Jorja Smith’s “High” Sees Her Embark On A Self-Care Journey

There is no questioning the lyrical and vocal prowess of the one and only, Jorja Smith. The Walsall, West Midlands, England artist is also one of the most consistent when it comes to delivering standout performances. So, it is no surprise to us that Jorja Smith shines once again on “High”, her newest single. In terms of brand-new music, this is her first since her 2023 album, falling or flying. However, it technically follows up the 27-year-old’s Dirty Danger remix of “Backwards” back in May. Additionally, it supersedes a tremendous feature she laid down for Childish Gambino’s last LP under that moniker on “In The Night”. The track is becoming a standout on Bando Stone and The New World, as it now has over eight million streams.

For now, Jorja Smith’s “High” seems to just be a loosie. Obviously, though, we hope for bigger things down the line for this record. On it, the “Be Honest” vocal acrobat details her current mental state which is one of self-healing. In a statement, Jorja explains it “is a song I wrote about finding a friend within myself. Even through the lows, you have to find the highs”. The way she goes about telling this journey of self-love is through rekindling with a friend she has not talked to in some time. However, it is not necessarily the friend’s fault because she knows she needs to put the pieces back together on her own. Thankfully, Jorja sees that she can do this and she knows that she’s got a good circle around her if she needs any help in the future. It really is a beautiful and uplifting cut that is a great pick-me-up whenever you’re feeling down and out.

Drake Jumps On “Tripod Bro” Trend With Neon Nighttime Routine

Dranke has added to the growing collection of “tripod bro” videos, giving fans a vlog in which he shows off his nighttime routine. Drizzy mixes himself a drink, takes in some art, hits the hookah, and goes swimming. The entire thing is weirdly neon giving much of the apparent lighting in his home. Furthermore, he soundtracked the entire thing with “Virginia Beach”, a track from 2023’s For All The Dogs. The tripod bro trend has gone viral in recent weeks, with male lifestyle vloggers doing “a day in the life” style content.

However, there were also layers to Drake’s vlog. He tagged Drew Walls, a lifestyle influencer who is often seen going to Target in his videos. This is seemingly another shot at Yasiim Bey, who recently said that Drake’s music is the sort of music that’s perfect for a Target run. That is what made the inclusion of the more ambient “Virginia Beach” so notable, given the recent criticism aimed at that sort of Drake track. However, as a result, fans are now clamoring for Drake to do another video, this time showing him going to Target.

Drake Bets $700,000 On Strickland-Du Plessis At UFC 297

Meanwhile, Drake is also dropping some big bets on major sporting events. He recently showed off a Stake betting ticket showing he had put $700,000 on Sean Strickland to beat Dricus du Plessis at UFC 297. With Stake giving 1.97 odds on Strickland, Drake will come away with $1.4M if Strickland can take down his South African rival.

It appears that Drake has learned the error of his ways. Previously, he lost $500,000 when Strickland stunned Israel Adesanya at UFC 293. Drizzy would have walked away with a cool $920K if Adesanya had won. However, Strickland pulled off what many are calling the greatest upset in UFC middleweight history. While there wasn’t a KO in Sydney, Strickland edged out a close fight to win by unanimous decision and take the middleweight belt.

He relies on his own nutritionist, chef, physical trainer, and therapist for wisdom. Common’s upcoming book is split into four different sections of life lessons: The Food, The Body, The Mind, and The Soul. Common: A Bestselling Author

And Then We Rise is not Common’s first book. He published his first book in 2011, One Day It’ll All Make Sense, joining a long list of rappers with autobiographies. The memoir, which shares a title with his 1997 album of the same name, became a New York Times bestseller. That book explored topics including his early upbringing and his relationship with his mother.

In 2019, Common published Let Love Have The Last Word, reflecting on later parts of his life, especially his relationship with his daughter. He released his twelfth studio album, titled Let Love that same year. And Then We Rise is Common’s third book overall and first self-help offering, sharing his story in a unique way compared to his two memoirs and his albums.

With a new book on the way, Common has been busy in many facets of media. He currently stars in Silo on Apple TV+ and is currently working on a collaborative album with Pete Rock. Mac Miller’s Genius Was On Full Display With “Self Care”

Mac Miller is an artist who is still very much revered to this day. Unfortunately, he passed away back in 2018 in what was a truly tragic moment for hip-hop. Overall, Mac was someone who always paid the utmost respect to the genre. Moreover, he was also someone who was constantly evolving his art. With each new album, he was able to showcase just how truly talented he was. One of his best bodies of work was the album Swimming which came out back in 2018. In fact, this album came out five years ago today.

With this being the five-year anniversary, many people are bringing this album back to the forefront of music discourse. Vans even came out with a Mac Miller collab today, which we covered earlier this morning. As for this album, however, many are going back to it. Consequently, Mac’s genius is back on full display, and it is hard not to miss him on days like today. Having said that, we are bringing you a throwback post for Swimming‘s most popular track, “Self Care.”

Mac Miller Was One Of A Kind

With beautiful instrumentation, steady flows, and introspective lyrics, “Self Care” is just an amazing track. It felt like Mac was always trying to emotionally connect with his audience, and this song was proof of that. You can’t help but be moved by the track, especially when you take into account the struggles that Miller went through during this time.

Quotable Lyrics:

I switched the time zone, but what do I know?
Spendin’ nights hitchhikin’, where will I go?
I could fly home, with my eyes closed
But it’d get kinda hard to see, that’s no surprise though
And you could find me, I ain’t hidin’
I don’t move my feet when I be glidin’
I just slide in and then I roll out

Drake’s Pink Manicure Is His Latest “Rich Flex”

Drake has never been one to follow the crowd. This is precisely what’s driven him to such success in his career. Of course, with fame and fortune also come critics and trolls, which the father of one has no shortage of. Back in the spring, Drizzy was clowned particularly hard for an outfit he wore during a Stake and Kick live stream. It consisted of a jumpsuit declaring him “State Property” and yellow nail polish.

No matter what haters had to say, the Scorpion rapper carried himself with his usual confidence. It seems he got the manicure criticism loud and clear, though. Photos surfaced on Sunday (July 2) that show Drake rocking a beautiful two-toned pink design on his perfectly groomed nails. The 36-year-old didn’t share them himself on social media, but the technician responsible for taking care of him gave us a look at her work, as well as a photo captured with Champagne Papi afterward.

A post shared by The Shade Room (@theshaderoom)

In the comment section of @theshaderoom’s reposts, users have been merciless in making fun of Drake – again. “He definitely said ‘Besties!’ when they took this pic,” one person joked. “These ni**az really enjoying their soft girl era 🤦🏾‍♀️🥴😂,” another person chimed in. Elsewhere, others expressed that the “In My Feelings” rapper’s expression of his femininity is too much for them to handle. Regardless, the smile on his face proves how happy Drizzy is with his nails, and he’ll likely have the best manicure on the It’s All A Blur tour.

Ahead of hitting the road with his Her Loss collaborator later this week, Drake has also been taking in the public’s perception of his new poetry book. Unfortunately for the Canadian, serious poets seem to mostly be giving him a thumbs down. However, he made it clear that he isn’t phased by the critics while also paying tribute to his late Degrassi co-star Sue Johanson. Read what Drake had to say at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

Cardi B Undergoes Full-Body Laser Hair Removal: “I Told Y’all, I’m A Hairy B**ch”

Ever since her days as a stripper, Cardi B has gone to extreme lengths to keep her body and face looking beautiful. Of course, there are various plastic procedures to which she’s admitted, as well as regular maintenance treatments that leave her skin looking smooth and camera-ready at all times. In the latter category is full-body hair removal, which the mother of two underwent again earlier this week. She even documented some of the painful process for her followers on Instagram while recommending they check out the Rich Bich Clinic in New York City.

“It’s that time again you f**kers,” the East Coast rap diva declared in a video posted to her Story on Thursday (June 15). “I’m so scared,” she admitted while seemingly laying in the office nude. “It’s time to laser my whole body, because baby, I told y’all! I’m a hairy b**ch,” Cardi confessed to viewers. “But I keep it under control,” she quickly assured them. The 30-year-old said her trouble areas are her bikini area and underarms, both of which tend to darken in colour over time.

Cardi B Reminds Us Pain is Beauty

“We trying to keep that booty hole brown only,” Cardi salaciously teased. “You know what I’m saying? Sometimes it can get a little dark up close.” The Grammy Award winner makes it obvious that she felt some serious pain while on the table, but still praised the estheticians for their tremendous work on her skin. Cardi still hasn’t revealed when she’ll be dropping her sophomore album, though she did give us an idea of who she plans to collaborate with next earlier this week.

At the time, the “Be Careful” hitmaker was obviously in a braggadocious mood while making it clear that she doesn’t feel inclined to hop on a song just because it’s trending, or because the Bardi gang wants her to anymore. Rather, she’s focused on collaborating with people who she really connects with. Do you think you could handle the pain of full-body laser hair removal? Let us know in the comments, and check back later for more hip-hop pop culture news updates.

Amanda Bynes Hits The Nail Salon Following Release From Psychiatric Care

Like so many former child stars, Amanda Bynes has found herself struggling to cope with adult life. Ultimately, she’s been falling victim to her own mental health. Though she was released from a lengthy conservatorship last year, the Hairspray actress sparked major concern last month. At the time, she was discovered wandering around downtown Los Angeles completely nude. She’s believed to have been suffering from a psychotic break. Luckily the starlet was able to flag down help for herself before any serious damage was done. After visiting the authorities, Bynes was placed on a psychiatric hold to evaluate her condition.

While such holds usually last 72 hours, the former child star’s was extended. However, sources shared that her parents had no plans to reinstate their conservatorship. As March came to a close, reports claimed that Bynes was refusing to speak to her friends and family. It’s unclear if the 36-year-old is aware of the state she was in when discovered. She was likely living on the streets for some time before getting the aid she needed, police have confirmed. Prior to that, she was living with her on-again-off-again fiancé Paul Michael. Their relationship has previously been known to bring more chaos into her life.

Update on Amanda Bynes’ Mental Health

Earlier this week, fans of Bynes were pleased to hear that she’s been released from the hospital after nearly a month. It seems that her time away to heal is helping her prioritize self-care, as one of her first public sightings took place at Toluca Lake’s Cosmo Nails on Wednesday (April 12). The former cosmetology student looks laid back but healthy in the paparazzi snapshots, wearing her hair back in a bun behind a headband. According to eyewitnesses, Bynes smoked a cigarette outside while waiting to be picked up after her appointment.

According to Page Six, the plan is for the California native to continue her care via outpatient treatment. For now, she’ll maintain her independence by staying in her own home, though that may change depending on how her condition progresses. See DailyMail‘s photos of Amanda Bynes at the nail salon here, and check back later for more pop culture news updates.
