Fatman Scoop’s Cause Of Death Revealed

Fatman Scoop was and always will be a beloved hip-hop figure. The Harlem, New York native was able to bring immense energy to any track, lowkey or not. He’s certainly leaving an indelible mark on the genre and one that will really never be able to be replicated again. The world abruptly lost Scoop on August 30 after collapsing onstage mid-performance at Hamden Town Center Park in Connecticut. Everyone in the crowd fell silent as soon as he fell out of view behind the DJ table. Medical personnel got to the event a little after 8:30 p.m. and tried to administer CPR.

He was then transported to a local hospital, which is where he lived his final moments. But in true Fatman Scoop fashion, he did get to do what he was best at; having fans jump around and live just as carefree and fun as he did. His radiant personality will assuredly always be with us and his loved ones for the rest of time. It’s why it’s still hard to talk about him almost a month later, as we now have confirmation on his cause of death.

Sexyy Red Honors Rich Homie Quan During Her Show

Sexyy Red was one of many artists shocked by the sudden death of Rich Homie Quan. News of this broke on Thursday (September 5), the same day she had a “Sexyy Red 4 President” tour stop in Lincoln, Nebraska alongside her tour mate Kodak Black. The St. Louis femcee paid tribute to the late Atlanta icon’s memory by briefly playing his classic 2013 cut “Type Of Way.” While these two rappers never collaborated, interacted much if at all, and probably might’ve never met each other, it’s still heartening albeit tragic to see that the younger generation of hip-hop artists knows how special RHQ is and how saddening this loss is.

One small reason as to why this tragedy struck so many folks so deeply is that we will never get to see the reconciliation between Rich Homie Quan and Young Thug that they had spoken about and that fans dreamed of. “We do have a lot of music that hasn’t been released,” Quan had said in an interview before passing away later down the line. “But who knows what the future holds? First and foremost, it’s free Thugger. It’s free anybody that’s locked up, it’s free Lucci. It’s a touchy situation, so I try not to talk about it a lot. But I don’t know what the future holds, man, you know what I’m saying? I’m willing to have a conversation, and it’ll start from there.”

Sexyy Red Pays Tribute To Rich Homie Quan

Another recent and perhaps unexpected tribute to Rich Homie Quan came from Big Sean. “We got a lot of good memories together, you know what I’m saying?” he told TMZ on Thursday. “We’ve been in the studio, Treehouse Studios, you know, ATL. We had some great sessions, me and Rich Homie. He was one of one. He was one of one, for sure. His style… He was just very special, a very good heart. It’s such a tragedy hearing about his loss today.”

Meanwhile, Rich Homie Quan’s music is unsurprisingly experiencing a big boost these days. There are a lot of debates on whether or not these reflections and tributes are legitimate. Some rappers and other colleagues out there think that some folks are spreading fake love. But regardless of where it comes from, there’s a well-deserved grieving process right now through which fans and loved ones are personally honoring his legacy, impact, and memory.
RIP Rich Homie Quan.

Kyle Marisa Roth Spoke Cryptically About Jennifer Lopez Before Dying: Video

No matter how much Jennifer Lopez tries to stay out of drama, the fashionista seems to constantly be taking the blame for other people’s struggles. Most recently, the death of a TikToker, Kyle Marisa Roth, is being pinned on the New York native, and the story is interesting albeit sad. As Distractify reports, the content creator lost her life on April 15th after a battle with colon cancer. The official cause of death hasn’t yet come out, though social media is abuzz with allegations pointing fingers at Lopez.

On her TikTok page, Roth shared celebrity gossip content, sometimes posting about “Jenny from the Block.” According to past videos, JLo’s negative reaction to this had a direct impact on her income, particularly after Roth’s account was banned after she used footage from the multi-talent’s film about growing up in the Bronx, The Greatest Love Story Never Told. The late entertainer said that Lopez’s “narcissism single-handedly crushed her small business,” leaving her unable to download or save content that had amassed her billions of views. “JLo has cost me more than four figures of income just for March 2024,” Roth alleged after making a new account.

Losing out on money is hard for anyone, but with Roth’s health condition, it was incredibly detrimental. “If I die of colon cancer, it’s on her,” the blonde creative said online just a week before she passed away. Since Kyle’s death, her mom has shared a statement urging people to be more kind to others. “My message as her mother is TikTok, the toxicity, the mean-spiritedness of what Kyle has faced, what so many people have faced and try to deal with because of that toxic space. I just want people to live their lives with the brightness of Kyle and her beautiful soul and spirit.”

When Jennifer Lopez reconnected with her ex, Ben Affleck, the Hustlers actress likely didn’t expect another former lover, Sean “Diddy” Combs to also resurface in her life. While not in a romantic capacity, JLo’s past with the Bad Boy mogul is in the news once again as the FBI is reportedly considering looking into the infamous 1999 Shyne nightclub shooting. Read all about that at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

Is OJ Simpson Khloe Kardashian’s Dad? Reality Starlet’s Name Comes Up Amid Athlete’s Death

OJ Simpson’s passing on Wednesday (April 10) is sad news, though not everyone agrees why. Some are mourning the loss of an incredible football player, while others are disappointed that we may never truly know whether he killed his ex-wife. Along with that mystery, there’s also the rumours of Simpson being the father of Khloe Kardashian, which are resurfacing online after his death. As you may recall, the gossip began spreading over a decade ago, after Kris Jenner spoke about cheating on her late ex-husband, Robert Kardashian. It’s since been addressed on the famous family’s KUWTK reality show, though not everyone is convinced the moment was authentic.

As Us Weekly notes, after separating from Jenner, the Kardashian patriarch married Jan Ashley before his 2003 death. In 2012, she claimed that Robert told her that Khloe (his and Kris’ third child) isn’t biologically his. “Khloe is not his kid — he told me that after we got married,” Ashley previously alleged. “He just kind of looked at me and said [it] like it was a matter of fact. He said, ‘Well, you know that Khloé’s not really a Kardashian, don’t you? And I said … ‘OK,’ and that was it.” Because the late lawyer worked on Simpson’s defense team, connections between him and Jenner quickly arose.

Kris Jenner Wanted to Clear up Paternity Rumours for Khloe Kardashian

However, the former NFLer has said that the 68-year-old wasn’t his type back in the day. “I always thought Kris was a cute girl. She was really nice, but I was dating supermodels,” he said on the Full Send podcast in 2022. When asked about the Good American founder allegedly being his daughter, Simpson added, “The rumour ain’t true. It’s not even anywhere close to being true.”

All the feuds taking place between our favourite rappers this spring has made social media a chaotic but entertaining environment. Now, OJ Simpson’s death is adding to the mix as reactions continue to pour in. OJ Simpson Death Reactions Take Over Twitter/X

We were shocked to hear about the death of football legend OJ Simpson, as were millions of others across the globe. The 76-year-old was quietly battling cancer before he ultimately succumbed to the illness, and we even saw him making occasional appearances on Cam’ron and Mase’s It Is What It Is podcast. Simpson’s family says that he passed on Wednesday, “surrounded by his children and grandchildren” while also asking for privacy and grace from the world.

Unfortunately, due to Simpson’s shameless antics after being acquitted of Nicole Brown Simpson’s murder, people are having a hard time letting him rest easy. So far, social media posts about the athlete’s death are mostly joking about him being “dragged” to hell by his alleged victims, or crossing paths with other troubling figures who already might be spending time with Satan.

Social Media Reactions Are Mixed

“Did OJ Simpson kill two people? Yes Is he the only man to ever run for 2,000 yards in a 14-game season? Also yes, and that’s what really matters,” one Twitter/X user joked. “RIP OJ Simpson. I’m glad he no longer has to live in fear,” another quipped alongside a TMZ screenshot explaining that the acquitted murderer was fearful of spending time in Los Angeles in case he ran into the killer. XXXTENTACION’s Killer Laughs At Rapper’s Son After Gekyume Pays Tribute To His Late Father

When XXXTENTACION was killed, not only did he leave behind millions of fans to mourn, but the young star also said an untimely goodbye to his son. Gekyume Onfroy is now five years old, and though we don’t see much of him in the public eye, updates do surface every now and then to show us how X’s son is learning and growing without his father physically by his side. Sadly, the latest one is going viral thanks to a tactless reaction from one of the “Jocelyn Flores” artist’s killers.

The initial footage of young Onfroy is heartwarming, showing him leading another man through his house to show off photos of XXXTENTACION. “That’s my dad!” he excitedly says while showing off a framed image of the Florida native performing. “Do you wanna see another picture of my dad?” X’s song happily asks, leading the way toward another happy memory. “Have you showed me these before?” a voice behind the camera asks, suggesting Onfroy has a lot of pride in his father, even though they didn’t get to spend much time together.

YMT Boatwright Appears to Laugh at XXXTENTACION’s Son’s Pain

When YMT Boatwright, one of the men responsible for taking X’s life, got hold of the video, he couldn’t resist reposting it on Instagram. Rather than feeling remorseful for his actions, it seems like the “😂😂” emojis he wrote alongside the video suggest he feels very proud to have left the young boy without a father.

XXXTENTACION’s 2018 death feels like it happened only yesterday. Even all this time later, new information regarding the tragedy continues to come out, such as this month’s autopsy report reveal. Not everyone was happy to see the details of their favourite rapper’s death be shared with the public, though some gained closure from a more clear understanding of what happened. DMX Death Anniversary: Ruff Ryders Honour Late Rapper At His Gravesite

One of the hardest parts about being a hip-hop head is the number of casualties listeners witness in comparison to other genres of music. Gun violence has taken far too many talented lyricists before their time, and the same is true of drug overdoses. The latter is what caused DMX to pass away when he was only 50 years old on April 9, 2021. Though it’s now been three years since his departure, those closest to the multi-talent continue to celebrate him, particularly when the anniversary of his passing comes around.

As HipHopDX reports, in 2024 the crew at Ruff Ryders Entertainment are doing their part to remember DMX. On Tuesday afternoon they shared content from their trip to the fallen star’s gravesite in Yonkers’ Oakland Cemetery where they reflected on some of the New York native’s best moments. “Let’s give it to X because he stayed true to himself and he never sold out,” one person says in the video below.

DMX’s Legacy Lives On Past His Untimely Death

“He kept it real till the casket dropped, y’know what I’m saying? You don’t get real cats like that, that represent from the beginning to the end,” they further praised the “Where The Hood At” hitmaker. In 2023, the same group of Ruff Ryders hosted a “Ryde Out” event to commemorate their friend, and we’re curious to see what other creative ways they’ll find to keep his torch lit going forward. Thankfully, X had a large family who can help them brainstorm ideas for years to come.

DMX may no longer be with us in body, but his spirit certainly lives on through his seventeen children. One of them, Exodus, recently took part in the “of course” TikTok trend, letting the world know just how similar he and his late father are. Check that wholesome moment out at the link below, and tap back in with HNHH later for more pop culture/music news updates.

Legendary Hip-Hop Drummer Keith Leblanc Dead At 69

Hip-hop has lost a foundational member. Keith Leblanc, the drummer who made his name on classic singles from the likes of Grandmaster Flash and the Sugarhill Gang, has passed away. Leblanc’s death was attributed to an undisclosed illness, according to his widow, Fran. He was 69 years old. Despite not being a household name, Leblanc’s career was lengthy, and his list of iconic collaborators was celebrated by his former label, On-U Sound. The label dubbed the drummer an “incredible” producer and “musical maverick” in a written statement.

Leblanc’s genre contributions cannot be overstated. He was the in-house drummer for Sugar Hill Records in the late 1970s, which led to group and solo innovations. He appeared on the Sugarhill Gang tracks “8th Wonder” and “Apache,” which were some of the earliest examples of hip-hop receiving mainstream attention. Leblanc’s playing style led to him drumming on hit recordings by Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Kool Moe Dee & the Treacherous 3, and the Cash Crew. He also wrote and produced the 1983 single “No Sell Out” under the name Malcolm X. “No Sell Out” is one of the earliest instances of sample-based composing in popular music.

Keith Leblanc Wrote The Hip-Hop Classic “No Sell Out”

Leblanc continued to experiment as his career progressed. Once his time at Sugar Hill Records came to an end, the drummer joined the industrial band Tackhead. Tackhead never achieved mainstream success but their blending of dub and hip-hop music have since made them a cult band. However, Leblanc found tremendous success as a session musician during the 1990s. He drummed on the Nine Inch Nails album Pretty Hate Machine, as well as the Tina Turner release Wildest Dreams. He also recorded six albums as a member of the blues-rock outfit Little Axe.

Leblanc loved what he did, and took every opportunity he could to make it known. During a 2023 interview with Burning Ambulance, the drummer took a moment to reflect on all he had achieved, and how much fun he had along the way. “I got a chance to meet a lot of my heroes, and they never disappointed me, you know,” he stated. “I’m really glad — I’m fortunate to have been in the right place at the right time for most of my career.” Leblanc will get more of his deserved flowers in due time, as historian Jay Quan is working on a documentary about the drummer’s career.

MC Hammer Fans Thought He Passed Away Due To #RIPHammer Twitter Trend

MC Hammer is untouchable when it comes to one-hit wonders in hip-hop, and still holds a lot of cultural weight. As such, you may have noticed that rap Twitter recently went into a firestorm because #RIPHammer was trending on the social media platform. Fans thought that he had passed away, and a lot of them got that sentiment popularized and trending before seeing what the trend was actually about. Needless to say, the rapper is actually doing just fine, and his fans or folks with a lot of nostalgia have no reason to fret. Still, they should learn about the real reason why #RIPHammer was trending.

This is not due to MC Hammer, but rather to UFC fighter Mark Coleman’s dog, Hammer. Furthermore, Coleman saved his family, specifically his parents, from a devastating fire in their home, but their dog tragically passed away. As the story gained more traction online, folks tagged #RIPHammer, and it wasn’t a reference Tupac’s “loved and respected” friend. “Yall need to be more specific with these hashtags,” one fan expressed. “When I saw #RIPHammer trending I thought we loss one of music’s greatest.”

MC Hammer Fans Almost Start Mourning Due To Twitter Trend

But MC Hammer isn’t really in the spotlight like that anymore, although there’s clearly still a lot of care and concern for his well-being and interest in his celebrity status. It’s also nabbed him a couple of new brand and partnership deals from which he can continue to profit and make a living. For example, the 61-year-old teamed up with Cheetos for a Super Bowl ad in 2020 celebrating 30 years since his smash hit, “U Can’t Touch This.” While the song definitely sounds dated at this point, it’s also quite remarkable how it continues to pop up in pop culture.

Nevertheless, did you fall for this Twitter trend’s confusion or is this all completely fresh news to you? What’s the last time a trending topic made you do a double take? However you may feel, drop your thoughts in the comments section down below. Also, as always, for more news on MC Hammer and the latest curious happenings in the rap world, stay posted on HNHH.
