Tony Yayo Calls French Montana A “Marketing Genius”

It goes without saying that French Montana has managed to do the impossible by making a name for himself and standing out in the hip-hop space. While plenty of this has to do with the hitmaker’s musical abilities, he also has his marketing skills to thank, according to Tony Yayo. During a recent conversation with VladTV, the NYC-born performer praised French for his talents, arguing that they’ve put him ahead of the pack.

“These are the marketing geniuses right here,” Tony Yayo begins in a clip from the interview. “So I’m always going to shout them out… French to me was always a marketing genius. He always was kind of smart… he was always just kind of ahead of his time.”

While he may have been ahead of his time, French Montana hasn’t been able to dodge criticism following the release of his latest project, Mac & Cheese 5. The performer received some pushback from fans for dropping various versions of the mixtape on streaming services, including one massive 126-track edition, which features the tracks from all versions combined. He even faced fraud allegations, after various listeners came forward claiming their pre-ordered vinyl copies of the record were shipped to incorrect addresses.

Ultimately, the project ended up debuting well below what was previously projected. Despite the backlash, he stands by the release, including the controversial 126-track edition. In a message shared with social media followers late last month, French called the decision nothing but “simple science,” and compared himself to the likes of City Girls’ JT and even Taylor Swift. However, even if fans know Timbaland and Dr. Dre, audibly hearing that they are great talents always feels good. Well, that is exactly what happened not too long ago. According to HipHopDX, Dr. Dre made sure to tell Timbaland that he was one of his biggest inspirations and continues to be to this day.

This all went down at a High School Education Benefit Auction at the Iovine and Young Center. Dre started off by saying, “This guy is so fantastic, man. One of my inspirations. He doesn’t know it but he’s been one of my main inspirations throughout my career.”

That gushing continued, as the crowd cheered and clapped for this brotherly connection. “I really appreciate you coming out and handling this business for us. Thank you, Timbaland. Wiz Khalifa Praises Kanye West & Ty Dolla Sign’s “Vultures 1”

Earlier this month, Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign finally unveiled their eagerly anticipated new album, Vultures 1. The album is the first of three volumes. The second and third are expected to drop in March and April. So far, fans have mostly been pleased with the album, and can’t wait to hear what else the duo has up their sleeves.

Several of the artists’ peers have also weighed in on Vultures 1, including Wiz Khalifa. Earlier this week, the performer took to social media to share his thoughts on the album. Clearly, he had nothing but nice things to say. He gave a nod to Ty Dolla Sign in particular, noting how he has a bright future ahead of him after this release. “I’m super hype for Ty,” he wrote. “Him and Ye’s album slaps uncontrollably.”

Of course, there will always be critics, especially when it comes to Ye and his questionable past. For example, following one of his and Ty’s listening parties in Chicago, Ozzy Osbourne took to Twitter/X to put him on blast. Allegedly, Kanye had asked if he could use a Black Sabbath sample for the project, and was told no. Evidently, however, he allegedly did it anyway. “@kanyewest ASKED PERMISSION TO SAMPLE A SECTION OF A 1983 LIVE PERFORMANCE OF ‘WAR PIG’ FROM THE US FESTIVAL WITHOUT VOCALS & WAS REFUSED PERMISSION BECAUSE HE IS AN ANTISEMITE AND HAS CAUSED UNTOLD HEARTACHE TO MANY,” the metal icon wrote. “HE WENT AHEAD AND USED THE SAMPLE ANYWAY AT HIS ALBUM LISTENING PARTY LAST NIGHT. I WANT NO ASSOCIATION WITH THIS MAN!”

Donna Summer’s estate took a similar, though far less passionate approach when they accused Ye of “copyright infringement” days later. Logic Recruits Drag Queen To Star In New “Fear” Music Video, Viewers Commend Him

At the end of January, Logic dropped a new trailer for his eagerly anticipated upcoming album, Ultra 85. While an exact timeline for the project’s release remains unclear, it’s safe to say that listeners can’t wait. Fans have been hoping for Ultra 85 for some time now, and finally expect it to arrive sometime in the next couple of months.

Alongside the trailer, Logic unveiled the release date of the project’s lead single, “Fear.” The track and accompanying music video arrived today, and so far, fans haven’t been disappointed. The track touches on themes of identity and encourages listeners to be themselves unapologetically, despite what critics have to say about it.

To help him send his message, Logic recruited none other than Portland-based drag queen and makeup artist Tajh “Flawless Shade” Jordan to star in the video. Both Logic and Flawless Jade are receiving a tremendous amount of praise for the powerful visual, which embodies the song’s themes of freedom and creativity. “Absolutely love this and the video! Thank you Logic for being you and continuing to spread your message of Peace, Love and Positivity!” one fan writes. “Your growth and authenticity over the years have really solidified you,” another says. “Rather than playing safe, you challenge yourself and you speak a REAL message.”

Snoop Dogg Says Donald Trump Has His “Love & Respect” For Pardon

Snoop Dogg recently doubled down on his goodwill for Donald Trump during a recent interview with The Times, and if you weren’t already aware, this isn’t his first rodeo when it comes to this support. “Donald Trump? He ain’t done nothing wrong to me,” he shared. “He has done only great things for me.” Specifically, Tha Doggfather referred to the disgraced former president’s pardon of Death Row Records co-founder Michael “Harry-O” Harris, one of his last acts before he left office in January of 2021. “So I have nothing but love and respect for Donald Trump,” he concluded.

Furthermore, this is what the Long Beach legend had to say a couple of years ago when news of this pardon broke. “That’s great work for the president and his team on the way out,” Snoop Dogg expressed. “They did some great work while they was in there and they did some great work on their way out. Let them know that I love what they did. It is amazing what the work of God can actually bring to life to make people understand that there is a God.”

However, Snoop Dogg wasn’t always a fan of Donald Trump. “So, me and my homeboys sittin’ up here talkin’ about all the people that President Trump disrespected,” he recalled in September of 2020. “Women, gays, transgender people, Blacks, Mexicans, Asians, and now veterans. Hm. Seems like he’s disrespecting every color in the world and everything that ain’t what he is, which is a racist. With that being said, the people that voted for him got exactly what they wanted. “When i said i love an artist there’s nothing political about it,” the message begins. “Ye is my favorite artist of all time. I’ve been saying it for years. If it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t be here period. And I love him period. It’s offensive to me that some people on here took a moment i had been waiting on my whole life and twisted into some weird a** oppression olympics.”

His post continues, “You can’t play oppression olympics with a grown black man whose dealt with racism in real time. So please shut the actual f*ck up and keep bumping the artist yall like that beat b*tches up and rape girls in real life. Ye’s repost comes after he linked up with JPEGMAFIA this month following his viral Twitter rant. In the rant, JPEG admitted to “[feeling] a way” about Ye acknowledging other artists who have “less to offer” than him. Common Praises Andre 3000 & Nas’ Lyrics: “Those Words Will Last”

It’s no secret that Common’s got some serious writing skills, but that doesn’t stop him from occasionally looking at other artists with envy. During a recent interview on Hot 97’s Ebro in the Morning, the Chicago MC discussed Andre 3000’s new instrumental album, New Blue Sun. He says that while he obviously appreciates the Outkast icon’s bars, he’s just happy to see him putting out music of any kind, despite it being somewhat controversial.

“First of all, it’s just great to hear something from André,” he began. “Of course I wanna hear his raps, but that dude has been such a creator… When I put on that flute album I was like, ‘Yo, this joint is dope to me.’” According to Common, some producers have even reached out to him offering to loop instrumentals from the project for him to rap over.

Despite being a fan of New Blue Sun, Common might have found himself missing Andre 3000’s signature storytelling skills. After all, he says that he’s still jaw-dropped by what the artist has been able to come up with over the years. “Him [André 3000] and Nas, for me, are the two that I’ll be like, ‘Damn, I wish I wrote that,’” he said. Elsewhere in the interview, he showed love to Nas for the lyricism in his 1994 Illmatic track “N.Y. State of Mind.”

“I was playing ‘New York State of Mind’ and one of the greatest lines ever written is, ‘Beyond the walls of intelligence life is defined/ I think of crime when I’m in a New York state of mind,’” he described. “That’s like poetry. “[H]e’s on my first album with two different cuts, actually did a hook for me,” Cam’ron said. “When I was young, I was real arrogant because my man Mase just sold four million records, and I’m thinking I’m supposed to sell four million records. And I don’t think I ever gave J.D. his flowers for even doing what he did for me. It meant a lot to me that you did that for me, because you invited me to your house and you didn’t have to do that.
