Gunna Is Living Life Freely On “Hakuna Matata”

Gunna is refocused and all about being a better him on his brand-new album One of Wun. The fairly quick follow-up to a Gift & a Curse sees the College Park, Georgia flow master bring along just a few guests on his cruise to happiness. Offset, recent collaborator Normani, Leon Bridges, and Roddy Ricch, all do a solid job breaking some of the more monotonous stretches. However, Gunna still manages to be entertaining on his own, especially on “hakuna matata.”

It is clear that the trap veteran was not aiming for hits on this project. But “hakuna matata” is one of the tracks that comes closest to being easily digestible or one that could land on Spotify playlists. On this cut, Gunna raps about his new outlook moving forward, which is one of no regrets. Of course, Disney die-hards, or anyone who has seen The Lion King, knows this iconic phrase.

Young Wunna on tour, I BP the charter, livin’ hakuna matata (Hakuna matata) / Ain’t no more worries, I’m up at it early, yo’ n**** tryna figure out his problems (Figure out his problems).” Even though the beat on this song is reminiscent of a lot of the other cuts on One of Wun, it still sounds good. Gunna might also provide his strongest performance flow wise and slips and slides across the lowkey instrumental.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new song “hakuna matata” by Gunna? Is this the best track from his new album One of Wun, why or why not? These n****s songs floppin’, n****s ain’t gon’ stop him (Songs floppin’, gon’ stop him)
Switch out my cars and my addy, my family straight and that’s all that matter (Yeah, all that)
Stackin’ them racks in the safe and prepare for whatever, whenever it happеn (Whenever it happеn)
I put my trust in my faith, when I’m walking through straight, I don’t see no one else (See no one else)

Shoreline Mafia Return From The Depths To Drop Dark Single “HEAT STICK”

Over the last few years, it feels like a lot of rap groups have been splitting up. Unfortunately, some of the most well-known collectives, like Migos and Injury Reserve, for example, have disbanded due to tragic deaths. However, there are also just some that were formed years ago and have gone their separate ways to forge their solo careers. But there is still a glimmer of hope that rap crews are not dead.

One source of light we can look to is the West Coast-based entity Shoreline Mafia. The Los Angeles, California tandem spearheaded by OHGEESY and Fenix Flexin, are reunited after quite the hiatus. To be more exact, the high school friends have been doing their own thing for about four years. The last offering we heard from them was their album Mafia Bidness.

The project had features from 03 Greedo, Mike Sherm, Future, Duke Deuce, Wiz Khalifa, YG, and plenty more. Now, Shoreline Mafia appears to be back on the fast track toward a new project with “HEAT STICK.” This dark and moody banger sees Fenix and OHGEESY detail a night of debauchery and partying. You can check out the song and brand-new set of visuals above.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single “HEAT STICK” by Shoreline Mafia? After four years of no music from the duo, is this track satisfying, why or why not? As I look at my wrist, it’s about that time
But if I look too long, then I might go blind
I got ten bad b****es pullin’ up at 9

We gon’ split ’em down that middle, I get five, you get five
Then we switch ’em in a little, I get yours, you get mine

Black Eyed Peas Team Up With El Alfa & Becky G For “Bad Boys: Ride Or Die” Track “TONIGHT”

In just under a month, icons Will Smith and Martin Lawrence will be hitting the big screen as Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett once again. The buddy cop film franchise, Bad Boys, will be getting its fourth installment, Ride or Die, in theaters on June 7. Its original motion picture debuted back on April 7, 1995 and one of the actors’ defining roles. While we most likely will not review the film, we are hear to break down a new exclusive track for it called “TONIGHT.”

This is a collaboration between pop/Latin pop legends. Black Eyed Peas, El Alfa, and Becky G were all in the studio to give the movie some extra oomph. However, fans, at least musically speaking, are going to be quite disappointed in this track. “TONIGHT” is one of the most painfully boring records that we have heard this year.

Making music for a film is never easy. We say that because the artists have to pull back a bit when it comes to getting creative for the sake that it matches a scene or tone. Which is why a good number of listeners loathe soundtracks. “TONIGHT” will presumably do what it is was set out for, but looking at it from a critical standpoint, it is wallpaper at best.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single “TONIGHT” by Black Eyed Peas, El Alfa, and Becky G? Does this track build any anticipation for the forthcoming soundtrack? Additionally, does it hype up the Bad Boys: Ride or Die film, why or why not? Who had the strongest performance? No need to pretend tonight
Authentic, go 100% tonight

Camila Cabello & Lil Nas X Provide A Much-Improved Offering With “HE KNOWS”

About a month and a half ago, Cuban pop sensation and former Fifth Harmony figure Camila Cabello had fans severely divided. The 27-year-old dropped the lead single for her upcoming fourth solo effort C,XOXO, “I LUV IT.” It was a head-scratcher for a lot of people, to put it lightly. Her repetitive and frankly annoying chorus, mixed with the hodge podge of an instrumental were harsh on the ears. Additionally, the track had a Playboi Carti feature that was out of place. Simultaneously, it has gone on to easily be his worst feature of the year so far. This time around, Camila Cabello looks to right the ship with “HE KNOWS.”

For us, this song far and away is of higher quality than “I LUV IT” in a multitude of ways. Instrumentally, the rhythm that we are accustomed to from a Cabello track is back. It is groovy, as well as dizzying, but in a good way. There are some hypnotic background vocals from what we assume are from her as well. Vocally, Camila does not come off sounding like a spoiled brat, which is how we would describe her delivery on “I LUV IT.”

Then, the feature, which is provided by Lil Nas X, is also an improvement. It is more fun, animated, and honestly quite hilarious. It still may not be for everyone, but it is far more memorable in comparison to Carti. Camila Cabello is set to drop C,XOXO June 28 and the single cover art you see above is supposed to be the LP’s artwork as well. Be sure to check out “HE KNOWS” with the video link above.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single “HE KNOWS” by Camila Cabello and Lil Nas X? Do you this offering is better than “I LUV IT” with Playboi Carti, why or why not? Who had the stronger performance on this cut? Does this have you excited for her fourth solo album, C,XOXO? Sleepy Hallow Pens Another Catchy Drill Record For The Summer With “Winners In Paris”

A pretty accurate way to describe Sleepy Hallow would be a Pop Smoke lite. While you might read that as a slight, we in fact mean the total opposite. The late Brooklynite navigated drill with a grimier and darker approach. Additionally, his voice was smoky, gravelly, and had some bassy qualities to it. In the case of Sleepy Hallow, he has a deep cadence too, but not as much. Additionally, most of tracks are more on the melodic and artsy side. Unfortunately, we never got to hear a collab between these two. They would be a great yin and yang, but we can keep dreaming.

The reason we are talking about Sleepy Hallow today is because he has a new single out called “Winners In Paris.” This is the Flatbush, New Yorker’s second solo release of 2024, following up his Valetine’s Day-themed “Cupid’s Guidance.” On “Winners In Paris,” Sleepy is dealing with a woman who he really wants to get with. Unfortunately, he has a hard time changing his old ways and she is not down for the games.

I’m still myself, ain’t give a f*** who is acceptin’ me / She want the best for me, this what she said to me,” he raps. The beat is minimal, but it gives a summer vibe and Hallow delivers an easy-to-follow flow that is catchy beyond belief. This has the potential to become another “2055” situation and we would not be surprised if it blows up.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single “Winners In Paris” by Sleepy Hallow? Is this one of his better releases as of late, why or why not? Do you think he is hurtling toward a new album/EP in the near future? Is he the best New York drill artist going right now? Ski Mask The Slump God Levels Up Like Goku ON “Headrush”

Ski Mask The Slump God is undoubtedly one of the industry’s most entertaining acts going today. The Broward County, Florida native’s goofy, and sometimes unconventional approach, are what define his style. He loves to color outside the lines, make references to anime, and sometimes lay down some of the wildest bars you will ever hear. This weekend, Ski Mask is back to provide some of that insanity in the form of a new single “Headrush.”

It appears to be the second single for his long-awaited sophomore album 11th Dimension. Fans got their first taste of its lead offering “Shibuya” in the latter half of March, which was a solid release as well. According to Genius, Ski Mask has been messing around with the album’s tracklist extensively over the last year and a half or so. “OOGA BOOGA!” was supposedly going to make the cut, but it was nixed and now remains to be a loosie.

On top of what will make the final product, the release date is also up in the air. There was some speculation that Ski Mask would drop the album by his birthday (April 18), but that obviously did not come to fruition. Now, the rumor is that it will be out before the end of June. We can only hope and pray at this point, but for now we are thoroughly enjoying “Headrush.” The title is a perfect way to describe this highly energetic single. Ski Mask channels the powers of Goku (who he likens himself to on the track), as his vocals are pitched up and are laid on top of a trap/rock fusion that sounds killer.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single “Headrush” by Ski Mask The Slump God? Is this the better promotional track for his upcoming album 11th Dimension, why or why not? Conway The Machine, Method Man, SK Da King, & Flee Lord Bring Straight Lyricism On “Meth Back!”

Conway the Machine assembled the Avengers for his brand-new album Slant Face Killah (SFK). His fourth studio album, and follow-up to WON’T HE DO IT, was rumored to be the side B of the latter. However, the prolific Buffalo-bred rapper decided to come through with a separate entity and it has been one of the stronger releases of the year. One cut that Conway the Machine provided on this LP that we have been spinning again and again is “Meth Back!”

This one of many tracks that boasts some incredible guest talent. Based on the title, you might have been able to guess that Wu-Tang legend Method Man was a feature. That assumption would be correct, but he is not the only G.O.A.T. joining Conway. Underground vets Flee Lord and SK Da King pop up for one the nastiest old school hip-hop tracks of 2024.

Instrumental alone, this track is incredible. Daringer, fellow Buffalo resident and in-house producer for Griselda, lays down a simple but effective beat. The ghostly woodwind loop on top of the dirty drums is a lethal combination. Then, we you add in everyone’s terrific pen game and intimidating cadence, it is a recipe for straight gas. It is hard to pick who had the best outing, but Meth’s might take the cake for us.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new song “Meth Back!” by Conway the Machine, Method Man, SK Da King, and Flee Lord? Where does this track rank amongst the rest on Slant Face Killah (SFK)? Post Malone Hints At A New Artistic Direction With “I Had Some Help” Featuring Morgan Wallen

There is no denying the star power that Post Malone possesses. No matter what genre he decides to dabble in, the Texas native always draws a crowd to anything he is attached to. Of course, fans of hip-hop and R&B were the first to discover his talents in the latter half of the 2010s decade with his breakout hit “White Iverson.” From there, he continued to evolve, and over the last year, Posty has begun to distance himself from the sound that put him on the map. This year has seen him collaborate with Beyonce for her take on country and bluegrass, COWBOY CARTER.

Now, Post Malone is trying his hand in the same playing field, but this time as the lead act on “I Had Some Help” with Morgan Wallen. According to Genius, this is the lead single for Austin Post’s full-on country album, which does not have a release date or title. According to Billboard, this song was previewed a handful of times over the last month or so. Once on Post’s social media platforms, as well as a live performance alongside the country superstar at Stagecoach, a country music festival in Indio, CA.

While Post and Morgan are taking accountability for them splitting up with their partners, they feel that each side is to blame. Be sure to check out the relationship cut with the links above.

Gunna & Roddy Ricch Are Doing Some Self-Healing On “Let It Breathe”

Ever since Gunna addressed the YSL RICO fiasco on his fourth studio album, a Gift & a Curse, it is clear that he has been doing some self-reflection. That has been evident from the College Park, Georgia rapper and singer working on his physical and mental health. The 30-year-old has posted tons of pictures on his social media platforms and his transformation has been nothing short of incredible. This new mindset that Gunna has is the main theme of his fifth LP One of Wun.

On “let it breathe,” for example, Gunna speaks about how he has been distancing himself from others and sit down with himself. Across the moody piano-backed instrumental, he decides that he is going to fortify his mental strength by hitting the gym and choosing who he surrounds himself with. Joining him on this journey to becoming a new man is Compton’s own Roddy Ricch. To be honest, we do not think there was anyone better to accompany Gunna on this track in particular.

Listen To “Let It Breathe” By Gunna & Roddy Ricch

His style is almost identical and a track with this kind of message comes a great time for Roddy. It seems that the narrative has shifted for him after his impressive debut album Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial. Many felt he took a dramatic step back on his following effort LIVE LIFE FAST, and even on Feed Tha Streets III. “Lately, I’ve been slow to speak, still stay out they reach, ” Ricch says on the first line of his verse. That could refer to a lot of things, but it could be seen as he is taking time before making a new project. All in all, “let it breathe” is a strong offering from Gunna and his equally wounded partner.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new song “let it breathe” by Gunna and Roddy Ricch? Is this the best track from his new album One of Wun, why or why not? Who had the stronger performance on this cut? Where do you rank this project amongst the rest of his catalog and is it better than the original?
