what you know by doing something different. [Moneybagg Yo] has a way of being melodic and finding the pocket on the subject matter that can relate to people that come from the life.” In addition, T.I. shouted out Young Thug for “his mannerisms and the things that he does among the people.” Despite Jeffery being in jail on RICO charges right now, the Grand Hustle creative still believes he influences the culture as much as ever.

Meanwhile, his remarks concluded by praising Future’s “diverse” artistry within the trap realm. With songs that lean more melodic and others that make speakers burst up in flames, Pluto’s output certainly fits that description. It’s been a long journey since Trap Muzik, and its shifts and innovations still shake hip-hop up to compelling results. “Rubber Band Man” By T.I. Showed His Hit-Making Ability

T.I. is a name in hip-hop that should be considered as one the most influential in the history of the genre. The Southern rap music scene might not be the same without him and his sophomore release Trap Muzik is all the proof you need. Released on August 18, 2003, it has now been 20 years since it came out and there are some classic hits that have aged like fine wine. One in particular is “Rubber Band Man.”

An interview with MTV revealed what the meaning behind the halo track is. T.I. said, “We used to wear rubber bands to signify how much money, how much blow we had.” He went on to explain the Rubber Band Man nickname further, “I would wear three rubber bands, and that would probably hold $5,000. If you anticipate making $20,000, you gonna have eight, nine rubber bands on both wrists.” This hit, along with many others is just one reason why he needs to be mentioned with the other greats in rap history.

T.I. Reflects On Kanye West’s Fall from Grace

T.I. discussed his relationship with Kanye West recently, saying that while the controversy was once his superpower, it became his downfall. During an appearance on The Breakfast Club, the Grand Hustle founder opened up about working with West in the early ’00s. Their musical careers began around the same time, and they collaborated several times over the years. It’s also no secret that these two have also been involved in their fair share of controversy. However, despite their shared history of drama over the years, T.I. claims West took things too far.

“Kanye was cool as hell,” T.I. said. “I ain’t even gonna cap. Kanye was more conversational. He read the room a lot better. It feels like Ye got to a point where he just stopped reading the room and just gave everything everywhere.” Last fall, West made several anti-Semitic comments, prompting huge brands like Gap, Adidas, and Balenciaga to cut ties with him. The disgraced rapper and mogul continued to anger fans by aligning himself with white supremacists like Alex Jones and Nick Fuentes.

Kanye Stopped Being Able To “Read The Room,” T.I. Says

As the interview continued, Tip reflected on the 20th anniversary of his second studio album, Trap Muzik. Tip also discussed working with West on the “Doin’ My Job” track. Also, he revealed that West played him some of his earliest hits from College Dropout, including “Through the Wire,” “Jesus Walks,” and “All Falls Down.”

In other related news, the rapper is looking to take his amateur comedy career to the next level. In July, it was announced that Tip would be making his television debut as a stand-up comic during Kevin Hart‘s upcoming Comic View reboot. “I’m thrilled to partner with BET for the return of ‘Comic View’ as part of Hartbeat Weekend, making this can’t-miss celebration of comedy, music, and culture,” Hart told Variety in a statement. Release dates for full episodes of Comic View have yet to be announced. However, they will be hitting BET at some point later this year. Be on the lookout for an update on the release dates.

Chika Says She Almost Died From T.I. and Tiny’s Granddaughter Drama

In a recent interview, Chika took the opportunity to expand on the details of a recent drama. The incident involved T.I. and Tiny’s granddaughter on a Delta flight together. “I feel like people used that moment as a reason to dog pile. It was completely blown out of proportion. I have a lot of thoughts on that actually,” the rapper said. “I think that any other person on this fucking planet being frustrated and venting like that would never be taken as “harshly” as everyone else took it.” According to HipHopDx, the incident started when she tweeted out about babies that were sat near her on an airplane. She claimed that the children were misbehaving and went off the handle with an entire series of tweets.

In her new interview, Chika claims that fans were purposefully misinterpreting her sentiments in order to be upset. “There’s a lot of moving parts there that people wanted to ignore in order to have a different conversation, so I allowed them to. If I were to have read into it any further, it would’ve killed me, and it almost did. So ultimately, just let that conversation happen and let people think what they want to think because who I am is going to shine through all of that shit anyway.” People weren’t shy in their criticism of the rapper following her original tweets. In particular when she said “I hope you get a paper cut between each finger tomorrow, you senseless wench,” about the mother of the children.
