Glastonbury Festival Headliners: SZA, Coldplay, And Dua Lipa To Perform In June

It might still be chilly where you live, but as we push through the final week of winter, it’s hard to deny the liveliness of spring that’s in the air. With the warmest months of the year in the northern hemisphere right around the corner, music lovers are growing increasingly excited for another season full of live outdoor performances from the biggest names in music. Americans tend to check out Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Governor’s Ball if they want to avoid travelling too far. Meanwhile, one of the UK’s biggest events of the year, Glastonbury Festival has a seriously stacked lineup that’s drawing in more passport-friendly crowds.

The annual bash is taking place from June 26-30 at Worthy Farm, Pilton. The stacked list of performers have already been divided up into different areas; at Woodsies you’ll find DJ Jamie XX, James Blake, Sampha, Soccer Mommy, and others. Over at West Holts, Jungle, Masego, Black Pumas, and Noname will all be holding it down during their sets. The second-largest category, Other, holds Disclosure, Two Door Cinema Club, Avril Lavigne, and Headie One. Finally, Pyramid reveals out 2024 Glastonbury headliners, which include Dua Lipa, Coldplay, and Canadian country starlet Shania Twain.

SZA is Looking Forward to Glastonbury 2024

SZA will also be closing out the festival one night, and based on today’s (March 14) Instagram Story post, she seems excited. “This bout to be ins*ne,” the “Drew Barrymore” hitmaker wrote. Other noteworthy acts in Pyramid at Glastonbury are Burna Boy, Janelle Monae, and Ayra Starr.

After shaking up the industry with SOS in late 2022, SZA spent much of last year on the road touring her sophomore LP. Over the past few months, she’s been hinting at a deluxe edition of the project called Lana, which is apparently “bout to drop.” Read the latest from the TDE songstress on that at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

Earlier this morning, the first wave of artists performing at the massive Glastonbury Festival in the UK was revealed. As part of the 2024 lineup so far, Dua Lipa, Coldplay, SZA, Shania Twain, LCD Soundsystem, Idles, Disclosure, The National, Janelle Monáe, PJ Harvey, Cyndi Lauper, and many more will be performing.

The festival will be held from June 26 through June 30 this year.

Here’s what to know about how to get tickets.

How To Buy Tickets For Glastonbury Festival 2024

As of right now, tickets for Glastonbury Festival are sold out — and have been for a while. When the tickets went up for sale back in November, music lovers snapped them up within minutes.

“Our thanks to everyone who bought one and we’re sorry to those of you who missed out, on a morning when demand greatly exceeded supply,” the festival informed shortly after, according to The Standard.

However, there is still some hope. Some ticket buyers might not be able to afford it and cancel their tickets when they are set to be charged next month. If this happens, any returned tickets will go back up for sale. Only those who registered before the sale starts will be able to purchase, as Glastonbury is trying to prevent scammers.

Additional information about getting tickets for Glastonbury 2024 can be found on the festival’s website.

Why Did SZA Remove Her Breast Implants?

sza

Although SZA jokingly sang about getting various cosmetic procedures on hit album SOS, it seems at least one of them turned out to be more trouble than it was worth. While she admitted that she had gotten the trendy but controversial Brazilian butt lift in an interview last year, in a more recent interview, she alo admitted that she was forced to have her breast implants removed.

Last week, People published a preview of SZA’s then-upcoming appearance on the podcast S.H.E. MD, where she told hosts Mary Alice Haney and Dr. Thais Aliabadi that she had painful fibrosis that prompted her to have the surgery reversed. “When I got my boobs done, my doctor took out some of my fibrosis,” she said, “but.. there was so much fibrosis, it was crazy… And so, when I went back, a lot of the concerns were gone.”

However, she said, proceding despite the risks turned out to be the wrong choice for her. “So basically, I put them in,” she recalled. “They ended up hurting me. I got way too much scar tissue because my breasts are too dense and I’m not supposed to have breast implants. And so I ended up getting extra fibrosis… and I didn’t feel good and it was painful. So, I took them out, and now, they’re just my boobs.”

SZA is far from the first or only star to opt for cosmetic surgery. Around the same time SZA was teasing fans with SOS snippets, Doja Cat also went under the knife; GloRilla also got implants last year, which were probably at least partially responsible for recent slip-up on Instagram early this month. SZA isn’t alone in getting a surgery reversed either; Cardi B admitted to having her BBL undone, warning fans to seek medical advice before going under the knife.

SZA Sings About ‘Community D*ck’ On A New Snippet Teasing ‘Lana,’ Which Is ‘Bout To Drop’

It looks like we may finally be getting SZA‘s long-awaited follow-up to her critically-acclaimed sophomore album, SOS. She began teasing Lana, a deluxe edition to SOS, which she says has since evolved into it’s own body of work, back in early 2023. Now, it looks like it might finally be arriving soon.

Yesterday, SZA took to social media to tease visuals and music from the upcoming project. In the clip, she is seen dancing in a tent in her undergarments. A new song plays in the background, containing the lyrics “F*ck around and die over community d*ck / Never fight over community d*ck.”

Fans are eager to hear the new project in its entirety. In the comments, a fan asked about the song “Diamond Boy,” a fan-favorite of which portions have already leaked online. SZA revealed that “Diamond Boy” will, in fact, appear on Lana, saying that the song is “on the deluxe I’m Bout to drop.”

So far, SZA has only shared “Saturn” from Lana. She began sharing potential cover artworks for the album late last year.

At the time of writing, she has not shared a release date for Lana, but fans can look forward to hearing her on a remix of Flo Milli’s “Never Lose Me” coming this Friday (March 15).

You can see the snippet SZA shared above.

R&B Singers Who Have Appeared On “Sesame Street”

Sesame Street is an iconic kids’ show, and over the years, many R&B singers have made guest appearances. The educational series premiered decades ago, in 1969, and has since become a staple of children’s TV. Presently, with 53 seasons and counting, it is one of the longest-running shows in the world. SZA recently revealed that she has been on the set of Sesame Street and will be appearing on-screen with the muppets. While it is unknown when her episode will air, fans are definitely waiting in anticipation. Here are seven other R&B singers who have appeared on Sesame Street over the years.

Patti LaBelle

Without a doubt, Patti LaBelle is one of the greatest R&B singers to ever perform on Sesame Street. The powerhouse vocalist and Godmother of Soul has had multiple guest appearances on the show. In 1984, she made her debut appearance when she performed “Oh, How I Miss My X” on episode 2168 of the show. Subsequently, she appeared again in 1986, twice in 1990, and a handful of other times. However, arguably her most beloved showing was in 1999 when she performed “The Alphabet Song” with the muppets. With her unmistakable voice and dynamic performance style, LaBelle transformed the familiar tune into a soulful anthem.

Stevie Wonder

Another legendary guest on Sesame Street, Stevie Wonder, is an inspiration to R&B singers everywhere. He made a guest appearance on episode 514, which aired on April 13, 1973. While it’s been over five decades since, Stevie’s appearance on the show is still etched in the memories of fans young and old. In the episode, he sings “123 Sesame Street,” teaches Grover how to sing, and performs his hit song, “Superstition.” Altogether, it was a delectable treat to experience the singer’s unparalleled talent on Sesame Street.

Jamie Foxx

Soon after winning his Academy Award for Best Actor in 2005, Jamie Foxx shared a screen with Elmo and the muppets. He is among a crop of super-talented R&B singers who have appeared on Sesame Street. However, he is also a very accomplished actor as well. His first appearance was in episode 4111, in which he sang the alphabet. Subsequently, he also appeared in the Sesame Street holiday special, Elmo’s Christmas Countdown. It aired on December 23, 2007, and Foxx performed a “Nutcracker” medley, which he wrote specifically for the special.

Jill Scott

Three-time Grammy Award winner Jill Scott is a highly celebrated figure in R&B. She appeared on the children’s TV show in 2002, specifically in the first episode of season 33. Like the aforementioned R&B singers who appeared on Sesame Street, Jill Scott also gave a very memorable performance. While her time on the episode is relatively short, it is one of its highlights. Scott, joined by a chorus of muppets, beautifully sings “We Are All Earthlings.” Scott’s soulful rendition of the song resonated with viewers of all ages and continues to do so.

John Legend

John Legend’s first guest appearance on Sesame Street was in the premiere episode of season 37. On episode 4109, which aired on August 14, 2006, he sang “It Feels Good When You Sing a Song” with Hoots the Owl. Subsequently, he made another guest appearance on episode 4130, one of the later episodes of season 37. In that episode, he performed “Hello Little One.” Later, in February 2018, the singer returned to Sesame Street on episode 4814, where he performed “Come Together” with the muppets. Soon after, Legend achieved an EGOT, becoming one of the most accomplished R&B singers to ever appear on Sesame Street

Destiny’s Child

Regarded as one of the greatest girl groups of all time, Destiny’s Child’s appearance on Sesame Street was an iconic event. The Grammy-winning trio featured in episode 3984, performing “A New Way to Walk” with Grover, Elmo, and Zoe. It’s a fun rendition with a dance routine that encourages viewers to get up and move. Accordingly, the group’s infectious enthusiasm and catchy lyrics made the song an instant hit among fans.

India.Arie

Another icon among R&B singers, India.Arie, appeared on Sesame Street way back in 2005. The four-time Grammy winner was featured on episode 4100 of the children’s show, which aired on June 20, 2005. While it remains India.Arie’s sole appearance on the Sesame Street show to date is very memorable. The singer, backed up by Elmo, gave a soulful and lush performance of “The Alphabet Song.” India.Arie also has a short appearance in the Sesame Street direct-to-video release, Happy Healthy Monsters. In the home video, the singer performs “Jumping J.”

SZA & Flo Milli’s “Never Lose Me” Remix Coming On Rap Diva’s Next Album

There’s a lot of competition among female rappers these days. Instead of letting this hold them back, our favourite femcees are using it to get more creative than ever before, constantly finding new ways to set themselves apart from contemporaries. A great example of this is Flo Milli, who nearly always stays out of the way in terms of drama, but has never been known to miss when spitting over a beat. She particularly proved this during last year’s celebrations for the 50th anniversary of hip-hop and continues to make her presence felt while readying her sophomore studio album, Fine Ho, Stay.

Recent singles to come from the Alabama native include “Never Lose Me” (plus subsequent remixes with Lil Yachty and Bryson Tiller) and “BGC.” Music lovers think these titles might arrive on Milli’s next album, along with tracks like “Hot Box,” “Chocolate Rain,” and “Fruit Loop.” As her most popular release continues to make rounds on TikTok and Instagram, the 24-year-old has plans to capitalize on it even further, this time tapping a renowned female vocalist to join her on the gerreaux-produced beat.

SZA & Flo Milli Confirm Their First Collab is OTW

Since Milli first hinted at joining forces with SZA, we’ve been eagerly waiting for the next edition of “Never Lose Me” to hit streamers. However, the “Pussycat Doll” hitmaker shared via Twitter/X earlier this month that she won’t be sharing this version as a single. “I’m not putting the remix out ’til I drop my album ‘cuz [I know] how y’all get lol,” she teased. “But it’s in the box 😂🤌🏾,” the TDE songstress chimed in, letting us know she’s submitted her verse.

With her Fine Ho, Stay LP being confirmed over seven months ago now, hip-hop heads are growing curious to see who Flo Milli will reference both aesthetically and sonically throughout the project. In the meantime, we know she’ll be joining Gunna on his Bittersweet Tour, which is set to kick off in early May. Check out the full list of dates at the link below and tap back in with HNHH later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.
