Ransom, Conway The Machine, & V Don Unite For 10-Track Effort “Chaos Is My Ladder 2”

Ransom and Conway the Machine had underground hip-hop fans chomping at the bit about a week ago. The unofficial duo put out a track called “Higher Killer” alongside Lloyd Banks and producer V Don. Since its release on August 30, the record has garnered quite a bit of traction, raking in over 76,000 streams. Fans felt they were picking up the scent of an upcoming collaboration project. Well, they were spot on the money because Ransom and Conway are here a week later with Chaos Is My Ladder 2.

Given the straight-forward nature of the lead single, we were predicting that this would be a fairly simple listening experience. What we mean by that is that we saw a scenario where the project would be pretty short and not toy with the listener. Give us what we need and nothing more. That’s exactly what we are getting from Ransom, Conway, and V Don. It’s 10 cuts and it clocks in at around 27 minutes. In all honesty, that’s what we were hoping for. While they are certainly great MCs from a rapping perspective, we don’t think they can differentiate things enough to keep things sounding fresh. Conway’s last project was a pretty good example of this. But overall, this is a tight and very fine tape from two of NY’s most prolific acts.

Ransom, Conway The Machine & V Don Release ‘Chaos Is My Ladder 2’ Project

Ransom and V Don closed out 2022 with a pre-Christmas drop entitled Chaos Is My Ladder.  The sequel, offers even more bars, as Chaos Is My Ladder 2 unites two of the most revered MCs in the game, each known for their unparalleled lyricism and uncompromising style. The project represents a fusion of Ransom’s razor-sharp wordplay, Conway The Machine’s effortless flow and gritty storytelling, and production by V Don that complements the lyrical acrobatics Ransom and Conway display.

Chaos Is My Ladder 2 promises to be one of the most impactful underground projects of the year.  Ran and Con bar up to the point that there is only room for one guest appearance, Lloyd Banks (who also made an appearance on CIML), who appeared on the project’s lead single “Higher Killer.”

“When V Don and I were recording Chaos Is My Ladder, we planned on making a series of releases.  It wasn’t until we started recording CIML2, that we came up with the concept of bringing in a guest collaborator for each volume in the series.” Ransom recalls.  “Conway was the first and only choice for CIML2.  I know our fans will agree, it’s rarified air to get a project by two of the top lyricists in the game.”

“Ran and Con are both top-tier lyricists; putting them together over my production is next-level pure madness…pure chaos” V Don adds.

Ransom, Conway The Machine & V Don’s Chaos Is My Ladder 2 is now available!

Conway The Machine & Ransom Announce A Brand-New Collab Project And It’s Coming Soon

Conway the Machine and Ransom were getting some fans hopeful over this past weekend. Two of New York’s underground greats, along with producer V Don and Lloyd Banks, dropped a posse cut, “Higher Killer”. The single is dark and intense, and of course features great rapping from all three MCs. During its release, neither artist involved mentioned anything about it being a lead off track. However, if you were checking out the Genius page for it, it was saying that “Higher Killer” was off a project.

It was listed under Chaos Is My Ladder Too, a collab tape between Ransom, Conway, and V Don. Fans were wondering if this was actually the start to a project roll out last Friday. Now, those suspicions are confirmed, according to HipHopDX. Ransom shared a joint Instagram post with the Griselda affiliate on the main feed with a revealing caption and image. The official cover consists of intimidating black and white portraits of the two rappers.

To be clear that is this week, September 6. Everyone, including us, is clearly ready for this to happen as evidenced by all of the “🔥” in the comments section.

Ransom Potentially Previews An Upcoming Posse Tape With “Higher Killer” Featuring Conway The Machine & More

Ransom, Conway the Machine, and producer V Don might be cooking up something serious behind closed doors. According to some fan speculation in the comments section on Ransom’s Instagram, this triple-headed monster is working on a posse project of sorts. “Conway need a tape w ran”. “Is this off the Ran & Con tape we’ve been waiting for 👀”. The “this” that the latter fan is inquiring about is a new Ransom single, “Higher Killer”. The track also includes a verse from the gravelly-voiced MC Lloyd Banks and overall, this record is a slapper front to back no doubt about it.

V Don concocted a dramatic and frenetic East Coast boom-bap special with this one. The lone highlight of the instrumental is hard to choose. You have incredibly dark string sections, as well resonant and rich bass, and a deadly hi-hat to drum ratio. Then, as for the rapping performances, Ransom, Lloyd, and Conway are all locked in right from the start of their respective verses. We can certainly say that about Conway, and he will assuredly shut up the skeptics that have been claiming his recent output hasn’t been consistent. Genius seems to have more info on the project in terms of the title, which is Chaos Is My Ladder Too. If this turns out to all be real, then “Higher Kiler” is a perfect start to the roll out.

Quotable Lyrics:

Shit, I ramble when I get aggravated
Agitated— screw up your databases, I’m that abrasive
Look, what if Goliath hopped on the back of David?

Listеn, there’s no amenities in a cell
You can never pray for a heaven when meant to be in a hell

Ransom Snags MadeinTYO To Produce His 3-Track EP “SMOKE & MIRRORS”

Prolific underground New Jersey rapper Ransom has worked with plenty of talented producers before, but MadeinTYO might be the most interesting one of them all. While the latter was never a massive mainstream figure, the Honolulu, Hawaii born was closer to that mark than Ransom has ever been. The Atlanta based MC is known for breaking into stardom with songs like “Uber Everywhere”, “Skateboard P”, and “I Want”. All of these are far cries from the grittiness of the East Coast underground scene. So, when this surprise EP, SMOKE & MIRRORS, was announced just a couple of days ago, seeing MadeinTYO was a surprise. For those who have been following Ransom, you know that this is the second project for him this year. Beforehand, him and Harry Fraud teamed up for Lavish Misery.

That EP is longer than SMOKE & MIRRORS by five songs, so there is already a smaller margin for error on that factor alone. However, Ransom and MadeinTYO make the most of the 8:53 they share. The opening “SMOKING MIRRORS” is a smooth and chill introduction, with a peaceful guitar loop being the track’s backbone. Narratively, Ransom looks back at his past decisions in his life that have shaped him. “ANTEBELLUM” with Che Noir is a soulful cut about the give and take in relationships with her and Ransom rapping from their gender perspectives. To close things out is “HUMAN NATURE”, which arguably is MadeinTYO’s best beat here. Twinkling piano melodies along with dreamy and soft tones are an incredible marriage on this introspective cut. Overall, this is a terrific short body of work with incredible replay value.

Harry Fraud & Ransom Collaborate On An Album For The First Time With “Lavish Misery”

New York hip-hop is the mecca for the genre as most know. Ransom and Harry Fraud are two modern greats that continuing its longstanding legacy. Both have been going strong for about 30 years total and have well-defined sounds. For the veteran producer, Fraud is coming off a terrific 2023 filled with high-profile collaborations. He got to work alongside artists such as Kamaiyah and Jay Worthy, Valee, and Curren$y. Now, Harry Fraud is teaming up with Ransom for Lavish Misery.

This effort sees the two East Coast talents work together on a full-fleshed project. However, they have created some heat together prior to this. “Band of Brothers” is an example that comes from the beat maker and 38 Spesh’s team tape Beyond Belief. Ransom and Harry Fraud’s Lavish Misery comes just a couple of weeks after its lead single.
