Gillie & Wallo Offer Kodak Black Some Touching Words Of Encouragement Amid Scandals

Kodak Black has been through a lot in his life, seeing all the highs and lows of fame along with a string of personal issues and run-ins with the law. While many might solely attribute this to his own choices, there are a lot of folks within the hip-hop community and outside of it with genuine concern for his well-being and a desire for him to get better. For example, Gillie and Wallo recently sat down to talk to Yak, and the latter gave an impassioned speech to him about his purpose, his special nature, his commitments, and his potential.

Elsewhere, Wallo remarked on how Kodak Black lights up when he hears about his children and how people show love whenever they see him. He also told the Florida rapper to not focus on the Internet mobs laughing, mocking, or criticizing at his expense, as neither they nor Wallo truly know his pain. But Kodak has people counting on him, and also a lot of special talent that many similarly talented folks in his position didn’t get the chance to fully benefit from. In addition, the podcaster told the artist to help change the narrative around the community and foster a more positive outlook and example for their peers.

“Don’t hurt yourself, brother, and that’s why we come down here,” Wallo told Kodak Black. “It’s about what you feel inside of yourself.” At the end, they stood up and embraced in a show of love and support, which we hope to see more of down the line.

However, other fans chose to engage with this from a more critical perspective, questioning Smurk’s movement and his past music with this new context in mind. In it, federal authorities allege that Lil Durk booked two flights after five alleged OTF affiliates were arrested in his home city of Chicago. They were to Dubai and Switzerland, and the feds allege that he sought to flee the country.

Before the plane could leave and he could make a decision, U.S. Marshals arrested him. As for the motive behind all of this, law enforcement alleges that The Voice paid the five aforementioned individuals to carry out an unsuccessful hit on Quando Rondo in 2022. The shooting that took Rondo’s cousin Lul Pab’s life was allegedly connected to this hit. According to federal authorities’ allegations, this was in retaliation for the 2020 murder of King Von.

He’s since been found guilty and sentenced to ten years behind bars, but the situation still has social media users split.

Shannon Sharpe also previously made wildly uncalled-for sexual remarks about the hitmaker. He later apologized for it on Club Shay Shay in July. She discussed the debacle during a recent interview with Billboard, revealing whether or not she wishes she was more supported by Black men. She admitted that if she had been asked this a few years ago, her answer would have been far different than it is now.

Bun B & Boi-1da Dismiss Sauce Walka’s Belief That Drake Doesn’t Have Love For Houston Rappers

Yesterday in an interview with The Breakfast Club, veteran Houston, Texas rapper Sauce Walka voiced his strong opinion on Drake. According to him, The Boy doesn’t have as much of an appreciation for the former’s hometown rap scene as the latter would have you believe. This is something that Sauce has expressed since 2015 way back when Drizzy held his Houston Appreciation Weekend. However, pretty recently, these two have reconciled, so bringing these feelings back to the surface is a little interesting. Overall, it seems that the trend in hip-hop for 2024 is to pile on the Canadian megastar.

As for what Sauce had to say exactly, here are a couple of quotes from his sit-down with Charlamagne tha God and the crew. “Still to this day, why does Drake not have a bunch of records with Houston artists? You’ve been doing that with Atlanta. It’s 7, 8, 9, 15 artists that you got songs with in Atlanta”. “Travis Scott is still the only rapper that’s got a song with Drake. It makes sense ’cause it’s an equal trade. It’s not like, ‘I’m helping Houston and changing your life’”. “It’s about fair exchange and business. If you are using the lineage and the culture of somebody’s city, do something that helps not yourself; do something that actually makes the economy of that city and music bigger and greater”.

Another comment that Sauce Walka made was in regard to acknowledging the fact that Drake did work with Bun B. However, “No disrespect to Bun B, [but] he’s from Port Arthur; he’s not from Houston. This is Houston, Texas we talking about”. This got around to the UGK legend, and it led to him responding via a dedicated Instagram post, according to HipHopDX. “Born in Houston. Northwood Manor. Stunna posted graphic pictures of her wounds on her Instagram Story earlier in the day. With her message, JT revealed she had already reached out behind the scenes but wanted to make a public comment.

XXXTENTACION’s Father Thanks Kendrick Lamar For His Support Of X’s Career

Kendrick Lamar was a big fan of XXXTENTACION’s music before the latter’s tragic passing, something that his family won’t soon forget. Moreover, the Florida rapper’s father posted a video thanking the Compton lyricist for his support of his son’s career, specifically his shout-out of the 2017 project 17. Of course, given X’s history of domestic abuse and similar, albeit unconfirmed, accusations against K.Dot, this relationship falls under a darker context. But it doesn’t change the appreciation that the late MC’s family showed to the former TDE member, nor does it justify past actions or close the door on accountability, growth, learning, or recovery.

In addition, the mention of Spotify also brings up one of Kendrick Lamar’s controversial alleged moves when it comes to XXXTENTACION. The streaming service threatened to remove X, R. Kelly, and others’ music due to their criminal behavior, something that Kendrick’s label fought against because it would be unjust to subject Black musicians to this rule and not white counterparts. Nevertheless, many saw it as a direct defense of X’s actions despite the real story being more complicated and not directly from Mr. Morale. It’s still a hot-button issue, and one that came up in his beef with Drake.

Speaking of the Toronto superstar, his relationship to XXXTENTACION is much different to Kendrick Lamar’s. They had some rumored beef that involved direct shots and accusations from X, and Drake was even accused of having a hand in his murder. These rumors were quickly debunked by both a court of law and by X’s close friends and loved ones. His legacy is a very complicated one, but Kendrick was one of those who saw the good in him despite the warranted backlash that this empathy prompted.
