Three Men Shot During The Production Of A Lil Baby Music Video

The production of a Lil Baby music video came to a screeching halt on May 14. According to Fox 5, a shooting broke out at the Atlanta location where the video was being filmed. Three men were shot and injured as a result. Police claim that the men were not directly involved in the music video, but may have been involved in an extracurricular capacity. “There may have been individuals involved in the totality of the production,” noted Major Ralph Woolfolk.

The shooting took place near a commercial strip on Verbena Street. It’s estimated that shots rang out at 4:50 PM on Tuesday evening, at which point two victims were visibly struck. The first was a 24-year-old man who was shot in the arm, and the second was a 27-year-old man who was shot in the back. Police later discovered a third victim, a 23-year-old-man, who was shot in the neck. They did not immediately see him on the scene because the man drove himself to the hospital first. All three victims are currently listed as “alert, conscious, and breathing.”

Lil Baby Was Not Harmed In The Shooting

Police were initially hesitant to confirm the identity of the rapper who was shooting the music video, but it was quickly determined that it was indeed Lil Baby. The rapper was spotted near the set shortly before the shooting broke out. He was also captured on the Instagram Story of a local woman. The Shade Room confirmed that Lil Baby was unharmed. A spokesperson for the “Yes Indeed” hitmaker stated that neither Lil Baby nor his production team were involved in the shooting. More details to come.

This is not the first time Lil Baby has been indirectly tied to a shooting. A man named Kevin Young was arrested for firing a gun during the rapper’s 2023 concert in Memphis. The incident led to the concert being cut short, and Lil Baby was rushed off stage by his security team. Only one person was wounded as a result of Young’s actions, but he was subsequently treated at a nearby hospital.

Kamaiyah Reveals Release Date For New Album “Figuring Out My Emotions”

Kamaiyah isn’t here to be complacent. The Oakland rapper drops multiple times a year because she wants to hone her craft and ensure that fans are up to date with her life. It’s worked wonders. She’s amassed a loyal fanbase over the last decade, and her last album, Another Summer Night, earned positive reviews from critics. Kamaiyah looks to keep the winning streak going strong with her new album, Figuring Out My Emotions.

Figuring Out My Emotions is a more intimate collection of songs than its predecessor, as the title might suggest. The album is executive produced by Kamaiyah, and the lead single, “No Pressure,” delves into more serious subject matter while maintaining a slick, Bay Area sound. The rapper confirmed the rest of the album will drop on Friday, May 17. She also dropped off the artwork and tracklist. The former is right in line with the chilled-out vibe of the aforementioned single. Kamaiyah lays down on a dock near a body of water. No text or logos. Just an artist and the ocean.

Kamaiyah’s New Album Drops On May 17

The tracklist is impressively brief. Another Summer Night was a sprawling album with 17 songs, but Figuring Out My Emotions comes in at a tight eight. There are no listed features on the album. That being said, rap artists like to hide their features until the fans get a chance to listen. Kamaiyah usually reserves a spot for West Coast peers like 03 Greedo or Jay Worthy (both of whom appeared on Another Summer Night).

Kamaiyah explained her approach to dropping during a recent interview with KQED. “It’s not the ’90s or early 2000s, like, nobody is catching a hit that lasts for a f*cking year anymore,” she asserted. “People’s attention spans are so short. If you got the attention, keep it. And only way you keep it is more sh*t in their face. It’s got to be organic.”

Figuring Out My Emotions tracklist:

  1. Be Mine
  2. Can’t Lose
  3. DND
  4. Link Wit Me
  5. One & Only
  6. No Pressure
  7. Success
  8. Winter Blues

Snoop Dogg Reveals Tragedy That Inspired New Dogg Pound Album

Tha Dogg Pound was a legendary part of Death Row Records. While they lacked the crossover success of 2Pac or Dr. Dre, the duo anchored the label’s catalog with hits like “Let’s Play House” and “New York, New York.” The latter was a diss song with a Snoop Dogg chorus. The collab led to the formation of the DPGC, or Dogg Pound Gangsta Clicc, which has dropped multiple albums over the last three decades. Snoop Dogg thought DPGC was done a few years back, but personal events led to a reunion that he’s subsequently been grateful for.

Snoop Dogg talked about the Dogg Pound reunion during a recent appearance on Home Grown Radio. The rapper admitted that he’d been on the outs with Dogg Pound co-founder Daz Dillinger, and therefore reluctant to work with him. It’s worth noting that Snoop and Daz are cousins, so the rift went beyond the studio. It was ultimately the death of Snoop’s brother, Bing Worthington, that led to the two men setting their issues aside. “My little brother had passed away,” the rapper said. “And one thing about my little brother is he loved the f*ck outta Daz. He loved us together.”

The Death Of Snoop Dogg’s Brother Inspired The Reunion

Snoop Dogg decided that he wanted to honor Bing by putting out new music as a family. “I started calling family members,” he noted. “I reached out them, I was like ‘Y’all get Daz’. Me and him get on the line, we communicate, and I’m like ‘Come over and see me.’” Snoop and Daz reconciled, and then called Dogg Pound’s other co-founder, Kurupt. One thing led to another, and suddenly, the group was making music again. The concept of reconciliation informed the title of the new album, W.A.W.G., which stands for We All We Got.

The lead single for the album addressed the issues that Dogg Pound’s members have been going through. It also set the record straight on their future plans. Namely, that they aren’t going anywhere. “Smoke Up” sees Snoop Dogg, Daz Dillinger and Kurupt come together as a unified force. “F*ck what you heard,” Snoop raps. “Somebody said the Dogg Pound broke up/ Shut yo b*tch a*s up, n**ga, now smoke up.” W.A.W.G. is due out May 31.

The Game Appears To Troll Meek Mill Amidst Rick Ross Battle

Is Meek Mill the biggest punching bag in hip-hop? Drake has been through the ringer in 2024, and had to single-handedly battle half the industry, but at least the Toronto rapper commands respect. People think Drake is a serious artist, even if the consensus is that he lost to Kendrick Lamar. Meek Mill, on the other hand, is afforded no such respect. The Philly rapper has become low-hanging fruit for fans and rappers alike. It’s easy to see why. He posts bizarre videos of himself, and has questionable affiliations with the likes of Diddy. Now, he has to deal with smoke from The Game.

Meek Mill posted a photo of himself on Instagram May 14, and fans clowned it. Nothing new there. The unexpected wrinkle was a comment from The Game. He simply typed “life is good” under the post, but fans know that the Compton rapper does everything with an ulterior motive. He’s “harmlessly” trolling a rapper on social media, then the next thing we know, he’s dropping an aggressive diss track against him. Those looking for proof can literally refer to a week ago, when The Game went at Meek Mill’s MMG boss Rick Ross.

The Game Poked Fun At Meek Mill On Instagram

Game has been dying to battle somebody in 2024. Few rappers want smoke more than the Compton hitmaker, and Rick Ross apparently drew the short straw. (It’s probably because he put out a Drake diss, but we’ll likely never know for sure.) He poked fun at Rozay’s weight on Instagram, then he dropped the diss track “Freeway’s Revenge.” Ross has responded to the diss on social media, but he more or less laughed it off. He claimed The Game was “starving” and hasn’t bothered recording a response.

To further support the theory that Game is targeting Meek Mill, the rappers have had beef before. The Game called Meek a “snitch” during his “92 Bars” diss, and Meek responded with a verse on the remix to “OOOUUU.” The Game went as far as to challenge Meek to a fistfight during a 2015 concert in Miami. It all came to a screeching halt when Meek was locked up the following year.

The two men reportedly put an end to their beef, and have been on solid terms ever since. If Game is looking to clout chase, though, Meek is a prime option for a low-level, low-risk beef. Time will tell if Game’s comment lead somewhere.

DJ Akademiks Claims He Killed Meek Mill’s Career During Explosive Rant

DJ Akademiks is having a bad week. The internet personality was sued for rape and defamation on May 14. He’s denied these charges adamantly, but social media already had a target painted on his back and criticized him relentlessly. Meek Mill shared his thoughts via X (formerly Twitter), calling Akademiks out for reporting on the bad behavior of rappers while allegedly committing similar acts. This proved to be the straw that broke the camel’s back. Ak went nuclear on the Philadelphia rapper during his evening Twitch stream.

The internet personality did not hold back on Meek Mill. He not only claimed Meek is washed up, but confirmed that he enjoys seeing the rapper’s new music repeatedly brick. “If I see you at the top of the charts, trust me I’m having a bad day,” Akademiks said. “I laugh, I have a good time, I have my feet kicked up, I j*ck off to the fact that your career is six feet under.” He goes as far as to say that he played a role in killing Meek’s career. “Your career ain’t coming back,” he added. “I killed it. Drake killed it. Game killed it.”

DJ Akademiks Dubs Meek Mill A “Weirdo”

DJ Akademiks referenced an incident in which Meek Mill slighted him a decade ago, and claimed the rapper should have thought twice about disrespecting him. “Any car you can get I can get, n**ga,” he asserted. “Any house you can get, I can get. I got the same money, whatchu talking about… You should have respect.”

It didn’t stop there. DJ Akademiks gave an explanation as to why he despises Meek, then he revealed information about the Philly rapper. He claimed Meek made a big deal out of unfollowing him on X, but continued to follow other people in Ak’s life. “You blocked me and followed my exes, you’re a weirdo,” he stated. “Remember, you said you had b*tches that had more followers than me.” Ak went on to claim that he took $1 million out of Meek’s label budget because of how hard he fell off, but that Meek could never do something like that to him.

The final blow during the Twitch stream was DJ Akademiks referencing to the line from Drake’s “Back to Back.” He took Drizzy’s line about Meek’s “Twitter fingers” and announced that the platform is where the rapper is going to spend the rest of his career. “You really gonna be on Twitter for the rest of ya f*cking life,” he shouted at the screen. “Say goodbye to the charts.” Akademiks has plenty of problems at the moment, but if there’s one thing fans can’t question, it’s his hatred of Meek Mill.

NLE Choppa’s Parents Join Him On Stage For Performance Of Extremely NSFW Song

NLE Choppa is in a definitive new era. He’s never been one to hold back from his eccentricities and he’s leaning further into them than ever before. Last month he dropped the new song “SLUT ME OUT 2” which is expectedly a sequel to his hit song “SLUT ME OUT” from last year. The raunchy number is packed full of incredibly NSFW lyrics and sees Choppa leaning into his sexuality. He’s also done that throughout the promotional tactics for the new single. They were highlighted by a rubber duck-themed bathtub shoot where he mimicked a classic Tupac photo.

In a recent video he shared to TikTok he showed off a performance of the song that had some very surprising special guests. Choppa took to the stage to play the incredibly raunchy track alongside his parents. Despite the awkward contrast of the situation, fans in the comments are surprisingly supportive. “Love they support his craziness 💚” one of the top comments on the post reads. “The Parental approval just made me like the song even more😩😍😂” another fan observes. The song also got its own music video earlier this week. Choppa didn’t just use the video to accompany the song but also to show off his brand new signature duck shoes. Ghostface Killah On Kendrick Lamar Collab: “I Ain’t Take Him Lightly”

Ghostface Killah is a legend in any time period. He’s dominated other artists for over three decades, and he’s gone head-to-head with the likes of Biggie and Nas. Ghost’s reputation is bulletproof (insert wallets joke here), which would probably intimidate any rapper who attempted to collaborate with him. Kendrick Lamar is the exception to the rule, apparently. Ghostface Killah talked about his 2022 song with Lamar, “Purple Hearts,” and how impressed he was with the latter’s work ethic. He was so impressed, in fact, that he upped his game.

Ghostface recounted the collab during a recent appearance on the Juan Epstein podcast. He was asked about the Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar (because everybody is these days), and he redirected the convo to “Purple Hearts.” The Wu-Tang rapper was “honored” to contribute to Lamar’s double album, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers. “He put his call in and it was like, ‘Yo, okay. This is one of them names,’” he recalled. “I ain’t take him lightly because his wordplay, his style, y’know what I mean? Now, I just gotta do what I feel.”

Ghostface Killah Recorded A Back-Up Verse For K. Dot

Ghostface knew that he couldn’t phone in a verse, however. He put down his bars for “Purple Hearts,” then decided to write and record a second verse just in case. He wanted to make sure Lamar was happy with the final product, so he gave him multiple options. “[These young guys] can really, really rhyme,” he explained. “That’s why when I did the record with Kendrick, it was like, ‘Okay… I sat with it and was like — I sent him two verses. I sent him a ‘just in case’ one. Like, ‘N**ga, if that don’t go, this one [will].’”

This isn’t the first time Ghostface Killah has praised the Compton rapper. During a 2022 interview with Billboard, Ghost gave Kendrick Lamar his flowers and singled him out as one of the best of his generation along with J. Cole. “For a lot these [fans] in the younger generation, [their favorite], it’s either Kendrick or J. Cole,” he noted. “I gave him his praises, and he boomeranged that sh*t back.” This was well before the Big Three battle, but it’s safe to assume Ghost’s high opinion of Lamar is even higher now. The rapper’s victory has even led to Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers re-entering the Billboard 200.
