Drake Shows Love To J Cole After Being Referenced In New Song

Drake and Kendrick Lamar have been the dominant rap story of 2024. For good reason. They are the two defining artists of their generation, both in terms of acclaim and success. Drake and J Cole are a similarly fascinating story, though. The duo have been working together since 2010, and they reunited on the hit single “First Person Shooter” in 2023. You know, the one that ignited the whole “Big Three” war to begin with. J Cole ducked out of the war, leaving Drake to go at Kendrick Lamar on his own. Cole said as much on his new song, “Port Antonio.” And Drake seemingly listened.

J Cole dropped “San Antonio” out of the blue on October 9. Fans were excited to get new music, but no one could have predicted the lyrical topics that Cole takes on. He addresses the “Big Three” beef head on, and even calls out Drake by name during one of his verses. He makes it clear that he doesn’t dislike the 6 God, and acknowledges how much help he’s given him in his career. “They say I’m picking sides, don’t you lie on me, my n**ga,” J Cole spits. “The start of another war, hey Drake, you’ll always be my n**ga. I ain’t ashamed to say you did a lot for me, my n**ga.” The Toronto rapper seemingly respected what Cole had to say. He liked the Instagram post that initially uploaded the song.

Drake Liked J Cole’s “Port Antonio” Post On IG

The timing of the shout out is interesting. Drake recently made headlines for less than stellar reasons. He made an appearance at a public event in Toronto, and proceeded to talk about how those he considered friends have stabbed him in the back. “My real friends are definitely in the building,” the 6 God explained to the crowd. “You’re going to come to a point in life where people you thought were friends, or people you thought were close to you, switch up.” Based on the fact that J Cole not only apologized for dissing Kendrick Lamar, but proceeded to work with several of Drake’s enemies, it’s safe to assume he is among the fake friends Drake mentioned.

J Cole spent the rest of the song explaining why he didn’t want to beef with Drake and K. Dot. In his estimation, he didn’t want to be remembered for ragging on people he considered peers. He also was opposed to digging up dirt on people he’s known well for years. “Jermaine is no king,” he raps. “If that means I gotta dig up dirt. And pay the whole team of algorithm bot n**gas just to sway the whole thing on social media, competing for ya favorable memes.” Here’s hoping J Cole’s olive branch is enough to mend things between him and Drake.

J Cole Breaks Silence On Drake And Kendrick Lamar Beef In New Song

J Cole caught a lot of flack for his handling of the Big Three beef. He dropped a diss record against Kendrick Lamar, then took it back. He took it off streaming platforms, and apologized to the rapper during Dreamville fest. Fans didn’t know what to do. Cole was criticized for not having the stuff to complete with Lamar and Drake. It didn’t help that he followed up the whole fiasco with a bizarrely horrible verse on Cash Cobain’s “Grippy.” Don’t worry, though. J Cole is back to clear things up.

J Cole dropped a new song titled “Port Antonio” on October 9. The only warning he gave ahead of time was that he cleared his Instagram. He wiped everything he’d posted before, and kicked off what looks to be a new era with an electric single. “Port Antonio” is a quality listen through and through, but the verse that has turned the most heads has to do with Drake and Kendrick Lamar. He sets the record straight on why he sat the whole conflict out. “I pulled the plug because I seen where that was about to go,” he rapped. “They wanted blood, they wanted clicks to make they pockets grow.”

J Cole Claims Drake And K. Dot Battled For ‘Clicks’

J Cole saying that would have been enough to quiet fans. But he kept going. The Dreamville veteran said that he didn’t want to lose friends over a beef, and prioritized his personal life over his professional life. “I wouldn’t have lost the battle, dog, I would’ve lost a bro,” he asserted. “I would’ve gained a foe, and all for what?” It gets deeper. J Cole proceeds to criticize Drake and Kendrick Lamar for digging up dirt on each other. He felt that it was beneath two artists who are held in such high regard. By him and by the fans. If digging up dirt is what it takes to wear the crown, he doesn’t want it.

“Jermaine is no king, if that means I gotta dig up dirt,” the rapper asserted. “And pay the whole team of algorithm bot n**gas just to sway the whole thing on social media, competing for ya favorable memes.” Cole has gone out of his way to emphasize the quality of his music in recent weeks. His guest verses on songs by ASAP Rocky and Tee Grizzley have fans once again questioning whether he’s the best of the Big Three. “Port Antonio” is going to add fuel to the fire. It will also be fascinating to see and hear if the other rappers involved, Drake and Dot, respond. Both men are expected to drop projects before the end of the year.

J Cole Leaves No Stone Unturned On Blistering New Single “Port Antonio”

J Cole has been setting the table for a proper return. He absolutely skated on the guest verses he gave out to ASAP Rocky, Daylyt and Tee Grizzley. Sources close to the rapper hyped up his upcoming album, The Fall Off. And now, we finally have a buzz single. J Cole wiped his Instagram on October 9, before he dropped the surprise release “Port Antonio.” Like most fans can guess, “Port Antonio” is a dense, stellar showcase for J Cole and his lyrical abilities. It makes no attempts to appeal to commercial audiences, and instead assures listeners that the “Big Three” member isn’t going anywhere.

“Port Antonio” is a buzz single in the vein of “Lion King on Ice” or “The Climb Back.” J Cole absolutely rips through each of his verses, delivering dazzling wordplay over an instrumental that is subtly catchy. He also takes haters to task for doubting he had the ability to bounce back from the K. Dot situation. “Jealous n**gas wanna know just how my rhymes blew. Mano y mano, I’m bout, I’m you times two,” he spits. “Now I’m bougie, I done out grew the fountain blue. But never forgot the spot where I developed my block.” It’s unclear whether “Port Antonio” will be on The Fall Off, but it clearly marks the start of a brand new era. An era that will have other rappers scrambling to catch up.

Tee Grizzley & Fridayy Are Mentally Strong On “I Know”

Tee Grizzley was one of few more mainstream names to come through with a new album this past weekend. Post Traumatic, his 12th overall project, has features from G Herbo, Tink, J. Cole, Mariah the Scientist, YTB Fatt, Future, and more. A lot of the guests laid down some rock-solid performances, especially Cole’s, which has easily been one of this project’s most revisited tracks. In just its short time being out, it’s already raked in over 7,000,000 streams on Spotify.

However, something we have come to learn about Post Traumatic is that we have to like some of the more “unsung” collaborations. One of them is “I Know,” a team-up between Tee Grizzley and R&B talent Fridayy. This is one of the most personal offerings from the 24-songs and it’s an empowering one at that. Both artists perform passionately about having grit and toughness through all of life’s struggles. Maintaining a positive outlook is the overarching message here and it shines through thanks to the effective writing from Tee and Fridayy.

Drake And Chino Pacas’ Anticipated Collab Finally Gets A Release Date

Drake has proved himself to be an evergreen artist because he can do any style. He’s scored hits in different languages and with different sounds. And he’s going to prove that he still can it with his new collab. Drake is going to appear on the debut album by Mexican artist Chino Pacas. We’ve heard that these two have been working together for months now, but October 8 finally brought the details that we’ve all been waiting for. The song is titled “Modo Capone,” and it will appear on Chino’s new album, Que Sigan Llegando Las Pacas.

“Modo Capone,” along with the rest of the album, will drop on Friday, October 18. The song will mark the first full Spanish-language collab that Drake has had since 2018. He appeared on the smash Bad Bunny single “MIA.” Bunny returned the favor, appeared on “Gently” from Drake’s last album, but most of the 6 God’s verse was in English. Drake has been a huge supporter of Chino Pacas in 2024. Back in March, the rapper walked out at a Houston rodeo with a Pacas song playing in the background. Drake currently lives in Texas, so it was only a matter of time before they linked up.

Drake Allegedly Plans To Sign Chino Pacas

Drizzy has a long history of working with artists he likes for a couple songs. Bad Bunny is one such example. Chino Pacas is seemingly a different story, though. JOP, a member of the Mexican group Fuerza Regida, claimed that Pacas is signed to their Street Mob label. That being said, he alleged that Pacas was in talks with Drake to sign a one album deal with the label PFL. If PFL doesn’t sound familiar, it’s because it has yet to really launch. JOP stated that Drake and OVO member Chubbs are planning to launch the label ASAP, and bring on Pacas as their very first artist.

It remains to be seen whether the album deal, or PFL will come to fruition. That’s okay, though. Drake and Chino Pacas are coming together, along with Fuerza Regida, on a song. It’s been a long time coming, and it’ll be interesting to hear the 6 God apply his musical sensibility to a regional Mexican sound. He also has a collab album with PARTYNEXTDOOR in the works. He announced the album back in August. That said, he stated that it’s still very much on a way during a recent appearance at a Toronto event.

Deante’ Hitchcock Is Looking To “STEP WIT IT” On His New Single

Deante’ Hitchcock may not be a big voice in the ultra-competitive Atlanta rap scene, but he sure is a damn good one. He’s extremely talented and also loves to work in different settings. What we mean is that he’ll freestyle, drop a single, feature, or album, or perform with bands/other musical groups. He can really do it all and it’s kind of a shame that he doesn’t get as much attention as a Future or Young Thug. In addition to being extremely gifted, he’s also a great ambassador for the genre. He was one of the few MC’s to show Isaiah Rashad support back when some homosexual sex tapes leaked. “Yall acting like who cuz f*** make you nut. @isaiahrashad you still a solid n**** my boi,” he wrote. Overall, there’s not much to nitpick on him and we love listening to what he’s got to offer.

In this case, we are bumping this “brand-new” joint from Deante’ Hitchcock, “STEP WIT IT.” We say “brand-new” because he actually put this on YouTube about a month ago. However, just hours ago today, Deante’ officially released it on DSPs. This single comes during a pretty dry time for him, as this is just his second solo drop of 2024. Back in June, Hitchcock gave us some introspective vibes with “On The Edge.” He’s been on a few other tracks with more lowkey talent too, but other than that, he’s remained on the down low. But he’s looking to reintroduce himself a little on this more energetic and braggadocious cut, “STEP WIT IT.” His expressive and effortless flows, matched with the funky, bouncy, and soulful saxophone-backed beat are all a load of fun. Give it a listen with the link below.

Trippie Redd Jokes That He’s Being Held Hostage By KSI After Collab Single

KSI is not anybody’s favorite rapper. An entertaining streamer and YouTuber? Sure. A lyricist? Absolutely not. KSI has been trying to launch a music career for years. His new single, however, “Thick of It,” might be his worst release yet. He has ruthlessly clowned by fans and influencers alike for his Ed Sheeran-like bars and awkward delivery. The other common talking point among fans is theories as to how KSI got a guest verse from a real rapper like Trippie Redd. Well, Redd decided to weigh in on October 7, but it did not make KSI look any better.

Trippie Redd decided to pile on KSI and the song. He posted the song with a caption claiming that he was kidnapped and forced to spit a verse. “I was held hostage to do this,” he stated. Redd doubled down on the absurd claim by telling fans that he was still being held captive by KSI, and only they can help him get free. “If this doesn’t hit 20 million the first month,” he said. “KSI won’t let me go. Please free me.” Trippie Redd has never taken himself too seriously, though. There wasn’t many other ways to promote a song that has been universally clowned. Drake has even given his two cents on “Thick of It.”

Trippie Redd Wants The Song To Get 20 Million Views

Drake, who previously worked with Trippie Redd on the song “Betrayal,” fired shots in the comment section of an Adin Ross stream. He jokingly told Ross to stop playing whatever he had on and thrown KSI’s new single on instead. “Play KSI new banger for the max,” the 6 God wrote. Trippie Redd knows most of the hate is being directed at KSI, in particular. That said, the rapper has struggled to catch a break, in terms of positive feedback on his recent output.

Trippie Redd teamed up with Machine Gun Kelly for the collab EP Genre: Sadboy in March. Nobody seemed to like it. Many called it out for having sloppy music and so-so lyricism. Fans didn’t love Redd’s previous solo release, A Love Letter to You 5, either. Fans absolutely hated the 2023 album. Many pointing out that Trippie Redd’s music is sounding increasingly stale and made for the lowest common denominator. Hopefully the KSI debacle is a wake up call.

Drake Mocks KSI’s “New Banger” On Adin Ross’ Livestream

Drake is as terminally online as the rest of us, so it’s not much of a surprise that he saw the outrageous reaction to KSI’s new song, “Thick Of It” featuring Trippie Redd. A lot of people clowned this new release for a variety of reasons, and it seems like the 6ix God wants to join in on the fun. Moreover, he recently left a comment on Adin Ross’ recent livestream on Kick, asking the moderators to “play KSI new banger for the max.” When the song played, Ross couldn’t help but joke about the mods’ immediate efforts to please Drizzy. “Yo, mods, so Drake tells you to jump off a bridge, you’re going to jump off of a bridge. Are y’all some d**k-suckers?” he expressed.

Ironically enough, we wonder if Drake has shown love to KSI before, as the rapper and YouTuber might now feel exactly how the Toronto superstar does. “You’re going to come to a point in life where people you thought were friends or people you thought were close to you, they might switch up,” Aubrey recently ranted at Toronto’s Nostalgia party. “They might try to move funny with you. They might stab you in the back, they might do a lot of things to you. You’ll come to that realization, wherever you’re at in life. You’ve probably been there and you’ll be there again, that’s how life is. But look, sometimes, it’s you and you alone by yourself. Sometimes it’s you alone with your thoughts.”

Drake Seems To Clown KSI’s “Thick Of It”

But Drake’s comments towards other rappers aren’t just playful and mocking: they can also be quite petty and combative. He recently took to his Instagram Story to post a picture of Solange after her elevator fight with Jay-Z, further fueling rumors that he and Hov are beefing.

Meanwhile, Drake doesn’t take jokes at his expense in the same way. Fashion Nova recently took down their “BBL Drizzy” Halloween costume, and while we don’t know for sure if this was his doing, it’s not a ridiculous presumption. We’ll see what other online shenanigans The Boy chooses to chime into or mock…

Rising Chicago Drill Teen MC STAR BANDZ Recruits Veeze For Remix Of Hit “Yea Yea”

In one of the hottest corners of hip-hop, a new star is being born. 16-year-old Chicago drill femcee, STAR BANDZ, is making quite the name for herself in a short period. She launched her professional career in 2022 at 14(!) and since then, her small catalog has accumulated tens of millions of streams already. One of her tracks that is responsible for this immediate growth is her viral March single, “Yea Yea”. While it expectedly suffers from some mixing issues –especially on the vocals–, it’s an impressive display of energy and blistering flows. Her youthful confidence has grabbed the attention of multiple big players in the industry such as Kehlani, Chance the Rapper, G Herbo, and more.

STAR BANDZ can now add Detroit MC Veeze to that growing list of supporters because their remix of “Yea Yea” is here now. The song doesn’t lose any of her electrifying and animated verses. Instead, it just plops in a solid verse from the new kid on the block in the Midwest. This is arguably her biggest collaboration to date, unless you factor in her opening for Luh Tyler’s Mr. Skii tour. STAR BANDZ is like that and we are excited for her bright future in rap, as well as in the competitive Chicago scene.

2hollis Drops New Single “gold” Ahead Of Tour With Ken Carson

2hollis is a singer/rapper from Chicago. He released his debut album White Tiger in 2022, and his third album Boy came out this past August. More recently, 2hollis is opening for Ken Carson on his Chaos tour. The North American leg of Carson’s tour begins on October 12. As 2hollis prepares to serve in a supporting role for the next six weeks, he unveiled his latest single “glow” on Friday. “gold” is not a traditional hip-hop song by any means. It borrows quite heavily from the hyperpop sound, which has been increasingly popular in the last five years thanks to acts like 100 gecs and Charli XCX. It also borrows from the rage sound, which acts like the aforementioned Carson are popularizing.

“gold” is a catchy track, with 2hollis delivering a quick verse. The track has a lot of repetition, and the hook is sure to get stuck in a listener’s head on recurring listens. As he continues to get his name out there, more people are going to be checking out for his music. It is a good strategy for him to release a new single now. The tour with Ken Carson will be the most high-profile performances of his young career. Carson is a star in the making in his own right, but he is further along that road than 2hollis is, and Carson fans who are not already familiar will probably gravitate to 2hollis’ music since they’re in a similar lane. Check out the new single below.
