Rod Wave’s ‘Beautiful Mind’ Is Out Now And Fans Are Absolutely Loving Its Smooth Symphonies

Rod Wave has been lauded for years for his innate ability to convey sadness that many listeners feel as well through melodies and croons. Thus, his new album Beautiful Mind is being well received by the people and they are making their voices heard.

One Twitter user labeled the 22-year-old as “Fantasia for n****s,” referencing the “Free Yourself” singer’s 2000s music loaded with heartbreak and internal turmoil. Another said that his music gets listeners in their feelings from the very first beat, and the album has zero skips. In true Twitter fashion, the album led another person to fantasy book a dream collaboration between the St. Petersburg artist and the legendary band Nickelback, which many people seemed to agree with.

Despite Rod Wave being a “sad boy,” the people are pleased with his offering to a music landscape where sad boys arguably thrive more than ever before. Beautiful Mind clocks in at 24 songs with features from Jack Harlow and December Joy. It comes almost a year and a half after his 2021 album Soulfly.

Unfortunately, Rod Wave most recently made headlines for being arrested and charged with strangling his ex-girlfriend.

Beautiful Mind is out now via Alamo Records. Listen to it here.

Rod Wave’s ‘Beautiful Mind’ Tracklist Unveils An Upcoming Collaboration With Jack Harlow

Ever since Rod Wave was arrested and charged with battery for choking his ex-girlfriend, there has been a damper on the excitement for his upcoming album, Beautiful Mind. However, that hasn’t stopped the album’s rollout, which included videos for singles “Stone Rolling” and “Alone.” Today, Rod shared the album’s tracklist ahead of its eventual release at midnight, unveiling a 24-song set including the Jack Harlow collaboration, “Yungen,” as well as the previously released single, “Cold December.”

While Rod’s previous album SoulFly debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, he may have a harder time repeating that feat, even without the grisly charges hanging over his head. Megan Thee Stallion surprised fans earlier today with the announcement that her own album, Traumazine, would be dropping tonight as well, giving Rod Wave some stiff competition for rap fans’ attention thanks to a busy date that also includes releases from Black Thought & Danger Mouse and The Game.

Meanwhile, with only one feature in Jack Harlow, there aren’t too many other big names on Rod Wave’s album to get fans amped up but Jack Harlow might well be the only name he needs. The Louisville rapper has been on a tear lately, racking up seven MTV VMA nominations (tying with Kendrick Lamar for the most nominations this year) and preparing for his starring debut role in White Men Can’t Jump.

Beautiful Mind is due 8/12 via Alamo.

Rod Wave Is Charged With Battery After Choking His Ex-Girlfriend While Their Children Were Home

Rod Wave was recently arrested, and new details have come to light surrounding why. He was taken into custody during a traffic stop and charged with battery by strangulation in St. Petersburg, Florida on May 2. The arrest affidavit, obtained by Tampa Bay Times, adds that the Soulfly artist choked his ex-girlfriend while their two children were present in their home.

His former partner alleges that the 23-year-old artist entered her home in Osceola County and choked her “until she couldn’t breathe” because he suspected she was involved with other men. He then returned a second time and accused his ex-girlfriend of taking his phone, leading him to damage the inside of the house before driving away while their two daughters were asleep. The woman sustained a scratch near the left center of her neck.

Rod Wave was released from Pinellas County on $5,000 bail and pleaded not guilty to felony battery charges. He is now waiting for his trial date. This isn’t the most ideal scenario for the artist, who was gearing up to release his next album Beautiful Mind. Wave has since tweeted that he is pushing back his release date to June 10, coupling the announcement with a snippet of the song where he addresses the entire situation: “Just hope you don’t get it twisted, I love that girl to death / I make mistakes in my relationship I still regret / You know the life of a star, they all gon’ pretend / Can’t be moving off of emotions, letting new people in.”
