Madlib & Karriem Riggins Join Forces For New Song “Stomping Gamay”

Madlib and Karriem Riggins recently teamed up to announce their new album under their joint project Jahari Massamba Unit. The album, YHWH Is Love, is slated for release on March 1, 2024 via Law of Rhythm. The 14-track LP will follow the duo’s first album as Jahari Massamba Unit, Pardon My French, which they unveiled back in 2020.

To give listeners a taste of what’s to come, the drummer and producer delivered the album’s lead single, “Stomping Gamay.” Groovy and ethereal, the nearly five-minute-long track has certainly managed to muster fans’ excitement for the upcoming release. If it compares to the musical voyage they’ve taken listeners on so far, it’s safe to say it’ll quickly become a fan favorite.

Madlib & Karriem Riggins Announce New Jahari Massamba Unit Album

As for the duo’s creative process, Riggins reportedly delivers his drum loops to Madlib, who adds his own instrumentation and more into the mix. “Our voices together are a collage of everything that we love,” Riggins told Joel Biswas for Passion Of The Weiss in 2021. “Trying to add onto the art or the music that we study.”

Their Jahari Massamba Unit project is far from the only creative endeavor Madlib and Riggins have embarked on as of late, however. Last year, Riggins teamed up with Common and Patrick Warren for the soundtrack of the Netflix series Mo. Madlib’s dropped various collaborative projects throughout the year. His most recent full-length release was his collaborative album with Mayhem Lauren and DJ Muggs, Champagne For Breakfast, which the trio shared in April. Madlib also dropped a full-length solo project, Sound Ancestors, in January of 2021. What do you think of Madlib and Karriem Riggins’ new Jahari Massamba Unit song? Will you be adding “Stomping Gamay” to your winter playlist? Are you looking forward to their new Jahari Massamba Unit album, YHWH Is Love? Big Hit, Hit-Boy & Benny The Butcher Are “Speaking In Codes” On Fiery New Song

Big Hit just dropped his debut album The Truth Is In My Eyes, a 17-track offering executive-produced by his son, Hit-Boy. Moreover, it’s a lavish, hardened, compelling, and above all engaging project with a lot of heart, grit, and palpable emotion behind it. Of course, it’s also a stellar hip-hop offering with biting lyricism, some clever wordplay, and honest, vulnerable reflections on many tough topics. As far as highlights, though, one particular track really captured our ear and holds some of the catchiest and most impactful material. Furthermore, Hit seeks assistance from none other than Benny The Butcher on the track “Speaking In Codes.”

Both of them have dexterous and hard-hitting verses about street life, the escape from it, and their place within the rap game. In addition, the beat that they ride over has a lot of classic rap embellishments to it, like the crisp, mid-temp, yet soulfully trap-inspired drums, plus some gorgeous instrumental samples like shimmering keys. However, we can’t talk about The Truth Is In My Eyes without mentioning some other guests on here. Snoop Dogg offers Big Hit some words of advice on “Shoppin’ Monster,” and others include The Alchemist, Mozzy, and Jay Worthy. But what makes “Speaking In Codes” so special is just how relentless each MC is on here, and that makes it a thrilling ride from start to finish.

After all, the latter and the former’s son have worked a lot together in the past, and they even have a lot more work together coming soon on the Griselda affiliate’s upcoming new album, Everybody Can’t Go. What’s more is that the father-son duo’s already put out great work in the past, so to see that skill here is also a treat. There are a lot of rappers who are leaving a huge impression on people this year. Two of those are Luh Tyler and Latto. Both of them are very young and fairly new to the game. But, they are figuring out how to become stars very quickly.

Latto played a huge part in Jung Kook’s song “Seven” becoming the fastest song to one billion streams in Spotify history. Additionally, she dropped one of the rowdiest bangers of the year with “Put In On Da Floor” and its sequel with Cardi B. As For Luh Tyler, his idiosyncratic raspy and low-pitch flow has been becoming a trend in hip-hop. He is been gaining more and more notoriety with more established names as the months go by.

Lil Yachty’s Label Concrete Boys Assemble For Some “MO JAMS”

Lil Yachty might be this year’s hip-hop MVP. Even with artists like Travis Scott, Nicki Minaj, Drake, Lil Wayne, and others dropping this year, Lil Boat still might be on top. His Let’s Start Here. venture was an unexpected but successful, psych-rock attempt. Additionally, his singles such as “Strike (Holster)” and “The Secret Recipe” have also been well received.

It truly feels as if he can do no wrong right now. Now, his entertainment label, Concrete Boyz (also Concrete Boys), is ramping up as of late. Yachty has been signing artists and developing some fun talent. In fact, they have just come out with a new single and music video called “MO JAMS.”

Juice WRLD, Eminem, And Benny Blanco Release Powerful Song About Addiction With “Lace It”

Wow. Not many were expecting this. Juice WRLD, Eminem, and producer benny blanco have just stunned the music world. Back in 2020, the legendary artists from Chicago and Missouri united (in a posthumous manner) for “Godzilla.” That track calls Music To Be Murdered By home. However, this single, fresh off the presses may we add, belongs to Juice and his team.

All three have just come together for “Lace It,” presumedly the second single from Jarad Higgins’ last album, The Party Never Ends. According to the Genius page, there is also an unreleased song with Kid Cudi, “All Life Long (Good Time),” that will land on it. There is no release date for the LP but is expected sometime next year. On the annotation for “Lace It,” the single was supposed to be released on Friday, December 15. However, there were issues with the legal team.

Then, Juice’s co-manager, Lil Bibby sent this message out the same day of the initial drop date on Instagram. He said, “200 phone calls to get this song to y’all!! Hope you appreciate it cuz I hate talking that much…. The Party Never Ends coming soon!! Big Thank you to Eminem and Benny on this one!! Let the Party Start.” The song has nearly 100,000 views on YouTube in its first two hours and there is good reason for that. It is a very deep cut about struggling with drug addiction, which as we well know, took Juice’s life at the young age of 21. Juice’s final lyrics are very chilling and emotional but also have us excited for his last body of work. “Me? I can never ever die, can never ever die.”

What are your initial thoughts on this brand-new single, “Lace It,” by Juice WRLD, Eminem, and benny blanco? Is this the better of the two collaborations between Juice and Eminem? DDG Drops Catchy Club Ready Single “She Don’t Play”

Since 2016, DDG has been committing his focus to his budding rap career. Unfortunately, he does not possess a signature sound yet. At this point, it may or may not be too late to see if anything truly big comes out of this venture. However, he does have the money to throw at great producers and other established artists to bring extra hype to a track.

This year, the Pontiac, Michigan native put out an album back in the middle of July. Maybe It’s Me… is a sort of sequel to It’s Not Me It’s You from 2022. It is a bit of a letdown when a fourth of your record is renditions of “Im Geekin.” However, DDG is still looking to create hits when he can.

Listen To “She Don’t Play” By DDG

That is where “She Don’t Play” comes into vision. The production features heavy hitters such as Hitmaka and OG Parker. It has a catchy groove and hook. But, outside of that, it comes across as a generic club-ready rap track. This may be a reason why so many artists within the genre have spoken up about the lack of originality lately.

What are your initial thoughts on this brand-new single, “She Don’t Play,” by DDG? Is this the best track that he has put out this year, why or why not? If not, do you think this is a reason why some people are getting tired of listening to hip-hop nowadays? Do you think this will land on a forthcoming record? Could this be a song about his girl, Halle Bailey? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. Killer Mike Adds Damian Marley For Reggae Flip Of “RUN”

After taking a break with Run The Jewels and El-P, Killer Mike decided to make a big comeback on his own this year. In fact, it had been an 11-year return in the making. His last solo effort was released on May 15, 2012 with R.A.P. Music. That was until June 16 of this year, when Mike unleashed perhaps his best record to date, with MICHAEL. It has done so well for the Georgia legend that is up for a handful of GRAMMY nominations.

It is easy to see why it could win Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance categories. There are so many fantastic records on this LP. “SCIENTISTS & ENGINEERS” is the key player here, but “RUN” with Young Thug is another fun one. The great additional tracks and remixes have also helped bolster the legitimacy around Mike’s self-titled tape.

Mike has redone “MOTHERLESS,” “DOWN BY LAW,” and now “RUN.” For the latter, he has brought on the reggae legend, Damian Marley. This new version keeps a similar rhythm to the original but relies more on drums and horns. If you pay close attention the beat’s pattern has a slight hint of Thugger’s “Wyclef Jean” from his 2016 project JEFFERY. You can check out the music video above.

What are your initial thoughts on this brand-new remix, “RUN (Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley Version),” by Killer Mike and Damian Marley? Do you prefer this rendition, or the original with Young Thug? Logic, Conway The Machine, And RiFF RAFF Deliver A Strong First Outing Together On “Intergalactic Icons”

Three of the most prolific rappers in the game have just come together for their first-ever collaboration. That is right, Logic, Conway the Machine, and RiFF RAFF have just combined their talents for a single. It might be hard to believe, but this is indeed a real thing. Let us break down how these three did together.

Honestly, this is a very solid effort all around. While Logic and Conway make sense, RiFF could have stuck out like a sore thumb on this cut. He is not known for his lyricism, but rather for his wit and comedic tone. Sure, he can drop a grimier track here and there, however, this is not his usual lane. But, he succeeds here and then some.

He utilizes a fun color theme woven into his verse. He describes the hues of different expensive items, adding a lot of character to what could have been a typical flexing set of bars. Conway and Logic bring nice rhyme schemes and all three performances sound great with 6ix’s hypnotic boom-bap beat. You can stream the track above, and we highly recommend you give it a try.
