Rick Ross Claps Back At Drake On “Champagne Moments”

2024 has been a messy year. The cold war between Drake and the rest of the hip-hop world went nuclear after Kendrick Lamar’s “Like That” diss, and since then it’s been open season on the 6 God. Future, Metro Boomin, The Weeknd and ASAP Rocky have all taken aim at Drake, but the rapper that has most hip-hop fans conflicted is Rick Ross. Drake and Ross have made classic records together for over a decade. Ross’ new single, however, makes it clear that they will be enemies from now on.

Ross teased the track “Champagne Moments” during a DJ Akademiks live stream on April 13, but it’s now available on streaming platforms with beefed up drums and artwork with the hashtag “#BBLDrizzy.” The rapper furthered the disrespect by tagging Birdman and OVO Records when he posted the song on Instagram. The beat for “Champagne Moments” is classic Rick Ross, with lush strings and a mafioso vibe that suits the rapper’s husky flow. Ross accuses Drake of ripping off Lil Wayne’s style, and claims the Toronto rapper needed his co-sign to establish credibility.

Rick Ross Rebrands Drake As “BBLDrizzy”

These lines are debatable, especially since Drake has been featured on all of Ross’ biggest hits, but the thing that will keep fans buzzing about “Champagne Moments” is the outro. He claims that Drake got a nose job and cosmetic surgery on his body. Ross also goes after Drake’s perceived “blackness,” or lack their-of, which has been a talking point since Drake blew up. Ross doesn’t body Drake, but he does pick at a few scabs, and the production is solid.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “Champagne Moments,” by Rick Ross? Do you think he bested Drake? Do you think Ross’ claims about Drake are true? Will the 6 God issue a response? Got incentives for all the killings while we ride rentals
Look me right in my face, he beginning to shake

Summrs Delivers A Multi-faceted Banger “Sneaky Link/Love That 4 Us”

Overall, there were not too many new albums and singles dropping this past weekend. Outside of the Metro Boomin and Future project WE STILL DON’T TRUST YOU, mainstream artists remained quiet. It was a slightly more eventful week for lesser-known names, but that does not mean there was not quality to be had. Just take Summrs and his new song “Sneaky link/Love that 4 us.” For those wondering, you can find it on his new album B4DARAVEN.

This is a shorter release with just seven tracks, but fans of his do not need to panic. This will not be his only release of 2024. Word on the street is that this is just a precursor for the much longer TALE OF DA RAVEN, which still does not have a release date yet. For now though, let us discuss “Sneaky link/Love that 4 us.”

As you can see this is a two-part song and it is done pretty well. Summrs’ lyrics are nothing to write home about. But the real winner is the instrumental. The first half feels almost early Lil Uzi Vert-like with its playful and light trap beat. However, it seamlessly transforms into a guitar solo, which then leads into a slightly a funkier portion with trap elements.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new song “Sneaky link/Love that 4 us” by Summrs? Is this the best track from the rapper as of late, why or why not? Where do you rank this amongst the rest of the songs off of B4DARAVEN? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Summrs. Finally, stay with us for everything else going on around the music world.

Quotable Lyrics:

You know when that Taylor Port gon’ make you call
That’s when you’re the most vunerable
It’s your fault
When you’re drunk and miss me, you gon’ call
It don’t matter if I f***ed your friend

Midwxst & DC The Don Reunite For Reflective Single “FIRE”

If we had to name artists that impressed us thoroughly in 2023, it would be a pretty long list. One of them we would have to include would be midwxst. He is not necessarily a new kid on the block, but he definitely snuck up on us. Last year, the Indiana multi-hyphenate went and dropped his debut album E3 and it saw him operate in the lanes of hyper pop, R&B, hip-hop, and etc. He really went for it all and it paid off. Fairly soon, he will be following that up with another project sometime this year and to promote it, midwxst is back with a new single “FIRE.”

This is not the first track that is rumored to be on BACK IN ACTION 4.0. In late February, midwxst dropped “mistakes” with 9lives, which was a cut about toxic relationships. Similarly, “FIRE” explores those themes, but also sees him reflect on how he has been struggling to feel happy with himself. He is also having a hard time admitting his faults, especially when he says, “I’ve had problems since I was a youngin’ / Need to cut out the lies and the frontin’.”

Like “mistakes,” midwxst has decided to tap a guest. This time fellow emo rapper and singer DC The Don is joining him. These two have a solid work history together, featuring on a couple of songs for each other. While their voices do sound similar back to back, DC does pen a solid verse. “My ex-b**** just wanna be famous / ‘Cause she a crash-out, hit ninety while she lane switch / Afraid to die, but she don’t wanna die nameless (Ooh).”

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single “FIRE” by midwxst and DC The Don? Is this the best track from either rapper as of late, why or why not? Does this get you excited for midwxst’s upcoming project BACK IN ACTION 4.0? Is this their best collaboration after hearing this? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding midwxst and DC The Don. Finally, stay with us for everything else going on around the music world.

Quotable Lyrics:

You know what they say, “Play with fire, you get burned”
Come away with nothin’ from the lessons that I learn
I been runnin’ ’round in circles, I been stuck at every turn
If you don’t wan’ tell the truth, then you can happily be adjourned
Ruin everything I touch, sometimes, I feel like I’m a germ
I’m not good at listenin’, no, I don’t like to come to terms

Metro Boomin, Future, & The Weeknd Bring Immaculate Vibes To “We Still Don’t Trust You”

With both WE STILL DON’T TRUST YOU and WE DON’T TRUST YOU out now, fans are going to compare which record is better. Some may even go song for song and debate which is better. One matchup that will be tough for many to choose a winner for are the self-titled openers. They are very different instrumentally, but both do set the tone tremendously for their respective tracklists.

At the end of the day, it comes down to personal preference, but Metro Boomin, Future, and The Weeknd certainly did their thing. “We Still Don’t Trust You” sees the St. Louis producer go into a lane he has not dabbled in since 2020. There is heavy synth pop inspiration, and it sounds like something he helped craft for The Weeknd on After Hours. The consistent criticism from the community about this track so far has been the lack of substance from Future and The Weeknd.

For us though, the intro on this album is looking to be more cinematic and otherworldly and the minimal contributions from the superstars works in this case. MIKE DEAN is also back in the booth with Metro and we can definitely hear his transcendent synths across the instrumental. We are also enjoying this because Metro is exploring different sounds and building on something he got a bit of start on four years ago. After hearing what he can do across an entire album, we would love to see Metro continue to experiment with it.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new song “We Still Don’t Trust You” by Future, Metro Boomin, and The Weeknd? Is this the best track from either WE DON’T TRUST YOU or WE STILL DON’T TRUST YOU, why or why not? Out of all of The Weeknd’s guest appearances is this his strongest one, why or why not? Is this their best collaboration after hearing this? Which album are bumping more right now? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Chloe Bailey Drops Unapologetic New Single, “Boy Bye”

It’s already been a major year for Chloe Bailey, and fortunately for fans, it doesn’t look like she’s showing any signs of slowing down. Over the weekend, the songstress graced the stage at Coachella, delivering what would become an unforgettable performance. She impressed fans with songs like “FYS,” “Have Mercy,” “Body Do,” and more. Chloe also took the opportunity to perform her newest track live for the first time ever, “Boy Bye.”

She first unveiled the song late last week, making a splash with a fun accompanying music video. Luckily, Chloe’s been hinting at new music with her sister Halle for a while now, and has a new solo album on the way. At Coachella, she teased the project’s title in an interview with Rolling Stone. She told the outlet that she’d use the wave, thunderstorm, and palm tree emojis to summarize its name. What do you think of Chloe Bailey’s new song?
