Cochise Keeps Perfecting Hype Ear Candy With New Single “YOSHIMITSU”: Stream

Cochise previously kicked off his 2024 with his feature on the Lyrical Lemonade album cut “First Night,” and he’s following up on that quickly with a much-teased and much-anticipated single. Moreover, this new song “YOSHIMITSU” is exactly what fans expect from him: a bubbly, charismatic, synth-led, repetitive, and above all fun banger. It’s a formula and approach that the Florida rapper’s been perfecting ever since his massive break with the $NOT-assisted “Tell Em.” Add on top of that a lot of social media savvy, an engaging and beloved personality, and complete melodic focus with his work, and you have a recipe that could feed families of young rap fans for years.

Furthermore, Cochise is also know for being very prolific and actively engaged when it comes to releasing and promoting new music. For example, last year, two of his final 2023 singles came out just a couple of weeks apart, those being “LUKAKU” and “HOP IN THE WHIP.” Even though the 25-year-old drops a lot and doesn’t really switch up his style too often, it’s clear that he has enough quality control, good sonic instincts, and talent to turn his hedonistic flexes into pretty distinct cuts. One interesting metric he reflects in this writer’s eyes is that, if you’re a new listener, any one of his cuts could be the perfect introduction to his style. That’s a pretty hard thing to even conceptualize and aim for in one’s music, so props are in order for creating that balance.

Quadeca & Kevin Abstract Craft Grand & Tender Magic On New Single “TEXAS BLUE”: Stream

One of the most exciting things about contemporary hip-hop is the widening of opportunities for artists to pull from whichever style they wish and not be so beholden to sticking to their rap roots. Of all examples of this in 2024, Quadeca is not only one of the most exciting, but among the most established. The 23-year-old started out as a rap and soccer YouTuber, moved into Internet rap lyrical miracles, and is now making the type of critically acclaimed fusions that could only be described by pretentious genre mashes. The bottom line is that Quad’s been making music for years now, and his 2022 album I Didn’t Mean To Haunt You was his most unique, compelling, boundary-pushing, and definitive effort yet.

Now, he just dropped the full version of his mixtape SCRAPYARD after already releasing three of its five mini-divisions in 2023. In fact, if you’ve never heard of Quadeca before, this album is a great balancing act of his very personal, often cheeky, but always raw writing approach, his eclectic and versatile rap flows, and his wider sonic influences from hip-hop’s many styles, lo-fi indie, chamber pop, industrial, folk of all kinds, and so much more. As a taster, look no further than the Los Angeles native’s collaboration with former BROCKHAMPTON mastermind Kevin Abstract on “TEXAS BLUE.” If you liked Kevin’s last album Blanket, then this new offering is right up your alley.

Quadeca’s “TEXAS BLUE” With Kevin Abstract: Stream

There are a lot of production and songwriting elements to this song, but the most salient of these might be the looping, showtime-esque piano that kicks us off all the way to the fade-out. Quadeca builds on Kevin Abstract’s vocals (which dominate much of the lyrics here) with haunting harmonies, rustic percussion, gorgeous string arrangements, and many other embellishments like sudden hits of noise and guitar tones hanging in the back. While it’s definitely more of a ballad, the quick verses and blunt lyrical treatment of its romantically struggled theme do evoke some of the impactful writing and deliveries that they excel with in their rap material. However, what really sets “TEXAS BLUE” apart is how well it structurally comes together in such a gorgeous, weighty, progressive, but still catchy way.

If you couldn’t tell already, there’s a lot to love about Quadeca’s music, and we guarantee you’ll like the rest of SCRAPYARD even more. Whether you’re a fan of the most accessible sounds of the genre or its most experimental corners, it’s an impressive listen that turns so many influences into something completely new. If you haven’t heard it, or “TEXAS BLUE” with Kevin Abstract, find it on your preferred streaming service and check out some notable lines down below. As always, check back in with HNHH for more great music releases around the clock.

Yeat & Drake Team Up Again On New Single “As We Speak”: Stream

Yeat’s new album 2093 is out now, and we didn’t even experience a full day with it before he revealed more tricks up his sleeve. Moreover, he announced that he would drop another song for the project: “As We Speak” with none other than his “IDGAF” collaborator, Drake. Just like with that last link-up, this song starts with a dramatic instrumental, presumably a sample, before getting into the Portland rapper’s performance. Paired with grand pianos, buzzy synths, and then with distorted and heavy percussion, this makes for an unsurprisingly futuristic and unique sonic pallet. In fact, one could argue that this is probably the most unique and out-of-the-box instrumental that Aubrey Graham has rapped on… maybe ever?

That’s a debate for another day, but for now, there’s a lot to admire and appreciate about “As We Speak.” Lyrically, it’s a lot of cheeky and charismatic flexing from both MCs, and their deliveries and flows match well while defining their individual artistic approaches. Yeat is able to captivate our ears with his delivery and ad-libs, whereas Drake comes through with a more traditional flow that still does well over this more industrial beat. It’s a lane that he had never really tapped into like this, and for that alone, this is one of the most exciting songs either artist has put out as of late. It’s a similar approach to that of other features on 2093, such as Lil Wayne on “Lyfestyle,” and one that really resonates as a fresh and boundary-pushing track.

Conway The Machine, Westside Gunn, & The Alchemist Release Their Physical Copy Exclusive “Halal”

You would be hard pressed to find another rapper who had a more productive and successful 2023 than Conway the Machine. There are a lot of artists that constantly have new music ready, but not many can top the quality of the Griselda affiliate. It was especially incredible to see how the Buffalo native was able to squeak out two records within the last week of 2023. One of those two records was Hall & Nash 2 with Westside Gunn and The Alchemist. It was a nine-song tape; that is if you bought a physical copy. If you did you would be able to hear Conway the Machine on “Halal.”

Additionally, if you were able to snag either a vinyl or CD of the record, the album cover was different. You can see the alternate work up above. Now, everyone can hear this bonus track, as it is currently on YouTube. Conway kicks off “Halal” with signature crackly and gravelly flows.

Yung Lean Continues His Streak Of Odd Collaborations On “SPIRIT OF THUNDER”

Yung Lean has never really been your typical rapper. The Swedish-born talent likes to mix elements of all sorts of genres together to create something truly unique. Of course, he is known best for his cloud rap roots. But, do not disqualify what he can do outside of that lane. He is someone who deserves all the respect for being a pioneer and a game changer. Today, Yung Lean is back to serve up a new single called “SPIRIT OF THUNDER.”

It does not just have him on it though. If you caught our last Yung Lean song post, “Violent Lullaby,” he worked with someone else. However, hearing him and BLP KOSHER on the same track was not something that people might have had on their bingo card. But, it went over well and fans were in agreement.

Listen To “SPIRIT OF THUNDER” By Yung Lean, RiFF RAFF, DVRST, & Bladee

We think it is safe to say hearing Lean and RiFF RAFF on the same song was on that card either. But again, like the KOSHER collab, this one sounds pretty good too. “SPIRIT OF THUNDER” sees RAFF sing instead of rap too. While it is not the best vocal work it does the job. Bladee, a frequent collaborator of Yung Lean, joins in. The beat is handled by DVRST, someone who thrives in the phonk subgenre of hip-hop that includes lo-fi sounds. It is very futuristic and soothing and we encourage you to at least give it a try.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “SPIRIT OF THUNDER,” by Yung Lean, RiFF RAFF, DVRST, and Bladee? Should these two rappers collaborate more often after hearing this? Does Lean deserve more credit for being a influential artist? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Lola Brooke Teams Up Drill Collective 41 For Explosive “Becky”

Lola Brooke and 41 are some of the more exciting faces we have in New York rap and drill today. While they all bring that typical shouty and aggressive flow that you are accustomed to hearing in this kind of music, they sound unique. Lola is coming off a big 2023 as the 30-year-old dropped her debut album Dennis Daughter. It had features from Coi Leray, French Montana, Bryson Tiller, Latto, Yung Miami, and Nija. Brooke has that gritty and tough personality similar to Cardi B and Pop Smoke. She has a deep and rumbling voice that commands your attention at all times. On the drill side of things, 41 arguably has the most momentum right now.

So, what better way to capitalize on all of this success than to work together on a new track. “Becky” marks their first song and it does not disappoint. The “gimmie dat beckyyy” on the Lola Brooke chorus is so infectious and fun. She does very well on the drill beat and we could see her doing more with this subgenre in the future.

G Herbo Has A Fan-Favorite With “Get In Wit Me (Freestyle)”

G Herbo is currently dealing with the repercussions of wire fraud conspiracy and another count of making false statements to a federal official. The gritty Chicago rapper is in the midst of serving three years of probation. While it is not an ideal situation, he is “taking accountability” for his actions. “But you know just staying alone, staying the course, and a lot of money for sure. You feel what I’m saying? A lot of money to stay free. At the end of the day, I was taking accountability for a minor role in some s***,” he told Drink Champs.

To help get through this, Herbo is dropping some new music. Part of that output is the new freestyle below called “Get In Wit Me.” He also dropped a Valentine’s Day-themed single “My Baby.” Both of them are available on YouTube only.

“Get In Wit Me” continues to pick up a lot of traction amongst G Herbo’s fan base. It is already up to over 957,000 views, good enough for number eight on trending for music page. This is an interpolation of sorts of Bossman DLow’s song of the same name. That track is also blowing up on the same platform with over 750,000 plays and number two on trending. While this is a great look for G Herbo, he is not going to be stopping there in 2024. He revealed to TMZ that a mixtape called Best Rapper Alive is in the works.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “Get In Wit Me (Freestyle),” by G Herbo? Do you think this will land on his upcoming mixtape Best Rapper Alive? Tierra Whack Drops Somber “27 CLUB” Ahead Of Her Debut Album

Tierra Whack is one of the most bubbly and entertaining voices in hip-hop period. Her style and approach to the creation of music is truly one of a kind. It is part of the reason why fans are so pumped for her to finally drop her first true album. She does have Whack World from 2018. However, almost every single track was at demo length and it came across as more of an EP.

Listeners can expect WORLD WIDE WHACK on March 15 and there are two songs that have spawned ahead of and during the rollout. 2023’s “Chanel Pit” is one that may or may not land on it, but Genius says otherwise. “SHOWER SONG” is a definite for the tracklist. While it is a simple song at its core, it still embraces Tierra Whack’s uniqueness.

Listen To “27 CLUB” By Tierra Whack

It is a song literally about why she loves to shower. It is a total far cry from what “27 CLUB” is all about. Tierra shows off her range both emotionally and vocally. The soft and twinkly production, along with the drum patterns that reappear every once in a while, set the tone for the theme. It is a sad and lonely cut about ending it all yourself. Like we said, totally different than the happy-go-lucky attitude of “SHOWER SONG.”

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “27 Club,” by Tierra Whack? Is this the best song from the upcoming album WORLD WIDE WHACK? Will this be the strongest release by any female rapper for 2024? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Conway The Machine & Joey Bada$$ Go The Distance On “Vertino”

It seems like Conway the Machine always has a new track, EP, or album out every Friday. To some that can be very annoying. The reason why is because his voice and messages in his songs can get stale very quick. However, the Buffalo native always finds a way to keep things interesting even with the frequent release pace. That can be said about Conway the Machine’s brand-new single “Vertino.”

He grabs Joey Bada$$ for this one and both sound great over this dark boom-bap instrumental. The beat is not anything we have not heard Conway on before. But, it just sounds good. Especially at the very end when the grimy guitar loop rolls in. Both New Yorkers rap extensive verses while Joey handles the chorus.

This is the second single that will eventually be on Conway’s upcoming project WON’T HE DO IT: Side B. Of course, this is a sequel of sorts to one of his many 2023 releases, WON’T HE DO IT. We got our first taste of it a couple of weeks ago with the song “Give & Give” with production credits from Cool & Dre. That was paired with another track “Mutty,” in a two for one situation.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “Vertino,” by Conway the Machine and Joey Bada$$? Does this song get you excited for Conway’s upcoming record WON’T HE DO IT: Side B, why or why not? Is this the better of the two tracks to be on the project? Lil Tjay Is Keeping His Eyes On The Prize With “Good Life”

New York rapper and auto-crooner Lil Tjay is someone who like to stay true to his style. He likes to melodically rap over glistening trap beats most of the time. Tjay also likes to thrown in piano loops into his mixes as well. Just listen to his previous single “Told Ya.” Today, Lil Tjay is following that up with a similar vibe on “Good Life.”

The 22-year-old’s last two songs have been more deeper songs that have a theme of resiliency. This is nothing new for Lil Tjay, but he usually delivers some passable material. “Good Life” is another one of those instances. The chorus, which you can see below, is a telling sign of what the verses will be focusing on.

On top of the piano weaving in and out we mentioned, there are also some slight guitar strings being plucked. Both complement the bars that Tjay is providing about making the smart decisions to live a “Good Life.” There are also some violent threats thrown in too. “Switches, them buttons right here, got them things on us / How you feelin’? Come pull up and bang on us.” All in all, it is another solid listen. His fans are certainly loving it on YouTube right now with over 784,000 views.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “Good Life,” by Lil Tjay? Should he drop a project this year after hearing his two recent tracks?
