Lancey Foux & Teezo Touchdown Are The Next Artists Up For The Cash Cobain Treatment With “Daylight”

Cash Cobain has had his fingerprints all over the place as of late. The New York bred rapper and producer has quickly risen in popularity and notoriety amongst fans and his peers for his unmistakable style. Considered “sexy drill”, this man absolutely lives for the nighttime and creating wavy club bangers. Over the last few weeks, Cash has seemingly worked with every major artist you can think of, including J. Cole of all people.

Additionally, he got to work alongside Don Toliver and Charlie Wilson on “Attitude”, which will land on the former’s forthcoming album Hardstone Psycho. Cash also produced for Ice Spice and A Boogie Wit da Hoodie, just to name a few extra. Now, he is working alongside UK multi-hyphenate Lancey Foux for his collaborative single “Daylight”, which also features the eclectic Teezo Touchdown. Over the last couple singles, Foux has been doing some interesting things over in the R&B space, and this is another venture.

Listen To “Daylight” By Lancey Foux, Teezo Touchdown, & Cash Cobain

On this cut, Teezo and Lancey are wanting to love a woman so much that it continues into the next day, every time that they are together. Foux auto-tune croons his way across the transcendental beat from Cash, whereas Teezo brings his trademark energetic nature to break up the lowkey nature of the track. Even though the instrumental is solid, a lot of listeners are quickly growing tired of Cash’s repetitive nature. “Cash Cobain run is bout to end real soon if he don’t find a new trick,” one user writes on IG. “So cash cobain just giving everyone the same beat huh?”, another adds.

What are your thoughts on “Daylight” by Lancey Foux, Teezo Touchdown, and Cash Cobain? Is this one of his better singles as of late, why or why not? Cochise Unleashes Yet Another Upbeat Single “Lay Up”

Cochise never fails to come through with an upbeat banger, and his latest release is certainly no exception. Earlier this week, the Florida-born performer unleashed a new single called “Lay Up” alongside an accompanying music video, and so far listeners are impressed. The fun, laid-back track sees him sing about passing up all of his competitors with ease, and never letting them stand in his way.

He told fans ahead of the release that it’d be dropping in honor of his birthday. “IM GETTING OLD. DROPPING A SONG FOR MY BIRTHDAY GIFT TONIGHT,” he wrote, building further anticipation. The catchy track is in the same vein as some of his other recently released singles such as “Geeked” and “Jackpot.”

The catchy melody in the instrumental, as well as Long’s effortless singing are a match made in heaven. She definitely knows that song has become a smashing success due to all of its remixes and versions with different artists. Tha Dogg Pound, Snoop Dogg, The Lady Of Rage, & RBX Make It Tough To Answer “Who Da Hardest?”

Tha Dogg Pound dropped one of the biggest records of the weekend, and maybe the whole year. Their reunion took place on W.A.W.G. (We All We Got), their ninth studio album as a unit. Kurupt and Daz Dillinger also had some help getting this tape out, and they have Snoop Dogg to thank for that. Him and Daz were able to bury the hatchet recently, which is a big reason as to why this thing exists to begin with.

Fans have been providing a lot of positive feedback from what we have seen and there are plenty of factors playing into that. One of them is the collaboration track between Tha Dogg Pound, Snoop, RBX, DJ Premier, and The Lady Of Rage called “Who Da Hardest?”. This behemoth of a song clocks in at a little over five minutes, as each rapper essentially steps up to the mic and delivers their best stuff. It is the perfect closer to tape, as each verse is loaded with bars and great presence overall.

The rapper that feels feel went “da hardest” is The Lady Of Rage. The longtime spitter, who has collaborated many times with Death Row artists, seems to be crowned the lyrical champion. We really do not have any objection to that pick, especially with the bars she brought. “I wear that crown, bow down
Don’t go provoking, huh / Check how I get down, you know nobody dope as her / Look what the girl blew in, no need for Oprah
“.

What are your thoughts on “Who Da Hardest?” by Tha Dogg Pound, Snoop Dogg, RBX, The Lady Of Rage, and DJ Premier? Is this the best song off of W.A.W.G. (We All We Got), why or why not? Open Mike Eagle’s Previous Industries Leaves Off Loose & Abstract Single “Zayre”

Just a few months ago, a new three-headed monster was born. That would the combination of underground hip-hop greats Open Mike Eagle, Video Dave, and STILL RIFT. Together they are known as Previous Industries, and their de facto leader is the first of those three names. If you know anything about these guys, you are well aware by now that doing things by the conventional hip-hop playbook is not the forte. When you go into their music, you are in for a one-of-a-kind listening experience almost every time. Even though these three gentlemen are Chicago natives, they are currently based out of the L.A. area. Pretty soon, these East coasters are going to be dropping their first album.

But before that comes, Previous Industries is back with a new promotional single called “Zayre”. This is their third drop overall, but it is their fourth track. Their inaugural release was a two-pack consisting of “Showbiz” and “Braids”. After that followed “Pliers”, which hit platforms on April 23.

One thing that is cool about each song title so far, is that each one is a reference to a former business. You can credit Stereogum for discovering that neat fun fact. What is even cooler is that Previous Industries is playing into this quite a bit, even including hidden meaning in their lyrics. “When you have time, watch the commercials for Zayre and know that it was a real place where people bought action figures and pants. The producer Child Actor is a genius. He showed us his formula once, and we got really scared… There’s secret lyrics to the hook that [Open Mike Eagle will] never tell you. Dave might tell you for the right price, but he never will”. Fans can try and discover more hidden gems when Service Merchandise drops on June 28.

Lucky Daye Is Letting His Walls All The Way Down On “Soft”

Lucky Daye, former American Idol contestant and RCA Records signee, is back with a brand-new single “Soft”. This is the New Orleans, Louisiana native’s third offering from his forthcoming third studio record, Algorithm. It will be his first project since 2022’s Candydrip, a record that featured the likes of Lil Durk, Smino, and Chiiild. Of course, the solo tracks such as “Over” and “Deserve” were standouts. So far, Lucky Daye has impressed fans with “HERicane” and “That’s You”, and “Soft” seems to be on the path of being another hit.

On this song, Lucky is singing about a woman that he is so infatuated with. The attraction is so strong in fact that he is becoming his most vulnerable self. Lucky Daye spoke with RCA about what “Soft” means to him. “‘Soft’ is about how love can come over a person and make them feel vulnerable, and whilst it’s unexpected, it’s also okay to embrace it”.

He continues, “To be comfortable doing the things society labels “soft” like cuddling, PDA, hugging and kissing – shamelessly. It’s about a lover putting a spell on you but that spell is in fact love itself”. The opening lines (below) and lyrics later on in the track accurately depict said feelings over a rock/R&B instrumental that just makes sense sonically. If you cannot enjoy the guitar solo thrown in on the back half, then we do not know what to tell you. Lucky Daye’s Algorithm is due out on June 28.

What are your thoughts on “Soft” by Lucky Daye? Is this the best single as of late, why or why not? Does this pique your interest in what his upcoming album could be? Luh Tyler Takes A Victory Lap On “Young N****”

Luh Tyler has blown up quickly in a pretty competitive hip-hop scene in Florida. The 18-year-old Atlantic Records signee blew up on social media with some hot singles, and since then all he has done is level up. On top of tracks like “Law & Order”, “Back Flippin”, and “Change My Wayz”, his resume is quite impressive. The man is a 2023 XXL Freshman and he will be touring with A Boogie Wit da Hoodie fairly soon for his Better Off Alone tour.

Because of all of these accomplishments, Luh Tyler has reason to celebrate his W’s on “Young N****”. This is the latest offering and follow up to March’s “Bad B****”. On this cut, the raspy-voiced MC is counting up all of his successes, which includes women, money, luxuries, and the most important, being able to help out his family. “I been puttin’ in that work, b****, I been droppin’ these hits (Droppin’ these hits)
Now ma dukes don’t gotta work because her son done got rich, n**** (Her son done got rich)
“.

He did drop his first LP in mixtape form last year with My Vision, with features from Lil Uzi Vert (Reloaded), Loe Shimmy, NoCap, SCY Jimm, and Wizz Havinn. But instead of giving bangers, we feel that Tyler has enough experience now to carry out a theme on a project. While we wait for that time to come, check out “Young N****” and its video above.

Chika, Anderson .Paak And Fred Again… Delight With “Places To Be” Single

Fred Again… has a fascinating body of work. His solo material is electronic based, but whenever he crosses paths with hip-hop artists, the results are unexpected. “Stayinit” was an eclectic mash up of Fred Again… EDM with Lil Yachty’s croon over the top. “Turn On the Lights Again..” turns Future’s first big hit into a four on the floor anthem. Fred Again… is digging into his collaborative bag once again with “Places to Be,” and this may be his greatest hybrid of styles yet.

“Places to Be” doesn’t contain any of the nocturnal, club vibes of Fred Again…’s most famous songs. It’s a bright, sunny bop with vocals from Chika and Anderson .Paak. The crux of the beat stems from a vocal sample and a stuttering drumbeat, but the soaring synth is what really makes it irresistible. The synth is a sonic transporter, making the viewer feeling they’re soaring through the aforementioned sunny sky. It’s a fitting sensation, given the lyrical topic of the song. Chika is the first person heard on “Places to Be,” and her smooth, relaxed delivery meshes perfectly with the exhilarating beat drop around the minute mark.

Fred Again… Drops His Catchiest Single Yet

Fred Again… and Chika both do their thing, but it’s Anderson .Paak who steals the show. The artist goes absolutely wild with a half-rapped, half-sung verse that manages to keep pace with the beat. The lyrics aren’t mind-blowing, but they’re extremely fitting. “Pretty brown, round, got me weak in the knees,” he raps. “Slow up, your homie down, I’m re-adjustin’ my speed. I’ve been gone too long, baby doll, don’t leave. Okay, but mash, foot up on the gas.” The Fred Again… production turns euphoric in the las few seconds of “Places to Be,” as it brings back the Chika vocals and slows the tempo. This is going to be lots of summer playlists.

What are your thoughts on “Places to Be” by Chika, Anderson .Paak and Fred Again…? Do you like Fred Again…’s tweaked sound? Does Anderson .Paak steal the show for you? Is this a candidate for song of the summer? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Jessie Reyez And Big Sean Bring Quiet Menace On “Shut Up” Single

Jessie Reyez is an emotive singer. She puts her all into everything she sings, whether it be heartbreak on “Forever” or sex on “Jeans.” There’s a tension and electricity that she brings to the table as an artist, and it’s led to her landing massive collaborations with the likes of Miguel, 6LACK and most notably, Eminem. Jessie Reyez decided to change things up on her new single, though. Instead of leaning into her emotive vocals, the turns down the melodrama and dishes out a slick, minimal track that’s menacing as it is cool. It helps that Reyez brings another Detroit rapper, Big Sean, into the mix.

“Shut Up” may sound like the title to a loud, aggressive song, but it’s anything but. The instrumental is punctuated by hard bass hints and creeping strings that switch before the background and foreground. Jessie Reyez never reaches into her higher register. She adopts a whispery, menacing flow that’s closer to rapping than actual singing, and it works. It suits the callous lyrics like a glove. “Phone full of options, bank full of bills,” she raps. “Don’t do it ’cause I need to, I do it for the thrill.” The verses follow suit, with talk of ex-boyfriends and put downs aimed at unnamed enemies. “Know your ex watchin’, know they see me locked in,” she adds. “Came from a different angle (What?), I can’t be boxed in. B*tch, better read the room like you telepromptin’.”

Jessie Reyez Changes Her Style Up And It Works

Big Sean brings the energy while still matching menacing vibe. He’s become one of the more reliable names in hip-hop when it comes to pop-rap guest features, and he delivers yet again. The Detroit MC drops some clever bars about Batman and Robin, exes who tried to kiss and make up, and the general bragging one would expect from the guy who made Finally Famous. “Old school, pair of gold chain, goin’ Rakim,” he raps. “Batman, black man, billionaire but ain’t nobody robbin’. I tell a bad b*tch to her face that she grounded.” “Shut Up” isn’t going to be a smash hit or anything, but it’s a catchy song worth checking out.

What are your thoughts on “Shut Up” by Jessie Reyez and Big Sean? Do you like Reyez’s break from her usual sound? Do you want to hear more of it on her next album? Does Sean’s verse deliver? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Quavo Teams Up With Ian And Teases Upcoming Collaboration

Quavo is a prolific artist. He was the first member of Migos to step out and find solo success by working with the likes of Drake and Travis Scott. He even scored a number one single opposite Justin Bieber. The Atlanta rapper does not discriminate when it comes to collaborations. That being said, his latest collab is a bit of a surprise. Quavo posted a photo on Instagram of him working in the studio alongside the latest rap breakout, Ian. A controversial pick, but one that ultimately makes sense.

Quavo posted the photo on his Instagram Stories on May 30. The rapper doesn’t appear in it himself, but it looks as though he’s the one who snapped the image of Ian in the studio. Ian, who was born Ian O’Neill Smith (shocker, we know), can be seen laying down vocals. We even get to see the audio file of whatever song Quavo and Ian are working on in the background. The Migos rapper tagged Ian, suggesting the two are going to be dropping something very soon. Aesthetically, Quavo and Ian are worlds apart. Culturally as well, actually. It’s the style of Ian’s music, however, that’s going to make this potential collaboration interesting.

Quavo Posted An IG Photo Of Ian Recording A Verse

Ian takes inspiration from trap rap of the 2010s, including Gucci Mane, Chief Keef and yes, Migos. The rapper’s recent album, Valedictorian, has taken the world by storm, for reasons musical and otherwise. Fans have been impressed with Ian’s ability to emulate his musical idols, while critics have criticized him for being a watered-down imitation of people like Keef and Playboi Carti. It’s easy to see both sides. The collab between Quavo and Ian will help to legitimate the latter’s reputation within hip-hop, and may even lead to other high-profile collabs.

Quavo, meanwhile, is hard at work on his upcoming solo album. There hasn’t been any word on a title or a proper release date, but the Migos rapper has been dropping singles. “Himothy” and “Potato Loaded” were buzz singles that failed to generate much attention. Quavo has also teased multiple snippets and collabs with artists like Rich the Kid and Lana Del Rey. He’s also working on piecing together songs for Takeoff’s posthumous album. “I’m gathering a whole bunch of information, gathering a lot of producers, gathering a lot of my friends, a lot of the artists,” Quavo told Vibe in 2023. “And we’re going to make this album one of the craziest albums of all time.”
