PARTYNEXTDOOR Drops New Single, “Her Old Friends”

It’s been nearly three years since we last got blessed with a project from PARTYNEXTDOOR.

However, it appears as though the Mississauga native is gearing up for a new full-length release. On Friday (January 13), the “Break from Toronto” singer returned to drop off his brand new single, “Her Old Friends.”

Produced by OG Parker and G Ry, the song finds PND criticizing his girl’s old friends. Specifically, he puts the blame on them for her past behavior. “F*ck all my b*tches’ old friends / Y’all let that girl f*ck anybody / She out here catchin’ every body / Told her not to lean on anybody,” he croons to kick off the song.

“B*tches when they see me, all they greet me, show me love / I’m with b*tches wearin’ VVs, flawless, they don’t f*ck with scrubs / But I just need my shawty back / Richer than I ever was,” he goes on to plead in the first verse.

The Canadian singer’s last album is 2020’s PARTYMOBILE. Backed by singles featuring Rihanna (“BELIEVE IT”) and Drake (“LOYAL”), the project contains the OVO artist’s signature R&B sound with some toxic lyrics. It also contains a remix to “LOYAL” with Bad Bunny.

Later that year, the 29-year-old also dropped PARTYPACK, a seven-song EP comprised of songs that hadn’t priorly been officially released to streaming services. It includes the fan favorite “PERSIAN RUGS,” as well as “BUZZIN” with Lil Yachty and Murda Beatz.

On January 2, OVO Sound took to their Instagram account to tease new music this year. “OVO SOUND ’22 NEW SOUND ALL ’23,” reads the caption.

The label is certainly living up to the hype thus far. Only two weeks into the new year, “Her Old Friends” serves as their second official release. The first of which is Popcaan‘s latest single “We Caa Done,” which features Drake.

Make sure to stream PARTYNEXTDOOR’s “Her Old Friends” on either Spotify or SoundCloud down below. Comment your thoughts on the new track afterwards. Finally, stay tuned to HNHH for all of the latest releases.

Quotable Lyrics:

It’s gon’ be so hard to clean back that body when I gwaan it
Yeah, I wants to take her out the game
Who’s to f*ckin’ blame? What’s my f*ckin’ name?
Yeah, I was playin’ by the rules, only let her do wrongs

Popcaan Announces New Single With Drake

OVO is jumpstarting 2023 with some breezy vibes as Popcaan plots the release of his next single.

This morning, Popcaan announced that he would be coming through on Friday with a brand-new single alongside Drake. The two will be teaming up on “We Caa Done,” due out on Jan. 6th.

It seems like both Drake and Popcaan will be setting the tone with the forthcoming effort for 2023. While Drake came through with two projects in 2022, Popcaan hasn’t dropped a solo effort since 2020’s Fixtape. The two collaborated on the singles, “ALL I NEED” and “TWIST & TURN” alongside PartyNextDoor off of the project. Prior to announcing the single, he teased a project titled, Great Is He.

Drake signed Popcaan to OVO Sound officially in 2016. Three years later, he released his debut project on the label, Vanquish. Hopefully, the release of “We Caa Done” will lead to a brand new project from the dancehall star.

The Canadian rapper’s on pace to have another major year on his hands. After releasing three projects in the span of 14 months, Drake will be hitting the stage at Harlem’s legendary Apollo Theatre later this month for back-to-back shows. The concerts were initially postponed in the wake of Takeoff’s passing before they were, once again, pushed back to 2023. The rapper will perform an intimate set at the Apollo on January 21st and 22nd, 2023.

“These upcoming shows for SiriusXM are so incredibly special for us. If you are going to play the world famous Apollo Theater, it has to be a world class production,” read a statement from Drake, SiriusXM and Sound 42. “We as a team have been working around the clock not just putting together a concert but an experience our fans deserve. With that said, we are up against some production delays that are just out of our control.”

PartyNextDoor, Majid Jordan, And Other OVO Signees’ Albums Disappear From Streaming

Something’s going on at OVO Sound. Albums from PartyNextDoor, Majid Jordan, dvsn, and Roy Woods vanished from streaming services this week for no known reason as of yet. When fans noticed, they flooded social media sites like Twitter with questions and concerns over the missing projects.

Another artist affected by this sudden pull was dvsn, although their projects are available on streaming as of writing this article. However, their album A Muse In Her Feelings isn’t available, so there’s some odd inconsistency. Meanwhile, PartyNextDoor’s output is almost completely gone, including his albums PartyNextDoor 2 and 3. Similarly, all of Majid Jordan’s albums disappeared as well. While he’s a more underrated name, Roy Woods also lost his discography on streaming to fans’ dismay.

Furthermore, the common thread tying these artists together is their label: OVO Sound. Drake signed all artists some years ago, and while Party and Roy Woods haven’t dropped in a while, dvsn just released Working On My Karma this year. Also, Majid Jordan dropped Wildest Dreams last year.

As such, many fans are furious at the disappearance, blaming either the streaming services, the label, or Drizzy himself. Maybe a new OVO-exclusive streaming service? While it’s unclear what’s exactly happening with these albums, the label connection warrants an explanation. Some even directed blame at the artists themselves.

“PARTYNEXTDOOR just removed PND. PND2 and PND3 from all platforms….” one user tweeted. “@partynextdoor you better goddamn EXPLAIN YOURSELF BECAUSE WHY?!!” While his albums are gone, features like Diddy’s recent “Sex In The Porsche” are still available.

Another fan tweeted, “@AppleMusic ya’ll have 24 hrs to put them partynextdoor albums back up or i will be making some phone calls.” Of all the reactions, anger at the services has been the most common. “PUT PARTYNEXTDOOR BACK ON APPLE MUSIC OR IM AIRING APPLE HEADQUARTERS OUT,” another user wrote.

However, many raised eyebrows at OVO. “So there’s no PARTYNEXTDOOR, Majid Jordan or DVSN on Apple Music,” a user tweeted. “But every other artist completely fine. did OVO pull the plug on them or what??”

What do you think happened with these OVO discographies on streaming? Let us know in the comments down below. Also, as always, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest updates on this mystery.
