Ashanti confirmed that she and Nelly are back together while walking the red carpet at the MTV Video Music Awards on Tuesday night. While carrying a clutch with the rapper’s face on it, she remarked to PEOPLE: “We’re in a great space, everything is positive, we’re having a lot of fun.” She also teased that they may collaborate on new music together.
The confirmation comes after Nelly recently spoke about him and Ashanti being back together again. He opened up about their relationship during an interview with Love and Hip Hop’s Rasheeda for her Boss Moves podcast.

“Yeah, we cool again,” he admitted when asked about their situation. “I think it surprised both of us, though. It wasn’t anything that …[was] planned. I think we’re both pretty much doing what we do. Sometimes being separate you understand one another more. You could be like, ‘Yo, let me see exactly what they see.’ You know, because we all can be defensive sometimes in our own relationships. And we know we wrong but we going to stand on it. But we all a victim to that.”
Nelly added that this time around, there’s “no pressure.” He continued: “Before I felt like both of us are doing what we’re doing career-wise and when you got so many people in the middle of it, it could be tough.” Nelly and Ashanti originally began dating back in 2003 and stayed together for a decade before splitting up. Rumors of their rekindled romance made headlines in December 2022, when Ashanti joined Nelly on stage at Power 98.3 and 96.1’s Under the Mistletoe show in Arizona. Last night was the MTV VMAs where there were plenty of stars in attendance and plenty of cameras rolling. With exciting performances from some of the biggest stars in music going on all night, some were bound to cross paths backstage. That’s why there are so many cameras to catch moments like a backstage interaction between Megan Thee Stallion and Justin Timberlake. What looked like a heated argument between the two turned out to not be so dramatic, but the cameras also made headlines for what they didn’t film.
Lil Wayne was a staple throughout the show last night. Most notably he opened up the festivities with a rousing performance of his track “Uproar.” But at some point in the night when the cameras tried to follow him backstage, his security prevented them. The security first puts his hand up to get the cameraperson to stop filming. When that doesn’t work he physically points the camera away from Wayne. The reason for the diversion appears to be a mystery woman that the rapper was holding hands with backstage. Later on in the night, Lil Wayne was also part of the newest tribute to rap music’s 50th anniversary. In a grand showing of love for the genre he was joined by Nicki Minaj, LL Cool J, DMC, Doug E Fresh, Slick Rich, and Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five for a tribute that spanned decades of hip-hops past, present, and future.
The VMAs aren’t the only place in recent weeks to honor Lil Wayne as a legend in rap. Earlier this month he received the BMI Icon Award. During the ceremony, he was honored by NLE Choppa, and Big Freedia. Afterward, he was given his flowers by none other than Nicki Minaj. Tink and Hitmaka have had an artist/producer relationship for quite some time that seemed to be strictly professional. However, it turns out they may have also been romantically involved all along. The pair have had a productive history which has birthed several R&B gems. Regardless, it looks like mixing business with pleasure may not have been the best idea. As a matter of fact, that seems to have thrown a wrench into things.
Following a recent altercation, their entire relationship looks to be at a terrible point of no return. The R&B singer and rapper has admitted to putting her hands on Hitmaka during their altercation. She has since stated that she had no choice but to “get physical.” Following the messy series of events, their lives have spilled over into social media, allowing for a back-and-forth indirect interaction between the two.
This dynamic duo’s paths coincided when they worked on Tink’s 2021 summer-themed album, Heat Of The Moment. Tink has credited the prolific producer for pushing her to explore a brighter sound on the project. She also sang his praises for helping her shift from her usually melancholic style.
The singer first gained significant recognition as a teen in the early 2010s, following the releases of her first few mixtapes. However, Heat Of The Moment marked a pivotal point in her career and the genesis of her relationship with Hitmaka. In the years since then, they have worked on two more albums and established a notable working relationship.

Hitmaka has had a complicated and extensive dating history. The former Love & Hip Hop star allegedly pistol-whipped an ex-girlfriend of his, and landed her in a hospital with several injuries sustained. Besides gaining attention following such incidents in his relationships, the producer mostly keeps his love life on the low. Tink is not one to announce her romantic endeavors, either. In fact, for the majority of her career, she has not been vocal about her relationships, opting to keep that part of her life private.
Due to this, it is unknown to the public when exactly the two began dating. However, Tink hinted at their relationship being more than just professional in an interview with WGCI’s The Morning Show. When asked if the rumors were true about her and Hitmaka being an item, Tink called him her “dawg” and “special friend,” raising eyebrows from the public. “I’m glad we mentioned Hitmaka. He’s the executive producer of the album, so outside of personal life, we put in a lot of work,” she said. “That’s my special friend. We’re very close, we have a great business relationship, and personal. I got a soft spot for him.” It’s unclear what her cryptic answer means in terms of their romantic involvement, but it is very likely they had already gotten together at the time.
On September 9, Tink took to Instagram live to air her dissatisfaction over the events of her run-in with Hitmaka earlier that month in Cancun. The two had coincidentally ended up in the same restaurant, and when Hitmaka made to leave the space, she allegedly followed after him and got physical in the process of talking to him. In a video of his own, Hitmaka divulged his side of the story. He claimed that they were going through a breakup while trying to clear the air about what exactly happened. He said in the video, “I love Trinity. We love each other. We’re going through a breakup.”
Tink alleges that they broke up because the producer had requested $2 million. This allegedly occurred after she informed him she wanted to work on her next album separately from him. The tension is still particularly high between the two, and their future remains uncertain. Hitmaka seems to be taking things in stride and playing the seriousness of the situation off. However, Tink seems heated and very slighted.
Dave Portnoy has weighed in on the rumors that Taylor Swift is currently dating NFL star Travis Kelce. Portnoy, a self-proclaimed Swiftie, penned a piece for Barstool, outlining his feelings on the potential couple. “So I bet he likes the idea of dating Taylor more than actually dating her,” Portnoy wrote. “But that’s okay. Taylor loves dating big-name celebs who are sure to break her heart so why not a football player over some DJ or musician?” Portnoy wrote. “Granted if she went the athlete route I’d picture her more of a Daniel Jones type guy but the heart wants what the heart wants,” he added. “Also I’m a firm believer that the athlete should get the girl not the band geek. That’s just Darwinism 101.”
His wariness also extended to a poll on Instagram, in which he asked his fellow Swifties if they shipped the couple. “Wouldn’t be my 1st choice but Mother works hard to provide for us, [but] she is allowed to have fun too,” Portnoy added as a caption. However, Portnoy explicitly stated that he did inevitably support the relationship if the rumors were true. “So even though I think there is no shot in hell this relationship works or ever gets serious I do support it. At the very least we should get a few good songs out of the breakup,” he concluded in his op-ed.

Earlier this week, The Messenger reported that Swift and Kelce have reportedly been hanging out over the last few weeks. Per a source who spoke to the outlet, “She saw him when she was in NYC a few weeks ago.” However, the validity of this is questionable. Swift has been pretty busy with the Eras Tour, which wrapped up until November on August 27. Meanwhile, Kelce has primarily been training with the Chiefs ahead of the NFL season.
What we do know is that Kelce did attend one of her Eras concerts. “Well, I was disappointed. [Taylor] doesn’t talk before or after the show because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs she sings during the show. So I was a little butthurt I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her. If you’re up on Taylor Swift concerts, there are friendship bracelets and I received a bunch of them. But I wanted to give one to Taylor with my number on it. She doesn’t meet anybody, or at least she didn’t wanna meet me. Cardi B was at the MTV Video Music Awards last night. Overall, she has become a staple of the event in recent years. However, in 2023, she was there for a multitude of reasons. Among them was the fact that she has a new song out with none other than Megan Thee Stallion. This song is called “Bongos,” and during the festivities last night, she got to perform it for the very first time. Overall, the performance went extremely well, and fans were mesmerized by the visuals that they were seeing.
One person who enjoyed the performance quite a bit was none other than her husband, Offset. The two have been a power couple in hip-hop, even if there have been a few controversies here and there. The former Migos rapper was in the crowd dancing to the performance and having a great time. Although it was the festivities in the bathroom that probably got Offset the most excited. Throughout the clip, Cardi B trolls bathroom-goers by moaning and talking in a high-pitched voice. At one point, someone comes into the bathroom and all they can do is laugh. Considering the situation, that is probably the appropriate response. The video was eventually posted to Cardi’s Instagram story, and it has since been making the rounds online. If one thing is for sure, however, it is that the VMAs were one huge party last night.
Overall, there were a ton of great performances and some phenomenal award winners. Moreover, Nicki Minaj did a great job hosting the event as she gave us a ton of amazing music. Now in new pictures shared by TMZ, the pair are doubling down on their risqué fashion choices. In the photos, Censori sports some black shorts and a very see-through top that doesn’t leave much to the imagination. Kanye also continues to have wardrobe malfunctions as he once again flashes photographers, though whether that’s accidental or not after all is up for debate.
Friends of Bianca Censori have expressed concern over the pair’s relationship in recent weeks.
