Boosie Badazz Calls Bobby Shmurda “One Of The Realest” Young Rappers

During a recent appearance on the Whoos House podcast, Boosie Badazz gave praise to Bobby Shmurda. He suggested that Shmurda’s six years of prison time ought to be “saluted,” claiming that he has more to show for his lifestyle than some of his peers. Boosie had previously shown his respect for Shmurda’s refusal to “snitch” amid his charges. “SOLID AS A ROCK!!” he said in 2019. “It’s a shame how the world don’t glorify the REAL ONES SMH. Rats get mo love then the stand up guys.” Shmurda served time for conspiracy to possess weapons and possession of a weapon.

Shmurda recently appeared on The Danza project podcast, where he discussed the influence of rap on the younger generation. “These kids are following you guys, and you’re rapping about these f*cking lifestyles…and it’s very dangerous to the communities [because] these little kids [really] think that [it’s] going on, and you did not even live [any] [of] [it],” he explained. The artist went on to say, “Rap is supposed to be telling motherf*ckers to go from negative to positive, coming from poverty to go to riches…and how to stay in that and how to change. That’s the sh*t that I want to hear. I wanna hear about living life…”

Boosie Salutes Bobby Shmurda

Boosie shared his own message to the younger generation last month. “Never become no street n***a,” he told his fans. “Don’t ever become no gangster, bro. Always gotta have n***as with you, always gotta be trying to protect yourself, looking over your shoulder. S**t don’t even be worth it, bro.” He went on to say, “You get older you be like, ‘Damn, man.’ Lotta s**t come with this s**t. It’s the only thing that matter, bruh, staying alive. This ain’t the life you want, though, dog. All y’all young n***as out there, this ain’t the life you want.”

Last year, Shmurda took to Instagram to share his thoughts on rappers playing “dress-up” with their lifestyles. “I don’t want to be named as a rapper no more, bro,” he explained. “It’s like when you do that rapper sh*t, n****s like try to come for that light. It’s just nasty like these labels is nasty. Look at what they just did to Tory [Lanez]. That sh*t is nasty, my n***a.” He continues, “Then the whole rap community that’s f*cking supporting these n****s. Y’all n****s is disgusting my n***a, cause these the same people that come from saying that they live our lifestyle, they came from our lifestyle. These motherf*ckers is out here playing dress up right now.”

Janelle Monae On Supporting LGBTQ Community: “I Will Never Sit Back & Be Silent”

Janelle Monae says that they will “never sit back and be silent” about injustices facing the LGBTQ community. The singer discussed the recent passage of laws across the U.S. targeting drag as well as trans people during an interview with NBC4 Washington.

When asked how to respond to the oppressive laws, Monae said: “You respond by fighting back, by speaking out against, standing with our trans community, my siblings. As a nonbinary, queer, pansexual person, I am proud to be in this community. I will never sit back and be silent about the injustices that are happening against our trans community.”

It’s not the first time Monae has addressed the topic. They also spoke about supporting the LGBTQ community during a recent interview with The Sydney Morning Herald. “There are a lot of laws being put in place around my trans family and the LGBTQI+ communities and even Black folks — you can’t even talk about certain things in school anymore,” they said at the time. “Those who are trans, they’re literally trying to erase their existence and not treat them with human decency. So, of course we fight, but even in the middle of the fight we take time to find joy.”

Monae also remarked: “I feel like I’m one of the most vocal, loud and proud, pansexual, queer, non-binary, black folks who have a platform! I feel I’ve said a lot. I don’t feel uncomfortable now, thank God. But I know there are a lot of people who may be uncomfortable with it, who don’t have to feel rushed or forced into talking about something that is private for most folks. There is no right or wrong way to talk about being in the LGBTQI+ community. As long as it’s with love, it’s fine.”

Janelle Monae Celebrates Pride

The comments from Monae come ahead of the release of their new album, The Age of Pleasure. They announced the project alongside the release of “Lipstick Lover,” last month. It’s scheduled to release on Friday, June 9, 2023.

Lil Wayne Shows His Support For Writers’ Strike By Treating Them To A Burger Truck

The WGA writers’ strike has taken the entertainment world by storm as writers demand more fair working conditions, better pay, and a better relationship with streaming platforms. Moreover, Drey Barrymore is one of many figures boycotting Hollywood events in order to make their support felt on a large scale. While it’s been a rough month for the guild, they continue to make powerful statements both online and through their physical presence to put pressure for a greater goal. What’s more is that their efforts transcended beyond the film and TV industry. For example, Lil Wayne is the latest rap icon to stand by the writers on strike, sending them a Fatburger food truck to feed those on the picket line.

Furthermore, Weezy graced them with the truck on Thursday afternoon (May 25) for lunch. At the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank, California, actor Greg Berlanti had already provided breakfast. “Thank you, Lil Wayne, for sending a @Fatburger truck to the picket lines today,” TV writer Gennefer Gross wrote on Twitter. “AND for having a turkey burger so I can keep this #StrikeBodSummer going! #WritersStrike #WGAStrong.”

Lil Wayne Does His Part To Support The Writers’ Strike

Previously, Snoop Dogg also shared his support of the WGA strike and spoke on the negative effects of streaming platforms on the industry. “[Artists] need to figure it out the same way the writers are figuring it out,” the California rap legend asserted. “The writers are striking because [of] streaming; they can’t get paid. Because when it’s on the platform, it’s not like in the box office.

“I don’t understand how the f**k you get paid off of that s**t,” Snoop Dogg continued. “Somebody explain to me how you can get a billion streams and not get a million dollars? That’s the main gripe with a lot of us artists is that we do major numbers. But it don’t add up to the money. Like, where the f**k is the money?” Hopefully the industry does what it must to support the writers who are its backbone. We’d guess that this won’t be the last (nor the biggest) way in which these entertainment industries support each other. For more news and the latest updates on Lil Wayne, check back in with HNHH.

Yung Joc’s Emotive Instagram Post Gets Support From Soulja Boy, The Game & More

Yung Joc recently showed his tears to the world in an emotive Instagram post on Friday (May 12) that resonated with many fans and industry figures. Moreover, the Atlanta rapper lamented the state of the world today, remarking on senseless violence, division, and drug use ruining lives. Overall, it was a very tough video to watch for its palpable emotions, but he did suggest some hope, unity, and love towards the end of his message. Unfortunately, some online clowned him for posting something like this out of the blue. Furthermore, there were so many more messages of support, sympathy, and respect, some from his hip-hop peers.

“Raw Emotions,” Yung Joc began his post’s caption. “No hiding behind facades. Can I cry in front of the world? Why am I crying? This world is such a wicked place at times. Our kids are dying before they can live in these streets. Our homes are filled with hate because it’s all around us. Destruction is prevalent. Drugs are running rampant in our community. So many are confused. Ascension is a necessity. Let it out in front of the world. Do you ever feel like just letting it all out? Some will laugh and that’s expected. Some will tap in to see if I’m ok and that’s appreciated. I begging for mercy on all of us no soul unaccounted for. I Love You.”

Yung Joc’s Powerful Post

After his post went viral, Busta Rhymes, Soulja Boy, and The Game were among many to express care for the Bad Boy artist. “We’re here with you and for you King!!” Busta commented under his post. In addition, the California MC left a simple praying emoji in the comments. “You got this,” Soulja wrote to Yung Joc, adding a very important and often overlooked message. “Stay strong and focused. Crying doesn’t make you weak- not being able to express yourself does.”

Hopefully the 42-year-old feels better these days and felt that wave of support as powerfully as others witnessed his emotions. These may be famous figures, but they go through many of the same emotions, struggles, and fears we do. With this in mind, make sure to check in on your loved ones every once in a while. The difference is more than we can imagine. With that in mind, stay logged into HNHH for the latest news and updates on Yung Joc.

Brittney Griner & Her Wife Appear At NAACP Image Awards, Thank Everyone For Their Support

Brittney Griner and her wife Cherelle appeared at this year’s NAACP Image Awards and thanked everyone for their support during Brittney’s Russian prison stint. Moreover, authorities in Russia arrested the WNBA player for carrying cannabis, and she faced inhumane conditions while behind bars. Afterwards, many organizations, individuals, government figures, and activists worked hard to try and get her back home. Thankfully, a prison swap facilitated her release, and she was able to return home in December. Following her release, she and her partner had some appreciative words for the crowd at the awards ceremony.

Furthermore, Brittney’s wife thanked all of those who sought to free Brittney, “many of whom are Black women. And Black-led organizations who fought so hard to bring BG home tonight,” she expressed. On her part, the Phoenix Mercury player had some short but powerful words for the crowd. “It feels so good to be here. Especially with my beautiful, amazing wife and with all of y’all here today.” Since Brittney’s release, there’s been no shortage of celebrities, public figures, and fans celebrating her freedom.

Brittney Griner Is Thankful At The NAACP Image Awards

For example, NBA superstar Steph Curry took the time to shout out Griner and the U.S. government’s actions during his Sports Illustrated “Sportsperson of the Year” speech. “We are glad she’s home, we’re glad she’s reunited with her family,” he expressed. “It’s a constant reminder for everybody continuing to use their platforms to speak on issues that are meaningful and can move the needle. Thank you to President Biden’s administration for being a part of that fight. But, it’s also a reminder that we all need to stay engaged in the fight to protect American citizens at home and abroad who are wrongfully detained, and we can continue to be engaged in that fight.”

Meanwhile, the 32-year-old recently announced that she will return to the court for a one-year contract, giving her at lease one more season with the Phoenix Mercury. If this was her last season, no one could blame her based on what she’s gone through, but at least she gets to enjoy the sport again. “It feels so good to be home!” she wrote on Instagram. “The last 10 months have been a battle at every turn. I dug deep to keep my faith and it was the love from so many of you that helped keep me going. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone for your help.” Stick around on HNHH for the latest on Brittney Griner.

Eminem isn’t the only rapper to speak out in support of James in recent days. Griselda’s Westside Gunn also addressed the incident in a post on social media.

“I was waiting until the official statement to be released please keep my brother in y’all prayers [open hands emoji],” Gunn wrote. “He’s a strong soul and fighter he’s still talking bout GXFR x 227 forever!!! Just hearing them words broke me down but GOD IS THE GREATEST and BO gonna be better than ever”

Other artists to speak out in support of James include Royce Da 5’9″, Statik Slektah, Open Mike Eagle, and more.

Noah “40” Shebib Shows Support For Megan Thee Stallion

Drake and his long-time in-house producer, Noah “40” Shebib have seemingly always been on the same page.

Ever since The Boy’s second mixtape, 2007’s Comeback Season, 40 has notably produced on every single project.

Continuing tradition, the two OVO Sound co-founders collaborated for multiple tracks on Drizzy’s latest offering – the 21 Savage collab album, Her Loss.

Upon its release early last month, the world was witness to the “Jimmy Cooks” rapper shockingly taking shots at Megan Thee Stallion. On the ninth track, the Daft Punk-sampling “Circo Loco,” the Toronto native accuses Meg of lying about getting shot. “This b*tch lie ’bout gettin’ shots, but she still a stallion / She don’t even get the joke, but she still smilin’,” he raps in the first verse.

“Shorty say she graduated, she ain’t learn enough / Play your album, track one, ‘kay, I heard enough,” he later continues. There has been speculation that he may not have been trying to reference Meg directly. However, the lyrics certainly seem self-explanatory.

In an Instagram post from On Canada Project last week, the social wellness organization promoted their support for the “Savage” rapper amid the trial. The post includes a number of tweets defending the San Antonio native from the public shame she was experiencing after the 2020 incident.

The Canadian producer liked the post and subsequently left a comment with emojis representing applause and praise for the caption.

The comment is certainly causing some confusion, considering Drake and Shebib’s close relationship. Although the producer doesn’t have a production credit on “Circo Loco,” he does have a writing credit.

Regardless, the lyrics were in poor taste from the jump. However, now that Lanez has been found guilty on all three charges against him, the attack is even more of a bad look for Drizzy. It still remains unclear as to why he decided to take aim at her in the song. The Toronto superstar has yet to address the bars publicly, despite calls for him to do so.

“And…I still haven’t listened to Drake’s latest album because of that disgusting lyric in reference to Meg!! I hope his apology is just as loud. Justice has been served, Merry Christmas everyone. #WeStandWithMegan,” wrote comedian London Hughes in a tweet following the guilty verdict.
