JT Says She’s Still Hungry Even After New City Girls Album

Over the weekend, JT and Yung Miami, AKA City Girls, released their new album RAW. Their first new album in 3 years sports features from Lil Durk, Muni Long, Juicy J, Usher, and Kim Petras. While the album has made waves with fans and critics, it doesn’t seem like it will have the biggest commercial debut. Newly released figures have the album’s projected first week sales landing somewhere between 6k and 8k, relatively unimpressive numbers.

Despite that, JT is confident that she’s still got a lot more to offer. A fan reacting to one particularly hard-hitting verse from the album tweeted “yall were hungry.” In a quote tweet she said “I’m still hungry!” implying that there could be even more in the tank from her. That’s in line with something she said in a recent interview about how she wanted to try out some solo music. In fact, she could have an entire solo album on the way at some point following the debut solo single she released earlier this year.

JT Is Still Hungry For More

The promotional campaign for RAW, which stands for Real A*s Wh*res, is already under way. In tandem with the release of the album, they also dropped a new music video. It’s a fittingly flashy video to accompany the song “Flashy” which features a hook from pop star Kim Petras who broke out last year with the smash hit “Unholy.”

This isn’t the only time that JT has made references to her own work in the past few weeks. Before the release of RAW, she confidently tweeted that City Girls have no bad projects. Fans seem to generally agree as it isn’t hard to find love for four of the duo’s dynamic projects online. What do you think of JT’s new tweet in response to a fan claiming she sounded hungry on the new City Girls album? Let us know in the comment section below.

Brian McKnight Changes Name To Match Youngest Son’s, Older Son Responds

Recently, Brian McKnight took to social media to announce that he’s legally changed his name. His new name, Brian Kainoa Makoa McKnight Sr., is identical to his youngest son’s. “So proud to introduce our son BRIAN KAINOA MAKOA JR. to the world with the release of my new album lovingly created for him,” he wrote. McKnight and his wife, Leilani Malia Mendoza, welcomed the baby boy in January of this year.

He calls the new album, MCKNIGHTtime LULLABIES, “the songs of a father to his namesake.” While the change may seem like a simple heartfelt gesture, it follows some allegations made by his other children, who feel as though their father abandoned them. His older son, also named Brian McKnight Jr., also had a few things to say about the announcement.

Brian McKnight Jr. Reacts To His Father’s Name Change

He responded to a social media user claiming they’d be feeling some type of way if they were him, claiming that he won’t let his father’s actions have a negative impact on him. “I’m not ashamed of the name my ancestors had,” he began. “I’ll never change the name my own son now has. We are witnessing an obscene level of self hate, that has reached mental illness status at this point. All we can do is pray for that man, and my new little brother, who we will all welcome with open arms one day, once he realizes who his real family is.”

“Legacy isn’t in the name,” he continued. “It’s in the character of the people. It will all be quite clear soon, just who’s on the right side of all this, because there’s no escaping what’s coming.” What do you think of Brian McKnight legally changing his name to match his youngest son’s? Do you think his older son’s response was warranted? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

Valee And MVW Are Seeking “VALEEDATION” On Their New Collab Tape

Chicago, Illinois rapper Valee is bringing the goods once again in just a short period of time. We say that because it was just several months ago that we heard a full-length project from him. In fact, it was back in late July that we got Valee’s last record, Virtuoso. That was a dual effort from him and legendary producer, Harry Fraud. It got mixed reviews from our writers at HNHH because of the inconsistencies from Valee.

This time, he brings on another talent in MVW to handle a great deal of the production. We started to get some rollout for this tape back at the very end of March with the lead single “Yo Yo.” That featured another up-and-coming artist, Tony Shhnow. Fast forward a few months and in that span, we would get four more samples from it.

JT Asks Fans If Her “RAW” Lyrics Are Too Extreme

When it comes to unfiltered personalities and unabashedly honest rappers, few can compare to the perspective of JT. Moreover, the City Girl is always on social media speaking her mind on a variety of issues, whether it’s her relationship life, their haters, or the most random of topics. However, that’s a tough attitude to keep up consistently, especially with a diverse and huge fanbase that will never line up perfectly with your views. Furthermore, she recently took to Twitter to ask fans if she’s gone a bit too far in some places. Specifically, it refers to the Florida MC’s recorded material and whether or not it’s too raunchy.

JT screenshotted and posted the following lyrics from the City Girls track “Tonight” off of their brand new album RAW: “P***y on his nose, on my period, Rudolph.” “I always told y’all rapping nasty be hard for me, lmao,” she wrote as her Twitter caption. “I be going too far when I do cause I be trying to relate to the freaks. Did I take it too far saying this?” Would you folks say the “No Bars” spitter’s onto something or is she just exaggerating?

JT Doubts Her “Nasty Rapping” On RAW

Of course, this is far from the first- and won’t be the last- conversation about provocative or lewd lyricism in hip-hop. Sure, we usually don’t get artists like JT turning around on them so quickly; rather, they usually stand by them for a while. But everyone’s got a different take on how raunchy you can get in a song, and it’s something that’s bleeding into more fanbases than ever. For example, if a City Girls track were to go viral with a clean snippet on TikTok, how might a new listener react when they check out the full song in all its uncensored glory?

Meanwhile, at least the 30-year-old has plenty more opportunities to work on her “nasty” rapping. She announced that she’s hard at work on a solo project following the release of RAW. Let’s hope that, instead of explicit material or safe lyricism, the focus is on the music being fantastic at its core. For more news and the latest updates on JT and City Girls, stay up to date on HNHH.

Sampha Recreates What It Feels Like To See Someone You Have Missed On “Dancing Circles”

Sampha has a gift that not many other artists in general have. He has a knack for being able to connect the listeners to the stimulations and feelings he wants to recreate. This remains true on one of the songs off of his sophomore album, Lahai. The six-year wait is finally over and it is safe to say that Sampha’s patience and meticulousness paid off. “Dancing Circles” sees the London singer explaining how it feels to talk to someone you have not seen in some time.

Many people will undoubtedly relate to this. Whatever the reasons are, sometimes even the people closest to us can sometimes drift far apart. But, when you do get to see them and talk for hours with them it feels great to reconnect. That is what Sampha is trying to convey on this track.

Listen To “Dancing Circles” From Sampha

In an interview with Apple Music, he broke down what the meaning behind the song is and how it came to be. Sampha says, “I sort of freestyled some lyrics and came up with the dancing refrain.” He goes on, “Then [I] had this idea of someone having a conversation with someone they hadn’t seen in a long time, and just remembering how good it is, how good it felt to dance with them.” The production is also fitting for the track as it builds tension. But, it is not uncomfortable. It is a feeling of excitement that you finally get to see the person again that you have missed so much.

Gucci Mane Is Embracing The Role Of The Family Man

Earlier this week, Gucci Man released his new double album Breath Of Fresh Air. The album has a feature-packed tracklist including Lil Baby, Young Dolph, J. Cole, Key Glock, DaBaby, 21 Savage, Roddy RIcch, Nardo Wick, Kodak Black, and many more. The album cover sees Gucci standing alongside his family and that’s an appropriate image for the album. Thematically he talks a lot about embracing family and fatherhood throughout the project and he’s doubled down on those thoughts in interviews.

He sat down with Streetz Atlanta to talk about how his motivation has changed as he’s gotten older. “I was like, basically, I’ma roll this album out, and this gon’ be the discography of Gucci in 2023, with my little girl, and my boy. So now when I look back 10 years from now, I say okay, this where I was at,” Gucci Mane begins. “These the songs I made, this what was on my mind, and that’s where  Breath of Fresh Air, like take your time. Enjoy your family. And just express that instead of like, talking about — not even the same stuff I talk about — but the same stuff I hear people talk about. Show people you can talk about other things, you know what I’m saying? It’s cool to have a family. It’s cool to have dinner at home.” Check out the full interview below.

Young Scooter Talks About How The “Streetz Krazy” On His Latest Album

Young Scooter has been around the trap rap scene since the mid-2010s and he is now making a return to it. He has not put out a solo project since 2020, but all of that changed today (October 20). The South Carolina and Georgia artist has just come out with a brand-new tight album, Streetz Krazy. It is only 13 tracks and runs just under 38 minutes long.

Fans’ first look at what Scooter’s project was going to sound like came all the way back in early February of this year. “Come Eat Wit Us,” features EST GEE and he is one of a few features on here. Then, in June, Scooter put out a solo single with “Trap It Out.” However, the biggest feature was the Future placement.

City Girls & Kim Petras Shimmer & Shine In “Flashy” New Music Video: Watch

City Girls’ long-awaited studio album RAW is finally here, and of course, it’s full of party bangers for the club. After all, could we really expect anything less form JT and Yung Miami, who’ve been putting out energetic and above all fun tracks for years now? Moreover, one of the new project’s instant highlights is the track “Flashy” with Kim Petras. Its title is quite fitting, as its infectious bounce, shimmery synth keys, flange-heavy guitars, and luxurious lyrics give off sheer opulence. It seems like this trio realized how much potential this song has, because they just dropped a new music video for it.

Furthermore, the visual sees City Girls and Kim Petras soar in a pink private through the skies. In addition, they hit up a beachy photoshoot, pick out some new designer clothes to wear, and visit a disco-ball-lit disco. Overall, it’s exactly the kind of crisp and colorful visuals that “Flashy” sonically evokes. Naturally, the title of the track and MV is a bit of a dead giveaway, but it doesn’t make the visual any less engaging to watch. With that in mind, hopefully this isn’t the only music video to come out of this rollout or album.

City Girls’ “Flashy” Music Video With Kim Petras: Watch

Meanwhile, it had been a long time since we saw the City Girls launch a lot of new music together. Sure, JT and Yung Miami kept quite busy with remixes, singles, and extracurricular endeavors, but there’s nothing quite like a dynamic duo. What’s more is that there were so many teases leading up to this new LP, even as the date got closer and closer. For example, they played a medley of new material at the 2023 BET Hip-Hop Awards.

On that note, what were your other favorite songs or underrated highlights that made the tracklist on RAW? Did you like this “Flashy” music video or was it not flashy enough? Whatever the case, let us know in the comments down below. Also, come back to HNHH for the latest news and updates on City Girls and Kim Petras.
