Maino & Young Thug Team Up For New Single, “Poetry”

Last week, Maino came through with a new track alongside Young Thug, “Poetry.” The melodic single, which arrived alongside a fun accompanying music video, sees the duo spit about making money, clashing with competitors, and more. It follows the release of the deluxe edition of Maino’s 2023 album K.O.B. 4, which he unveiled in January of this year. It also follows the release of various collabs and a full-length album from Young Thug, Business Is Business, which he dropped in June of last year from prison.

It’s unclear exactly when the music video for “Poetry” was shot, however, Young Thug’s major role in it suggests that it was prior to his incarceration. The rapper was arrested in May 2022 on RICO charges and has remained behind bars ever since. He’s been on trial fighting for his freedom since November. Countless fans and peers, including Maino, continue to call for his release.

Maino & Young Thug Star In New “Poetry” Music Video

As for Maino, the NYC-born performer recently celebrated getting his own holiday. He thanked Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso on Instagram earlier this week, declaring August 16 Maino Day. “FOREVER BROOKLYN!!!!” he wrote. He also recently teased some upcoming Lobby Boyz music with Jim Jones, though further details of the project remain unclear.

Adekunle Gold Will Have Summer Parties Going Crazy With “The Life I Chose”

Lagos, Nigeria native and Afrobeats veteran Adekunle Gold is bringing his infectious energy once again with a new single. However, outside of his immense amount of talent, he also crosses over to work with rappers and singers from the hip-hop/R&B space. Additionally, Afropop and Afrobeats have also been extremely popular as of late. So with that, today we are covering Adekunle Gold’s newest track “The Life I Chose.”

This track is following up a very impressive 2023 for Adekunle. Last year, the veteran put out his album Tequila Ever After. It featured impressive names like Pharrell Williams, Khalid, his wife Simi, Coco Jones, and more. In 2024, things got even better for the Def Jam signee.

KILLY’s Auto-tuned Style Is All Over New Single “GLEE”

KILLY is always dropping atmospheric and grand auto-tuned bangers and he has another one for us today. The Toronto, Canadian’s style is definitely similar to that of Travis Scott, someone who is essentially the epitome of dark and psychedelic trap-flavored productions. The 26-year-old crooner dropped a new single back at the very beginning of February with “POP 2.” That then became a two-pack featuring an older track, “Life I Chose,” with Dom Corleo. There is no word if these two previous cuts will turn into a project of some kind. However, if we put our speculation goggles on for a second, that could be the case. We say that because KILLY is back with another one this month called “GLEE.”

Back in 2023, KILLY did drop an impressive but short project during the month of October. K3 featured some standout moments including “Cut Em Off,” “Same Energy,” and a collaboration with his late friend SEGA on “LOOK AT WHAT WE STARTED.” With “GLEE” you are getting very similar vibes from the aforementioned EP. The distorted and rumbling bass and screeching vocal lines are familiar but wavy.

In other news for KILLY, he will be heading out on a mini tour at the beginning of next month. He announced it on his social media accounts a few weeks ago. “LIFE I CHOSE TOUR” w/ my dawgs @smiley61st @coultss. Leave a comment on what songs y’all want me to perform and the city you are in.” It is an exclusive European escapade that will see him go to Dublin, Amsterdam, Budapest, and more. For now, check out KILLY’s “GLEE” above.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “GLEE,” by KILLY? Is this better than “POP 2,” why or why not? Do you think he should drop a new album this year? Midwxst Is Moving On From A Toxic Lover On “Mistakes” With 9lives

Midwxst is a rapper that sort of flew under the radar for us, but over time, the South Carolinian really blew us way late last year. He specializes in what is referred to as hyperpop which is a combination of genres that he used to near perfection on his debut album. E3 had plenty of impressive cuts like “pretty girls,” “lost,” “heartache blues,” “hate how much,” and more. Now, midwxst is back to revive that momentum with “mistakes.”

This is his first true solo release since the “warning” single for the aforementioned debut. For “mistakes,” midwxst is teaming up with a producer he some rapport with, 9lives. The beat on this one has that familiar sound from the debut and it would definitely fit snuggly into that tracklist. It has a bit of a lo-fi start before the melodic drums in. This is a sound that midwxst can really making a living off of because he sounds great it on it once again.

He is rapping about an ex-girlfriend that was really dragging him down. She even went as far as to say that he would never get better. But, midwxst finds some resolve and breaks things off. In doing so, he finds that he can get through any issue he comes face to face with. It is a nice low-key song to play when you are feeling down, building yourself back up, or when you are headed out on a night drive.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “mistakes,” by midwxst and 9lives? Is this one of his best breakup/love songs ever, why or why not? Is E3 still in your rotation and if so what songs? Are you excited to see what direction he goes in going forward? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Ransom, Harry Fraud, & Boldy James Collide For Luxurious “Live From The Roxy”

Three of the more prolific talents in hip-hop are teaming up to deliver a glorious symphony of rhymes and glamorous production. Ransom, Harry Fraud, and Boldy James are here to bring you “Live from the Roxy.” All three are veterans and respected ones at that. If you are looking for hardcore and/or jazzy raps, then this trio is for you.

Ransom is following up a strong 2023 after plenty of features, several singles, and his lone LP from July, Directors Cut 4. For Harry Fraud, he was also all over the place last year. He had production credits on four LPs for RXKNephew, Jay Worthy and Kamaiyah, Valee, and Curren$y. Finally, for Boldy James, he is back after a more recent release. Ransom’s “Live from the Roxy,” is a drumless and bassless cut that is all about slick rhymes. It has this grand opus feeling to it with the soulful vocal bits in the background that give it a classical vibe. Which makes considering the title being named after a famous longstanding nightclub called Roxy Theater in Hollywood. It has been open since the early 1970’s and it feels like that is when this Fraud instrumental was made. Check out the Ransom-led track above.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “Live from the Roxy,” by Ransom, Harry Fraud, and Boldy James? Who had the best performance on the track and why? DDG Is “Going To The Top” On His Latest Single

DDG for some reason just does not hit the sweet spot for us when it comes to crafting memorable tracks. The multi-hyphenate from Michigan does not have to be a wordsmith by any means. Creating easy-going tracks that are catchy is not a bad thing to make a career off of. However, DDG just does not have that special sauce even on his latest single “Going To The Top.”

This follows up his “She Don’t Play” offering from late December. It was more a of club/party track about a woman who could get whatever she wanted. There are a lot of artists who make similar music to DDG. But, what helps them stand out is the way they deliver their lyrics and the production choices they make.

Listen To “Going To The Top” By DDG

For the past YouTuber, it seems that he selects basic flows and instrumentals that you will hear all over the current hip-hop landscape. “Going To The Top” is about grinding and flexing how far you have come and how no one is better. It is a common rap topic and has given us plenty of memorable tracks. Yet again though, DDG does nothing to show us why it should be worth going back to this. Still, if you want to support, click the link to check out the song above.

Druski Grabs Snoop Dogg & DJ Drama To Help Promote Comedian’s Docuseries With “Standin On Bihness”

Druski’s comedic genius continues to grow as he inches closer and closer to his reality show spoof. The Maryland native has become one of the funniest and well-recognized comedians on the internet and it has landed him tons of opportunities. One of those includes the ability to release Coulda Been House. According to Billboard, the show is a hybrid of American Idol and Meeting the Band. To promote it, Druski is tapping Snoop Dogg and DJ Drama for a hilarious theme song called “Standin On Bihness.”

The premise of the comedy series is to take all of the contestants that tried to in a deal with Coulda Been Records and put them in a house to compete. The winner walks away with a grand prize of $50,000 and a deal with Druski’s label. However, the brand is not a real music company and it is a bit that the 29-year-old sort of became known for. According to HipHopDX, Druski spoke about the show on Skip Bayless’ Undisputed.

“We giving out opportunities, brotha, but we ain’t just giving it — you got to earn it.” The song title is also poking fun at the recent trend of saying “standing on business,” even though people rarely ever stand by it. It in part became popular after T.I.’s song King Harris had his viral outburst at the Falcons game. Harris wanted some credit from Druski for using it as the song title, but that does not look like that will happen. You can check out the hilarious track produced by BNYX above, as well as the trailer for the series.

NLE Choppa & Lil Mabu Get A Little Too Graphic On “Shotta Flow 7 Remix”

Back in early December of last year, Memphis rapper NLE Choppa wrote his final “Shotta Flow” with the seventh installment. It is the hallmark song series in his discography, one that began back in 2019 toward the inception of his career. The last one brought some incredibly raunchy bars, but the “Shotta Flow 7 Remix” might out do its predecessor. The reason for that is because of Lil Mabu.

The New Yorker has become a viral sensation ever since he put out “MATHEMATICAL DISRESPECT.” It turned Mabu into an overnight sensation on TikTok, as his controversial persona has been producing headlines for the past year or so. Things especially ramped up for him when he began dating Blueface’s troubled baby mama Chrisean Rock. While he may not be the most likeable figure and a bit of a troll, it has led him to a blossoming career with impressive collaborations.

He can now add NLE Choppa to his list with “Shotta Flow 7 Remix.” As we said, Chop dropped some questionable lyrics, especially toward some celebrities. But, Mabu might take the cake or bars that are a little too hard to stomach. “I box your b**** and I bust her the lip (Huh) / As a minor (On god) and I deliver her saliva / Body part rhymes with China (China) / You know I had to get behind her (Behind her), Nut in her eyes, gotta blind her (Oops, blind her).” Mabu even goes as far as to say that he is “good at the cookout, every hood, every trap house.” Yeah, so we want to see your reactions, so check it out above.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “Shotta Flow 7 Remix,” by NLE Choppa and Lil Mabu? Do you prefer the new or old version more? Are the lyrics a little too much, why or why not? What is your favorite “Shotta Flow” in the series and why? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding NLE Choppa and Lil Mabu. Finally, stay with us for the most informative song posts throughout the week.

Mabu got the last lick, how it feel, bruh? (Ha)
Type to put a orange tip on a real gun

Mabu took your babe (On god)
You should know, I don’t swing that way (Nah-uh)
