Sexyy Red Shows Love To The 2000s With Star-Studded Music Video For “Get It Sexyy”

Sexyy Red is looking to shake up 2024 like she did in 2023 with her album Hood Hottest Princess. The St. Louis, Missouri rapper has a handful of hit songs under her belt from that record and its recent deluxe. Of course, you have the one that started it all, “SkeeYee,” as well as “Hellcats SRTs,” “Pound Town 2,” and “Bow Bow Bow.” However, their might be a single that could overtake the others. That would be her latest collaboration with Tay Keith. The two have developed an undeniable chemistry going back to that record. “Get It Sexyy” has been racking up the streams and now it has a crazy music video to go with it.

It became her highest peaking song on the Billboard Hot 100, hitting number 23. Additionally, it rose to the top of the Apple Music chart during its first weekend. Naturally, “Get It Sexyy” deserved a music video and man does it deliver. The visuals might hit you in the nostalgia bone, as this is a clear callback to early 2000s visuals. The grainy shots, mixed in with massive crowds and choreographed dances, are a fun homage to that era of hip-hop.

What also makes this video a hit for Sexyy Red are the plethora of hilarious cameos. It would not be a 2000s-style video without Soulja Boy. He appears at the beginning to continue to the running joke that he was the first to do everything in the industry. Adin Ross also plays a nerd who is obsessed with Sexyy Red, getting off to her twerking on a chunky looking computer. It is both weird and hilarious as it makes light of their recent back-and-forth online about the two hooking up. Rob49 also makes an appearance in some funny scenes with Adin that you have to see for yourself. The biggest cameo is Drake though, as he and Red are on a date that does not end well for the Canadian rapper.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new music video for “Get It Sexyy” by Sexyy Red and Tay Keith? Is this the wildest music video of the year so far, why or why not? Will this be her biggest hit of her career, why or why not? Who had the funniest cameo in the video? What is your favorite element of the track and why? Maxo Kream & That Mexican OT Pay Homage To Chopped & Screwed On “Talkin In Screw”

Maxo Kream is back at it with another banger for 2024. The Texas rapper has been on an underrated run over the first few months of the year in terms of singles. He started off with the hazy and raunchy “Bang The Bus” with underground producer evilgiane. Then, at the beginning of March, he put out his first solo release with “No Then You A H*e.” A touching tribute to his late father with a message about toughness and the loaded expectations of men, it was easily one of the best songs this month. Now, to wrap things up before April, Maxo Kream is teaming up with That Mexican OT for “Talkin In Screw.”

This track is stark difference from the emotional record preceding it. It sees the two Texas artists go for the trap sound that also makes a nod to the chopped and screwed sounds of Southern hip-hop. The title is a clever play-on-words, as the main theme of the track is about people talking sideways about Maxo and OT. They use “screw” in place of hating, and like Maxo says on the chorus, “Make a n**** slow his roll like he talkin’ in Screw.”

That is Kream saying he is going to make sure the haters are going to relax and fix their tone. These two first worked together on OT’s 2023 record Lonestar Luchador, which featured the hit “Johnny Dang.” With all of this recent output, hopefully Maxo has a new tape on the way. Be sure to check out the song with the link above.

Beyonce, Shaboozey, & Pharrell Williams Team Up For A Wild, Multi-Layered Cut “SWEET HONEY BUCKIIN’”

Beyonce has been dominating the streams this weekend and will continue to do so for at least the next week with COWBOY CARTER. The sequel to 2022’s RENAISSANCE, the Beyhive and many others were excited for the project’s sound when this was first revealed to us during the Super Bowl. This second installment in this act trilogy, the Houston native is paying homage to her country roots. However, the icon said it best about what this LP is, “This ain’t a country album. This is a Beyonce album.” One of the perfect examples of that quote is “SWEET HONEY BUCKIIN’,” which sees Beyonce work with Shaboozey and Pharrell Williams.

This is one of many songs that definitely is not pure country, but has elements of the genre sprinkled in. Firstly, Shaboozey deserves a huge shout-out. He has been rising quickly over the last several months with his spin on the genre, adding elements of hip-hop. Now, because of that mixed audience, he earned the chance to work with not only Beyonce, but with Pharrell Williams too.

This multi-layered track might sound all over the place on the surface. However, each phase fits together fairly well. “SWEET” is dominated by Shaboozey with Beyonce coming in after over a jersey club/country beat. Then, “HONEY” is the shortest part and sees it go in a more R&B direction with a slower pace to the production and a more sensual singing performance. Finally, “BUCKIIN’” is the rowdiest part with hard-hitting thumping bass, the classic air horn sound effects, with a hint of guitar. Again, there is a lot to take in, but this trio delivers one of strongest bangers on the album for sure.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new song, “SWEET HONEY BUCKIIN’,” by Beyonce, Shaboozey, and Pharrell Williams? Is this the best track on COWBOY CARTER, why or why not? Doja Cat Teases New Song Dropping Soon

Doja Cat isn’t resting any time soon. Late last year she released her new album Scarlet which was pretty well received by critics and even more so by fans. The album still has two singles in the top 40 of the Hot 100 right now. “Paint The Town Red” currently sits at number 32 after hitting the very top spot on the chart last year. “Agora Hills” currently sits at number 13 on the chart after peaking at number 7 earlier this year.

Even after recently touring on the back of the record, she’s still refusing to slow down. That confirmation came earlier today when she announced her new single on Instagram. “🦴🦴 ASC 4.5.24” she captioned the announcement. It’s as non-specific as ever for Doja but it seems to imply that the new single is called MASC and will drop early next month on April 5. She also shared the artwork for the single, which is something blown up to super zoomed in, though it’s difficult to tell what. Check out the full announcement post below.

Doja Cat Announces New Single “MASC”

The move comes just a few weeks after Doja Cat deactivated her Instagram. She claimed that she shut the platform down after “toxicity” from her fanbase, something that certain followers didn’t seem to take well. Her beef with her own fans dates back to last year when she took issue with them picking the name “Kittenz” for her fan base. It turned out that picking a fight with her own fanbase wasn’t the best idea for Doja’s popularity. The move caused her to lose 250k Instagram followers.

Just a few weeks before that Doja shared a hilarious video of herself trying to recite lyrics. She’s attempting to sing the popular refrain from Kanye West’s “BACK TO ME” and seemingly losing her mind while doing so. What do you think of Doja Cat’s new single announcement? Are you looking forward to the release of “MASC” next month? Let us know in the comment section below.

Kodak Black Raps About All That Is Holy On “Non Believer”

With his latest releases, Kodak Black has been getting more and more personal. The Florida rapper and singer has not had the cleanest record outside of music, but it seems he is trying to change his image. While not every track in this style has landed for him, we can certainly appreciate the effort in expanding his tonal range. That is what Kodak Black is doing on this latest single “Non Believer.”

This is now the fourth major release that we have seen the multi-hyphenate on. One of his best performances of the year without a doubt landed on “JEEZU.” THE BOOK OF CLARENCE soundtrack cut featuring Doja Cat and Adekunle Gold, was a powerful cut and major highlight on the project thanks to Black’s contributions. Like that film, Kodak is also focusing on God and religion.

DJ Premier & Snoop Dogg Deliver A West Coast Kick Back On “Can U Dig That?”

DJ Premier and Snoop Dogg really do not need introductions at this point in their respective careers. Both have defined the West Coast and Southern hip-hop sounds for decades, delivering classics on classics. Even better, these two are still consistently pumping out new material as well. The last time we spoke about new Snoop was for the 30th anniversary of his legendary debut Doggystyle. He has also been active with the singles and features, with his assist on Benny The Butcher’s Everybody Can’t Go a standout.

For Mr. Premier he has put out some records with “Work This Out” being his most recent. That is, until DJ Premier and Snoop Dogg linked for “Can U Dig That?” This is not the first time these two greats have hit the booth together though. Funny enough, their most recent collaboration was actually on a Russ track “Free” which landed on CHOMP 2.”

Lil Yachty Creates Concrete Rekordz With Support From Quality Control & HYBE

Lil Yachty is blazing new trails each and every day it seems. From his new features that drop weekly, to his future and most recent projects, Lil Boat is thriving. Pretty soon the Atlanta rapper and UK singer James Blake will be dropping an album together called Bad Cameo, which should be an interesting pairing. Elsewhere, Yachty has been quickly developing a rap collective called the Concrete Boys. They began buzzing in late December with their “MO JAMS” release. Now, Yachty and his compadres Camo!, DC2TRILL, Draft Day, and KARRAHBOOO, have Concrete Rekordz as a stable foundation.

The label is headed by the Let’s Start Here. creator, but he is not totally alone. According to Uproxx, the new recording brand has the support of Quality Control, which Yachty signed to. Moneybagg Yo & Rob49 Drop Nearly NSFW Single “Bussin”

Moneybagg Yo is one of the most prolific Memphis rappers in the modern era. The CMG/Bread Gang Music Group MC has one of the largest catalogs with about 19 projects, not including deluxe versions. Even though we are accustomed to hearing multiple projects from him every year, 2023 was perhaps his biggest. In 2024, Moneybagg Yo is starting off with a raunchy bang by dropping “Bussin” with Rob49.

This marks the first-ever track with the Tennessee and Louisiana natives, as they rap about women and sex. It is easily one of the most bombastic tracks we have heard all year. The NSFW lyrics are not being subliminal whatsoever as you know what Yo and Rob49 are talking about on this cut. Helping with this basic trap banger are the master producers of the subgenre Tay Keith and Wheezy.

Doechii & JT Are Unbothered On Party-Ready Banger “Alter Ego”

Doechii is one of the many talented ladies on the Top Dawg Entertainment label. What makes her such a valuable asset to them is her ability to write catchy radio hits or go experimental at any given moment. A perfect example to look at is going from “What It Is” to “Pacer” in a span of about six months. Doechii is now following up the latter with another intriguing offering, “Alter Ego,” with JT of City Girls.

This last handful of singles over the past year, including “Booty Drop,” could all very well be on her next LP. While we still await a title and release date, she was supposedly confirmed to be dropping a tape, along with a host of other TDE artists. “Alter Ego” marks the first collaboration between Doechii and JT and it goes over pretty well. If you are looking for a uber-confident listening experience, then this will hit the spot.

Both femcees are bringing all their energy into the club-ready track. Zach Witness and Doechii both had a hand in the production. They meld together a unique combination of samples but it works! “Show Me Love” by Robin S, as well as a cult hit “Spread That P*ss” by Ayesha Erotica are the tracks responsible for the funky vibe of “Alter Ego.” Doechii and JT contrast each other nicely, with the latter going for a more smooth and lowkey delivery. Hear why “these h**s ain’t phasin’” them above.

Anycia Is Hoping For A Man’s Downfall With “NENE’S PRAYER”

Anycia has been sending shockwaves in the underground Atlanta, Georgia rap scene as of late. That is even with the 26-year-old femcee only being around since 2022. 2023 was when she began to gain more ears and eyes on her with her six-song EP EXTRA. Her single with fellow up-and-comer KARRAHBOO in November of last year, “SPLASH BROTHERS,” was also a big deal. Since its release, the record has earned over 990,000 streams on Spotify.

In 2024, Anycia has been gaining more momentum with her high-profile collaboration “BACK OUTSIDE” with Latto and producers jetsonmade and Go Grizzly. The heavy-hitting trap banger with killer horn samples got her off to a strong start. Now, Anycia is looking to further hone her sound with “NENE’S PRAYER.” This is also her second song of March.

If there is anyway for this guy to fail, she wants to see it happen. “I hope your barber push your s*** back / I hope you get up out the car and then your phone crack,” she hilariously says.
