Consequence, Rick Ross, Ghostface Killah, Jim Jones And 38 Spesh Drop “Blood Stain III”

Consequence has quietly been dropping great songs all year. “No Consequences” was a great collab with Kanye West, and “What Has America Done” saw the G.O.O.D. Music alum team up with Chuck D. “Blood Stain III” keeps his winning streak going. The difference here, though, is that Consequence is pulling out all the stops. He didn’t call upon one hip hop legend, but a whole roster of them to drop by and deliver stellar verses. Plus, one of the most infectious Kanye West beats in a minute.

Consequence handles the hook on “Blood Stain III,” but he relinquishes ground to his guests. Ghostface Killah kicks things off with an aggressive, punchline driven verse. He hasn’t lost a step, and Kanye even throws in a few RZA-esque punching effects to sell the Wu-Tang of it all. Rick Ross is the next rapper up, and he skates with a verse that’s slicker and more braggadocios than Ghost’s. Jim Jones is not a name you might have expected to see on a 2024 posse cut, but he acclimates well. He doesn’t rap so much as he talks ish over the beat, but it still sounds good. 38 Spesh closes out the guest verses, and he does his usual thing on the back end. Consequence wraps the song up himself, and delivers arguably the second best verse. Check this one out ASAP.

Lil Tjay And Polo G Get Contemplative On “Way Out The Hood II”

Lil Tjay and Polo G are a slept on duo. They have repeatedly shown that they have great chemistry together on songs like “Back to the Wall” and “Pop Out.” They have similar, sing-songy flows and rap styles, but are distinct enough to stand out from one another on a song. “Way Out the Hood II” is the latest instance of Lil Tjay and Polo G working together, and it’s one of their best releases yet. It’s the sequel to Tjay’s “Way Out the Hood” from October, and we’d argue he improved on the original.

“Way Out the Hood II” is just as somber as the first part. It’s basically the same instrumental, which isn’t a problem given how dramatic and affecting the piano keys buried in the mix are. Lil Tjay reflects on the horrors he’s witnessed growing up, and his desire to escape. It’s a highly personal song that could have been disrupted by a poorly chosen guest feature. Fortunately, Polo G’s aesthetic lines up perfectly with the song and its thematic focus. “I can tell you the truth, how it happened,” he rapped. “JIust hopped in the booth, started spazzin’. Me and Tjay in this Coupe, it’s an Aston. Remember I kept gettin’ news that was tragic.” Lil Tjay and Polo G give listeners a lot to think about. Maybe we will be lucky enough to get part three.

Wiz Khalifa Drops A Weed Smoker’s Dream Track “Hit It Once”

One of the kings of vibe in the hip-hop genre is back this weekend. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania rapper Wiz Khalifa is here with “Hit It Once,” a new single from his upcoming Kush + Orange Juice 2 project. Of course, this will be the official sequel to his wildly popular 2010 mixtape of the same name. As you all are aware by know, outside of Snoop Dogg, there really isn’t anyone who is more of weed connoisseur than Wiz. It’s been his brand since coming out back in during the last decade and it’s propelled him to an incredible amount of success.

So, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it! That’s the formula for “Hit It Once,” although there is a fun adjustment to it this time through. Here, Wiz Khalifa embraces the reggae sounds to create a truly immersive and intoxicating listening experience. He does have two pretty substantial verses on the track. However, they still get lost in the very woozy, pleasant, and calm instrumental and we mean that in the best way. This truly is one of the most vibe-heavy singles all year long. So far, this is the fourth promotional release from Kush + Orange Juice 2. From what we know, it should be a stacked project, with Don Toliver and Smoke DZA already in the fold, including tons of big-ticket producers like Lex Luger, Ty Dolla $ign, Cardo, and more.

Quotable Lyrics:

Sometimes I roll a joint so long, it look like two together
They’ll probably say it’s cool to smoke, I’m taking full advantage
I’m filling joints like you do at campus
I’m taking off, hit you when I’m landing
She got the weed rolled, it’s in the candles (Ooh)

Russ Asks “How Long” On Contemplative And Reflective New Single

Russ is back with another new single. He dropped a single last week called “SSX Tricky,” named after the popular mid-2000s video game. That was a more soulful track, with Russ looking inward and reflecting on his childhood and music come up. It was a high-quality track, seemingly attached to an album rollout, though it is unclear when that album is dropping. “How Long” is more melodramatic in nature, with a beat that borders on lo-fi and a much more restrained delivery than the confidence he exuded on “SSX Tricky.”

“How Long” sees Russ reflecting on an old flame, wondering out loud how long it will take for her to get over him. Of course, he is not over her and it shows in every line. He talks about his house feeling “twice as big” without her and the emptiness that comes with a breakup. He wishes for her (whoever she may be) to be back by his side, as nothing he does alone can compare to the partnership he had. It’s a well-put-together track with some emotions behind it. It will be another good song for his album, assuming there is a new one on the way, which seems to be the case. Check out “How Long” and its accompanying music video below.

Russ – How Long

Quotable Lyrics:

Yeah, when I was with you, I felt twice as rich (I did)
Now without you, this mansion feels like it’s as twice as big
The emptiness is palpable, the silence feels like suffocation
My New Year’s resolution was to stop drinkin’, now I’m f***in’ faded, f**k
Everywhеre I go, everything I do, I still see you
‘Causе we went everywhere together, we did everything together
I still see you (Yeah, yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah)
Your jewelry and your Polaroid pictures
Scattered around my house, your Burberry scent lingers

JasonMartin Drops Bouncy New Single “Cookie”

JasonMartin (formerly known as Problem) has been one of the more consistent acts out of California for much of the last decade. The Compton rapper released CHUPACABRA, his second joint album with the legendary DJ Quik, this past June. He followed that up with a smattering of new singles, also dropping a five-track EP in November. And now, he’s back with his latest single, “Cookie,” which at the time of writing, is a YouTube-exclusive single. “Cookie” is a quick track, clocking in at just two minutes. It makes the most of its runtime, with a bouncy beat and bassline that sounds ready for a car speaker.

JasonMartin raps with an effortless flow on the new track. He raps about Compton and women, and he does so in a way that is sure to get stuck in a listener’s head. JasonMartin has long been linked to those in the Top Dawg Entertainment camp. His latest album has an Ab-Soul feature on the final track, and he rapped with ScHoolboy Q in 2023. Since Kendrick Lamar released GNX, fans have been hoping for remixes of songs from the album, and JasonMartin’s name has been floated around. Despite a longtime friendship, the two have never done a song together. If any remixes are on the way, the former Problem will be someone that fans are checking for. Give “Cookie” a listen below.

Tory Lanez Drops Off His Shortest “Lost Tape” Yet With “Camera Phone” Alongside “Undecided”

It’s another One Umbrella reunion for this week’s edition of Tory Lanez’s “Lost Tapes.” If you have been following the site for the last couple of months, you know what the Canadian multi-talent is up to right now. He’s been sharing two (sometimes three) tracks a week from his stash of throwaways that never got a home on a project. There are times where Tory flexes his duality as an artist by rapping on one and singing on the other. Additionally, he will hit listeners with a specific tone or relatively similar theme between them. Or the Alone At Prom creator will revisit a particular year.

He’s done it all, even including some collabs with his signees. This week, he’s got a track with VV$ Ken, an Orlando, Florida rapper who’s been with One Umbrella since 2020. Also, an angle to look at is the fact that he’s got his shortest track in this care package. That would a 2018 recording called “Camera Phone.” “Undecided” is the other release, and it’s from 2022. Finally, Tory probably just gave us his freakiest and most sexually charged cuts to date. If you don’t believe us, check them out below.

Bad Bunny Previews His Next Album With Dance Floor Ready “EL CLúb”

There really isn’t anyone bigger in his respective genre than Bad Bunny right now. The Puerto Rican native has been producing hit after hit for about eight years now. No matter when or what he drops, his tracks and projects always seem to do respectable to massive numbers. His latest single, “EL CLúb,” is already becoming another smash, with over 2.1 million views on YouTube. That’s good for the number six overall spot in trending for music. This is Benito’s second single of 2024, and it follows the release of “Una Velita” back in September. It was a pretty somber release focusing on life’s sometimes unrelenting wave of obstacles and how difficult it can be to overcome them.

Somewhat conversely, “EL CLúb,” is aptly titled for where it will see a lot of success (the nightclub). However, it’s still a pretty sad track if you know how to read Spanish or translate the lyrics to your native language. Bad Bunny is struggling with the loss of a former partner, and he’s at the club trying to cope with his nagging emotions. Based how the verses are being presented, it sounds like he’s having a heated conversation with this woman, and she rips into Benito for not being what she had hoped. It’s a banger though, as it blends reggaeton, edm, and house in an effective and trippy way. It’s also the lead single for a 2025 album, currently abbreviated as DTmF.

I don’t know what happened
I prayed to God, but He ghosted me too

Big Hit & Hit-Boy Are “Bigger Than Life” On Soulful New Single

In May 2023, Big Hit, father of producer Hit-Boy, was released from prison after a nine-year sentence. Once he came home, he immediately got back in the studio. His first album, The Truth Is In My Eyes, was a collaborative effort with his son. In January 2024, he released Paisley Dreams, a joint album with legendary Compton rapper The Game. Following that, he got to do a joint album with both Hit-Boy and the iconic Alchemist. Unfortunately, Big Hit went back to jail in October. It is unclear what for. In the meantime, his son is releasing new music on his behalf.

“Bigger Than Life” is one of the 700 songs Hit-Boy’s father recorded in the last year and a half. The beat is soulful, in line with some of the production that Hit-Boy gave Nas during their run. He brings a West Coast slant to it all, with a smooth flow that sounds like something from a previous era of California hip-hop. Hit-Boy, who has been rapping more often recently, also sounds at home over the beat. There was a time where he never stepped from behind the boards. Those days seem to be long gone. The accompanying video is also shot like an old-school music video, rapping next to a lowrider and the video itself being shot on film. Hit-Boy raps his verse in a barber shop, shot in black and white. The track ends with old home videos of Hit-Boy, while his father delivers a message. Check out “Bigger Than Life” below.

I’m runnin’ down the currency, in an emergency
It’s usually a burglary or probably a murder scene

In the hole, f***in’ with brodies, know most of my foes is cronies

Quavo Continues To Experiment With Country On Teddy Swims & Luke Bryan-Assisted “Georgia Ways”

Throughout his career, Quavo has always been viewed as the most versatile of his now former rap group, Migos. We have seen how effortless it is for him to crossover into other genres. Pop is one that he most frequents. Collabs with Liam Payne, Justin Bieber, Halsey, Bebe Rexha, and more are just a few examples. But lately, the Georgia MC and singer has been pushing his limits and going through a more intense creative renaissance overall. The interpolation of Lenny Kravitz’s “Fly Away” counts, but it’s just the tip of the iceberg.

Quavo has been showing love to the country scene, with “Tough” featuring Lana Del Rey being the first example back in July. When we saw this collab, we didn’t know what to expect. However, it went over really well and it’s actually his most popular song on Spotify right now with over 175 million streams. Now, he’s diving even deeper into the roots of the genre with this new single, “Georgia Ways.” The music video of him and the songs guests– Luke Bryan and Teddy Swims– fishing in the Georgia backcountry accurately describes the vibe of it. Each of their verses hear them highlight the things they remember/love most about their Georgia roots. It’s a state anthem for sure and it could be another future streaming darling for Quavo.

Skepta Is The “Alpha” And The “Omega” On Lex Luger-Produced Single

It’s almost been a full year since UK grime icon Skepta announced his next album, Knife and Fork. It will be his sixth studio effort, and first rap tape since his 2020 joint effort with Chip and Young Adz, Insomnia. In terms of solo bodies of work, we got our last serving in the genre from him in 2019 with Ignorance is Bliss. He’s been doing some incredible work in the house space with some spare loosies. But the time is near for Big Smoke, and we cannot wait. Unfortunately, a release date remains hidden from us. It’s got us feeling we will receive the LP sometime early next year.

But of course, we are hoping it arrives before 2024’s end, as there are still a few weeks remaining. He’s been keeping fans fed with four and potentially five promotional singles since the title reveal, though. “Jangrova” with Idris Elba, Tribal Mark, and ODUMODUBLVCK got things started. “Gas Me Up (Diligent),” “Tony Montana,” “Miss Independent,” and “Why Lie?” with Flo Milli then followed suit. All of that brings us to “Alpha Omega,” a big boss cut with some terrific production from one of the trap legends, Lex Luger. If you know your Greek alphabet, alpha is the first letter and omega is the last. He’s essentially letting everyone know that he was here from the start and will be at the end thanks to his work ethic and hunger to be number one.
