Kodak Black Wants To “Burn It Up” On Latest Album Cut

Kodak Black’s latest mixtape Trill Bill was released on Friday. The tape is typical Kodak Black, with themes of money, drugs, sex, and violence. But, it is over surprisingly calm, almost cloudy, mid-tempo production. One example of this is “Burn It Up,” one of the better tracks from Kodak’s new tape. The beat, produced by Ryan Prieur, is understated. It sounds like something that would be at home on a Cash Cobain project. In that regard, it does not sound like something that Kodak Black would normally do. But lyrically, it is another straightforward effort for the controversial Florida rapper. His trademark flexing and street raps are once again joined together on another track.

Kodak Black sounds energized (as energized as he can be, at least) on the track, with the hook’s repetition of “turn it up” and “burn a n***a up” being quite catchy. The verse is witty, with “all black can’t see nothing, so they say it was Darth Vader” being a standout line. At barely two and a half minutes, the track does not overstay its welcome, and it’s a solid performance from Kodak. Of course, Kodak Black is a prolific artist, so not everything he releases in a given year sticks, but this could be a track that does. Juice WRLD & Offset “Celebrate” On New Posthumous Track

Juice WRLD’s estate released The Party Never Ends, his third posthumous album, on Friday. The album features contributions from Nicki Minaj, Eminem, and others. One of those “others” is Offset, who appears on the track “Celebrate.” “Celebrate” is produced by Metro Boomin, and was previously unheard until a leak in December 2023. Metro previously had production credits on Fighting Demons, the second posthumous release by his estate. The track is a low-key banger, and feels like something that Juice would have released if he was still alive, though it is still clear that the track was not finished in his lifetime.

The beat is menacing, and both Juice WRLD and Offset deliver strong verse. They give some gun bars, with the two of them threatening to “put some money in the street” (putting a bounty on someone, for the uninitiated). Offset’s verse is twice as long as Juice’s, likely to balance out the fact that the unfinished nature of the song. His verse feels like something he would’ve done for a Migos album, delivering some high-quality street bars. He’s at home over Metro Boomin production, and it’s very clear. Juice WRLD’s estate previously claimed that The Party Never Ends is the last posthumous album from the rapper, who died on December 8, 2019, just six days after his 21st birthday. However, with over a thousand unreleased tracks to his name, it is hard to say if that is truly the case yet. Regardless, give “Celebrate” a listen.

4batz Releases Mellow New Single “Hood Grammy”

Since entering the scene with the viral single “act ii: date @ 8,” Dallas-based singer 4batz has had a quiet 2024. His debut mixtape, U Made Me a St4r, was set to be released on Drake’s OVO Sound label after the rapper hopped on a remix of the track and took a liking to the singer. However, that did not materialize, and he instead released the project independently. None of the tracks on the tape even approximated the success of “date @ 8.” But based on the lyrics from his latest track “hood grammy,” 4batz seems to be fine with the success he’s already achieved.

“hood grammy” is a victory lap of sorts for 4batz. He talks about how he was broke when he dropped out of school, but has since made enough money to “buy a brand-new Bentley.” The track is dedicated to his mother and grandmother, the former of whom raised him as a single parent. He also dedicates the track to those in the trenches, and others who stood by him. He may not have a Grammy, but the support he’s gotten from his peers more than makes up for it in his mind. Structurally, it sounds a lot like “date @ 8,” with similar vocal flourishes and a cloudy beat. It’s a catchy track that sounds nice on a speaker. He has not announced plans for another album yet. But in the meantime, check out the new single from 4batz below.

Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre are a legendary duo who are responsible for some of hip-hop’s most iconic songs. Overall, their legacies in rap music are cemented. However, that does not mean they are by any means finished with making music. In fact, on December 13th, they will be dropping a new album together called Missionary which is the spiritual successor to Snoop’s iconic debut album Doggystyle. The innuendos are pretty clear, and fans are excited for what this is about to sound like.

On Friday, the two decided to bless fans with a rare Thanksgiving weekend drop. They did so in the form of the song “Another Part Of Me” which features Sting. The feature makes a whole lot of sense when you realize the production is a flip of The Police’s iconic hit song “Message In A Bottle.” This guitar-driven production is met with some rare auto-tuned singing from Snoop. Although this might be polarizing to some longtime fans, there are some interesting ideas here.

The album promises to be a victory lap for the West Coast, which is already having a huge year thanks to the emergence of numerous talented local acts. J Cole & Drake Showed Off Their Chemistry 14 Years Ago On “In The Morning”

J Cole recently released his classic and beloved 2010 mixtape Friday Night Lights on streaming services for the first time, and fans are rejoicing as a result. It’s a big unexpected hit of nostalgia amid a pretty interesting year for the Dreamville boss, such as a new reflective audio series, a brand-new mixtape, and a Kendrick Lamar battle that seems to shift in public perception with each new update. But none of that would be possible without Cole’s talent, one that he displays on “In The Morning.”

It’s a pretty smooth and steady romantic cut that leans more lustful than languid, and features the other big piece of the Kendrick Lamar battle: Drake. He and J. Cole are in a pretty vague spot right now, mostly because Drizzy himself hasn’t really responded to the North Carolina MC’s defense of him in any significant way. But their chemistry on this Friday Night Lights cut is quite solid, and it’s one that they definitely improved upon 13 years later with tracks like “Evil Ways.”

Meanwhile, J. Cole is seemingly closing out 2024 on a reflective note, looking back at his career through the Inevitable audio series. With that in mind, listening to “In The Morning” really brings that retrospection to life. With The Fall Off still on the way and new chapters emerging in the 2024 rap war seemingly every day, it looks like 2025 will also be a busy year for Cole. Kevin Gates is an artist who has been in the game for a while now, and throughout the years, he has continuously improved his craft. Although he may not be making hits like “Two Phones” and “Really Really” anymore, he makes up for it in his storytelling and wisdom. Overall, his songs are motivational in nature, and that is certainly true of his most recent single which was released on YouTube recently. The song is called “Be Somebody” and it can be listened to down below.

As the name of the song would suggest, this track is all about finding yourself and becoming the best version of you, regardless of the circumstances. Gates discusses all of the hardships he had to go through before becoming the man he is today. Moreover, he delivers emotional passages on leaning on your loved ones through hard times. These are messages that many can relate to, and it is why Gates’ music always seems to resonate.

Moving forward, it will be interesting to see what Kevin Gates’ musical plans will be. Perhaps we will get a new album in the new year. EST Gee Treats Fans To Knocking Anthem With New Single “The Streets”

EST Gee has an understated charisma. The rapper has a magnetic quality with having to resort to crazy deliveries or outrageous flows. He’s always in the pocket, and he makes music that is mellow, yet tinged with a menacing undercurrent. “The Streets” is a perfect example of these two dynamics co-existing on the same song. EST Gee’s latest is a lean street anthem that sees the rapper find a catchy pocket and ride it out over an organ-heavy instrumental.

There’s definitely a Southern flavor to the instrumental. The organ stabs anchor the drums, and then rise to the forefront during the chorus. It sounds like an instrumental that a Young Jeezy or a T.I. would get on two decades ago, but with a modern update. EST Gee brings the same slick yet weary delivery that T.I.P. and the Snowman perfected in their primes. The lyrics are pretty standard, and adhere to the title of the song, but EST Gee’s conviction is what really gets this song across the finish line. You believe him when he spits: “I was slidin’ and poppin’ sh*t with the same n**gas I was coppin’ bricks.” “The Streets” is yet another win for Gee.

Kodak Black Continues His Lengthy “Versatile” Song Series And Announces New Mixtape

Kodak Black is unconscious! The Pompano Beach, Florida native is already prepping another mixtape, according to his Instagram page and a press release. It’s going to be out this Friday, which he’s hilariously dubbing it “BLACK FRIDAY,” and it’s going to be called TRILL BILL. The project, which is based on one of his nicknames, Kutthroat Bill, will be his third overall tape of 2024. The year began for him with his label’s debut mixtape, Vulture Love Presents: The Last Zombies on Earth. Then, just a few weeks ago, he would deliver his first solo effort, Dieuson Octave, which is titled after his government name. In conjunction with this exciting news, fans are being treated to a Thanksgiving Eve single, “Versatile 4.”

If that song title sound familiar, that’s because this a long-running series within his discography. For those who don’t know, this all began back in 2017 on his Project Baby 2: All Grown Up LP. These tracks are undoubtedly some of the longest in his career, with the first one clocking in at just under seven minutes. The second would land on the deluxe of that aforementioned project and is a whopping 9:42 long. Then, the third would drop about three years ago, coming in at a more listenable 5:36. Overall, these tracks are to showcase Kodak Black’s ability to perform on an extended listen. Depending on how big of a fan you are of his, these might be for you. Xzibit Stomps On Dem Jointz’s Beat Like Godzilla On “Everywhere I Go”

Xzibit isn’t just coming back, he’s looking to take names and blow the competition out of the water. That’s the energy he’s exhibiting on his latest single, “Everywhere I Go.” It’s the third teaser to his upcoming album Kingmaker, which will be out sometime in early 2025. Excitingly, it’s going to be his debut record under Greenback Records, UFC world champion Conor McGregor’s brand-new imprint. X and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony are his only two artists so far, but it’s quite a great way to get the label off the ground.

Prior to dropping “Everywhere I Go,” Xzibit got the rollout started with the grand and episodic “Play This At My Funeral,” which released on October 11. Then, two weeks later, the Detroit rapper would drop off the sequel to “Been a Long Time” with a new guest in Jenn Em. Both of the first two releases were incredibly strong, so how does this newest one fare? To put it simply, it’s another hit. Dem Jointz (Kanye West, Dr. Dre, Eminem) is on the boards, and he brings a rambunctious energy to the track. One element of the beat may sound familiar to fans of the Godzilla franchise, and it may have inspired some of X’s bars on the track, which you can find below. He sounds like the radioactive monster on the record as his presence is once again undeniable.

Benny The Butcher & 38 Spesh Officially Release Their “Sway’s Universe” Freestyle To Streaming

Two New York MCs still maintaining the street grittiness in the modern era listened to the people. Benny The Butcher and 38 Spesh popped out for a Sway’s Universe appearance about a month ago and laid down a show-stopping freestyle. Fans were in awe of their bars, especially The Butcher’s. “Only way I can protect my peace is if my piece protect me… It’s so hot I can’t talk, it’s like the one chip challenge.” It’s got almost 400,000 since it hit YouTube, so they decided to officially release it as the “SS2 Freestyle” on streaming. Whoever selected the beat for these two prolific MCs was smart because the methodical, dark, and grand beat is right in their wheelhouse.

It sounds like something from any one of their records, including their most recent. Last month, Butch and Spesh dropped off their second entry in the STABBED & SHOT series. Special guests included V Don, Harry Fraud, Busta Rhymes, Dave East, Daringer, Ransom, among others. For Benny, it’s his third record of 2024, as it follows up on his Black Soprano Family release, Summertime Butch, and his Def Jam Recordings debut, Everybody Can’t Go. For Spesh, he’s also been on a tear. He’s up to five on the year, with Mother & Gun, God’s Timing, In God We Trust, and Checks & Balances being his roster of LPs. Overall, it’s just been another year of major moves and excellent projects for these two close friends. Their dedication to the craft and willingness to release new material so consistently makes them two of the underground’s generational titans. “SS2 Freestyle” is more proof of that and we can’t wait to see where they go from here.
