Russ Is Looking To Bury His Inner Demons On “In The Dirt”

Russ is the definition of a grinder. The Secaucus, New Jersey born rapper and singer is someone we talk about quite often here on the HNHH site because of his all gas and no brakes mentality. You can almost always count on him to drop a single at least once a month, sometimes twice, and a project of some sort every year. Russ could not go the entirety of February without giving us something, so he is here with “In The Dirt.”

His last effort “Drives” was about a relationship that was all sorts of complicated and messy. While it shows how versatile Russ is topically, it just did not work for us. However, “In The Dirt” is more or less a return to form for the Georgia resident. He gets back into his speedier rapping back and the message feels more profound here.

Listen To “In The Dirt” By Russ

Russ is dealing with some mental stability while having a hard time controlling his life. In the opening lines he explains, “But uh, I had to get my head right, man, for real, for real / Take back control (Yeah) / I don’t think a lot of us realize the negative patterns that we get ourselves into, and uh / We’re the only ones that can pull ourselves out, you feel me?” That theme carries out the rest of the way and it leads to some simple yet effective writing.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “In The Dirt,” by Russ? Is this the stronger of the two recent songs, why or why not? Is this the best song he has put out in 2024, why or why not? Should he drop a new album this year? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Quotable Lyrics:

Victory’s subjеctive in this game, it’s a f****n’ contest
Everybody’s brainwashed, we ain’t on the same time but look up at the same clock
Different destinations, but we get off at the same stop
Everyone confused, we don’t know how we ended up where we at
But we refuse to take accountability for the mindset that we choose
We forgot to lock the door, the devil’s takin’ off his shoes

Central Cee Goes Full R&B On “I Will”

Central Cee was one of the handful of talents from the UK who really helped the country represent itself well in 2023. While the West Londoner did not drop a project, his singles and features speak for themselves. From working with the biggest artists like Drake, Pink Pantheress, The Kid LAROI, and Dave, to getting an XXL Freshman bid, he really came into his own. Now, to open up 2024 Central Cee is bringing his first track called “I Will.”

However, this is not your typical UK drill Cee that you have become accustomed to. “I Will” sees him take a journey over the R&B genre for a song about giving a promiscuous woman a chance after meeting her at a night club. He raps on this one still but with a more low-key and slower delivery. Some of the lyrics are a little too much though.

You got your c***hie shaved just in case you find the right male / Said your body count’s twelve, but your p***y tight still.” The beat is also a little to generic, but at least Central Cee is exploring different lanes. His year is far from over though, as according to Uproxx, he is nominated for four categories at the BRIT Awards. Those include Hip-Hop/Grime/Rap Act, Song Of The Year for “Sprinter” and “Let Go,” as well as Artist Of The Year.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “I Will,” by Central Cee? Do you like him going into an R&B direction? Is he the hottest UK rapper going right now, why or why not? Do you want to hear a new album from him this year? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Go and drop that bomb and watch that s*** go up in flames
You make me feel young again, I don’t wanna grow up
I don’t even know her, f*** until my d**k don’t go up
Movin’ your waist, we pick up the pace, I make that s*** go slower
Just give me the date and pick a place and go pack the Rimowa
We can go to Phuket, if you f*** with this

Quavo Labels Himself As “Himothy” On Latest Single

While the Migos are not really together anymore, Quavo and Offset and trying to carry the torch by going solo. Last year, both dropped their sophomore LPs with Quavo going first with his tribute to Takeoff, Rocket Power. Then, a month later, Offset would follow that offering up with SET IT OFF. Both did well amongst the fans and now Quavo is looking to have another solid year in 2024 with “Himothy.”

While he was taken off Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign’s “FUK SUMN” to the fans dismay, he did still land on VULTURES 1 with “PAPERWORK.” After that Quavo and Travis Scott were getting the fans amped after they teased a new collaboration together at a Super Bowl bonanza. Hopefully, this is a sign of Huncho Jack, Jack Huncho‘s sequel. In the meantime, Quavo is here with a new solo release “Himothy.”

“Himothy” is a popular term with the Generation Alpha kids. It de when you feel like you are really good at something. That is how Quavo is feeling when it comes to how successful he is in the rap game. He does bring a lot of energy to the track. However, there is a message in the lyrics to take note of. It appears that he presumably wants the media and others in general, to drop anything surrounding Takeoff. Unfortunately for Quavo, that might not ever happen, especially with social media. But for what it is worth, HNHH continues to send our best wishes to the Migos and their closest family and friends.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “Himothy,” by Quavo? Is this his best solo single in the last year or so, why or why not? Does he need to drop another solo album this year? Lil Yachty Channels Playboi Carti On “Something Ether”

There are not many other artists in hip-hop right now doing it better than Lil Yachty in this time frame. For the past year and change Lil Boat has been a torrent run trying out a bevy of soundscapes within rap and even outside it. He basically hit the reset button at the beginning of 2023 and has not looked back since. This Friday is another busy one for the Georgia native as he is back with yet another single as well as a feature. Lil Yachty can be found on the deluxe version of Kid Cudi’s INSANO (NITRO MEGA) and on his own with “Something Ether.”

Something that has been really fun to see unfold for the 26-year-old is the improvement in lyricism. We saw this in spades on tracks like the J. Cole-assisted “The Secret Recipe,” and his most recent effort, “A Cold Sunday.” The beats were also fitting for those tracks, going lighter on the bass and drums. But with “Something Ether,” Yachty is going back to his previous trap-focused era in a way.

Listen To “Something Ether” By Lil Yachty

We say “in a way” because this song sounds like something that Playboi Carti was cooking up during his vamp era. This high-octane track is produced by the ever-so-talented Cardo. It sounds incredibly futuristic and definitely has a little bit of rage inspiration. Even Yachty’s “What” adlibs sounds like Carti’s. Still though, this outing is still a worthwhile addition to his hot streak of singles. Which makes sense considering ether is a flammable substance. You can check out the strobe-tastic music video above.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “Something Ether,” by Lil Yachty? Is this the best single in 2024 so far, why or why not? Do you like Yachty going in the rage music direction? I’m too rich, I can buy out the mayor (Pop it)

‘Cause these n****s ain’t on nothin’ (What?)
Nothin’ (What, what?)

Wiz Khalifa Tries Something Different With “Bobbi Kush”

Wiz Khalifa is easily one of the most beloved artists from the mixtape era. Overall, his mixtape run is legendary, and he has some massive songs to back it all up. His fanbase has remained loyal and although his recent albums haven’t made massive impacts, he remains a pop culture fixture. When you have a song like “See You Again” with Charlie Puth, you’re going to remain relevant for a very long time. That said, Wiz continues to put out music, and he does as he pleases, regardless of what people say.

For instance, he has dropped a few freestyles as of late that hasn’t exactly gotten the reception he probably would have been hoping for. However, he is still doing his thing right now, and that is certainly admirable. For instance, he just dropped off a new song called “Bobbi Kush.” Wiz will drop new music out of nowhere, and that was certainly the case with this new track. Below, you can listen to the song, as well as consume the new visual that is going along with it.

Wiz Khalifa Is Still Doing His Thing

Ultimately, the track has a different sound than what we are used to from Wiz. It seems like he has been listening to more underground music these days which is influencing his direction. There is a different energy being exuded here, and it is most definitely an experiment. Whether or not he stays the course with this, remains to be seen.

Let us know what you think of the new Wiz Khalifa track, in the comments section down below. Are you a fan of the new direction that Wiz is going in? J. Cole Posts Tour Vlog After Dropping New Song On Instagram

J. Cole is back and possibly better than ever, because his new recently teased song as part of the Might Delete Later series is building up to his next album The Fall Off in a big way. Moreover, he just uploaded a near-ten-minute vlog to commemorate this, marked as the first volume in this MDL series. The Dreamville MC includes the black-and-white snippet of the aforementioned unreleased cut, plus some other hints and snippets throughout. The footage centers around a lot of studio time with his peers and collaborators, some moments from his Big As The What? tour with Drake, and some general behind-the-scenes shenanigans and curious details.

Of course, fans of the North Carolina legend are as ecstatic as they’ve ever been for his next move. It seems like it’s been a long time since he delivered with new material, and looking at his last studio album (2021’s The Off-Season), this definitely suggests that. But add onto that two phenomenal years when it comes to feature appearances in 2022 and 2023, and J. Cole is still on top of the world. Not only that, but with more unorthodox collaborations and a refined perspective on the game, people still look forward to his hungry pen like we’re back in 2013 again.

J. Cole’s Might Delete Later Vlog: Watch

Not only that, but the cheekier moments on this Might Delete Later vlog also point to the “Immortal” lyricist’s sense of humor. In fact, many fans wondered how this would manifest amid rumors of a team-up with Metro Boomin for future material. The producer’s old tweets about J. Cole are less than flattering, and some social media users joked about how awkward or apologetic that conversation might be. But they’ve both grown so much as artists and as people that it’s honestly impossible to theorize.

Meanwhile, as the 39-year-old and Drake continue to have a ball on the road, we can probably expect many more vlogs like these in the future. What did you think about this peek behind the curtain? However you may feel about this and the rollout as a whole, drop your thoughts in the comments down below. Also, keep checking in with HNHH for the latest news and more updates on J. Cole.

Erick The Architect & James Blake Are The “Wonder Twins” On “2-3 Zone”

Erick the Architect has us buzzing about his upcoming debut album, I’ve Never Been Here Before. It is due to release on February 23 and all of the singles have been interesting and extremely worthwhile listens. About a fourth of the 16 tracks have been released ahead of the LP to be exact. Erick is back to share the now sixth teaser with “2-3 Zone.”

On almost all of the samplers, Erick has brought on some incredible guests to add extra hype. Joey Bada$$, WESTSIDE BOOGIE, and George Clinton are just a few to name. For “2-3 Zone” though, the Flatbush Zombies member might have just recruited the biggest one of them all. James Blake is the credited producer for the last single.

Listen To “2-3 Zone” By Erick The Architect & James Blake

Believe it or not, this is the second time we have seen both artists on one production. The first effort with James and Erick came all the way back in 2020 for “I Keep Calling.” It was a track for the frequent hip-hop crossover specialist’s four track EP. Erick was in the production seat for that one, so this is a bit of a role reversal moment. Erick brings perhaps his stickiest melody to “2-3 Zone” and it looks like it could be the best in a plethora of standout tracks.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “2-3 Zone,” by Erick the Architect and James Blake? Is this the best single from I’ve Never Been Here Before, why or why not? Does this have a chance to be an album of the year candidate? Is Erick the best Flatbush Zombies member? Do you need to hear more from these two? MGK Reveals Painful Truths About His Life On “Don’t Let Me Go”

Cleveland rapper and singer mgk has forayed more into the realms of emo, pop punk, and alternative rock over the last couple of years. He was formerly recognized as a pure rapper, but he wanted to explore his options elsewhere. It paid dividends for him as mgk’s new style has spawned a handful of successful records like Tickets To My Downfall. However, with this new single “dont let me go,” he is rapping atop a piano-laced instrumental.

This emotional backdrop sets the tone early for the personal content of the song. “dont let me go” is also mgk’s first single of the year.
