Here’s what to know about how to get tickets.

How To Buy Tickets For Glastonbury Festival 2024

As of right now, tickets for Glastonbury Festival are sold out — and have been for a while. When the tickets went up for sale back in November, music lovers snapped them up within minutes.

“Our thanks to everyone who bought one and we’re sorry to those of you who missed out, on a morning when demand greatly exceeded supply,” the festival informed shortly after, according to The Standard.

However, there is still some hope. Some ticket buyers might not be able to afford it and cancel their tickets when they are set to be charged next month. If this happens, any returned tickets will go back up for sale. Only those who registered before the sale starts will be able to purchase, as Glastonbury is trying to prevent scammers.

Additional information about getting tickets for Glastonbury 2024 can be found on the festival’s website.

JAY-Z Recalls Coldplay’s Chris Martin Convincing Him To Perform Iconic Glastonbury Set

JAY-Z says that he was initially hesitant to perform at Glastonbury back in 2008, when the festival was still known for being exclusively rock. Speaking with Gayle King for a new interview on CBS Mornings, the legendary rapper explained that Chris Martin of Coldplay convinced him to go through with the groundbreaking set. When the lineup when announced, JAY-Z’s inclusion was met with widespread criticism, including from Oasis’ Noel Gallagher. In response, Hov famously learned to play the band’s hit “Wonderwall” on guitar and performed it on stage.

“At one point, I was like why am I going there,” JAY-Z recalled. “If they don’t want me there, I don’t want to go. And Chris from Coldplay was instrumental on [convincing me to play]. He was like, ‘Jay, they love you. It’s just the old guard, they don’t know. It’s always been a rock festival.’ They didn’t have anything against me personally, it was just like, this is a rock festival, this is what it is. The world was changing.”

Elsewhere in his conversation with Gayle King, JAY-Z weighed in on the long-standing hypothetical debate as to whether a dinner with him or $500,000 is more valuable. “You gotta take the money,” he said confidently. “What I’ma say? You got all that [wisdom] in the music for $10.99! That’s a bad deal. I wouldn’t tell you to cut a bad deal. Take the $500,000, go buy some albums and listen to the albums — it’s all there! If you piece it together and really listen to the music for the words, for what it is, it’s all there. Everything that I said was gonna happen, happened. Everything that I said I wanted to do, I’ve done. There’s the blueprint. The blueprint, literally, to me and my life and my journey is there already.”

Lil Nas X Was Nearly Hit By An Interesting Choice Of Sex Toy On Stage, So He Made A Joke Out Of It

At this year’s Glastonbury Festival 2023, Lil Nas X joined the growing list of musicians who’ve had items hurled at them during a concert. During his appearance at the outdoor event, the rapper was nearly hit by an interesting choice of sex toy on stage. In typical Lil Nas X fashion, instead of reprimanding the fan, he joked about it.

A video shows Lil Nas X dodging an item as it nearly grazed his leg. He then walked over to see what was thrown. After realizing it was a replica vagina or “pocket p*ssy,” as it is known in the adult entertainer industry, Lil Nas X picked it up. As he turned to the crowd, he jokingly asked, “Who threw they p*ssy on stage?”

Lil Nas X retweeted the video, which prompted fans to immediately join in on the joke. One person wrote, “I’ve heard people would throw phones, bottles, and clothing, but this is a first 😂😂😂😂😂😂.”

Another wrote, “Feel like it was part of the show lol 😂,” acknowledging Nas’ jokester way but also puzzled as to why anyone would throw female genitalia at an openly gay man.

“Now, why would you pick it up 😂,” asked one person, rightfully questioning the sanitary nature of the item.

Another was okay with throwing items at Lil Nas X but had specific stipulations about what was acceptable, writing, “The only thing you should ever throw at Lil Nas X is paper money $20 and up.”

Central Cee Gets Praise For Performing At Glastonbury Without A Backing Track

Central Cee has been receiving a great deal of praise as of late for his recent performance at Glastonbury. The British rapper took on the music festival this weekend alongside other artists like Lizzo, Lil Nas X, and many more. He also notably performed without a backing track, something social media users have expressed their appreciation for.

Central Cee’s performance in Somerset County, England got users talking. “[Central Cee’s] Glastonbury set went hardddd too good,” a Twitter user writes. He opened the show with “Khabib,” a track from his sophomore mixtape released in 2022, 23. The artist then went on to perform several fan-favorites, including “LET GO,” “Overseas,” “Obsessed With You,” and more. He also brought out his fellow UK rapper Dave to perform their new song “Sprinter.” A fan notes the “unmatched levels of talent and energy on that stage,” in a comment on UK Rap Daily‘s shared clip of the artists’ performance. Social media users had previously speculated that Dave may make an appearance. They were ecstatic to see him finally joining Central Cee onstage to perform the single.

Central Cee Gets His Flowers

The beginning of the set paid tribute to the artist’s late friend FDot, who was also a rapper. He passed away in January of this year after being stabbed only blocks from his West London home at the age of 23. Central Cee closed his Glastonbury set with his 2022 song “Doja,” which samples Eve and Gwen Stefani’s “Let Me Blow Ya Mind.” The track famously references Doja Cat, and was joined by an accompanying music video directed by Lyrical Lemonade’s Cole Bennett.

Fans also noted the fact that he was joined onstage with a baby at one point in the show. He held the child throughout most of his performance of “Sprinter” with Dave, later letting the child down to stand on the stage. “Central Cee babysitting at Glastonbury is too funny,” one fan wrote alongside laughing emojis, “the kid was on stage confused.”

Rina Sawayama Calls Out Matty Healy: “I’ve Had Enough!”

Rina Sawayama slammed Matty Healy on stage at Glastonbury 2023, over the weekend, to introduce her song, “STFU.” The swipe comes after The 1975 singer recently dealt with a racism controversy regarding an appearance on The Adam Friedland Show podcast. Sawayama, without mentioning Healy by name, also remarked about him consuming “ghetto gaggers” porn.

“I wrote this because I was sick & tired of these micro-aggressions,” Sawayama said on stage. “This goes out to a white man that watches Ghetto Gaggers & mocks Asian people on a podcast. He also owns my masters! I’ve had enough!”

As for Healy’s comments, he, as well as comedians Adam Friedland and Nick Mullen referred to Ice Spice as a “chubby Chinese lady.” They also described her as “Inuit”, “Chinese”, and “Hawaiian.” After plenty of backlash, Healy finally apologized while onstage with The 1975 in Auckland, New Zealand. “I just feel a bit bad, and I’m kind of a bit sorry if I’ve offended you. Ice Spice, I’m sorry. It’s not because I’m annoyed that me joking got misconstrued. It’s because I don’t want Ice Spice to think I’m a dick. I love you, Ice Spice. I’m so sorry,” he said at the time.

He continued: “I don’t want anything like that misconstrued to be mean. I’m not… I hate… I don’t mind being a bit of a joker. […] It’s OK for me to be, like, a trickster or whatever, but I don’t want to be perceived as, like, being barmy. Because honestly, I just love you guys, and I love doing this. […] The truth I just want to say, ‘Hello. This is a bit embarrassing. I’m sorry if I get it wrong. We all get it wrong,’ you know? I just have to do it in public and then apologize to Ice Spice. My life’s just a bit weird. I am genuinely sorry if I’ve upset her because I f*cking love her.”

Here Are The Glastonbury Festival Set Times For 2023

The set times for Glastonbury Festival 2023 have been announced, nearly a month before the five-day festival is due to return to its home at Worthy Farm, Pilton, Somerset, England on June 21-25. This year’s headliners include Arctic Monkeys, Guns N’ Roses, and a special, farewell performance from national treasure Elton John. Further highlights of the event include Lizzo, Lil Nas X, Wizkid, Lana Del Rey, Queens Of The Stone Age, Kelis, Loyle Carner, Christine And The Queens, Phoenix, Fatboy Slim, Rick Astley, and more.

With eleven stages and related events taking place in the surrounding area beginning Wednesday before the festival proper, there is plenty to do for the weekend, and Glastonbury’s website has a full list of just about every official event/set on its website now. In addition to the main festival stages, a sidebar includes links to all of the venues hosting Glastonbury artists as the utterly sprawling festival takes over Pilton.

One artist who won’t be making an appearance is Slowthai, who was dropped from the lineup following news he’d been accused of sexual assault, while the festival’s organizers addressed the festival’s dearth of female headliners shortly after announcing the lineups this year. “We’re trying our best so the pipeline needs to be developed,” said co-organizer Emily Eavis. “This starts way back with the record companies, radio. I can shout as loud as I like but we need to get everyone on board. It’s top of our agenda, and it probably makes it a bit harder because we’ve decided to make that important to us. To be honest, sometimes it’s easier to keep your head down.”

Slowthai Dropped From Glastonbury, Other Festivals Amid Rape Charges

Northampton rapper Slowthai has been removed from the lineups of two major music festivals in the U.K. His removal follows recent news that he is now facing two rape charges. The rapper was scheduled to perform at England’s Glastonbury Festival in June, but his name has now been removed from the lineup poster. Slowthai also had scheduled performances at both Reading and Leeds Festivals in August. His name also no longer appears in those lineups. Slowthai is also scheduled to perform at various other music festivals across the U.K. in upcoming months, but it is unclear whether the rapper was dropped from those festivals as well.

Yesterday (May 16), news broke that the rapper has appeared in court, facing two charges of rape. He was charged with the oral and vaginal penetration of a woman without her consent in Oxford in September of 2021. The rapper was released on bail and is set to appear next month at Oxford crown court. In his recent court appearance, he only spoke once to confirm his name, date of birth, and address.

Slowthai Says He’s Innocent

The rapper took to Instagram to defend himself shortly after the news broke. He wrote to his followers, “i am innocent and I am confident my name will be cleared.” Adding, “until then i will apply my energy to ensure this is concluded swiftly and justly.” He then asked his supporters not to “comment about this situation,” and to “respect the process and privacy of [his] family at this time.”

Slowthai released his third album, Ugly, in March of this year. Discussing the album, he said “People see you as a character. They don’t actually know who you are. You’re stereotyped as the nutter who gets in his boxers.” He continued, “I was doing that to show that you should be free at shows and enjoy yourself but you choose to see me as an idiot.” “It doesn’t matter what or who people think you are, you’ve just got to stay true and respect yourself,” he added. He called his “ugly” face tattoo, “a reminder to love myself, rather than put myself down constantly or feel the impression people have of me should determine who I am as a person.”

Glastonbury’s Co-Organizer Addressed The Lack Of Female Headliners In The Just-Announced 2023 Lineup

Earlier today (March 3), the headliners for this year’s Glastonbury festival was revealed, and leading the iconic UK event are Elton John, Arctic Monkeys, and Guns N’ Roses. After the reveal, Glastonbury co-organizer Emily Eavis spoke about this year’s all-male headliners (although female musician Melissa Reese joined Guns N’ Roses in 2016).

She described the situation as a “pipeline” issue, saying to The Guardian, “We’re trying our best so the pipeline needs to be developed. This starts way back with the record companies, radio. I can shout as loud as I like but we need to get everyone on board.” She added, “It’s top of our agenda, and it probably makes it a bit harder because we’ve decided to make that important to us. To be honest, sometimes it’s easier to keep your head down.”

On the female headliner front, things are expected to look better next year: Eavis says they’re anticipating having two female headliners, with one confirmed and one nearly confirmed.

The full lineup is not yet here, but as The Guardian notes, there is diversity among the 54 acts listed on today’s poster: 52 percent of them are male and 46 percent are non-white or feature non-white members. Eavis noted she’s “entirely focused on balancing our bill,” adding, “It’s not just about gender, it’s about every aspect of diversity. […] We’re probably one of the only big shows that’s really focused on this.”
