Blxst Highlights His Standout Voice And Storytelling On “Heart Ain’t Empty”

Blxst is one of the more versatile artists from the West Coast. He provides the ability to hit you with a banger, bouncy L.A. jams, or more emotional cuts. The latter is what he is delivering on his latest single, “Heart Ain’t Empty.” This is Blxst’s solo single since “21 Questions” as a part of Juneteenth. 2023 was a heavy year for collaborations the singer and rapper.

He and Bino Rideaux made their Sixtape series into a trilogy with a six-track EP back in September. Blxst also worked with Larry June and Cardo on “Without You” which you can find on Larry’s project The Night Shift. As we mentioned, Blxst decided to go with a deeper type of song for this newest offering and he delivers tenfold. The production is an afterthought, but not in a bad way.

Listen To “Heart Ain’t Empty” By Blxst

It takes a backseat to allow the listener to really dial into what the Califonia artist is talking about. He buries deep and unearths the lost relationships that have been weighing on him. From the lyrics, it sounds like he is referring to his late friend Gello. In the second, he speaks about the strength of his sister who has lost so much in her life. She is an inspiration for Blxst to keep going and come through with new material, which it sounds like he is working on. However, it sounds like it is hard for him to do so with these worries he has. “Loadin’ up the cart, retail therapy / I ain’t takin’ care of me, I’m eatin’, well barely / Workin’ on my album, how? With no clarity.” We wish the best for Blxst and congratulate him for his perseverance and the fantastic track.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “Heart Ain’t Empty,” by Blxst? Is this one of the best tracks he has ever written, why or why not? Does he deserve more respect as an R&B artist, or is he properly rated? Are you excited about his upcoming project and will it be his best one yet? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. With that in mind, be sure to leave all of your hottest takes in the comments section below. Armand Hammer Announce New Vinyl-Only Album

For big fans of billy woods and Elucid, there’s a chance to get some new music soon. The duo, who rap together as Armand Hammer, just announced a quick follow-up album to last year’s We Buy Diabetic Test Strips. The critically acclaimed project will be succeeded by a new album called BLK LBL. The project has some impressive collaborators with features from Dreamcrusher and Zeroh. Fans looking to hear BLK LBL will only have one way to get their hands on the songs. The album is exclusively available on vinyl and it’s only being sold at upcoming Armand Hammer shows. The duo’s label confirmed that the record won’t appear on streaming and that there are no plans to make it available for purchase on Bandcamp. The record doesn’t have a specific release date but fans are expecting it to start popping up at live shows soon. Check out the tracklist and announcement post below.

Denzel Curry Comes To Joey Badass’ Defense After Fans Dislike New Snippet

Earlier this week, Joey Badass took to Instagram to share a new snippet of music with fans. But the track had a very different feel than what many are expecting when he drops new music. It followed in the footsteps of his song “Fallin’” last year which took his sound in a more R&B-influenced direction. The new preview sounds similar even making use of electronic vocal effects and auto-tune over Joey’s singing. But fans expecting more straightforward rap music flooded the comments with their opinions.

In response to the negative reaction, Denzel Curry came to Joey’s defense. The two have crossed paths musically before, teaming up for the fan-favorite “Zenith,” a standout cut from Curry’s 2016 album Imperial. Curry took to Twitter to stand up for Joey’s right to expand his range artistically. “I Support my brother Joey Bada$$ new Art and you shouldn’t hold people back for trying new things if you like 1999 then go listen to 1999 it’s on streaming platforms,” his tweet reads. Even then some fans still tried to come into the comments dissing Joey’s new output though some of the most popular replies are in support of both artists. Check out the full tweet and fan reactions to it below.

Denzel Curry spent the second half of 2023 keeping his hot streak of bangers alive. He shared new tracks like “SKED” and “WOO” with PlayThatBoiZay and Chief Pound that had fans pouring out praise. Gunna And Turbo Recruit Some Classic Music Video Starlets For New “Bachelor” Visuals

Back in November, Gunna and one of his frequent collaborators Turbo teamed up for a new song called “Bachelor.” The track has been pretty successful in the months since racking up more than 13 million streams. It’s the second time the rapper has lent a verse to an official Turbo song following “QUARANTINE CLEAN” which also featured Young Thug. Those streaming numbers are about to get a significant uptick following the release of the song’s new music video.

The visuals for “Bachelor” were teased ahead of time as a major event and they didn’t disappoint. For the video there are some typical shots of Turbo playing the piano and Gunna delivering his lines in fittingly luxurious imagery. But it’s the other stars of the video that are making waves. They recruited an all-star cast of video vixens who stared in some of the most iconic rap videos of the 2000’s to appear in the new video. Headliners include Eboni Jackson, Tammy Torres, KD Aubert, and more. Collectively the girls have appeared in music videos for Pharrell, Lil Wayne, Drake, Fabolous, 50 Cent, and many more high-profile rap acts. Check out the ornately decorated video below.

Gunna and Turbo Go All Out For “Bachelor” Video

Gunna fans are expecting some new music from the rapper this year. That’s because he responded to a post made by Spotify’s Rap Caviar playlist asking who fans wanted to drop new music this year. He didn’t reveal much in his response but it still got fans hyped for whatever he’s planning.

He followed that vague announcement up with a surprising tease. When discussing his next album Gunna said he wanted to focus on “substance.” He also claimed that he wanted to explore his afrobeats side after a performance in the style last year garnered a bunch of positive attention from fans. What do you think of Gunna and Turbo recruiting famous 2000’s rap video stars for the visuals to their new song “Bachelor?” Let us know in the comment section below.

Lil Yachty Catches Heat From Fans Online For New Megan Thee Stallion Bar

A new Lil Yachty lyric has the rapper in trouble with music fans once again. It comes just a few months after an NSFW reference to Billie Eilish during an appearance on Drake’s new album For All The Dogs got him in similarly hot water. While Billie herself laughed the lyric off many of her fans took it as disrespectful. That’s the case once again following a new lyric that directly references Megan Thee Stallion and her shooting incident with Tory Lanez.

Funny enough, Drake himself was one of the first rappers to get in trouble for referencing Megan on a song. A track from his collaborative album with 21 Savage Her Loss featured a bar implying he didn’t believe Megan’s telling of the events. In a new collaboration with DONTKALLMELUXXY called “SYDNEY” Yachty makes the same mistake of writing about the situation. “Better watch where you step or get treated like Megan Thee Stallion,” the lyric in question reads. The lyric is an attempted double meaning as Megan was notoriously shot in the foot by Tory Lanez. Unsurprisingly, the lyric was met with massive backlash online. Check out the bar in question below.

Lil Yachty’s Troublesome New Megan Thee Stallion Lyric

Fans online conjured plenty of backlash against the lyric. Subsequently, many called it completely unnecessary as it doesn’t serve any important role song at all. Additionally, others were just surprised by what sounded like a legitimate threat to shoot women the same way Meg was shot. Check out some of the fan reactions to the lyric below.

Though the song hasn’t made it to streaming yet it’s racking up tens of thousands of views on YouTube. It’s also gaining quite a bit of traction on Twitter as numerous high-profile accounts have shared clips of the controversial lyric. Tory Lanez was convicted of shooting Megan and sentenced to 10 years in prison last year. What do you think of the backlash for Lil Yachty’s lyric about Megan Thee Stallion? Do you think rappers should stop referencing the incident? Let us know in the comment section below.

DontKallMeLuxxy And Lil Yachty’s “SYDNEY” Makes Controversial Reference To Megan Thee Stallion

Lil Yachty’s relentless run is seemingly never going to end at this point. The eccentric rapper hailing from Georgia arguably has the biggest year in 2023 out of anyone. From dropping his experimental and psychedelic journey that was Let’s Start Here, to working with J. Cole on “The Secret Recipe,” this guy was all over the place. Now, he is back once again with someone who he is familiar with, but not many may know.

DontKallMeLuxxy is also a rapper and he is from Brooklyn, New York. His career is pretty minimal even though he has been dropping since 2017. He has dropped five singles in the past year or so and has one album to his name. That would be Bishop, which dropped right around the time he got his start. As we mentioned, he and Yachty have a history together. Together they dropped a track called “Trance” in 2020.

Now, they are back for a YouTube exclusive track called “SYDNEY.” While it is another big moment for Luxxy, it comes with a caveat. If you are a Megan Thee Stallion fan, you may want to turn away from this one. According to Uproxx, people are bashing the track for the distasteful reference Luxxy makes in regards to the Tory Lanez fiasco. He raps, “That n**** always there better watch where you step get treated like Megan Thee Stallion.” Her supporters were quick to flame him on Twitter, saying, “That Megan Thee Stallion bar was NOT necessary or needed.” Another goes, “Every tongue that rises against Megan Thee Stallion will fall.” It will be interesting to see if she has anything to say about this.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “SYDNEY,” by DontKallMeLuxxy and Lil Yachty? Who had the better performance and why? Is Luxxy’s bar about Megan Thee Stallion uncalled for? Do you think she will/should respond to this? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. Erica Banks Continues Her String Of Freestyles, Spits Over Nicki Minaj’s “Everybody”

Desoto, Texas rapper Erica Banks is not slowing down for anyone as of late. The 25-year-old sensation who is behind the creation of “Buss It,” is back yet again. She is here to provide some new heat for the freestyle streets. It was about a week ago when Erica dropped her most recent song, “I Think I Love Em (Freestyle).” On that offering, she was flexing her sexual prowess over a classic Gucci Mane cut, “I Think I Love Her.” That has racked up over 160,000 plays on YouTube since that mark.

With that feedback in mind, Erica thought it was only right to give the fans what they wanted. This time she is lying down her deep southern-fried flows on a fresher song. Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday 2 featured a very popular collaboration with Lil Uzi Vert called “Everybody,” which sampled the classic song “Move Your Feet.” Erica Banks decided to put her twist on it and it comes great again.

The major message in this song addresses the money she spent on plastic surgery. With a big-time decision like that, people are going to have something negative to say about it. However, Erica has a nonchalant attitude that plays so well with her delivery and lyrics. Check out the uber-confident track above.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “Everybody (Freestyle),” by Erica Banks? Should she make a compilation album with all of her freestyles? Is this the better freestyle out of the two most recent? Do you like it when rappers spit on other artists’ songs, why or why not? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. D-Block Europe Go Across The Pond To Recruit Kodak Black For “Still Play Valorant”

It is always cool when talents from different countries bring their respective approaches to a track. Almost always, it leads to bangers, or something new and refreshing. Today it is the first of those two outcomes. The artists that have joined forces this time around are British rap duo D-Block Europe and Florida’s Kodak Black.

The name of the track is “Still Play Valorant” and this is not a single. Rather, it is closer to the collective’s most recent full-length project, Rolling Stone. With all of the major releases this past weekend, it took some time to get to it. However, we are glad we are able to share it. One of the best parts of this cut is the production hands down.

Listen To “Still Play Valorant” By D-Block Europe And Kodak Black

It is wavy, spacey, and pure melodic trap goodness. If you are into auto-tune you are going to dig this. While it might be a bit of a loose comparison, it shares some similarities to A Boogie wit da Hoodie’s 2017 song “Beast Mode” from The Bigger Artist. The whisky, ghostly, and woodwind-like elements add an ethereal vibe to the violent track. D-Block Europe makes a witty reference to the first-person shooting game, Valorant to show their aggressive nature. “Got sticks at home and I still play VALORANT.” Check it out for yourself above.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new song, “Still Play Valorant,” by D-Block Europe and Kodak Black? Who had the best performance out of the three? Who is going to have the biggest year in 2024 and why? Where do you rank Black’s guest verse amongst the rest of his features?
