Kanye West Claims The “Elimination Of Drake” Is Energizing Himself And Others

Kanye West is someone who has beefed with Drake a ton in the past. Although he had seemingly made nice with the rapper thanks to the tutelage of J Prince, he is back to dissing the megastar. Overall, Ye had the rap game talking this weekend thanks to his verse on the “Like That” remix. Throughout this new version of the song, he takes shots at both J. Cole and Drizzy. Of course, Cole has dissed Kanye in the past, so this recent shot felt like one that was a bit overdue. It also led to some pretty hilarious memes on social media, but that is neither here nor there.

This was all released around the same time that Kanye West was doing an interview with none other than Justin Laboy. During this interview, Ye spoke up about the “Like That” remix and what made him want to do it. As he notes, Future was the first person to call him about getting on the remix. Moreover, he noted that the recent attacks on Drake are something that has everyone “energized.” More specifically, the artist said, “Everybody is very, very excited about the elimination of Drake.”

Kanye West Joined The Party Recently

These are some strong words, and it goes to show that there is a bit of a deep hatred for Drake right now. That said, the former actor is not backing down right now. He dropped “Push Ups” where he took aim against Kendrick. Subsequently, he delivered the “Taylor Made Freestyle” which some believe could be a knockout punch. Only time will tell whether or not Lamar gets back involved, especially with so many artists in the ring right now.

Let us know what you think of the brewing war between Drake and the rest of the rap game, in the comments section down below. Do you think that this beef is starting to become unfair? Will Kendrick Lamar end up responding anytime soon? Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. We will continue to keep you informed on all of your favorite artists and their upcoming projects.

Jorja Smith, Lucky Daye & RealestK Fill Our New “R&B Season” Playlist Update: Stream

Another week, another R&B Season playlist update to round up the best of what the genre and its adjacent sounds had to offer this week as far as new releases. While we don’t have too much to talk about this time around, we wanted to focus on three cuts that really stood out among the rest of the pack. Moreover, the first of these is Jorja Smith’s reimagined version of her falling or flying cut, “Greatest Gift.” This time around, the percussion takes a bit of a softer approach, and it definitely feels a little more acoustic as far as the mix goes. In any case, it’s a curious comparison and one that doesn’t take away anything from the original while making this reimagining its own highlight with a killer piano solo.

Next up on our R&B Season playlist update is the latest single from Lucky Daye, “HERicane.” In contrast to the last track we talked about, this is a much funkier, more colorful, more vocally dynamic, and more summery offering that previews hotter months quite well. It’s got that disco charm despite a pretty stylistically different approach to the drums in particular, but it’s able to evoke an old-school sound without sounding too campy or dated. Overall, it just sounds really crisp and rich thanks to a lot of great interplay between its many instrumental and vocal elements.

HNHH R&B Season Playlist: Stream

Finally, we wanted to shout out the new single from RealestK, “Let Me Go.” What starts off as a sultry piano ballad eventually introduces those slow, minimal, and woozy rap-inspired percussion that sets the mood effortlessly. Vocally, this song is incredibly hazy, which can sometimes work to its detriment when the falsettos start to hit, but there’s also plenty of added atmosphere through background singing that makes up for it a bit. For those of you that want your contemporary R&B to stick to the most current traditions, this one’s probably for you.

Meanwhile, we wanted to ask what your favorite release of these was, as well as what else we missed this week that’s worth some praise. Let us know your thoughts and recommendations down in the comments section below. Also, if you haven’t heard any of these songs or our R&B Season playlist before, make sure to check it out above. As always, come back to HNHH for more news from your favorite artists and the latest releases around the clock.

FTO Sett Doesn’t Want You To “Duck No Smoke” On New Single

Sett, who also goes by FTO Sett, is a Memphis, Tennessee rapper who we have not covered for all the best reasons. He was recently arrested in late February for a connection to a drug and firearms case. On top of that his bond was revoked so he is still awaiting his fate. His next court date was for March 5 and there was no clear-cut reason at the time of the report as to why his bond was rescinded.

The last time we spoke about FTO Sett musically was for a collaboration with Lil Baby called “Can’t Be F***ed With.” That hit streaming back in mid-January. As for 2023, the still budding rapper delivered his debut tape with 29 tracks and a host of features on Life of a SlimeCrook. In the present, regardless of his legal issues, FTO is looking to feed his fans.

G Perico Brings Tiny Doo, Steelz, & Wallie The Sensei For “G Slim’s Revenge”

G Perico, Los Angeles, California rapper is back with a new album this weekend called G Slim’s Revenge. For him, this is his first record of 2024 and he still has a long way to go if he wants to duplicate his 2023 output. He was on a tear during that time, releasing three albums, including one with Gangsta Grillz, Hot Shot. On G Slim’s Revenge, G Perico is bringing nothing but groovy, sun soaked, bouncy bangers.

Up until the project’s release, the now 36-year-old as of April 3 put out two promotional singles. Those began to rollout not too long ago actually. “Troll Patrol” saw its streaming debut on April 5. Then, “She Sexy” would be out just a week later on April 12. As for the feature department, its pretty slim.

But it makes sense due to the album’s 10-song tracklist and trim 22-minute runtime. On three of them, producer Steelz lays down beats for “How Will,” “Luxury” which also features Wallie the Sensei, and “Bang Bang.” The only other featured rapper you will find is Tiny Doo on “Throw It Up.” Be sure to check out G Perico’s G Slim’s Revenge on your favorite streaming platforms.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new album G Slim’s Revenge by G Perico? Is this his best record of his career, why or why not? What tracks are you gravitating toward right now and why? Kanye West Teases “More Coming Tonight,” Metro Boomin Reacts To His “Like That” Remix

Kanye West says he’s got “more coming tonight” after premiering his new “Like That” remix during an interview with Justin Laboy on The Download podcast on Saturday. He made the announcement in the replies to a meme he shared on Twitter which pokes fun at J Cole, who he dissed on the remix to Metro Boomin and Future’s hit song. “Y’all so out of sight, out of mind, I can’t even think of a Drake line,” West rapped. “Play J. Cole, get the p*ssy dry.”

Additionally, Metro Boomin posted a photo of himself in the studio with Kanye with the caption: “can’t stop won’t stop.” In the picture, West rocks a Sean Jean tank top while on the song, he raps: “Can’t Stop. Won’t Stop. I just f*cked your b*tch in a Sean John tank top.”

Kanye and Drake have had issues with one another for years at this point. Following the release of Kendrick Lamar’s verse on the original “Like That,” with which he disses Drake, Ye quickly spoke out on the feud. He ranted on Instagram: “EVERYONE KNOWS I WASHED KENDRICK ON NO MORE PARTIES IN LA. EVERYONE KNOWS I WASHED DRAKE AT THE FREE HOOVER CONCERT.” Check out his latest posts on Twitter below.

Kanye West Teases New Music

Metro has been collaborating with numerous artists who have had issues with Drake in recent weeks. He also dropped songs with The Weeknd, ASAP Rocky, and more that target the Toronto rapper. Drake responded with the song, “Push Ups,” last week. Be on the lookout for further updates on Kanye West on HotNewHipHop.

Drake & Rick Ross’ Beef Feeds Our New “Fire Emoji” Playlist Update: Stream

Things couldn’t be any hotter in hip-hop right now, so it’s a good thing that our Fire Emoji playlist update is here to round up the best of the best that rap music had to offer this week. Moreover, two huge releases on streaming over the past week form part of the talk of the town: the civil war between Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Rick Ross, Future, and so many more (even Ye is allegedly in the mix now with a possibly leaked “Like That” remix). Specifically, though, we wanted to shout out Drizzy’s “Push Ups” finally arriving on streaming services, as well as Rozay’s “Champagne Moments” with its quick response to that track “leaking” online.

But let’s forget about the beef for a second and… oh, wait, Breezy is in a feud with Quavo right now, too?! Well, regardless, his appearance alongside Travis Scott and Sexyy Red on Nicki Minaj’s “FTCU (Sleeze Mix)” doesn’t rope that into the track. Instead, all MCs provide pretty unique and great performances in their own right over this simple but effective beat courtesy of ATL Jacob and Southside. It’s probably the most straightforward banger on Fire Emoji this week, especially thanks to its star-studded nature.

HNHH Fire Emoji Playlist: Stream

Next on this playlist update is what might be the best pound-for-pound hip-hop drop this week. Heads I Win, Tails You Lose is a grimy, concise, and unsurprisingly impressive comeback album from Gangrene (comprised of producer/rapper The Alchemist and rapper/producer Oh No). With highlights like “Cloud Surfing” and killer features from Boldy James and more, the duo provides relentless rhyme schemes, vivid imagery, and a whole lot of confident bravado with one of the more old-school-sounding pallets that Uncle Al’s worked with for a minute. He’s capable of pretty much everything, so if you’re looking for some hearty helpings of beats and rhymes on Fire Emoji, we’d highly recommend this.

Finally, we wanted to shout out two other big singles with a lot of anticipation as to what will come from them. Headie One is coming out with a new project soon, and dropped the wavy but immediate single “Cry No More” with Stormzy and Tay Keith. Also, Cash Cobain is really hitting it big with his February single “Fisherr” with Bay Swag, and this virality has apparently led to an Ice Spice remix dropping very soon. Let us know what your favorite release on Fire Emoji was this week, as well as what else we missed, down in the comments below. Check it out above and, as always, check back in with HNHH for the latest great music drops around the clock.

Stove God Cooks & Stoupe Link For Intimidating “We Ballin Again”

Stove God Cooks is always impressive when he drops a new single or a feature. However, the underground New York rapper from Syracuse is someone we have been waiting on to drop a new album. It has been over four years since we got his debut project Reasonable Drought. Even then, it was not even a solo project. It was a collaboration with fellow underground New Yorker and lyricist Roc Marciano. But there is a ton of optimism that maybe some time this year, the Babygrande Records signee will come through with something truly spectacular. The reason why we think that is because of the steady stream of quality singles.

2024 has already been one of his most productive years since starting out in 2020. Stove God Cooks was essentially ready from the beginning with “Melo Chip and a Brick.” The excellent jazz rap cut with dirty horns courtesy of Conductor Williams, and the hungry rapping from SGC all amounted to something rewarding. Then, he came through with “Carbone,” with production from Stoupe on March 1.

Listen To “We Ballin Again” By Stove God Cooks & Stoupe

For “We Ballin Again,” Stove God’s latest offering, Stoupe joins him again. For us, we prefer this over “Carbone” because the instrumental is haunting, and Cooks’ bars are intimidating. He also delivers better flows with animated adlibs, and the awkward chorus is not there from “Carbone.” Be sure to run it up with the link above.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single “We Ballin Again” by Stove God Cooks and Stoupe? Is this his best song as of late, why or why not? Which element of the track did you find to be more enjoyable and why? Do you think he is getting ready for a new album soon? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Rowdy Rebel & Fetty Luciano Continue Their Joint Effort Series With “Splash Brothers 2”

Two of Brooklyn’s rap talents, Rowdy Rebel and Fetty Luciano, are reuniting for a new album Splash Brothers 2. Based on the title, this is indeed a sequel, and it follows up the original nearly a year later exactly. If you did not know, Fetty and Rowdy are close friends and affiliated with the collective GS9. So, if you were wondering why these two have such a close relationship, that is the loose backstory.

Both Fetty and Rowdy like to stay in the trap and drill lanes and you get plenty of those high energy moments here. However, if you saw our review of Splash Brothers 2, we had some issues with some lackluster effort on some of the tracks. The beginning of the record has its flashes of potential, but “2024” and “Pistons” suffer from poor mixing and attention to detail. Additionally, the features do a better job for the most part when they show up.

Listen To Splash Brothers 2 By Rowdy Rebel & Fetty Luciano

But overall, it is a decent offering, but maybe not as desirable as their first Splash Brothers tape. In terms of how each rapper got to this point, Rowdy was coming off a 2023 that saw him drop his solo album Back Outside and the Fetty collab tape. As for the former, he has only dropped three projects overall, and it is just his second since his 2018 debut Story To Tell. If you want to support Splash Brothers 2, check out the links above.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new album Splash Brothers 2 by Rowdy Rebel and Fetty Luciano? Is this the best duo rap album of the year, why or why not? Skilla Baby Ramps Up The Energy & Violence On “Free Big Meech”

I get love in Detroit like Skilla Baby,” is the mood that the rapper should be in because “Free Big Meech” will give him plenty of praise. Skilla is back with a new solo single, which follows up “Plate” from February 2. However, he also been busy with the collaborations as of late too. In 2024, the 25-year-old MC has worked with CRASH RARRI, YN Jay, Sada Baby, Young Ra, Tavo Baby Big6, and Yung Miami. That latter team-up was a successful one for him, as “CFWM (Can’t F*** With Me)” was doing solid numbers when it dropped.

If there is there something to expect going into a Skilla Baby track, it is that you know you are going to get lot of wild energy. That is the case here too on “Free Big Meech.” There is plenty of street talk and violent bars to be had and it is all performed over a chilling trap beat. “Pistol whip a n**** with my blick and leave him cockeyed (Ha) / Put a ten on him, it ain’t s*** to get an opp fried (Ha).”

For Skilla, he has some big shoes to fill after an active 2023 campaign. He tied his record for albums released in a year with two with Controversy and We Eat The Most (Reloaded). Pretty soon he will be dropping his first record called THE COLDEST. In fact Genius says it will be dropping next Friday, April 26. Alleged features include Flo Milli, Mozzy, Moneybagg Yo, Rob49, G Herbo, DaBaby, and more.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single “Free Big Meech” by Skilla Baby? Is this one of his stronger releases as of late, why or why not? Where does he rank among the modern crop of Detroit rappers? Does this get you excited for his upcoming album THE COLDEST? Russ Leaves Off Two Pack “That’s My Girl & Tired”

When it comes to new music Fridays, there is an artist that you can almost always count on to drop every week. That would be Secaucus, New Jersey rapper and singer, Russ. The polarizing veteran just continues to churn out song after song and beat after beat. For this latest offering, Russ is actually giving us a two-pack called “That’s My Girl & Tired.”

If you have been keeping your ears to the ground about his recent output, you know that he has been going for more personal tracks. Some have talked about messed up relationships, other have seen Russ speak passionately about not folding and letting the devil take over your life. This time around, the themes are quite different, while also sticking to the formula as of late. “That’s My Girl” is an obvious deviation from what we have heard, as he goes for a raunchy pop rap/R&B crossover.

Listen To “That’s My Girl & Tired” By Russ

On this cut he is loving the intimacy he is sharing with this woman and it does give us some pretty outlandish bars. “P***y got lips so of course I’m gonna kiss it (Mwah)Is it shallow if I say I love the way you deepthroat me? (Haha) / We can use toys (Yeah), we on some grown s***” Then, on “Tired,” Russ is venting on the mic about things in life he is sick of dealing with or seeing in society. Every bar begins with “Tired of” before going into what he does not like. With this two-pack you are getting tongue in cheek and serious, so each side of Russ’ fan base should be happy with at least one of the two tracks.

What are your thoughts on these brand-new singles “That’s My Girl & Tired” by Russ? Are these some of his stronger releases as of late, why or why not? Which one of the two are you enjoying more? Do you think he is getting ready for a new album soon? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Quotable Lyrics From “That’s My Girl”:

I love it when you use your mouth as an alarm clock (Give me)
Doesn’t matter if I’m tired, I’ma see it through
Real men still wear pink and we eat it too
Good girl, look at you, go crazy (Go crazy)
Eyes on my when you swallow my babies (Look, look)
Put your hands behind your back (Back)
