Slim Jxmmi Facing 30 Years After LAX Arrest, Attorney Calls Situation a Miscommunication

Slim Jxmmi, one half of the popular hip hop duo Rae Sremmurd, was arrested Tuesday morning in Miami, Florida

Rae Sremmurd’s Slim Jxmmi was arrested upon his return to Los Angeles. According to TMZ, Jxmmi was nabbed at TMZ by law enforcement on his return from Canada.

Slim Jxmmi was arrested for a warrant in Georgia with charges of possession of marijuana with intent to sell. Jxmmi is currently being held in Los Angeles without bail, awaiting extradition to Georgia. He is facing 30 years in prison.

Jxmmi’s attorney, Steve Sadow, states the situation is the product of miscommunication.

“Nearly two years ago, Aaquil entered a plea to a marijuana offense in Cobb County, Georgia. He was placed on probation. In early June 2022, the mother of his child filed a untruthful complaint with the Cobb County Police Department, which led to an arrest warrant being issued.”

He added, “Aaquil was not arrested on that warrant. Instead, a Cobb County Magistrate Judge held a hearing on July 20, 2022 and dismissed the warrant. Unfortunately, the Cobb County Probation Office was not made aware that the arrest warrant was dismissed and thus failed to withdraw its probation violation warrant. When Aaquil came back from Canada into LA airport, he was arrested on the probation violation warrant. We expect that warrant to be withdrawn in the next day or so, and then Aaquil will be released.”

In Miami this past January, Slim Jxmmi was detained on battery-related charges after reportedly assaulting the mother of his child.

According to law enforcement, when Slim Jxmmi’s girlfriend, the mother of his child, tried to move the child to a nearby playpen after an argument over a woman Slim Jxmmi followed on Twitter, the recording artist became enraged and kicked down a room door and pulled a hair extension from her.

The “Black Beatles” rapper’s girlfriend, Kiara, later changed her account, and the battery case was dropped. Kiara allegedly recanted her accusations and refused to work with law enforcement, according to police. Prosecutors in Florida claim they lack a good faith basis to charge the 30-year-old rapper with violence as a result.

Slim Jxmmi Of Rae Sremmurd Was Reportedly Arrested At LAX Airport Over A Drug Charge In Georgia

This past weekend, rapper Slim Jxmmi of Rae Sremmurd was reportedly arrested at Los Angeles International Airport over a drug case in Georgia, according to TMZ.

Jxmmi, whose birth name is Aaquil Brown, had reportedly flown in from Canada, and upon landing, Customs and Border Patrol agents took him into custody. The case in Georgia reportedly entails possession of marijuana by Jxmmi with the intent to sell. At the time of writing, Jxmmi is currently being held in custody in Los Angeles without bail, and faces up to 30 years in prison.

Back in January, Jxmmi was arrested for battery charges in Miami.

Jxmmi’s lawyer, Steve Sadow, spoke to TMZ, saying, “Nearly two years ago, Aaquil entered a plea to a marijuana offense in Cobb County, Georgia. He was placed on probation,” Sadow said. “In early June 2022, the mother of his child filed an untruthful complaint with the Cobb County Police Department, which led to an arrest warrant being issued.”

Recently, Rae Sremmurd released a new single called “Community D*ck,” which features Flo Milli. The duo’s upcoming album, Sremm4Life is set to arrive sometime soon. Both Jxmmi, and his bandmate, Swae Lee, have teased the album via a series of tweets.

“Bout to get a dose of this Sremmy,” said Swae, in a May tweet.

Jxmmi followed up, saying “Time for that 4 foe four for phor.”

Rae Sremmurd Teases ‘Sremm4Life,’ Their Upcoming Fourth Album: ‘Bout To Get A Dose Of This Sremmy’

It’s been quite a while since Rae Sremmurd gave the world a full body of work. To find that, you’d have to go back to 2018 when the rap duo composed of Swae Lee and Slim Jxmmi released their third album SR3MM. The project arrived as a triple-disc with one side being a 9-track Rae Sremmurd release, and the remaining two discs being 9-track solo efforts from Swae and Slim. The rappers have shared some tidbits about their fourth album over the years, but music has yet to arrive from it. All of that could change soon as they teased the project once again from their social media accounts.

The rap duo posted an image of the number four of fire to the Rae Sremmurd Twitter page with the caption, “SREMM4LIFE.” In a second tweet that Swae Lee shared from his personal account, he added, “Bout to get a dose of this Sremmy.” Slim Jxmmi also chimed in with his own tweet, writing, “Time for that 4 foe four for phor.” All of the aforementioned posts seemingly confirm that new music from the project should arrive much sooner than later.

In an interview with Essence back in 2019, Rae Sremmurd seemingly confirmed that their upcoming fourth album would be set up like 2018’s SR3MM. For what it’s worth, that interview was more than three years ago, so it remains to be seen if that is still the plan for the duo.

Slim Jxmmi’s Battery Charge Gets Dropped After His Girlfriend Reportedly Recanted Her Police Statement

Late last month, Slim Jxmmi, who with Swae Lee makes up the rap duo Rae Sremmurd, was arrested for battery after a fight with his girlfriend in Miami. According to TMZ, the rapper allegedly attacked his girlfriend, with whom he has a child, and pulled out her hair extensions. The incident began after Slim Jxmmi, born Aaquil Brown, was confronted by his girlfriend about a woman he was following on Instagram. Brown is also accused of throwing his girlfriend’s phone over a balcony. Now, almost a month after he was arrested for battery, the charges against him have been dropped.

According to Billboard, Miami prosecutors will not pursue charges against Brown. Court proceedings in the case were closed on Tuesday due to an order from Judge Betsy Alvarez-Zane. While a spokeswoman for the Miami-Dade County Attorney’s Office did not return Billboard’s request for comment, Brown’s attorney Bradley Horenstein said prosecutors told the judge on Tuesday that the charges were dropped due to a lack of evidence. Prosecutors reportedly said that the rapper’s girlfriend recanted her initial police statement and that she also refused to cooperate with them.

Slim Jxmmi’s focus will likely return to music and his Rae Sremmurd duo has not dropped an album since 2018’s SR3MM. The duo teased the release of SremmLife 4 back in 2020, but nothing from that project has yet been released. They also made an appearance in season two of Lil Dicky’s FX show Dave.
