Drake Spent An Outrageous Amount On NYC Hotel Room During Apollo Concerts

Drake had New York City on lock last weekend during his back-to-back concerts at the Apollo. The rapper pulled out all of the stops during the show. He recreated his childhood bedroom and brought out special guests like 21 Savage, Lil Uzi Vert, and Dipset

The rapper had been spotted in the city in the week leading up to the show. However, he paid a hefty amount for his stay. Per PageSix, the rapper rented out a room at one of the most expensive hotel in North America that reportedly costs $75K a night.

While Drake was in town for the highly-anticipated shows, the rapper used the opportunity to reconnect with loved ones. He rented out the members-only Casa Cruz in the Upper East Side for a party after one performance. Following the other show, he took a few friends out to eat at the Cucina Alba in Chelsea.

“He pulled out all the stops with food, drink and gifts to thank them all for their unwavering support over the years,’ an insider told the publication. “It was extremely exclusive.”

However, the Her Loss rapper’s hotel room was just as accommodating for a small group of friends as any restaurant. His $75K a night room at the Mark Hotel is the most expensive room in all of North America. The room was equipped with 10,000 square feet of space. The hotel also included five bedrooms, six bathrooms, four fireplaces, a steam room, and an expansive dining room that could host 24 people. Additionally, the balcony also boasted an incredible view.

His friends also stayed at the same hotel that weekend.

Man Involved in NYC Machete Attack Faces Murder Charges

The 19-year-old suspect accused of attacking New York police officers with a machete near Times Square on New Year’s Eve has been arrested and faces charges of attempted murder of a police officer. The formal arrest comes two days after Bickford allegedly attacked police officers at a security screening area outside Times Square amid New Year’s Eve Celebrations.

Just after 10 p.m. on Dec. 31, suspect Trevor Bickford went to the Times Square checkpoint at West 52nd Street and 8th Avenue, where officers check bags for weapons or suspicious items, NYPD Police Commissioner Keechant Sewell and police reported. This is where Bickford allegedly pulled out a machete, struck one officer with the blade before hitting another in the head with the handle, and then swung the sword at a third officer, who shot Bickford in the shoulder, according to the sources and the NYPD. The officers have been treated and released.

The Manhattan District Attorney’s office does not currently have details of when Bickford will be arraigned, and it remains unclear whether he has an attorney. NYPD announced that police are suggesting the suspect be charged with two counts of attempted murder of a police officer and two counts of attempted assault in the attack.

Furthermore, the suspect left a backpack on the street camouflaged by a pile of other bags taken from people trying to enter security checkpoints around Times Square. A diary was recovered from the suspect’s bag. The last entry, dated Dec. 31, began, “This will likely be my last entry,” and further instructs readers how to divvy up his belongings among family members. An aspiration to become a member of the Taliban is expressed in the diary alongside criticism for his brother joining the US military and his feelings towards his mother’s presumed negligence of Allah. Sources also reported on the inclusion of instructions for his burial.

“‘There was a time when we were close but that time has since passed. You have joined the ranks of my enemy. And therefore I hold hope in my heart that a piece of you believes so that you may be taken out of the hellfire.’” he wrote, according to the sources.

Before the New Year’s Eve attack, Blickford was placed on the FBI’s radar after his mother and grandmother expressed concerns about his desire to travel to Afghanistan to join the Taliban. The two women reported his behavior to the Wells, Maine, police department on Dec. 10, the sources said.

Multiple law enforcement sources reported Bickford’s interview by FBI agents in Maine in mid-December after he said he wanted to travel overseas to help fellow Muslims and was willing to die for his religion. This prompted a wider investigation, and the suspect was placed on a terrorist watch list. The Taliban is not designated a foreign terrorist entity, so planning travel to Afghanistan to join the group does not constitute the federal crime of “attempted material support of a terrorist group.”

Law enforcement sources reported that Bickford traveled to New York via Amtrak from Miami, checked in at the Grand Hotel near the Bowery in Manhattan on Dec. 29, and checked out on Dec. 31 before initiating the attack. He is currently in custody, and under police guard at Bellevue Hospital, where he is being treated for the gunshot wound, sources said.

Robert De Niro’s NYC House Burglarized While He Was Home

Police have arrested a woman for allegedly breaking into Robert De Niro’s Upper East Side townhouse, early Monday morning. A law enforcement source for CNN described her as one of the NYPD’s “most prolific recidivist burglars.”

The woman, 30-year-old Shanice Aviles, has 26 prior arrests including 16 for burglaries and petit larcenies.

Aviles broke into De Niro’s East 65th Street home at 2:45 AM. According to varying reports, she began bagging up Christmas presents under the tree, as well as using the legendary actor’s iPad. De Niro and his 10-year-old daughter slept upstairs while she did so.

Police say officers caught Aviles trying door handles of commercial establishments earlier in the night and began following her. After she turned onto De Niro’s street, they briefly lost sight of her. Officers later spotted a townhouse door open. It ended up being De Niro’s, where they found Aviles on the second floor. After arresting her, they later woke up De Niro to inform him of what was happening.

De Niro reportedly intends to press charges against Aviles.

Last week, it was announced that De Niro will star in and executive produce the upcoming crime drama, Mr. Natural. The creator, Mitch Glazer, intends the project to be a multi-season series. It would be the first regular television role for De Niro.

According to the logline, the series will be following “Louis ‘Mr. Natural’ Baron (De Niro), who, fresh off a 30-year stint in federal prison, hits Palm Springs driven by a dream to reunite with his stolen family and a dangerous scheme to grab a taste of the Salton Sea’s lithium billions. There will be blood in the sand and bones in the desert. Palm Springs will never be the same.”
