JasonMartin — who used to be referred to as Problem — is back with a highly anticipated single for an equally awaited project. The Compton, California rapper is not alone on this cut either. Legendary producer DJ Quik, along with Jay Worthy, Curren$y, and Bun B are also in on the fun. This latest song from JasonMartin is called “SINCE I WAS A LIL” and it is the second offering from CHUPACABRA. That is the alleged title of what will be a collaborative effort between the Jason and DJ Quik.

The veteran West Coast MC announced that this tape would be coming a few weeks ago on his Instagram in a lengthy monologue format. He explains that this is going to be one for the books and a project that fill a void that has been open for some time, Jason feels. “This moment will be the legendary. The album we crafted together, with the help of @jayworthy142 , will restore the feeling that’s been missing from California music as a whole.”

Larry June Floats On New Single “Dreams”

Larry June is an artist you can always go to for the lowkey summer night cuts that make you want to roll up and chill. What is even better is that he always has those kinds of tracks in the vault to release at the perfect time. Today is one of those days, as Larry June is back with a wavy and vibey single, “Dreams”. This is the California multi-hyphenate’s latest release of 2024, and it follows up on a song from less than a month ago. That May 7 offering was “Meet Me In Napa”, which heard him croon over a minimal beat.

Then, just a month before that, Larry June put out “Imported Couches”, which featured another measured performance. It is clear that the veteran is aiming for a certain aesthetic going forward this year. This consistent approach to these songs, including “Dreams”, could mean that a new album is in the works. The timing certainly makes sense, as Mr. June is not one to lay back and not drop an album for an extended period.

Chicken P is one of the leading voices in the now popular Milwaukee rap scene. The largest city in the state of Wisconsin has really grown lately due to the uniqueness of its sound. We have been focusing on Mr. P, as well as names like Myaap and JP over the last few months and with each release, fans are beginning to pay more and more attention. The Milwaukee lowend style is essentially heavy on the rapid-fire snares and bass and that is exactly what kind of beat Chicken P is bringing on “Low Life Rich N****”. This single is here not too long after his recent projects.

The six-year veteran just dropped off Hardest N**** Livin’ back in May, and BussaBrick Vol.3 :ReallyRich4eva (Deluxe). On “Low Life Rich N****”, raps about his rise to fame and wealth all while still being tied to the streets. The beat slaps, as the elements of a nasty piano loop, bells, and unrelenting snares. With the competition so fierce in this Midwestern city, Chicken P has to work extra hard if he wants to be at the top of the heap.

Denzel Curry Teams Up With TiaCorine And ASAP Ferg For “HOT ONE”

Denzel Curry has quietly put together one of the best rap careers of the past decade. He’s repeatedly changed up his sound without sacrificing his quality. He’s proven that he can make aggressive club songs and reflective, chill tracks alike. At this point, Curry can follow his muse wherever, and he has enough goodwill with fans that they’re willing to follow him. “HOT ONES” is the first single from the upcoming album King of the Mischievous South, Vol. 2, and it sees Curry turn out a solid posse cut.

The energy is there from the word go. Denzel Curry’s ferocious delivery pulls listeners right into the song, and his opening verse is packed with quotables. “I can make money from the comfort of my sofa,” he raps. “So much drive, now I gotta get a chauffeur. One day I’ll be big, but I know I’m gettin’ closer.” It’s classic ‘Zel, but the guest features actually manage the rare feat of outshining him. TiaCorine whips out a slick flow that sounds great over the airy instrumental. Vocally, she provides great counterbalance to the main rapper’s gruffness. Then ASAP Ferg comes through and steals “HOT ONE” from both of them.

Denzel Curry Has Great Chemistry With His Features

The charismatic hitmaker sounds energetic as ever, and he comes in so confident on the beat you’d be forgiven for thinking the single was actually his. “F*ck a new chain, I got a new house,” he spits. “That’s your boo thang? She need a new mouth. I flash the gold fangs, that’s just my root canal.” Ferg shines on what sounds like an ASAP Mob type beat. The only thing that holds “HOT ONE” from being a capital “G” great song is the hook. Curry and Ferg crooning about catching hot ones isn’t the earworm they seem to think it is.

Camila Cabello Seemingly Teases Lyrics For Drake Interlude “UUUGLY”

Camila Cabello and Drake are really building up the hype. The two pop stars are linking up for Cabello’s upcoming album, and Drake will actually be featured on multiple songs. The first is called “Hot Uptown,” and the second is a Drake interlude titled “UUUGLY.” Not much has been revealed about the songs, but Cabello recently penned a letter to a fan, and it contained lyrics for the “UUUGLY” interlude in the text.

“Don’t make me pull out these credit card statements and show you the proof,” the letter read. “It’ll get UUUGLY.” The singer signed her name at the bottom, while clarifying that she was not insulting the fan she was giving it to. “PS, it’s only lyrics,” she explained. “We’re not beefin.” The lyrics are from the “UUUGLY” interlude. In other words, they will be uttered by the 6 God himself. Cabello told Billboard that she liked the idea of breaking conventions and giving a song to a featured artist on her own album. “Why does he have his own song,” she asked rhetorically. “Because selfishly, I just want to hear Drake on my own album.”

Drake’s Lyrics On “UUUGLY” Suggest Unfinished Business

Cabello’s reasoning was simple. She wanted to rebel against the parameters she’d set for herself on her previous albums. “I love that for me — it’s like that rebellious mood,” she explained. “Who says I can’t do that? It’s Drake talking his sh*t.” The singer confirmed that she will contribute background vocals to the interlude. It’s worth noting that the lyrics Cabello wrote down are combative in nature. The singer felt the need to clarify she wasn’t “beefin” with her fan because the lyrics imply their target is a phony. One can’t help but apply the context of Drake’s recent battle with Kendrick Lamar.

Drizzy claimed that he fed Kendrick Lamar false information about a daughter, which the latter went and used on “Meet the Grahams.” Drake never provided evidence of this set up, but it’s possible the lyrics in the “UUUGLY” interlude could be referring back to this incident. The rapper has eschewed conflict since he claimed he was embracing “summer vibes,” but it hasn’t resulted in successful music. The Sexyy Red duet “U My Everything” fell flat. Then there was the “Wah Gwan Delilah” debacle, in which Drake thought it was a good idea to cover Plain White T’s. Hopefully these Cabello collabs get him out of his funk.

Proof’s Son NASAAN Hints At Upcoming Eminem Collaboration

NASAAN had the unique experience of knowing Eminem as a child. The rapper’s father, Proof, was a member of D12 and one of Em’s best friends before his untimely passing. NASAAN has carried the torch for his father as an artist, but one thing he’s yet to do is link up with his father’s old friend. At least, until now. NASAAN recently sat down for an interview with Off the Porch, and revealed that he has multiple tracks ready to go with Eminem.

NASAAN was excited about the opportunity to work with a legend, but he didn’t want to jinx it. Em is known for being selective with his features, especially since the rollout for his new album, The Death of Slim Shady, has been so secretive. “We got some sh*t, we got some stuff,” NASAAN confirmed. “He sent me some stuff. I don’t want to speak on it too much — I be getting in trouble when I talk about they stuff. I ain’t gonna speak on it.” NASAAN may not have an official Eminem collab out yet, but the latter has had an enormous influence on his career. He even recreated an iconic moment between Eminem and Proof for his recent music video “Goated.”

NASAAN Didn’t Like Eminem’s Music As A Kid

The rapper told Off the Porch that he actually wasn’t a fan of Em or D12 when he was a kid. It was once he got older that he developed an appreciation for what the group (and his dad) accomplished. “I feel like I’ve known the n**ga forever,” he admitted. “I think I started growing an appreciation for him as I got older ’cause it’s like, I never was a super fan of their music.” The main reason why was setting. NASAAN moved to Atlanta after Proof’s death, so it took him a while to get reacclimated to the grittier Detroit sound.

D12 was worlds away from what was happening in the ATL circa 2005. “Like I said, I grew up in Atlanta,” the rapper noted. “So I think when I started building taste, my palate was a little bit different. So when I got like 14, 15, I kind of got into they stuff. And I was like, ‘Oooh, this n**ga really rap.’” NASAAN also told Detroit Metro Times that he tried to escape his father’s legacy, before ultimately coming around to it and embracing it. “My father’s legacy was something I ran from and shied from for so long,” he admitted. “I didn’t want people to think I got sh*t handed to me or wanna be my friend for different reasons.” Things have come full circle thanks to Slim Shady.

C Stunna & Real Boston Richey Coast Over An Ominous Beat On “Lose Control”

Those two gentlemen are C Stunna and Real Boston Richey and they have recently collaborated on a track called “Lose Control”. This is the former’s second release of the year, and it follows up on “Curtis Jackson”, which dropped in April. What is even better is that C Stunna is coming through with a new album very soon.

2021 was the last time we got a new tape from him, which was called Stone Cold Stunna. It was nearly a total solo project outside of one track. 2020 saw him drop his first two LPs, Stunna 4 President and then Stunna Season prior to that. So, this has certainly been a long time coming for someone who is still looking to make their mark.

“Lose Control” could have been a mixed bag. Even with the Florida connection, C Stunna and Real Boston Richey have never worked with one another. 03 Greedo Delivers His Signature Crooning On “Fine China”

Watts, California rapper and singer 03 Greedo definitely deserves more respect than he is already receiving. Some might find his rap style sleepy or too inaudible at times. However, to us, he gives off early Young Thug vibes. When Thugger was coming up in the early 2010s, at lot hip-hop heads were not taking a liking to his then unorthodox approach. However, over the course of his career, he is become of the most influential figures of the modern era. Greedo will probably never get the same love as the Georgia native. But he is definitely a pioneer of the rapping/singing delivery in our eyes. Helping the veteran is his consistency, as he always has some project or single ready to go.

Just several hours ago, 03 Greedo released another loosie to Soundcloud and YouTube called “Fine China”, continuing his hot streak. His versatile style has lent his talents to some fire collaborations this year. He most recently and surprisingly appeared on Mach-Hommy’s latest record #RICHAXXHAITIAN on the title song and it is a summer bop. Additionally, he got into his more aggressive bag on Maxo Kream’s single “R.I.C.O”.
