Sleepy Hallow And TaTa Have A New Single “For You”

Jamaican-born and Brooklyn-raised rapper Sleepy Hallow grabs TaTa for a brand new single. The song, “For You,” is two minutes even and it features a chorus and verse from guest rapper TaTa. Sleepy comes in for the second verse only, surprisingly. However, he still puts on a nice performance when he does appear. This single seems to appear on the next project from Sleepy Hallow. Genius shows on their website the name and cover art, with the title being Boy Meets World.

The website says that it should be released on September 15. That means it will be Sleepy’s fourth studio album and first since 2021. The last project, Still Sleep? features his biggest hit “2055.” The song currently sits at a whopping 644 million plus streams on Spotify. This fourth single of 2023, “For You,” showcases the lane that Hallow is strongest in. His drill rap style mixed with emotional bars is prevalent once again.

The beat is very simple and typical drill fare. The lyrics talk a lot about suffering pain, losing love, and trying to find that inner confidence again. The sad guitar strings add to the dramatic tone. Furthermore, this is the first time these two artists have been on a track together. Lil Durk Pokes Fun At Sexyy Red On His Instagram Story

Sexyy Red has been the butt of a lot of jokes throughout the past week or so. Most recently, the up-and-coming rap star voiced her frustrations with people saying she looks like Atlanta legend Young Thug. While we can see why a woman would not like her looks to compared to a man’s appearance, it is still a funny thing to think about. In the interview, Red says, “Cuz no the f*** we do not look alike.” The video clip is hilarious as it shows her and Thug in a side-by-side comparison. However, Lil Durk is now getting in on the action.

Just over a week ago, Lil Durk tweeted out to his followers saying, “Feel like going on my feature run… I’m healed …. First stop sexy red second stop ytbFATT.” If you notice, the Chicago rapper spells Sexyy Red’s name wrong. Intentional or not, she did not take too kindly to that. She replied to his tweet, “Dang u gon spell my name wrong Lil Jerk ?” She included the crying laughing emoji with the disappointed face emoji. Subsequently, Durk thought it would be funny to continue the running gag. Let’s just say he succeeded in keeping the joke alive.

Durk shared an image to his Instagram story that shows a recording file for the remix to Red’s song “Hellcats SRTs.” The song appears on her sophomore album Hood Hottest Princess. Once again Durk pokes fun at her with the file reading “cexy reddd lol for calling me jerk.” The St. Louis rapper responded to the image on Twitter, “Ok lol luh derk got me lost for words right now.” It will be interesting to hear both artists on a song with some out-there lyrics from Red.

Earthgang Explore What Would Happen If They “Die Today” On New Single

Earthgang, the duo of Johnny Venus and Doctor Dot, are back with a new single. They’re continuing to follow up last year’s underrated gem GHETTO GODS, an album with a stacked feature list. Future, J. Cole, JID, Musiq Soulchild, Baby Tate, Lynae Vanee, CeeLo Green, Nick Cannon, and Ari Lennox all make appearances on the album. A few months after its release it got a deluxe version that added performances from Wiz Khalifa, Curren$y, Smino, and Blxckie. Now the duo are transitioning into a new era with their second single of 2023, “Die Today.”

The song is a bit more of a somber change of pace from the duo’s previous track. It sees the pair musing on what would happen if they died today, asking questions on the chorus like “would you kiss my face” or “give my cold heart away.” The more serious subject matter is nothing new for the pair who have often worn their emotions on their sleeves. The song also comes with an extended version that features a further instrumental outro heightening the emotion. Check out the song itself below.

Earthgang Get Personal Once Again

Earthgang’s previous new song “Bobby Boucher” was a team-up with fellow Spillage Village member Benji. The track paid tribute to Adam Sandler’s famous character of the same name in the film The Waterboy. Clearly, it was a fitting tribute, as Sandler himself gave his approval to the track’s accompanying music video.

Earthgang hasn’t been quiet this year. They’ve appeared as features on two other artists’ new songs. They teamed up with Forest Claudette back in March for a track called “Mess Around.” Later they joined Daya on a song by EDM outfit Snakehips called “Sometimes.” It was the second time they teamed up with Snakehips following their infectious 2021 link-up “Run It Up.” What do you think of Earthgang’s new song “Die Today”? Sexyy Red Dislikes Fans Saying She Looks Like Young Thug

While most celebs have to learn how to tolerate fan hate, there are still some things that can get under their skin. In a new interview, Sexyy Red is asked if there’s anything in particular that gets her heated. Her answer is pretty funny, claiming that she hates when fans tell her she looks like Young Thug. “Cuz no the f*ck we do not look alike.” The clip of the interaction that went viral provides a handy comparison between the two, showing that to some extent they kind of do look alike. Fans in the comments agreed.

“She literally do look like thugger tho,” reads the top comment on the post and many others agree. “Man she ain’t fooling nobody I know thug when I see him,” says one comment. “I never seen young thug n sexy redd in the same room before,” reads another. Sexyy Red is having a breakout 2023. Fans looking to catch her performing in person will have plenty of opportunities. First, they could see her on Drake and 21 Savage’s “It’s All A Blur” tour. Earlier this month she was named as an opener for the remaining dates on the tour. She also announced her first ever headlining tour taking off later this year. The “Hood Hottest Princess” tour begins in October and will make 22 different stops running until November.

Fans could expect more information from Sexyy Red soon. She’s bee teasing a remix of her song “SkeeYee” for weeks. Coi Leray Drops Her New EP “Blue Moon”

Coi Leray’s brand new EP Blue Moon is finally out on all streaming platforms. The project is just over 11 minutes long with five tracks and no features. A few days ago the star rapper and singer shared the meaning behind this quick effort. Her second album was not as well received as she might have hoped, so she decided to do what she does best. Coi Leray says, “The EP, I get deep, I get vulnerable. I got tired of “trying” new things and wanted to just do what I do BEST.”

She goes further saying, “I have a hard time with telling my story because I get wrapped up in the media narratives however Music is the best way for me to tell it. Sorry I can’t argue with y’all on the internet all day.” Things are definitely getting a little more personal this time and it shows on these five tracks. That feeling hits you like a ton of bricks right from the start with “Liquor and Weed.” The beat is very minimalistic with spacy drums, allowing to make way for Coi to spit about all of her internal thoughts on her career and the pain and struggle she has had to endure to get to where she is.

“It’s my life, my story, so why not let me tell it? I mean, Who knew I would would walking red carpets and stages with the same icons I listen to growing up.” Coi continues, “I’m just grateful to have come this far.” Those themes carry on throughout the duration of the EP, especially on “Still Dreaming” where she talks about wanting to shoot for the stars to live a fulfilling life every day. Overall it is a solid listen with messages that are sure to resonate with a lot of people. Additionally, Coi Leray dropped Blue Moon on the day the world can view the elusive blue supermoon. It happens when the pattern of days in a year means there are 13 full Moons instead of the usual 12.

Doja Cat Unveils Release Date And Album Cover For “Scarlet”

Doja Cat is giving out all the goods on her forthcoming album release. The 27-year-old rapper and singer is finally set to drop her fourth studio album, Scarlet on September 22. We are still unsure about how many tracks or features are going to make the project, but this is still exciting news. Doja has been dropping a lot of updates during this LP’s rollout. Just yesterday, August 29, she posted to her Instagram to show off the cover art for her new single, which will drop on Friday, September 1 with the title being “Demons.”

Before that, on August 27 Doja teased us with a sneak peek of the music video for “Demons” as well. Of course, fans have also been enjoying what appears to be a single for the album, “Paint The Town Red,” for nearly a full month. That song is almost up to 100 million streams. Now, we finally have the biggest news of them all. Very recently, Doja Cat went to her Instagram account again to share her cover art for Scarlet. The caption says, “SCARLET 9.22 ”

Looking at the cover, it is very simplistic but it certainly looks cool. A reddish-tinged creepy-crawly is the center of attention, with a little drop of blood above it. The background is a solid white, adding a nice color contrast. Doja Cat is fully committed to this devilish persona, and it will hopefully translate to the production, song themes, and message of the album too. Furthermore, if you go to her account on any music streaming service, all of her album covers are now red, which is a cool little way to promote this renaissance. It is safe to say we cannot wait for Scarlet to arrive.

Billy Porter Says He Was “Booted” From R&B For Being Gay

Billy Porter isn’t shy when it comes to talking about the ebbs and flows of his career. Before becoming an Emmy-Award-winning actor, he was a smooth-talking rising star in R&B. He even dropped a self-titled album in 1997. It spawned a single titled” Show Me,” which was well-received by fans. However, his music dreams came crashing down quite fast. Porter, who is openly gay, claimed his queerness is what led to him being pushed out of R&B.

In an interview with Evening Star, Porter says he was labeled as a “liability.” He added, “Not just in the music industry, but across the board. And it was a liability.” The actor would later pivot into Broadway, eventually earning himself a Tony Award for his role in Kinky Boots. “[I] made a name for myself, period,” he said. “Not just Broadway. I won an Emmy. I’m a fashion icon. Now they need me. Winners write their history, because I’m not supposed to be here looking like this,” he says.

As of today, Porter is more confident than ever and ready to make his return to music. Last month, he dropped off a new single, “Break A Sweat.” The track is expected to be featured on his upcoming album, The Black Mona Lisa. “I lost my watch/I left it back in purgatory,” he sings on the upbeat tune. “Go on, call the cops/’Cause I don’t fit inside your story.” Porter also talked about the inspiration behind the project’s name.

“Being a pop star is about the imagery that you create. So what would be the strongest image? It’s the Mona Lisa — past, present, future, always relevant. The Black Mona Lisa: that’s what I am.” Throughout the rest of the interview, he opened up about surviving the AIDS crisis of the 1980s. The virus predominately affected queer men. A few years back, the actor revealed that he had been battling with the auto-immune disease since 2007. “I lived through the Aids crisis, honey! I lost a whole generation of folks. [But I] know that I’m part of the generation who kicked the door down.”

Timbaland Unveils Title For Justin Timberlake, Nelly Furtado Track

Timbaland has finally released the name for his upcoming track with Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado. On Monday(August 28), the legendary producer took to Instagram to share the announcement with fans. Friday (September 1) is the official release date for the track. And it couldn’t come at a better time — Labor Day weekend.

“Labor Day Weekend We Here [rocket emoji] @nellyfurtado @justintimberlake [mind blown emoji]This Friday!!!!!!!” he wrote in the post’s caption. “Keep Going Up!” would be the trio’s first collaboration since 2007’s “Give It Up.” It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The track also appeared on Timbaland’s Shock Value. The project debuted at No. 5 on the US Billboard 200, selling the equivalent of 138,000 units. Judging the Virgina hitmaker’s comment section, fans couldn’t be more excited.

The producer says the album embodies “fun.” He added, “Music is a young sport — of course, we’ve both seen a lot of life, but you have to bring out the 13-year-old kid again, you know?” Timbaland also spoke about working on Missy Elliott’s new album. Lil Wayne Announces New Song “Kat Food” Coming Soon

Despite appearing on a handful of features, Lil Wayne has had a pretty quiet 2023 in terms of his own releases. He did drop one new single “Kant Nobody” back in February. The track featured a posthumous appearance from DMX. Now he’s gearing up to release another new single and fans won’t have to wait long to hear it. “Kat Food” is the name of Wayne’s new song and it’s arriving later this week on September 1. He also shared the album cover which features a cat with its tongue out. On it’s tongue, fittingly, is Lil Wayne’s name.

Lil Wayne started the year teaming up with NLE Choppa on the track “AIN’T GONNA ANSWER” before teaming up with Roddy Rich and Gucci Mane on the DJ Drama track “FMFU.” A few months later Wayne teamed up with will.i.am on the song “Formula” and Big Freedie on the track “El Nino.” He ended his feature run by joining Tyga on the Mario song “Main One” and teaming up with Album Of The Year Grammy winner Jon Batiste for a song called “Uneasy.” Wayne hasn’t confirmed if this new single is planned to appear on any forthcoming album.

Recently video of Lil Wayne seemingly shooting a new music video with Usher and 2 Chainz hit the internet. The clip fueled speculation that they could be working on a sequel to their collaborative 2016 effort COLLEGROVE. This comes after Wayne also appeared on Trippie Redd and Dame D.O.L.L.A’s new albums in the past month.

Earlier in August, Lil Wayne was also inducted into the Billboard Hip-Hop Hall Of Fame. He joined the hall in a ceremony that also honored Nas and awarded Ice Spice the “Rookie Of The Year” for rap in 2023. It’s yet another honor for one of the most accredited rappers in the history of the genre. Armand Hammer is a rap duo that consists of high-level lyricists billy woods and E L U C I D. Billy heralds from Washington D.C. while E L U C I D is from Jamaica, Queens, New York. Both are no strangers to each other, as the two of them joined forces in 2013. Together they formed their own rap duo called Armand Hammer. They are well-known in the underground scene floating on top of some pretty experimental production. So naturally, they brought on JPEGMAFIA for the production of their new single called, “Armand Hammer Teams Up With JPEGMAFIA For “Woke Up And Asked Siri How I’m Gonna Die.”

It is an interesting title for sure, but that like we said is nothing out of the ordinary for any three of these artists. This single will be a part of their next LP, We Buy Diabetic Test Strips. The album is expected to be released on September 29, 2023, on all streaming platforms. Genius has the tracklist at 15 songs, so when it drops we will be here to cover it.

Both billy woods and E L U C I D ride the production very nicely. The atmosphere from the beginning is a little eerie.
