Bas Drops Reflective Track “Khartoum” With Adekunle Gold

Paris-born and New York-raised rapper and singer Bas has not come out with a new album since 2018. However, that time appears to be coming to a close fairly soon. If you check out his Genius page, his forthcoming record looks to be due by December 31 of this year. The title of the project is also interesting.

We Only Talk About Real S*** When We’re F****d Up poses that this LP could talk about a lot of the worldwide issues going on. It is a fitting title as most people do not care or are unaware of the hardships and other catastrophes taking place every day. Bas has already given us three singles from this tape, including the summery track “Passport Bros” with Dreamville labelmate, J. Cole. This new one though refers to the civil war going on in Sudan and its capital, “Khartoum.”

However, he eventually came out and revealed that he just took a bit of time for himself. “I appreciate ya’ll showing concern but the missing narrative isn’t cool, especially knowing that people really do go missing everyday,” he wrote on social media. “I took a little time to myself to get back to my roots, but trust I’m all good. So, the budget is coming from me. […] I’m so excited to be doing something for the first time independent since it was just me and my momma. “JT Needs To Take The Offset Route” Fans Claim After City Girls Album Sales Revealed

Over the weekend, City Girls, AKA JT and Yung Miami released their new album RAW. The title stands for “Real A*s Wh*res” and the hard-hitting, sexually charged songs throughout the album live up to that title. While there are plenty of fans praising the album, that hasn’t translated into a great sales total. The album is projected to land somewhere between 6k and 8k sales in its first week. Those numbers are pretty disappointing for a pair whose previous album debuted in the top 30 of the Billboard 200.

Now, other fans are thinking they have the explanation. On in particular claimed that one half of the duo needs to go solo. “I love City Girls and don’t hate me for saying this.. But I think JT needs to take the Offset route,” their tweet reads. By “the Offset route” she means breaking off as a solo artist. Just this week the former Migos rapper debuted his feature-packed new album Set It Off in the top 5 of the Billboard 200 with impressive first week sales figures. Clearly, there are some fans out there claiming that JT could sell more albums as a solo artist than as a member of City Girls. Check out the tweet below.

Should JT Go Solo Instead?

Fans in the comments debated if a solo career would fix the issue. “Nah what happened was they needed more promo, they really didn’t have a song out that made you anticipate the album. Honestly they should have pushed it back,” one of the top comments reads. “Y’all want JT TO GO SOLO SO BAD BUT AINT GONE BUY HER SH*TTTT WHEN IT DROP,” another suggests.

JT may put the fan theories to test sooner rather than later. In an interview she did last month she mentioned specifically that she wanted to pursue solo work following the release of RAW. Do you think JT would sell more albums if she broke out as a solo artist? Let us know in the comment section below.

Calboy Teases New Album With “Chains Off (Freestyle)

Chicago rapper Calboy has had a rough couple of months due to legal issues with police. He has also called out plenty of his contemporaries, especially DaBaby. Furthermore, the artist was taken off a handful of rappers’ records, including Trippie Redd and Pop Smoke. Overall, he is not the most well-liked person in the industry, but he is looking for a fresh start. One way he is doing this is by forging his own path in the form of creating his own record label. He was recently a signee of RCA records. However, that is no more. Rumblings around this situation began around the first quarter of 2022 and it seems that Calboy has moved on.

Flaunt recently wrote a piece on Calboy and it centered around the release of his upcoming album. It will be called Unchained. However, there is no information on the release date. What we do know is that it will be 12 tracks and some of the themes and topics that will be covered. In the interview, Calboy says that it will focus on his public and private battles. Those will include artistic freedom, lingering grief, or industry feuds.

serpentwithfeet Drops Hot Club-Ready Banger “Damn Gloves” With Ty Dolla $ign And Yanga YaYa

Baltimore-born and currently residing and Los Angeles, serpentwithfeet has always been turning heads with his unique sounds. There are not many other artists like him right now and it is a shame he has not exploded in popularity. Maybe this latest single can reach more people because it is an absolute vibe. “Damn Gloves” features Ty Dolla $ign and South African artist, Yanga YaYa.

It is a dance-ready bop that is made for the late nights at the clubs. The pulsating EDM and R&B-like beat sets the mood instantly. On top of that, serpent and Ty’s lyrics are of hedonism and debauchery. It really is a great way to promote his thrid project, Grip.

New Music From Gunna & Turbo Coming This Friday: Listen To “Bachelor” Preview

The size of Gunna’s fanbase has gone through some dramatic changes in 2023. For starters, he was quickly labelled a snitch after taking a plea deal in the ongoing YSL RICO trial, leaving his longtime friend Young Thug behind in jail to fight for his freedom along with a handful of other defendants. Initially, it seemed as though the entire music industry had turned their back on the “Hot” hitmaker, but even without their support, he managed to turn heads with his a Gift & a Curse album in the spring.

That saw Gunna reflecting on the monotonous time he spent behind bars after his 2022 arrest. Since then, his approach to life seems to have totally changed, with health and wellness now being top priorities for the Southern artist. In addition to that, he’s been experimenting more musically as well, seemingly finding his bag in the Afrobeats genre. Everything that Wunna has shared with us lately has hit just right, leaving hip-hop heads hungry for more. Luckily, he previewed his next single, “Bachelor,” on Monday (October 23).

Gunna’s “Bachelor” Single Drops on October 27th

In the video above, Turbo (who’s responsible for producing the upcoming release), drives around blasting his work. “APPROVING FINAL MIX & MASTER [FOR] MY NEW SINGLE, ‘BACHELOR’ FEATURING @GUNNA,” he wrote in the caption. The single is set to debut on New Music Friday (October 27), marking yet another major accomplishment for the 30-year-old before the month is up. To begin October, his latest album was Certified Gold, and just days later, the LP’s most popular title, “fukumean” went Platinum. Friends were happy to celebrate Gunna and his success, and we’re sure those loyal to the multi-talent will do the same with his and Turbo’s new joint.

If today’s preview has you excited for what’s to come next for Gunna, be sure to show his other new release some love while you wait. Tobe Nwigwe Pays Homage To Pharrell’s Fashion Show With “MILANO FREESTYLE”

Texas artist and rapper Tobe Nwigwe has been a part of a lot of big events lately. The most recent one was around early August. NBA superstar point guard Stephen Curry put out a documentary on Apple TV called Steph Curry: Underrated. It shows how far the greatest shooter ever has come from the beginning of his basketball journey. Tobe was asked to make a song for the documentary. “Lil Fish, Big Pond” was the result of that and he continued to make more soundtrack songs.

Just a few months before that in May, Tobe and one of the greatest ever to do it, Nas, got together for a blockbuster. The Transformers series got its latest installment, Rise of the Beasts and both brought some extra magic to the film. However, maybe Tobe’s most proud moment might have come in September when he performed for his good pal Pharrell at the Milan fashion show for his Moncler line. You can find out more from Women’s Wear Daily (WWD).

Because it was such a big moment for him, the lyrics right off the bat show how appreciative he is for how far he has come. You can check it out with the YouTube video.
