Baka Not Nice Previews New Music Following Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” Diss

Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s lyrical feud may have fizzled out for now, but evidently, its ripple effect continues to be felt throughout the industry. On Kendrick’s “Not Like Us” diss, for example, he went after Drake and his OVO Sound crew. He accused the Toronto-born performer of being interested in underage girls, and of employing predators.

“They tell me Chubbs the only one that get your hand-me-downs/ And Party at the party playin’ with his nose now/ And Baka got a weird case, why is he around?/ Certified Lover Boy? Certified pedophiles,” he rhymes. His mention of Baka Not Nice and his “weird” case captured listeners’ attention, prompting them to do some digging into the rapper’s history

Baka Not Nice In The Booth

Before signing with OVO in 2017, Baka worked for Drake as a security guard. A few years before that, he was arrested for allegedly forcing a 22-year-old woman into prostitution. In 2015, he pled guilty to assaulting the same woman, who he was reportedly in a relationship with at the time. The woman chose not to testify, so his charges for alleged prostitution were dropped. He went on to spend six months behind bars for his guilty plea.

Baka hasn’t released any solo music since 2019, however, it looks like he has some on the way. In a new clip, he’s seen cooking something up in the booth. While some social media users are eager to hear what he’s working on, others are clowning him for his arguably bad timing, though the extra attention could end up working out in his favor. What do you think Baka Not Nice is cooking up? Do you think it could be a response to Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” diss? Are you looking forward to hearing it? Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” Breaks One Of Taylor Swift’s Spotify Streaming Records

The diss tracks from Kendrick Lamar and Drake’s beef have been extraordinarily successful. Both “euphoria” and “Push Ups” have spent multiple weeks in the top 20 of the Hot 100 with the former jumping up to a new peak of number 3 this week. But that’s just the beginning of the story. This week three new songs, two from Kendrick and one from Drake all debuted inside the top 15 of the singles chart. Even within the already heightened achievements of the beef though, Kendrick’s “Not Like Us” is lapping the field.

“Not Like Us” debuted at number one on the Hot 100 and didn’t even need a full week to do it. The track grabbed the top spot with only five days of tracking its streams and plays, compared to a full seven days for most of its competition. The album is also breaking streaming records left and right. It broke Drake’s own record for the most streams of a rap song on Spotify in a single day previously held by his Lil Baby collab “Girls Want Girls.” Now the song has reached an even more impressive milestone after a full week on the platform. It’s officially the most-streamed song in any single week this decade so far, surpasing Taylor Swift and Post Malone’s “Fortnite” from earlier this year and Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s “WAP” which held the record since 2020.

Kendrick Lamar’s Diss Track Breaks Even More Records

“Not Like Us” is the second number one hit to spawn from the beef so far. The Future & Metro Boomin song “Like That” which formally kicked the beef off dropped back in March. It went on to debut at the top spot on the Hot 100 where it spent 3 weeks. The track is still inside the top 10 of the chart this week.

What do you think of Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” breaking the record for most streams in a single week by any song this decade? Are you surprise that the record was held by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s “WAP” until earlier this year? Let us know in the comment section below.

Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” Surpasses 100 Million Streams In Just 9 Days, Sets Spotify Record

Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” has surpassed 100 million streams on Spotify in under nine days, making it the fastest rap song to do so on the service. The track, which Lamar released as a diss song in his feud with Drake, beat out the Toronto rapper’s song “God’s Plan” to set the new record. Additionally, “Not Like Us” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it Lamar’s first song to do so.

Lamar calls out Drake throughout the song, at one point rapping: “Why you trollin’ like a b*tch? Ain’t you tired? Tryna strike a chord and it’s probably A-Minor.” He also calls out his OVO imprint as well. “They tell me Chubbs the only one that get your hand-me-downs / And Party at the party, playin’ with his nose now / And Baka got a weird case, why is he around? Certified Lover Boy? Certified pedophiles,” he remarks.

Kendrick Lamar’s vicious Drake diss track, “Not Like Us,” debuts at No. 1 on this week’s Billboard Hot 100. The battle between the two stars spawned no fewer than four new diss tracks in the span of a weekend, including “6:16 AM In LA,” “Family Matters,” “Meet The Grahams,” and “The Heart Part 6,” but the Mustard-produced “Not Like Us” turned out to be the true fan favorite, soundtracking a slew of social media posts of clubs turning up and people C-walking to it (which… sigh).

As the dust settles from the two rappers’ increasingly vitriolic battle, its component songs comprise much of this week’s Billboard Hot 100 top ten. “Euphoria,” Kendrick’s initial volley in the fiery war of words, lands at No. 3, while “Like That,” the warning shot Kendrick issued by Kendrick on Future and Metro Boomin’s album, rose from No. 8 to No. 6. Drake’s “Family Matters” debuts at No. 7. You can see the full top ten below.

“Not Like Us” is now Kendrick Lamar’s fourth Hot 100 No. 1. His most recent foray to the top of the chart was a month ago with “Like That,” while his previous chart toppers were 2017’s “Humble” from DAMN. and his 2015 collaboration with Taylor Swift, “Bad Blood.” The full chart for this week goes online Tuesday, May 14.

Kendrick Lamar Is No. 1 On The Billboard Hot 100 Thanks To His Scathing Drake Diss “Not Like Us”

Kendrick Lamar is one of the greatest artists of this generation. Overall, his songwriting abilities are second to none. However, fans doubted him heading into his battle with Drake. There was this sense that because he hadn’t been battle-tested, he would lose. Instead, Kendrick had a flawless strategy that left Drake completely off guard. It allowed him to win the public opinion, and it also allowed him to win the hit-making battle. No one figured Kendrick would get the biggest hit out of this beef, although he proved everyone wrong.

According to Billboard, “Not Like Us” has officially become the number one song on the Hot 100. Overall, this is the track that propelled Kendrick to a knockout victory. The DJ Mustard-produced track is infectious from an instrumental standpoint. Meanwhile, Lamar absolutely floats on this song with incredible flows and some truly scathing lyrics. It is pretty wild to have a song like this at number one, although it is a track that everyone is playing these days.

What that means for Drake moving forward, remains to be seen.
