NBA YoungBoy Moves His Federal Gun Case To Another State For Sentencing

NBA YoungBoy just got some massive updates in his federal gun case, and it looks like he’s trying to control as much as he can about it. Moreover, reports emerged this week that he reportedly pleaded guilty to the federal indictment on August 14, and he successfully moved his case from Baton Rouge to Utah for sentencing. “I, defendant, have been informed that a Felony Indictment is pending against me in the above designated case,” the alleged court documents read. “I wish to plead guilty to the offense charged, to consent to the disposition of the case in the District of Utah in which I am present, and to waive trial in the above captioned District.”

Furthermore, YoungBoy previously attempted to postpone the case. “After Rahimi, it is still an open question whether Congress can simply prohibit all convicted felons, regardless of the nature of the felony, from possessing a firearm. Or whether such prohibitions can [apply] without individualized findings that a particular defendant presents a credible threat to the safety of others. And finally, it is an open question whether such prohibitions may be permanent,” his lawyer Drew Fielding posited.

As you may already know, YoungBoy’s trial process turned out to be a pretty chaotic one, as fans Zoom-bombed the proceedings. Not only that, but they interrupted the judge multiple times by proclaiming “Free YB” and telling the judge to “shut up.” The rabid nature of the Never Broke Again fanbase became a popular Internet meme, one that remains very hard to ignore or dismiss thanks to recent situations like these. We can only wonder how they will react to this guilty plea, and to the case moving back to Utah for their fav to receive his sentence.

Meanwhile, other rap figures think that YoungBoy will be just fine. Tony Yayo thinks that he has too much money to worry about prison time, and that this shouldn’t concern him much. Regardless of your thoughts on that, the Baton Rouge spitter is certainly in a better position than most to handle life behind bars. Now, all that remains is to see what happens with the case.

Slim 400’s Killer Receives Lengthy Prison Sentence

Blueface Receives Sentence For Probation Violation In Strip Club Shooting Case

Blueface has been wrapped up in his fair share of legal drama as of late, as he’s currently behind bars for an alleged probation violation. The “Thotiana” rapper first turned himself in back in January, only months after welcoming his first child with Chrisean Rock. Earlier this week, he appeared in court, where Las Vegas Judge Kathleen Delaney gave him his sentence for an unrelated case.

Delaney granted him probation for up to three years, with a suspended prison sentence of two to five years. This means that as long as he complies with his conditions, he won’t have to serve additional time in prison. Conditions of Blueface’s probation include abstaining from alcohol and drugs including marijuana, avoiding the Vegas strip unless he has a legitimate reason to be there such as work, attending impulse control counseling, and more. She also handed him 30 days in jail but credited him for time served as he’s already incarcerated in California. “This was a first technical violation with only temporary revocation available for a maximum of 30 days,” the judgment reads.

Blueface Handed Probation & Suspended Prison Sentence

Blueface may have been able to check his Vegas case off his list, but the conclusion of his California case is still to be seen. He’s accused of violating his probation again, this time with a 2023 altercation involving Jaidyn Alexis. He and the “Stewie” performer were performing in Utah in December when he pulled a woman up onstage. Allegedly, he then told Jaidyn to assault her. He currently has a sentencing hearing for that case scheduled for July 29.

Fans hope that his California sentencing will play out just as well for him, though that remains up in the air. What do you think of Blueface learning his fate in his Vegas probation violation case? Are you surprised that he avoided more time behind bars? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

Chinx’s widow, Janelli Caceres-Pickens, says she’s “heartbroken” by the news that Quincy Homere has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of manslaughter in the killing of the late rapper. She reacted to the deal in a lengthy statement on Instagram on Tuesday. Homere, who is already serving an 18-year sentence in federal prison for a 2015 bank robbery, now faces an additional 23 years in state prison.

Janelli shared her perspective on the situation in a comment on Instagram. “We fought hard for a harder charge which should be murder 2 cause in the state of NY, murder 1 is only given in the cases of government officials being murdered,” she wrote. “He wouldn’t take the murder 2 which would of ended in a lengthy trial that we were obviously ready for!! We are not happy with this charge but one can not dodge whatever GOD has planned for him!”

Jonathan Majors & Meagan Good Hit The Red Carpet For First Time Since Sentencing

Jonathan Majors and his girlfriend, Meagan Good, have stepped out for their first public appearance since his sentencing for his domestic abuse trial back in April. Together, the two attended the NAACP Theatre Awards at the Taglyan Complex in Los Angeles on Monday night. They’ve been dating since May 2023 and Good was by his side throughout the legal proceedings of his misdemeanor assault and harassment case.

When The Shade Room shared pictures of Majors and Good at the event on Instagram, fans were highly critical of their appearance. “Is it just me or has she aged a lot since getting with him?” one top comment reads. Another user came to the couple’s defense. “The comment section shows why so many people are single… too much judgment placed on how shit ‘Looks’ and superstition..somebody said ‘omg he looks like he’s aging her’ like wdf… smh bro this generation low key cooked,” they wrote.

The victim in that case, Grace Jabbari, further sued Majors for defamation in March, as a response to him maintaining his innocence before and after the verdict. Today In Hip Hop History: Remy Ma Sentenced To Eight Years In Prison For Shooting 16 Years Ago

Screenshot 2024 05 13 at 2.39.43 AM

On this date in 2008, the Terror Squad’s First Lady Remy Ma was sentenced to eight years behind bars in a New York State prison for assault with a weapon, weapon possession and coercion for her role in a 2007 shooting.

Criminal Court Judge Rena Uviller said that the Grammy nominated rapper, whose real name is Remy Smith,  was “an extremely angry young woman whose anger is completely out of control,” before reading her sentence.

The July 14 shooting stemmed from an argument between Remy and her former friend, Makeda Barnes-Joseph, who Remy believed had stolen $3,000 from her purse during a night out in Manhattan. A struggle ensued between the women and the gun went off s the two struggled over Remy’s purse. The bullet pierced Barnes-Joseph’s colon and hit her rectum and sent her to a hospital for three weeks.

Prosecutor Michael McIntosh said that Smith had a habit of traveling with a loaded weapon and said something like this “was bound to happen one day.”

Remy and Papoose had planned to marry the day before her sentencing at New York’s Rikers Island Jail, but the ceremony was halted after a handcuff key was found on Papoose.

Iranian Rapper Toomaj Salehi Sentenced To Death: What We Know

Iranian rapper Toomaj Salehi was sentenced to death last weekend following his participation in national protests in 2022. He was first arrested that year during a series of uprisings after the death of 22 year-old Mahsa Amini. Iranian police arrested her for wearing a loose headscarf. She later passed away in their custody. Since then, Salehi has been in and out of prison, with his latest sentencing declared after his most recent arrest in November. Salehi often celebrates his Iranian heritage in his music and his lyrics often criticize the government.

The 33-year-old rapper’s lawyer, Amir Raesian, revealed his punishment in a tweet. “The primary court sentenced Toomaj Salehi to the harshest punishment, death, on the charge of ‘corruption on Earth,’” he wrote. The court’s ruling has made international headlines, with many public figures and news outlets covering the story and expressing support for the Iranian rapper. Here is what we know so far about Toomaj Salehi’s death sentence.

Time In Prison & Court Proceedings

Toomaj Salehi was first arrested in October 2022 after releasing music and posting on social media in response to Mahsa Amini’s death. The court sentenced him to three years and six months in prison. Following his arrest, Salehi revealed that he was tortured and spent 252 days in solitary confinement. According to a 2022 press release from the United Nations, he broke both his nose and several fingers and “severely damaged” his leg. CNN also reported that “there were also concerns that his court hearings were taking place behind closed doors without his lawyer present.”

In July 2023, a court in Isfahan, Iran sentenced Toomaj Salehi to six years in prison. They also banned him from making music for two years. The Iranian Supreme Court later uncovered flaws in Salehi’s sentencing, which prompted his release on bail in November. He was once again arrested just two weeks later. According to Iranian pro-reform outlets Shargh and Entekhab, the Isfahan court “issued the maximum punishment of death,” reversing the Supreme Court’s ruling. CNN reported that state media announced that Salehi’s “sentence is subject for reduction by a pardoning committee if he appeals again.” As of now, he has yet to appeal.

An Unprecedented Ruling

Toomaj Salehi’s lawyer called his sentencing “unprecedented” as a Supreme Court ruling usually supersedes a lower court like Isfahan. The decision quickly made headlines in international news outlets and rapidly spread across social media. Many American organizations and public figures have condemned the court’s ruling to execute the Iranian rapper and activist. The Recording Academy wrote in a statement that they are “deeply troubled by the recent news regarding Toomaj Salehi.”

No artist anywhere should have to fear for their life or livelihood when expressing themselves through their art,” they continued. “Music is a powerful force for good in the world and is needed today more than ever. We stand with music creators around the globe who use their gifts to shed light on the human condition and will continue to work tirelessly to protect artistic freedom.”

Response To Sentencing

Meek Mill also shed light on the situation in a series of tweets. “Free Toomaj!” he wrote in one post and said “Got sentenced to death over a song free that man wtf” in the other. Also advocating for Salehi’s release on Twitter was the United States Office of the Special Envoy for Iran. “These are the latest examples of the regime’s brutal abuse of its own citizens, disregard for human rights, and fear of the democratic change the Iranian people seek,” they wrote.

The United Nations also issued a statement denouncing Salehi’s sentencing and demanding his release, as did a member of the German Parliament. Additionally, Iranian actors Arian Moayed, Maz Jobrani, and Nazanin Boniadi have expressed support for Salehi. They have been urging for his release since last year. The three partnered with Amnesty International, encouraging others to call for his release. “Toomaj has been arrested for the peaceful exercise of his human rights including the right to freedom of expression,” Boniadi said. For now, this is all we know about the sentencing of Toomaj Salehi. Be sure to check back in with HotNewHipHop for the latest updates.

Cardi B Comes Up In Star Brim’s Gang Trial For Racketeering

Star Brim currently awaits sentencing in a New York court after pleading guilty to two racketeering charges in her case. Moreover, she asked her judge to give her no prison time on Wednesday (February 14), according to legal documents reportedly obtained by AllHipHop. Brim and her legal team made the case that she’s long moved on from being the “godmother” of the 5-9 Brims gang in the city. During these arguments, they brought up her close relationship with Cardi B as an example of her other ventures that prove that she’s learned from her mistakes. However, we’ll see how receptive the court is to this plea.

“Although Star clearly has a long history of arrests, she is somewhat unique in that she has always worked at low-paying jobs and has always supported herself independent of gang activities,” Star Brim’s attorney remarked to the judge. “She has never succumbed to the expected trappings of gang life, she never used or sold drugs or consumed alcohol. Despite having virtually no formal education, she obtained a GED in 2012. [She] has worked at a series of low-paying jobs since 2007. Since the birth of her child in early March 2020, Star has completely changed her life around.

“She has matured and grown into a wonderful, caring mother who is essentially the sole provider for her child,” Star Brim’s lawyer went on. “She is devoted and hard-working. Like any parent, [she] wants the best for her child. She recognizes the very real likelihood of separation from JS. [That is] something that would be devastating if the Court imposes a jail sentence. Her child will necessarily have to live with his father, which would be a huge adjustment and undoubtedly traumatic. Star works hard at a number of different endeavors, to provide her child with the life she wants for him. Despite the obstacles that people with criminal convictions face as they try to enter the workforce, Star has worked continually since her release from prison in 2019… She is currently employed as a residential aide at a men’s shelter in Brooklyn.

“Her Instagram presence grew tremendously because of her friendship with Belcalis Almanzar, better known as Cardi B,” they added. “Throughout the years, Star has developed skin care products, advertised other products and became an ‘influencer.’ [That] has allowed her to earn additional income.” Brim gets sentenced on Wednesday (February 21) and hopes to receive probation. Furthermore, for more news and the latest updates on Star Brim and Cardi B, come back to HNHH.

Las Vegas Judge Attacker Deobra Redden In Court Again On Separate Charges After Sentencing

Very few victims have the opportunity to sentence their attackers in court, but on Monday (January 8), Judge Mary Kay Holthus once again came face to face with Deobra Redden while seated comfortably at her bench. 2024 began on a wild note in Las Vegas, as the latter lunged at the former during a court hearing for attempted battery conviction charges last week. The incident led to time spent in isolation, as well as a “2C” inmate classification. This is the most restriction an inmate at Clark County Jail can receive, TMZ reports.

When returning to Nevada court this week, the alleged criminal had guards on each side of him, covers on his hands, and a mesh face mask. Even with the past tension between them, Holthus kept her composure during sentencing. She agreed with prosecutors in giving Redden a 19-48 month sentence for the battery incident. Today (January 9), he’s speaking with a different judge in regard to his latest crimes, for which he’s facing 13 charges.

Judge Mary Kay Holthus Sentences Her Attacker in Las Vegas

According to FOX 5 Vegas, Redden has a long list of felony counts against him. Attempted murder against an older person, battery on a protected person resulting in substantial bodily harm against an older person, and extortion are all named. Elsewhere, prosecutors say the inmate is guilty of unlawful act regarding fluid by a prisoner in confinement, and battery by a probationer or parolee. “In the next few days, my office will be reviewing all of the reports to determine what charges to bring based on Mr. Redden’s behaviour in court,” Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson told the outlet. “We’re reviewing all the reports, the witness statements, the extent of the injuries suffered by persons, certainly felony charges without a doubt.”

The past few months have been particularly busy in the crime world, with the YSL RICO trial, YNW Melly’s impending double murder retrial, and Jonathan Majors’ guilty verdict among topics making headlines. Unfortunately for the Florida native, his day in court has been postponed, meaning he’ll be spending even more time awaiting his fate in a cell. Read the latest on Melly at the link below, and check back later for any updates on the situation in Las Vegas.
